Lex Mandrake is an rpg content creator who writes games and supplements, produces videos, and composes music under the moniker Dank Dungeons.Some of his larger projects include AZAG, the weird sword and sorcery rpg and 5B, the 5th Edition compatible OSR style rpg.Recently, he's been working with dungeon-tuber Jorphdan to create videos highlighting indie rpgs on the Jorphdan's Jocular Junction YouTube channel. I had the honor to work with Lex in AZAG, and had a great time hanging out with him at Gen Con 2023. But besides that, we have been talking and getting to know each other for a while, and this conversation is basically just friends hanging out. So, we had to class up the joint on this one; Mr. Bill "Named that Funky Star Wars Alien" Slavicsek stops by to hang and talk about his very early work, "Scared Stiffs" for the Ghostbusters RPG from West End Games. This was too much fun!  Edwin Nagy of Frog God Games and Bill Barsh of Pacesetter Games were good enough to rejoin the cast and hold my had so I didn't turn too "fanboy" on Mr. Slavicsek -though I will admit having to edit out an ending where I stuttered through his name 5 times like Sylvester the cat...  Personal highlight of my gaming life, right here dungeoneers!

We're back!  We've rested our bodies and minds and healed any alligator inflicted injuries, so it's time for Til Dice Do Us Part to resume!  Our first episode back is also our Halloween special, and we start proceedings with a bloodcurdlingly brilliant  Elevator Pitch.  The game we are talking about this time is Spooktacular by Yaruki Zero Games, a retro-clone that recreates the long out-of-print Ghostbusters RPG. Ailsa and George will give you a guide to this rules package which gets the mechanics of this game in your hand for a reasonable sum, just as soon as they can get the television to work...After that we've got a Quiz themed around the most horrifying films of 1980s UK culture - the Video Nasties, a list of films which were apparently so shocking that they were banned from distribution on VHS for a time.  The tabloids loved shrieking about them and their lurid titles - but are they really any worse than those of RPG books?  Ailsa has to determine that very question as George gives her a list of ten titles, some of which are Video Nasties and some of which are official RPG products.  How many can you identify? How many will bamboozle Ailsa? How many will offend the Mailer Daemon? Brownie Points are gained and lost during the game depending on how well or poorly your PC is doing. Most new characters start with 20 Points. Bagging a big mean full-torso floating apparition that's been scaring the Hotel Expensivo guests will earn you bonus Points, while blowing up valuable city property with your experimental high energy neutrino scattergun will cost you Points. As long as you have them, though, they can be used for all sorts of good stuff, such as reducing the healing time you need to recover from wounds. They can also be used to add one die to your total when rolling a check with a Trait or a Talent. Maybe most importantly, Brownie Points can be used to save your ass when things go awry; spending Points can help you avoid the nasty repercussions of failed rolls, lethal injuries, or very, very bad planning by altering the game.
