We know of Jesus as THE Christ, THE Savior, THE Redeemer among other descriptions. But one young man called Him Good Master. Is Jesus YOUR Master?
2025-03-02 PM - The Good Master: Another Kingdom Parable - Matthew 20:1-16 - Pastor Dan Brabson
13 And they brought to him young children, that he might touch them. And the disciples rebuked them that brought them.Et offerebant illi parvulos ut tangeret illos. Discipuli autem comminabantur offerentibus. 14 Whom when Jesus saw, he was much displeased, and saith to them: Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God.Quos cum videret Jesus, indigne tulit, et ait illis : Sinite parvulos venire ad me, et ne prohibueritis eos : talium enim est regnum Dei. 15 Amen I say to you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, shall not enter into it.Amen dico vobis : Quisquis non receperit regnum Dei velut parvulus, non intrabit in illud. 16 And embracing them, and laying his hands upon them, he blessed them.Et complexans eos, et imponens manus super illos, benedicebat eos. 17 And when he was gone forth into the way, a certain man running up and kneeling before him, asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may receive life everlasting?Et cum egressus esset in viam, procurrens quidam genu flexo ante eum, rogabat eum : Magister bone, quid faciam ut vitam aeternam percipiam? 18 And Jesus said to him, Why callest thou me good? None is good but one, that is God.Jesus autem dixit ei : Quid me dicis bonum? nemo bonus, nisi unus Deus. 19 Thou knowest the commandments: Do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, bear not false witness, do no fraud, honour thy father and mother.Praecepta nosti : ne adulteres, ne occidas, ne fureris, ne falsum testimonium dixeris, ne fraudum feceris, honora patrem tuum et matrem. 20 But he answering, said to him: Master, all these things I have observed from my youth. At ille respondens, ait illi : Magister, haec omnia observavi a juventute mea. 21 And Jesus looking on him, loved him, and said to him: One thing is wanting unto thee: go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.Jesus autem intuitus eum, dilexit eum, et dixit ei : Unum tibi deest : vade, quaecumque habes vende, et da pauperibus, et habebis thesaurum in caelo : et veni, sequere meSt Gabriel, born at Assisi A.D. 1838, was guided by Our Lady into the Passionist Institute and became a veritable Apostle of her Sorrows. His life was throughout perfect and irreproachable . He died at the age of twenty-four and many miracles bore witness to his holiness. He was canonized by Pope Benedict XV, who gave him as a pattern to young people.

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN BY BRINGING BACK THE CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE OF EARLY AMERICA: GEORGE WHITEFIELD
THERE ARE MANY OF US AMERICANS THAT ARE NOT INTERESTED IN HALF THE TRUTH OR EVEV 99.9% OF THE TRUTH, BUT ARE INTERESTED IN 100% OF THE TRUTH OR IN OTHER WORDS WE ARE INTERESTED IN THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH, FOR IF THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE TRUTH THEN THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE RIGHT OR WRONG,AND THUS THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE STANDARD TO MEASURE OURSELVES BY, AND AS A RESULT WE AS AMERICANS ARE ALL GUESSING ABOUT OUR SALVATION. ON THE OTHER HAND THERE ARE MANY OF US AMERICANS WHO DON'T MIND GUESSING,FOR IF WE KNEW THE ABSOLUTE STANDARD,IT WOULD STRIP US OF OUR SECURITY BLANKET OF THE FIG LEAVES OF MORALITY AS OUR TICKET INTO HEAVEN. SO WE AS JOHN Q. PUBLIC OF AMERICA, BEING THE SIMPLE PEOPLE OF AMERICA THAT WE ARE ASK OURSELVES SIMPLE QUESTIONS. IS IT IN OUR DNA TO THINK THAT IF THERE IS A HEAVEN WOULD HEAVEN BE HOLY AND THERE SEEMS TO BE AN INNATE ANSWER IN THE DNA OF US AMERICANS, GIVING US A RESOUNDING YES TO THAT QUESTION. SO WE AS JOHN Q. PUBLIC OF AMERICA SAY TO OURSELVES CAN GOD ALLOW ANY OF US AMERICANS INTO HEAVEN WHO ARE NOT HOLY. THEN WE ASK OURSELVES WAS KING DAVID LYING TO US WHEN HE SAID THAT HE WAS HOLY?Psalm 86: [1] Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy.[2] Preserve my soul; for I am HOLY: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee.WAS FORMER MR. MORALITY LYING WHEN HE SAID THAT HE AND HIS EPHESIAN BRETHREN WERE HOLY?Ephesians 1: [4] (PARTICIPLE)According as he hath CHOSEN “US” in him BEFORE the foundation of the world, (IN ORDER)that we should be HOLY and WITHOUT BLAME BEFORE HIM in love: [5] Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of HIS WILL. SO WE AS JOHN Q. PUBLIC OF AMERICA SAY TO OURSELVES, KING DAVID WAS AN ADULTERER, HOW IN THE WORLD COULD HE BE HOLY?FORMER MR. MORALITY CALLED HIMSELF A WRETCHED MAN AS A BELIEVER, HOW COULD HE ALSO CALL HIMSELF HOLY?Rom. 7: 24] O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?NOW THESE QUESTIONS THAT WE ARE ASKING AS JOHN Q. PUBLIC OF AMERICA ARE CERTAINLY NOT UNREASONABLE ARE THEY?SO THEN WE AS JOHN Q. PUBLIC OF AMERICA ASK OURSELVES ANOTHER SIMPLE QUESTION. WAS JESUS LYING, WHEN HE SAID THAT WE COULD, AS AMERICANS, GO TO HEAVEN BY KEEPING THE COMMANDMENTS. MATT. 19: 16] And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I MAY HAVE ETERNAL LIFE?[17] And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into (ETERNAL)life, KEEP the COMMANDMENTS.WAS FORMER MR. MORALITY LYING WHEN HE SAID WE WON'T GO TO HEAVEN BY KEEPING THE COMMANDMENTS OR THAT IS BY WORKS WE NOT GO TO HEAVEN?Ephesians 2: [8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:[9] Not of works(NOT BY KEEPING THE COMMANDMENTS ARE WE SAVED SO THIS LEADS US TO THE QUESTION IN MESSAGE. WHAT DO WE DO WITH THE COMMANDS OF GOD AFTER WE ARE SAVED IF GRACE CANCELS WORKS AND WORKS CANCELS GRACE? Ro. 11: [6] But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: WE AS JOHN Q. PUBLIC OF AMERICA BEING THE SIMPLE PEOPLE WE ARE, WE SAY TO OURSELVES IF WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE, THAT IS SAVED BY NOT FOLLOWING THE COMMANDS OF GOD, WOULDN'T WE BE HYPOCRITES TO SAY WE NOW FOLLOW THE COMMANDMENTS AFTER WE ARE SAVED, FOR IF WE DID FOLLOW THE COMMANDMENTS AFTER WE ARE SAVED, WE WOULD BE CANCELING GRACE WOULD WE NOT. SO THE QUESTION IS: WHAT DO WE DO WITH THE COMMANDMENTS AFTER WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE, IF FOLLOWING THE COMMANDMENTS CANCELS GRACE?THAT IS A SIMPLE AND REASONABLE QUESTION IS IT NOT. ALL CHRISTIANS AND PASTORS SAVED BY GRACE SHOULD KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION SHOULD THEY NOT?EVEN FORMER MR. MORALITY HIMSELF ASKS THIS SAME QUESTION:Rom. 3: [31] Do we then make void the law through faith(AFTER WE ARE SAVED BY FAITH)? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. WE WILL TAKE A DEEP DIVE INTO THIS VERSE IN THIS MESSAGE!!!
MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN BY BRINGING BACK THE CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE OF EARLY AMERICA: GEORGE WHITEFIELD
IN THIS MESSAGE WE WILL TAKE A DEEP DIVE INTO A VERSE WRITTEN BY FORMER MR. MORALITY, HIMSELF, TO HIS BRETHREN IN ROME: Rom.7 [1] Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath DOMINION over a man AS LONG as he LIVETH?WE CAN THINK OF THE BIBLE AS A WAGON WHEEL PUZZLE. WE CAN THINK OF THE HUB OF THE WHEEL AS THE DEFINITION OF SALVATION AND THE 66 SPOKES OF THE WAGON WHEEL AS THE 66 BOOKS OF THE BIBLE. THEN WE AS JOHN Q. PUBLIC OF AMERICA SAY TO OURSELVES IF WE WERE SATAN, WHO IS THE ULTIMATE COUNTERFEITER, WHAT PART OF THE BIBLE WOULD WE COUNTERFEIT, BUT SALVATION, WHICH IS THE HUB OF THE WHEEL. SO THEN WE ASK OURSELVES WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY IS THE TICKET INTO HEAVEN?DOES THE BIBLE HAVE JUST ONE ANSWER OR DOES IT HAVE SEVERAL SEEMINGLY CONTRADICTORY ANSWERS. IS JESUS LYING WHEN HE SAYS THAT THE TICKET INTO HEAVEN IS: KEEP THE COMANDMENTS. Matt. 19: [16] And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?[17] And JESUS said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, KEEP the COMMANDMENTSWAS PAUL LYING WHEN HE WROTE THAT NOT BY FOLLOWING COMMANDMENTS ARE YE SAVED BUT BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH. EPHESIANS 2: (8] For by GRACE are ye SAVED through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9] NOT of WORKS(NOT BY FOLLOWING THE COMMANDMENTS), lest any man should boast.WAS DR. LUKE LYING WHEN HE WROTE: BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THOU SHALT BE SAVED. Acts 16: 31] And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.NOW WHAT ABOUT THE VERSE THIS MESSAGE IS BASED ON: IS IT A LIE: E: Rom.7 [1] Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath DOMINION over a man AS LONG as he LIVETH?DO WE HAVE TO DIE A SPIRITUAL DEATH AND RISE AGAIN AS A NEW CREATION TO GOTO HEAVEN. ALL THESE PIECES ALONG WITH OTHERS, DO NOT CONTRADICT ONE ANOTHER, BUT ARE IMPORTANT PIECES OF THE WAGON WHEEL PUZZLE, THAT MUST BE PUT INTO THE HUB OF THE WAGON WHEEL WHICH DEFINES SALVATION. THESE VERSES ABOVE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE HUB OF THE WHEEL PIECES WHICH MUST BE PLACED IN THE HUB OF THE WHEEL TO GET A FULL PICTURE OF SALVATION. IN THIS MESSAGE WE WIL PLACE THE PUZZLE PIECE: Rom.7 [1] Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath DOMINION over a man AS LONG as he LIVETH?

The Rich Young ManMatthew 19:16-30 (KJV)16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
Matthew 19:16 says "And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?"That verse starts the retelling of the story we often refer to as the "Rich Young Ruler"; someone looking for the path to eternal life. Jesus is different than we expect. He is loves, but His love is conditional. He is just, but His justice is based on our actions. He calls many, but not all. Those chosen must remain faithful to the end. We are required to deny ourselves, to take up our cross, to follow Christ. What we do matters! ***84: Jesus Tells Of The Temptation Of RichesMatthew 19:16-30; Mark 10:17-31; Luke 18:18-30A MAN came to Jesus and asked: “Good Master, what shall I do that I may have eternal life?” Jesus replied: “Why callest thou me good? Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said: “Verily I say unto you that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of Heaven.” The disciples were astonished at these words. The path to regeneration is to turn from your ways (repent); then, keep the Ten commandments. This act of continuing obedience reveals your belief and opens the door to communication. Communication from the Spirit of God leads to revelation of character flaws and the opportunity to make the changes required for perfection. The guidance we seek is the result of obedience. The move toward salvation is instant; the path to perfection is a progression - repentance, regeneration, endurance, and ultimately, salvation. Matthew 19:16-30 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. 23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. 27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? 28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. 30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first. Matt 20:1-16 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. 2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. 5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? 7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. 8 So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. 9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny. 11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, 12 Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. 13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? 14 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. 15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? 16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

In other words those little foxes of doubt will turn into unbelief and will join with a critical and judgmental spirit controlling your life! These destroy the fruit out of our lives, stealing life, joy and peace. Doubt is one thing but unbelief is another completely different thing in the eyes of the Lord! Doubt simply stated is questioning what you believe. Unbelief is an act of your will refusing to believe. We are to pick up our Cross daily and due daily to the flesh! Remember our theme today is “What You Tolerate will Dominate You”!Food 4 Thought: Bill Gothard taught a principle I never forgot. We feel it, even if we don't want to admit it: we're all "burdened" by something. Whether it's concern for our futures, our children, our jobs, our performances, our grades, or our health, there's something weighing each of us down. Jesus invites us to come to him with our burdens and trade them for light burden and easy yoke of resting in him. Learn how in "Jesus is the Good Master" from Matthew 11:25-30!
Pastor John Ryan Cantu brings this week's message, “The Good Master." Key Verse: Matthew 6:25-34 ESV ““Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?' or ‘What shall we drink?' or ‘What shall we wear?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Sermon Topics: Anxiety, Faith, Priorities Links: Daniel Fast
Indeed, to detach oneself from the disastrous effects of life in these tenebrous times is very difficult, but indispensable. Otherwise, one is devoured by life. Any work that one does on oneself with the purpose of achieving a spiritual and psychic development is always related with a very well understood type of isolation. This is because the personality is the only thing that one can develop under the influence of life as we have always lived it; anything else is impossible. We do not intend to oppose the development of the personality in any way. Obviously this is necessary in life. Yet, indeed the personality is merely something artificial. The personality is neither the truth nor the reality in us. If the wretched intellectual mammal, mistakenly called the human being, does not isolate himself, but identifies with all the occurrences of practical life, if he wastes his strength in negative emotions, in personal self-consideration and in insubstantial vain wordiness of ambiguous chattering, then nothing constructive, no real element can be developed within him, except that which belongs to this world of mechanicity. Indeed, whosoever wants to truly achieve the development of the Essence in himself must become hermetically sealed. This statement refers to something intimate, closely related to silence. The phrase “hermetically sealed” comes from ancient times when a doctrine on the internal development of a human being associated with the name of Hermes was secretly taught. Therefore, if one wants something real to grow within his interior, it is evident that one must avoid the escape of one’s psychic energies. When one’s energies drain away and one is not inwardly isolated, then it is unquestionable that one will not be able to attain the development of something real within one’s psyche. Ordinary routine life wants to devour us mercilessly. Hence, we must fight against life daily; we must learn to swim against the current. This work goes against daily life. It deals with something very different from that of daily life and something that we must, nonetheless, practice from moment to moment. I am referring to the revolution of the consciousness. Evidently, if our attitude towards daily life is fundamentally mistaken, if we believe that everything should turn out well because that is the way it is supposed to be, then we will be disappointed. People want things to turn out well, “because that is the way it is meant to be,” because everything should be in accordance with their plans. Nevertheless, crude reality is different; therefore, as long as one does not change internally, whether one likes it or not, one will be a victim of circumstances. Many sentimental stupidities are uttered and written about life. Yet, this Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology is different. This Doctrine goes straight to the point, to concrete, clear and definite facts. This doctrine emphatically affirms that the “intellectual animal,” mistakenly called a human being, is a mechanical, unconscious, sleeping biped. “The Good Master of the House” will never accept revolutionary psychology. “The Good Master of the House” fulfills all his duties as father, husband, etc., and because of it, thinks the best of himself. Nonetheless, he only serves Nature’s ends. That is all. On the other hand, we shall state that “the Good Master of the House” who swims against the current, who does not want to be devoured by life, also exists. However, this type of individual is very rare in the world. There are very few of this type. When one behaves in accordance with the ideas of this Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, one obtains an upright perception of life. Samael Aun Weor

If I could tell you a way whereby you could live forever, would you be interested? Well, the question was put to Jesus, and Jesus gave a straight answer. Would you like to hear it?And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?Mark 10:17Now, there is our question. But the answer comes as a bit of surprise. One of the most fundamental Christian doctrines is that salvation is by grace, through faith and not of works. But listen to Jesus response. And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.Matthew 19:17Now this comes as a bit of shock, not that we should keep these commandments, but the suggestion that works have anything to do with eternal life, right? There is a funny thing about the 10 commandments, though. They don’t call so much for you to do anything as to avoid doing things. Is it a good work to abstain from committing murder? And surely we don’t think that men who habitually break the ten commandments will receive eternal life, do we?I think what many confuse in this issue is that salvation is a rescue operation. Sin is the transgression of the law, right? And the wages of sin is death, right? Well, you cannot get rid of the guilt of sin by keeping the law. That can only come about by grace through faith. But the person who will not forsake the sin that killed him cannot receive the grace of God, no matter that God extends it to him. It is called repentance.
I was asked to speak about what a yogi's perspective of Jesus Christ would be. I have done my best to answer this question honestly and from the Vedic perspective. Some of the Bible verses I used in the talk from the King James Version, are listed here: [Mat 6:24 ] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. [Mar 10:17-23, 25-27 ] 17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? 18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is], God. 19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. 20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. 21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. 22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions. 23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! ... 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 26 And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved? 27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men [it is] impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. [Mat 22:36-39] 36 Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [Mat 7:21-23] 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
LUKE 18 18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, “Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 19 And Jesus said unto him, “Why callest thou me good? None is good, save one, that is, God.” 20 “Thou knowest the commandments, do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, do not bear false witness, honor thy father and thy mother.” 21 And he said, “All these have I kept from my youth up.” 22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, “Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.” 23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. 24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, “How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the Kingdom of God!” 25 “For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God.” 26 And they that heard it said, “Who then can be saved?” 27 And he said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
“And when He was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to Him, and asked Him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” The young man who asked this question was a ruler. He had great possessions, and occupied a position of responsibility. He saw the love that Christ manifested toward the children brought to Him; he saw how tenderly He received them, and took them up in His arms, and his heart kindled with love for the Saviour. He felt a desire to be His disciple. He was so deeply moved that as Christ was going on His way, he ran after Him, and kneeling at His feet, asked with sincerity and earnestness the question so important to his soul and to the soul of every human being, “Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”
