Hebrews 12:1-2 1   Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,  2   Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.  2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 

Jeremiah 32:1-15 1   The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.  2   For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah's house.  3   For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;  4   And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;  5   And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper.  6   And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,  7   Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is thine to buy it.  8   So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.  9   And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle's son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.  10   And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.  11   So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open:  12   And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.  13   And I charged Baruch before them, saying,  14   Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.  15   For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.  John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.  2 Corinthians 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.  Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 

2 Timothy 2:20-21 20   But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.  21   If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.  Ephesians 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;  Acts 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:  2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 

Acts 2:1-29 1   And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.  2   And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  3   And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.  4   And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.  5   And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.  6   Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.  7   And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?  8   And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?  9   Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,  10    Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,  11   Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.  12   And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?  13    Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.  14   But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:  15   For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.  16   But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;  17   And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:  18   And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:  19   And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:  20   The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:  21   And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.  22   Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:  23   Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:  24   Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.  25   For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:  26   Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:  27   Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.  28   Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.  29   Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. 

Luke 15:11-24 11   And he said, A certain man had two sons:  12   And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.  13   And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.  14   And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.  15   And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.  16   And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.  17   And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!  18   I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,  19   And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.  20   And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.  21   And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.  22   But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:  23   And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:  24   For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. 

Mark 10:17-25 17   And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?  18   And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.  19   Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.  20   And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.  21   Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.  22   And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.  23   And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!  24   And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!  25   It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.   

2 Corinthians 5:1-9 1   For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.  2   For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:  3   If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.  4   For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.  5   Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.  6   Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:  7   (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)  8   We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.  9   Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.  1 Corinthians 15:25-26 25   For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.  26   The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.  Matthew 17:2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.  1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.  1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,  John 14:2-3 2   In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  3   And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 

Ecclesiastes 11:9-10 9   Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.  10   Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.  Ecclesiastes 1:2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.  Ecclesiastes 12:1-14 1   Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;  2   While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:  3   In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,  4   And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;  5   Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:  6   Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.  7   Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.  8   Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.  9   And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.  10   The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.  11   The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.  12   And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.  13   Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.  14   For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. 

1 Peter 5:2-4 2   Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;  3   Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.  4   And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.  1 Peter 2:25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.  John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.  Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,  Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 

Acts 11:19-26 19   Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.  20   And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.  21   And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.  22   Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.  23   Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.  24   For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.  25   Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:  26   And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.  Acts 15:36-41 36   And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.  37   And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.  38   But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.  39   And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;  40   And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.  41   And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches. 

Acts 4:32-37 32   And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.  33   And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.  34   Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,  35   And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.  36   And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,  37   Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.  Numbers 13 Acts 9:22-27 22   But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.  23   And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:  24   But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.  25   Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.  26   And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.  27   But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. 

Matthew 17:14-21 14   And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,  15   Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.  16   And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.  17   Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.  18   And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.  19   Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?  20   And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.  21   Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.  2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) 

Psalms 3:1-8 1   A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. Selah.  2 Samuel 16:8 The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.  Psalms 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.  Philippians 4:6-7 6   Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  7   And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 13   But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.  14   For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.  15   For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  16   For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  17   Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  18   Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 

Judges 7:1-25 1   Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.  2   And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.  3   Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.  4   And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.  5   So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.  6   And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.  7   And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.  8   So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.  9   And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.  10   But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host:  11   And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.  12   And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.  13   And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.  14   And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.  15   And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.  16   And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.  17   And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do.  18   When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.  19   So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.  20   And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.  21   And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.  22   And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath.  23   And the men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the Midianites.  24   And Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, Come down against the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan.  25   And they took two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb upon the rock Oreb, and Zeeb they slew at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side Jordan.  1 Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;  John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Joshua 7:1-26 1   But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.  2   And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east side of Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.  3   And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.  4   So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.  5   And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.  6   And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.  7   And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!  8   O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!  9   For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?  10   And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?  11   Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.  12   Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.  13   Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.  14   In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man.  15   And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.  16   So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:  17   And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken:  18   And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.  19   And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.  20   And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:  21   When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.  22   So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.  23   And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD.  24   And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.  25   And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.  26   And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day. 

2 Corinthians 11:12-14, 22-33 12   But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.  13   For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.  14   And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.  22   Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.  23   Are they ministers of Christ? Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.  Jude 1:13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.  Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. 

Matthew 7:13-14 13   Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:  14   Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 

Psalms 143:1-12 1   A Psalm of David. Joshua 6:18-19 18   And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.  19   But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.  Joshua 7:1-26 1   But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.  2   And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east side of Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.  3   And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.  4   So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.  5   And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.  6   And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.  7   And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!  8   O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!  9   For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?  10   And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?  11   Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.  12   Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.  13   Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.  14   In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man.  15   And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.  16   So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:  17   And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken:  18   And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.  19   And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.  20   And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:  21   When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.  22   So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.  23   And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD.  24   And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.  25   And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.  26   And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.   

Titus 2:13-15 13   Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;  14   Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.  15   These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. 

Isaiah 40:28-31 28   Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.  29   He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.  30   Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:  31   But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.  Ephesians 6

John 9:1-41 1   And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.  2   And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?  3   Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.  4   I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.  5   As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.  6   When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,  7   And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.  8   The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?  9   Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.  10   Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?  11   He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.  12   Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.  13   They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.  14   And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.  15   Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.  16   Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.  17   They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.  18   But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.  19   And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?  20   His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:  21   But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.  22   These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.  23   Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.  24   Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.  25    He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.  26   Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?  27   He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?  28   Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.  29   We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.  30   The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.  31   Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.  32   Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.  33   If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.  34   They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.  35   Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?  36   He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?  37   And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.  38   And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.  39   And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.  40   And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?  41   Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.   

Romans 16:19-20 19   For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.  20   And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.  Romans 16:25-27 25   Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,  26   But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:  27   To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Exodus 34:27-35 27   And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.  28   And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.  29   And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.  30   And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him.  31   And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them.  32   And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in mount Sinai.  33   And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face.  34   But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded.  35   And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him. 

James 3:1-12 1   My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.  2   For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.  3   Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.  4   Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.  5   Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!  6   And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.  7   For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:  8   But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.  9   Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.  10   Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.  11   Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?  12   Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.  Proverbs 17:28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.  James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 

John 4:21-24 21   Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.  22   Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.  23   But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.  24   God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.  Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.   

Nehemiah 6:1-14 1   Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)  2   That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.  3   And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?  4   Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.  5   Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;  6   Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.  7   And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.  8   Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.  9   For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.  10   Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.  11   And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.  12   And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.  13   Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.  14   My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear. 

Proverbs 3:19-24 19   The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.  20   By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.  21   My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:  22   So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.  23   Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.  24   When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. 

Esther 4:1-17 1   When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;  2   And came even before the king's gate: for none might enter into the king's gate clothed with sackcloth.  3   And in every province, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.  4   So Esther's maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received it not.  5   Then called Esther for Hatach, one of the king's chamberlains, whom he had appointed to attend upon her, and gave him a commandment to Mordecai, to know what it was, and why it was.  6   So Hatach went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which was before the king's gate.  7   And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king's treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.  8   Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.  9   And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.  10   Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;  11   All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.  12   And they told to Mordecai Esther's words.  13   Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.  14   For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?  15   Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,  16   Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.  17   So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him. 

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 24   Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.  25   And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.  26   I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:  27   But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Notes:  2 Thessalonians 2:1-17 1   Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,  2   That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.  3   Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;  4   Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.  5   Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?  6   And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.  7   For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.  8   And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:  9   Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,  10   And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.  11   And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:  12   That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.  13   But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:  14   Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.  15   Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.  16   Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,  17   Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.  John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.  1 Corinthians 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.  Matthew 24:10-12 10   And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.  11   And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.  12   And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 

Notes:  1 Corinthians 3:16-17 16   Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?  17   If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.  2 Corinthians 6:14-18 14   Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?  15   And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?  16   And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.  17   Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,  18   And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.  Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.  2 Timothy 2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 

Notes:  John 14:1-6 1   Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  2   In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  3   And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.  4   And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.  5   Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?  6   Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  Daniel 9:24-27 24   Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.  25   Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.  26   And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.  27   And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.  Revelation 19:7-10 7   Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.  8   And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.  9   And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.  10   And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.  Revelation 19:17-18 17   And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;  18   That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.  Revelation 19:11-15 11   And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.  12    His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.  13   And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.  14   And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.  15   And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  Revelation 21:1-4 1   And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.  2   And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.  3   And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.  4   And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.  Revelation 22:3-5 3   And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:  4   And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.  5   And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
