Send us a textAs the metalcore world continues to thrive on its past and push forward into new territory, few bands walk that line more masterfully than August Burns Red. The Grammy-nominated heavyweights recently made a powerful appearance on The Barn's very own Vulgar Display of Podcast, where drummer Matt Greiner joined the conversation to dive into the band's legacy, relentless touring schedule, and their latest massive undertaking — a full re-recording of their iconic debut Thrill Seeker. And as fate would have it, the timing couldn't be better. ABR is set to join Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine on The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour 2025, which hits The Factory STL in St. Louis on Saturday, April 19. The tour celebrates the 20th anniversary of both Ascendancy and The Poison, with each band performing their breakout records in full. With Bleed From Within also on the bill, it's a stacked night of explosive metal — and ABR is bringing the heat. But the fire doesn't stop on stage. The band is marking 20 years of Thrill Seeker with a complete re-recording of the album, this time featuring longtime frontman Jake Luhrs on vocals — a longtime dream finally realized. The anniversary edition drops January 24 via ABR Records, packed with upgraded production from Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland, and features guest spots from Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz and former ABR vocalist Josh McManness. Plus, the bonus track “Pride & Humility” gets a proper reimagining. Known for their tight musicianship, complex structures, and emotionally rich themes, August Burns Red has carved out a space uniquely their own — what Kerrang! once described as "thrillingly empathetic." Whether tearing up stages across the globe with Parkway Drive and Bring Me the Horizon, or dominating headlining tours celebrating albums like Constellations and Leveler, ABR has proven time and time again that they're built to last.

We had the pleasure of interviewing ERRA over Zoom video! Prolific metalcore progressives ERRA have dropped the deluxe version of their latest album S/T, viia UNFD. The expanded edition of S/T is beefed up with seven additional tracks, including a feature from Spiritbox's Courtney LaPlante, along with three covers. The material on the deluxe has been praised by Loudwire, Rock Sound, Knotfest, Riff, and more. With touring off the table for most of 2021, the band found other means of creative outlet, and opted to re-enter the studio with producers Carson and Grant around the time of the release of what would go on to become their career-defining self titled album. On that album, the band confronted depression, anxiety, and desperation throughout. They took listeners on a near-out-of-body journey to Aokigahara, the infamous Suicide Forest of Japan; into episodic storytelling that would make Black Mirror writers proud; and into the literary works of Cormac McCarthy and Hubert Selby Jr. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland, it served as a definitive mission statement for the band, the members of which are already well-respected players revered for their inspiring technicality and raw, natural talent. The deluxe edition builds upon that foundation. ERRA have also released a new mini-documentary. The footage was filmed in January 2021 when the band was recording the new songs and offers a deeper insight into their process and the artistic choices they made regarding the additional material and cover songs on the deluxe edition. Watch it here ERRA will return to the road this spring with Beartooth, Silverstein, and The Devil Wears Prada We want to hear from you! We're going to the great state of Pennsylvania today! We're going to visit a band called Circle of Sanity. They have a combined array of styles. They were brought together by faith friends and a little luck. Ever since then, they've been writing new material, performing songs, and all written by individual members before they got together. Now, they've got this great gig and they're playing shows locally and regionally – they've done everything from 50 seats to a thousand seats. Leaving with an overwhelmingly positive response from the audience. Today, we're going to chat with Josh Sapna, the band's guitarist and vocalist. Let's get to know him more, what he enjoys aside from music, his approach to songwriting, and of course listen to some of their great music from the EP: Celestial Mechanics. Listen to Break the Silence, Mortal Coil, and Ride on. Don't forget to check on other music that they have as well on your favorite platform. We've got some pretty heavy music coming up with Circle of Sanity! More about Josh Sapna Circle of Sanity: Josh Sapna – guitars and vocals; Carson Slovak – bass Grant McFarland – drums. Make sure to check out and support Josh Sapna and his band, Circle of Sanity. All the band's social media links are provided below. Quotes: 03:40 We always thought we got together to jam that was where we got our sanity back and escaped from everything, and that became our circle. There you have it. It was born “the circle of sanity.” 11:48 Books left open to interpretation, which I do on purpose. Yeah, so my songs, I don't want to be too definite in the meanings, because I want more people to be able to apply their own life and experience to it. 51:36 The number one thing and I have always said is this. Never. There's never been a time that I sat down to write a song and said, Will other people like this? Not once. The only question in my mind is at the end of it? Do I like it? when I buy this would I be impressed with it? and I don't know if that sounds selfish. But that's really the only way you can stay true to yourself is to not worry at all about what anyone else is going to think of it.
