Interview by Angela CroudaceAfter more than two decades as one of metalcore's most respected bands, August Burns Red are finally heading back to Australia this September, and drummer Matt Greiner says the excitement from fans has been overwhelming. Speaking ahead of the tour, Greiner revealed Australia will be the first country to experience a full headline run celebrating the band's upcoming album Season Of Surrender.Greiner admitted the response to the announcement caught him off guard, comparing it to the excitement the band experienced when first touring internationally in the late 2000s. “It felt like that level of excitement again,” he shared, reflecting on the flood of messages from Australian fans eager to welcome the band back after such a long absence. The veteran drummer also opened up about how surreal it feels to still be connecting with audiences after 23 years. These days, Greiner is not only performing to longtime supporters, but also teaching drum lessons to the children of fans who grew up with August Burns Red. He described it as both humbling and rewarding to see the band's music continuing to inspire a new generation of heavy music fans.Family was another major topic during the conversation, with Greiner speaking warmly about balancing life on the road with being a father. He praised his wife for supporting the demanding touring lifestyle and shared how much it means to have his family behind him while continuing to chase opportunities around the world.Matt also expressed excitement about touring alongside rising Australian acts Bloom and I Promise The World, explaining that helping younger bands grow is something he deeply values. Looking ahead to September, he promised Australian crowds energetic shows, genuine fan interaction and a celebration of the connection that has kept August Burns Red thriving for more than two decades.Check out the full interview for plenty more...Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Bring Me The Horizon (Count Your Blessings), My Chemical Romance (The Black Parade), Green Day (American Idiot/Dookie), Billy Talent (Billy Talent 2) und viele weitere haben es kürzlich oder werden es demnächst tun.
Most bands start faltering after a decade + in the game—unless they're on this episode! Lets jump into the latest metalcore heaters from August Burns Red, Haste the Day, Impending Doom, and Idle Threat! We also explore the world of AI-generated bands and overly graphic and violent art in Christian metal. Revealing how technology might reshape the scene—good or bad.

Send us a textAs the metalcore world continues to thrive on its past and push forward into new territory, few bands walk that line more masterfully than August Burns Red. The Grammy-nominated heavyweights recently made a powerful appearance on The Barn's very own Vulgar Display of Podcast, where drummer Matt Greiner joined the conversation to dive into the band's legacy, relentless touring schedule, and their latest massive undertaking — a full re-recording of their iconic debut Thrill Seeker. And as fate would have it, the timing couldn't be better. ABR is set to join Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine on The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour 2025, which hits The Factory STL in St. Louis on Saturday, April 19. The tour celebrates the 20th anniversary of both Ascendancy and The Poison, with each band performing their breakout records in full. With Bleed From Within also on the bill, it's a stacked night of explosive metal — and ABR is bringing the heat. But the fire doesn't stop on stage. The band is marking 20 years of Thrill Seeker with a complete re-recording of the album, this time featuring longtime frontman Jake Luhrs on vocals — a longtime dream finally realized. The anniversary edition drops January 24 via ABR Records, packed with upgraded production from Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland, and features guest spots from Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz and former ABR vocalist Josh McManness. Plus, the bonus track “Pride & Humility” gets a proper reimagining. Known for their tight musicianship, complex structures, and emotionally rich themes, August Burns Red has carved out a space uniquely their own — what Kerrang! once described as "thrillingly empathetic." Whether tearing up stages across the globe with Parkway Drive and Bring Me the Horizon, or dominating headlining tours celebrating albums like Constellations and Leveler, ABR has proven time and time again that they're built to last.

The Central Pennsylvania Music Hall of Fame is a multi-room museum of autographed albums, guitars, and so much more. Brandon Valentine, Executive Director and Founder of the Central Pa Music Hall of Fame, opened the museum in 2023. “You’ll see the plaques on the walls with pictures of the artists, you know, their summaries of their accomplishments, their resumes, if you will, of the members who are currently in the Hall of Fame, of which there are 35 members already in the Hall of Fame from 2019 to current voted in. And then, you know, in the other rooms, there's a lot of autographed guitars…We have guitars from Bret Michaels from Mechanicsburg, as well as Taylor Swift from Wyomissing here.” There are a few things that go into consideration when an artist is nominated into a class hall of fame. The class is measured by album sales, Grammy nominations, and gold/ platinum records. “There's a couple of big names from our area, you know, who have already been inducted. Bret Michaels live, your hailstorm breaking, Benjamin and so forth. This year, we're inducting Grammy nominees, August Burns Red from the Lancaster area. So, a lot of those, you know, have accomplished big things in the more recent past, and done large tours. But then you look, and you look at some of the other acts. For example, Pentagon, you know, they did a lot of original. Music at the start of their career, they toured all over. Did a lot of the casino scenes and were kind of a regional band, you know, up and down the East Coast. But they've been around for over 50 years, so a lot of different factors go into play. But ultimately, we're trying to recognize the best of the best from all time in our area. And that's really what it boils down to.” The Central Pa Music Hall of Fame is located at 1215 W End Ave, Hummelstown Pa, 17036. You can take a FREE self-guided tour from 7am-3pm. Gary and Tyler dive deep into the latest releases from the heavy music scene. The episode kicks off with a discussion about Lakeview's latest album, which features a guitarist with Christian hardcore roots. The hosts are split over its autotuned sound but highlight the involvement of Cody from Wage War, who helped write and produce the album, adding an interesting twist to the country rock vibes. The main attraction is August Burns Red's new single "Exhumed." The hosts are thrilled that the band returned to their roots, delivering a heavy, classic metalcore sound with chunky guitar riffs and powerful breakdowns. This new track evokes nostalgia for August Burns Red's earlier work, and the hosts can't help but wonder if the band will play it as an encore at Furnace Fest. Another highlight comes from the band Underoath, who dropped a new track, "Teeth." While it strays from their traditional metalcore style and flirts with electronic influences, Tyler appreciates the genre-bending, while Gary struggles with the shift. The episode also features music from up-and-coming Christian metal acts like Floodgate, Forthteller, and Take, showcasing their intense spirit-filled hardcore anthems. The hosts encourage listeners to check out these fresh releases, predicting that these bands will become household names in the Christian metal community. The hosts end on a note of gratitude, celebrating the tight-knit community of Christian metal enthusiasts who engage with their content and provide invaluable feedback. On this week's episode of Artist Friendly, Joel Madden is joined by HARDY. Growing up in the small town of Philadelphia, Mississippi, HARDY was introduced to heavy music in high school. Soon, he fell in love with nü metal and metalcore, including System of a Down, Linkin Park, and August Burns Red. It's all culminated in an overlap of country and hardcore within his own music, where HARDY has scratched out a unique space. His 2023 album, the mockingbird & THE CROW, was split into two halves — country and hard rock — the latter featuring a collaboration with A Day to Remember's Jeremy McKinnon. Since then, it's hit No. 1 on the Top Country Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Top Hard Rock Albums charts and rose to No. 4 on the Billboard 200.
