It's great to reconnect with the guys from The Funeral Portrait. All the boys came by: singer Lee Jennings, guitarists Cody Weissinger and Caleb Freihaut, with bassist Robert Weston, and drummer Homer Umbanhower. Their album Greetings From Suffacate City is about to turn one on September 13th, and it's been a whirlwind year for the boys. From a tour with Five Finger Death Punch and Marilyn Manson, to this summer's tour with Ice Nine Kills. Before their show locally, they swung by the station to speak with me about everything TFP. You can watch the conversation in the link above. I met the guys for the first time last year as we visited Eloise Insane Asylum. You can hear the audio that was captured here. New Music From The Funeral Portrait "A little baby bit...we have less than a handful of stuff" was how Caleb described the progress on new music from the band. He said that they've been pounding the road so hard they haven't had a chance to start on anything new. "We have a small amount, but what we have is exciting." He went on to say it has to be bigger than "Greetings". Lee chimed in, "It has to be next-level because of the tours we've done." He said they're playing to so many new people each night that new fans are discovering the album. Working With Ivan Moody on "Holy Water The song 'Holy Water' was released as a single pre-COVID. When they went to re-release the song earlier this year, Ivan Moody from Five Finger Death Punch told the guys he wanted to be on the track. "It just so happens that Ivan liked the song. And he wanted to be on it. It was kind of a magical, weird moment of him being "I want to help this band out. I like them. They're cool, they're different, they're young." Kind of like a torch passing moment, and it just worked." The guys were nice enough to bring their guitars, so they busted out two songs for us. Their next single is "Dark Thoughts" and "Holy Water". They also talked about how welcoming the INK band and their fans have been to them. And get this, they're heading off on a European tour this fall. I want them to take me with them!! The boys have had an amazing year, and I wish them nothing but the best moving forward! I'm a fan!

Let's help you over that hump! I'm off to Madison later today to see Ice Nine Kills & Dayseeker at the Sylvee. Looking forward to a quick night out on the town. In the news this morning, Vice President JD Vance is coming to La Crosse tomorrow, Ryan Borgwardt was sentenced for faking his own death & fleeing the country, a recall on Hostess Ding Dongs, Cracker Barrel caves to the pressure and goes back to the original logo, and of course…the news of the day…the week…the year…it's the engagement of Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce. In sports, the Brewers walked-off the Diamonbacks last night, MLB released it's 2026 schedule, a look at this week's NCAA football line-up, and Willson Contreras gets suspended. Elsewhere in sports, Becky Lynch said some disparaging things about Ozzy's hometown and now Kelly Osbourne is PISSED! The NCAA & Venmo have teamed up to try and end athlete abuse from gamblers, Caitlin Clark gets her very own NIKE logo, and a guy in Tennessee named "Babe Ruth" is in trouble for trying to submit phony claims in class action lawsuits. A recent survey found that 33% of people have NEVER stolen toiletries from a hotel. And another 33% of people would support sending the National Guard to their hometown to clean things up. We let you know what's on TV today/tonight and discussed a list of the best fart scenes in the movies. A woman in Australia posted a video of her mailman taking her laundry off the line when it began to rain while he was delivering her mail, and a dude dug through 20 tons of trash & sludge to find his wife's lost wedding ring. We discussed the hot, new exercise "trend", and an interesting story about Esports professionals talking to kids about trying to become a professional gamer. In today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about Google A.I. giving out incorrect restaurant specials, the Orgy Dome at Burning Man got damaged and won't be available for the music festival, an EXTREMELY drunk Iowa woman is in trouble for trying to get random people to blow into her interlock device at a gas station, a guy who set a restaurant on fire after they ran out of mayo, and a woman in Russian who had to go to the hospital after a giant cucumber got stuck in her ass.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Heavy emphasis on the “hanging” as the podcast this week finds Dewsbury suffering from a fairly sizeable hangover. Unsurprisingly - and rightly so - Moose has precisely zero sympathy. Appropriately enough, they do end up discussing the imminent release of Primordial's Dirty Panda spiced rum, even though the thought of it makes Dews feel quite ill. The rock news this week includes details of Pendulum's long-awaited new album and live dates, Iron Maiden kicking off their 50th anniversary tour with a truly astonishingly good setlist, and a remarkable story about how a family's decision to attend a Metallica concert may have saved their lives. The conversation shifts to Metallica's ongoing M72 World Tour and the business dynamics behind it, including the freedom - and responsibilities - that come with being a major band. The guys also touch on Ice Nine Kills' controversial use of AI art for plugging their recent merch sale, raising questions about the implications of AI in the creative industry. This marks his third account taken down, what's going on?Meanwhile, Ice Nine Kills are in hot water with fans for allegedly using AI to design a merch promo and their sarcastic response didn't help. Is AI killing creativity in the scene?Plus, The All-American Rejects are going full DIY and taking over backyards, bowling alleys, and even house parties with secret pop-up shows across the country. Why are fans saying this is how live music should be?We also talk about the growing trend of fans going into debt just to attend concerts, is it worth it?

Metal mayhem and festival tales dominate as we break down the Sonic Temple experience from start to finish. After four years of podcasting (an eternity in the podcast world!), we're celebrating episode 172 with a deep dive into what makes a great metal festival.Sonic Temple emerges as the clear winner when compared to Inkcarceration, offering flat ground instead of treacherous hills, better spacing between stages, and perfect timing weather-wise. The lineup delivered serious firepower with Ice Nine Kills crushing their set, Bullet For My Valentine sounding album-perfect, and Whitechapel demonstrating why they're considered death metal royalty. Even unexpected acts like ICP drew massive crowds, though some veterans like Rob Zombie showed their age with winded performances and partial lyrics.Beyond festival talk, we explore Cedar Point's surprising new comedy shows and take a musical journey through bands you might not know yet but absolutely should. From Russian mathcore outfit Ape on the Rocket to Italian metalcore group Burning Hayes, we unearth hidden gems that deserve spots on your playlist. Each discovery fuels our appreciation for the endless creativity in the metal scene. After 172 episodes, we're still passionate about sharing the music and movies we love. Whether you're here for the bands, the banter, or the bizarre tangents, we appreciate you joining our metal-fueled conversations. Check out these bands, let us know what you think, and join us next week for more mayhem.Send us a text message and let us know how awesome we are! The Wolf & Action Jackson are so happy to be able to share the story of Night 2 of Metallica in Nashville on Saturday, May 3. While the first night of the No Repeat Weekend was great, including the opening acts Suicidal Tendencies and Pantera, Saturday, May 3, 2025 was a special night in the boys lives as friends, fans and concert goers. Though their seats were solid on Thursday Night, the setlist wasn't white hot and the surroundings went downhill as the night progressed. However, through working some connections the boys were upgraded to a suite on Saturday night. And not just any suite, the Owners Suite - a double box on the 50 yard line, fully catered with an open bar, and easy chair seats that sat just back from the open windows. That experience alone would make it a special night. But the fact that there was a lightning strike within 8 miles of the stadium which necessitated clearing everyone out of their seats and off the field while delaying Metallica's set by more than 30 minutes, it made for a stress free night with great people. We shared stories with folks we'd just met, learned about the new rooftop stadium being built next door, got an early gander at the setlist and enjoyed Metallica themed cocktails until the boys came on around 9:30. Hear all about the odd and bloody openers Ice Nine Kills and how amped Fred Durst got the crowd during Limp Bizkit's set. The boys compare the setlists and favor Saturday's over Thursday's easily and, as a courtesy to Metallica, discuss how they would improve the setlist. Listen up for on stage banter from James Hetfield on a truly special night for 2 old metalheads. Join Lee and I as we catch up with him while the band was in the midst of their tour. Lee and I share some pleasantries from mutual friends of ours, and get into an interview he had done on Good Company with Bowling a few years prior and how I realized that the songs he was working on at the time were what would become "Welcome To Suffocate City". We get into how there was an obvious shift in how Lee and the rest of the band were taking their careers at that point, how that process was being on a developmental deal at the time when a lot of their contemporaries were being dropped and sticking to their guns in seeing their vision through. Lee also shares how impactful coming up in Atlanta was for the band in crafting a sound that is just as much a melting pot of influences as the city itself, as well as offering ample opportunities for him to learn the ins and outs of the music industry from working at local venues, touring with other bands as a Tour Manager, driver doing whatever it took to realize the dream of making music his career. MUSIC A bunch of Brantley Gilbert fans in Tupelo, Mississippi got to be part of a VERY special moment Friday night. He had to run offstage in the middle of his concert when his wife Amber went into LABOR on his TOUR BUS. He posted a video where he stops the show for some sort of emergency. Then it cuts to him calling his mom to tell her she's got a new GRANDSON. His name is Abram Howell Gilbert. Ice Nine Kills have released a new single, "A Work Of Art," from the film Terrifier 3. And it comes with a 14-minute music video -- which has a graphic content warning because of all the blood that's spilled, and is on YouTube now.  Sammy Hagar's 2015 custom-designed one-of-a-kind La Ferrari sold at auction Saturday. He bought the car for $1.6 million, but it sold for $4.25 million Saturday at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona -- $1.25 million more than he was hoping for. Taking the stage, he talked about the car only having 1100 miles and how it was "too much car" for him as it's overpowering. He added that he never hit its top speed of 217 miles-per-hour, and that it's "not a La Ferrari, it's THE Ferrari." Weezer one of the first music groups to have a presence in Fortnite, opening a "Weezer World" in 2019. They are back, and this time they're part of an open-world crime simulator game called Sweat(er) City that's inspired by The Blue Album. The features in the game include being able to use a weaponized guitar that plays the "Buddy Holly," a battle with Rivers Cuomo using a sweater yarn stun gun and a blue wall where players can snap selfies to recreate the album cover. Check out a trailer for the game on YouTube. TV Jake Paul has issued a $5 million challenge to heavyweight legend Mike Tyson ahead of their November 15th bout. MOVING ON INTO MOVIE NEWS: Terrifier 3, featuring the bloody carnage of Art the Clown, came in first at the box office, pulling in $18 million during its first weekend of release. Spider-Man actor Tom Holland announced that he's launching a new line of non-alcoholic beer called Bero. AND FINALLY Google Trends released their annual collection of the top trending searches for this year's Halloween season . . . or, as they call it, the Frightgeist. Here are the Top 10 overall costumes:   1. Shrunken Head Bob from "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" (He's actually called "Shrinker Bob".)  2. Raygun, the Australian breakdancer extraordinaire  3. CatNap from the horror video game "Poppy Playtime"  4. Delores from "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice"  5. Pomni from "The Amazing Digital Circus"  6. Envy from "Inside Out"  7. Red from "Descendants: The Rise of Red"  8. Dr. Doom  9. Sabrina Carpenter  10. Lady Deadpool AND THAT IS YOUR CRAP ON CELEBRITIES!
