Kiwi Charlie Wallace wanted to be successful playing the guitar one way or another and has succeeded in more than one way. Wallace dropped out of school in favour of creating an online guitar lesson website, ‘Guitar Mastery Method', which kicked off in 2014 and has taught over 1.7 million guitarists over the last decade. The success of GMM allowed Wallace to work towards his other dream: becoming the lead guitarist of a successful rock band. In 2018 Black Smoke Trigger was formed, releasing their first EP in 2019, which grabbed the attention of some major names in the industry. This has all lead to the release of their first album ‘Horizons', which Wallace told Mike Hosking is putting a stamp into the world of who they are as a band. Bailey and the Bad Habits are a Red Dirt Country/ Southern Rock band from Waxahachie, TX. Formed in 2020 with influences that span all genres and decades, they have found a sound that borders on the edge of country, blues and rock. The music is written by frontman, Derek Bailey who uses his life experience to write authentic songs about Love and War. Lead Guitarist, Brett Barr, brings a bluesy rock tone to the band that ties the sound together with emotional, improvised guitar. The beat comes from energetic drummer, Matt Brodeur, who is sure to make each performance lively. The heartbeat of the band is a thumping bassline played by Andrew Whitely. All aspects together deliver a sound and feeling that will fill venues of all sizes. Bailey and the Bad Habits have a very wide range of influence, including Whiskey Myers, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Blackberry Smoke, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Hank Williams Jr. Pat Green, John Anderson and many, many more. Established in 2019, kiwi band 'NO CIGAR' has already found massive success on a world stage. They toured the Northern Hemisphere in 2023, playing headline shows in the UK and France before dropping back home to play the festival circuit over summer. Self-described as 'semi-rock', the band recently released their sophomore album 'The Great Escape', a coinciding tour taking place from December through to February. When it comes to overseas tours, Lead Guitarist Josh Morrice told Tim Dower that they didn't really know what they were getting into. "We kind of just thought, let's give it a crack." They knew they had fans throughout Europe and the UK, but didn't expect to sell out shows in Amsterdam and London. "London sold out three times, which was pretty, pretty spectacular and pretty amazing to kind of have that happen on our first time." Morrice said that selling out these shows was validating. "It feels like we're doing the right things, and we just need to keep doing it." LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jeff “Skunk” Baxter has been called ‘the most interesting man in music' by NPR and it's not hard to figure out why. A virtuoso guitar player and member of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, Skunk is a founding member of the iconic Steely Dan, and later joined The Doobie Brothers, bringing his friend Michael McDonald into the band as their new lead singer, leading to the height of their commercial success. His playing on songs like “Rikki Don't Lose That Number” and “What A Fool Believes” are just two stellar examples of his work with those groups. As an in-demand session player, Jeff's guitar work can be heard all over all-time iconic classics like the solos on Donna Summer's “Bad Girls” & “Hot Stuff;” Dolly Parton's “9 To 5” and classics by Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart and Joni Mitchell. On top of all that, Jeff is also a ballistic missile defense specialist and a counter-terrorism expert who works as a consultant for the US Department of Defense - shattering the stereotype of your typical Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame guitar player.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

California's VoidCeremony are readying their second full length Threads Of Unknowing (20 Buck Spin) and if you dabbled with their debut, then you already know we're all going to be in for a hectic black and death metal ride. With this band, it's far more than just those two genres, the way they cross the chasm with their music is akin to the old style of jazz improv which to some says prog but to us it's just...massive. Just ahead of the album's release, Buke spoke to mastermind, vocalist and lead guitarist Garrett Johnson about the album, how it came to be, some band history, and so much more. We now bring you this conversation in its entirety so grab your beverage of choice, a seat, and enjoy. 9C LINKS: Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram.

When it comes to customs, there is a fine line between getting it right, and getting it oh-so wrong. We've all seen what happens when design goes South, but what about the ones that nail it? The cars that, when you first see them, you immediately think, “ICON”. A little more than a decade ago, Papa Roach Lead Guitarist, Jerry Horton unveiled “Reprise”, his 1951 Mercury Custom. It was built by Max Fish of Bio Kustumz, and unbeknownst to them at the time, “Reprise” turned out to be one of the most elegant and handsome Mercury customs in existence. On this episode of the Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ podcast, Jerry Horton sits down and talks with Mike Musto about his unbelievable career, what it's like to play in front of over 350,000 people, and then, how his stunner of a 1951 Merc came to life.
Pastor Jim Crews sits down with Brian "Head" Welch, Lead Guitarist of the legendary metal band, Korn, to have a conversation about his journey of faith and the transformative power of God.
Texas is known for a lot of things, and metal is one of those things. San Antonio in particular is home to none other than melodic black / death metallers Scars Of The Flesh who are about to release their third full length In Darkness Alone (pick it up here). Debut Harvest Of Souls was a barnburner and follow up Reaching Into The Void was a projectile of incendiary violence that far eclipsed the debut in many ways. In Darkness Alone stands to be the album that truly puts this band on the map with five brand spanking new tracks alongside four amazing cover songs that the band truly makes their own. Buke sat down with lead guitarist Bryan Eckermann, rhythm guitarist Derek Russell, and vocalist Kobey Lange to discuss the new album, how it came to be, and so much more. We now bring you this conversation in its entirety so grab your beverage of choice, a seat, and enjoy. 9C LINKS: Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram

Welcome to part 3 of my interview with Brandon Daily. Brandon was the Lead Guitarist of our band, Vangaard. On the road for several years, all over the country and around the world, we experienced our dream of being in a band and playing for countless numbers. We saw people give their hearts to Christ. We saw many find their calling to be missionaries around the world. Yet for both of us, after doing such work for God, had to go through our own personal doubts and hurts, in order to find our true identities in Christ. For us, the release of God's power in both our lives, made the ultimate difference. What we could not achieve through our own self effort, was easily broken when God's word and power was released over us. From there we both began to understand better how prayer is not just about us asking God for things, but a mechanism for us coming into alignment with what our Father is saying and doing. We've discovered a blue print for life, real and rich in power and revelation. And it's for you too. Hear the song "Frenzy" in part 1 of this interview. Yet for both of us, after doing such work for God, had to go through our own personal doubts and hurts, in order to find our true identities in Christ. After the band broke up, a few years later, Brandon and I started working on an album together. But for reasons we won't focus on here, we had to stop and the album we wanted to release, never saw fruition. But... it is a great delight, in this episode, to share the recording of one of our songs, Frenzy, in all it's raw glory! It is a reflection of the song writing process we worked through together. Below you will find the lyrics and can follow along. Frenzy, very much encapsulates the overall story of Brandon's walking through the smoke of various addictions, doubts and self hatred. But through it all, he was able to find great mercy and great love, in Christ. Join me for this powerful, three part series. You'll be glad you did! Frenzy Drums, Bass Guitar, Rhythm and Lead Guitars : Brandon Daily Acoustic Guitar, Lyrics/Vocals: Jim (Vince) Campagna The heat rises as smoke fills the room A haze of unbelief darkens the light Hundreds of bodies packed closely together move in rhythmic Frenzy Like fish in a net but we don't know we're caught Tired lives pour from empty wineskins Pass of time faith is dry and we don't have it left to give There is something I am hoping for Something screaming there is something more My candle is burning at both ends I know it's all worth fighting for The shattered pieces of our broken lives Are spread across the floor Like Humpty Dumpty we have had a great fall Off of self made walls Here comes the Horsemen and the King To put us together again Clash of minds as world's collide And all our doubts are tumbling around Some will yield and some will fight Before this Frenzy settles down Music and Foley: www. freesound.org Intro/Outro Music: Perspective by Jim (Vince) Campagna Send a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jim-vince/message --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jim-vince/message

Heart. Grit. Scott Stevens likes the way those words roll off his tongue. “It's all about being able to flourish in your own skin,” says Stevens, whose forthcoming debut album, Every Hat Is A Cowboy Hat, is a master class in what happens when a musician leans into his natural-bred confidence and emotion. “Sometimes you gotta double down, step off the ledge and trust whatever it is you trust,” Stevens says of putting his entirety into his music. “The heart of me is somehow split in equal parts rock and roll, soul, and country music,” Stevens says of his lyrically forthright and groove-centric sound. “At its core though, it's just stories in rhythmic form.” Ultimately, Stevens says he's most proud of his unique artistry being unabashedly him. In his eyes, when you're drawing from a well of sincerity as he does on his album, genre is secondary. To that end, Stevens' music is ripe to appeal to rock fans or country fans or frankly anyone who appreciates the uncontrollable urge to nod to the beat. “People that don't think they like country music need to listen to this,” he offers bluntly. “And for the people that don't think it's country music, well, to that I say, ‘Every hat is a cowboy hat if you're a real cowboy.' Scott graduated from Alabama University with a law degree. In addition to his music career, he puts on a legal hat as a criminal defense attorney. He told Whiskey Riff in a recent story about his new album, “Though I'm blessed to suit up and do my thing as an attorney, my dream has always been to support my family with my music.” He says, “I remember starting a job right after graduation and thinking that it was just the most boring thing ever. I looked at the girl I was dating (who is now my wife, Katie), and I said, ‘Look, I don't want to lose you. But I've got to go to Nashville.'” Listen to Scott's music and connect with him on social media:WebsiteSpotifyInstagramFacebookYouTubeTwitter

Following an early introduction to The Beatles he would go on to embrace the great guitar rock of his surroundings, fusing it to a love of the alternative sounds coming from the UK. This would lead him on a long and successful journey with his band The Melismatics before getting the call to join one of the most iconic guitar bands of the 80s and 90s.This episode is brought to you by our friends Dead Skull Coffee. https://deadskullcoffee.co.uk/discount/STVPlease visit The Straight To Video Patreon Page to find out how you can help grow this show. https://www.patreon.com/stvpod
