We had the pleasure of interviewing Sophia Scott over Zoom video! Known for her soulful storytelling and powerhouse vocals, EMPIRE's SOPHIA SCOTT is blazing a permanent trail for herself in Nashville and beyond with her newest single “One Of These Days,” available now. Painting a poignant visual from her parents' struggling marriage, Sophia illustrates how she defined her own perspectives on love, offering a candid glimpse into her own personal story and emphasizing the mantra: ‘everything's meant to be.' Penned with Tiggs (Nathan Fertig) of Ross Golan's Unknown Music, “One Of These Days” is where vulnerability meets hope… “I wanna live like I'm dying, I want to laugh till I'm crying but my heart still breaks, I hope it falls into place, maybe one of these days,” Scott sings. “This is the most personal and arguably most important song I've put out so far. It tells the story of my parents' divorce, then my own first love and heartbreak, and finally dives into me trying to figure out my career, bills, and life as an adult. Hoping that there is resolve at some point and that all the hard things that have happened along the way start to make sense ‘one of these days,'” says Scott. “'One of these days' becomes a mantra for my whole life essentially. Her boundary-defying creative range flows seamlessly through the country, pop, rock, and R&B sounds that she grew up on. Nordic pop superstars MØ, Sigrid, Tove Lo and Alma discuss writing songs on your holidays, which elements work best for their songwriting, and why Scandinavians are so good at making pop music. Karen Ørsted, better known as Danish singer and songwriter MØ, is an electro-pop star who blends different genres to make a sound that's uniquely hers. She grew up listening to punk music and this is definitely something that's influenced her most recent work. She's worked with the likes of Iggy Azalea, Major Lazer and DJ Snake, Charli XCX, Justin Bieber and superstar producer Jack Antonoff, and supported artists including Years & Years, AlunaGeorge and Sia on international stages. Sigrid is a Norwegian singer and songwriter who has toured with the likes of Maroon 5 and George Ezra, and her latest single Burning Bridges is a taste of what's to come from her second album. Tove Lo has been dubbed “Sweden's darkest pop export”. Known for her grunge-infused pop sound, she has released four albums and has had global success with tracks like Habits (Stay High), Cool Girl and the Grammy-nominated Glad He's Gone. Alma went from performing on Finnish talent show Idols to achieving platinum-selling singles in just five years. She shot to fame in 2017 with the release of Chasing Highs, released her debut album Have U Seen Her? in 2020, and has collaborated with the likes of Charli XCX, Tove Lo and MØ. Beyond her own music, she has written for pop heavyweights like Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande.

Året är 2010 och i en stökig lägenhet vid Tegnérlunden i Stockholm har ett tjejgäng i tjugoårsåldern startat ett kollektiv, där det mesta handlar om att festa och göra musik. En av tjejerna heter Tove Nilsson. Hon hankar sig fram, jobbar extra i klädbutiker och spelar med ett coverband på Finlandsfärjor och firmafester.
