The Democratic Socialists of America are no longer hiding their agenda. Their leaders openly support abolishing the Senate, ICE, prisons, and America's borders. They also want noncitizens voting and major corporations placed under government ownership. Even Joe Scarborough is warning Democratic leaders to condemn the movement before Republicans define the party for them. Sen. John Fetterman is also pushing back, saying socialist candidates should stop running as Democrats and form their own party. Amber examines how Barack Obama helped move the Democratic Party toward today's radical left, why prominent Democrats continue attacking America, and how selective history is being used to portray the United States as uniquely evil. Dr. Andrew Fox joins the show to discuss political groupthink, the growing appeal of socialism, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer's warning about people surrendering independent thought to ideology and social approval. Dr. Fox is the author of the forthcoming book, Truth in the Age of Applause: How Stupidity Is Ruining the American Dream. After a decade of ideological conformity, is American theater ready to laugh at itself again? This week Meghan is joined by Broadway star, comedian, and producer PJ Adzima, founder of Stage Time NYC and producer of Slam Frank—a mind-melting new musical that reimagines The Diary of Anne Frank through "an intersectional, multi-ethnic, genderqueer, Afro-Latin hip-hop lens." (You read that right.) Slam Frank was conceived by composer and lyricist Andrew Fox, who was stunned and inspired by a Twitter thread in which someone asked, "Did Anne Frank ever examine her white privilege?" (You also read that right.) A play within a play about a progressive theater company twisting itself into knots trying to stay on the right side of history, the show has provoked both walkouts and rave reviews—including in The New York Times. (Again, you read that right.) PJ and Meghan discuss the transformation of the theater world over the past decade, the legacy of The Book of Mormon (in which he starred for many years), the "Dear White American Theater" manifesto, and why he believes great art cannot be created by checking ideological boxes. They also talk about what happens when artists prioritize pleasing everyone over having a point of view—and why live performance still matters in an era dominated by algorithms and social media. PJ was recently added as a guest at The Unspeakeasy's Small Gathering for Big Ideas retreat, Oct 19-21 in Kingston, NY. He joins fellow speakers John McWhorter and Lisa Marchiano. Spaces are filling fast. Info here. Slam Frank opens off-Broadway at New York's Orpheum Theater in September. Guest Bio: PJ Adzima starred on Broadway in The Book of Mormon and is the founder of Stage Time, an underground-style variety theater company and artist collective in New York City. He is also producer of Slam Frank.
Since resuming America's on-again off-again war with Iran, President Trump has left astute observers of military strategy slack-jawed. Among them is Andrew Fox, a repeat State of Tel Aviv and Beyond guest and one of those rare individuals who brings rich experience from the battlefield, backroom policy and military discussions. These days Fox is immersed in the academic side of things. Fox came out swinging earlier this week with an essay very candidly discussing the lack of strategy in American policy regarding its conflict with Iran. Articulated goals change - frequently and dramatically. The lack of consistency and discipline in the way in which America is handing Iran is worrisome. Very. Fox and I get into what America seems to be doing in Iran and why it should either focus its blurry war strategy or cut its losses and pull out. This is not a real estate deal. And it's unclear that the President understands that.Show your support for STLV at buymeacoffee.com/stateoftelavivPodcast Notes:Essay by Andrew Fox published on July 20, 2026, which formed the basis of this discussion:Andrew Fox is a former British Army Major and frontline conflict researcher specialising in modern warfare. THURSDAY WAKE UP ON LIVE THE DREAM MEDIA
We thought we would discuss critical thinking and how it applies to today's propaganda-laden world. And we did. But the conversation quickly turned into a luminous, expansive exchange of knowledge, opinions, and faith, especially between Dr. Fox and Dr. Breggin. Dr. Fox has an open and warm demeanor that radiates care and affection when he greeted us. Dr. Andrew Fox is an Anglican priest who now lives with his wife in the heart of Texas, where he has settled after immigrating from the United Kingdom. He became an American citizen and shared with us about how happy he is to be here in the United States. We exchanged stories about the unexpected and delightful joy with which recent World Cup tourists coming to America for the first time shared their experiences on social media. Europeans discovered how beautiful, engaging, friendly, welcoming, fun, and (the food!) delicious America is. Then they shared all of that on social media, red-pilling their friends and families and helping Americans feel proud again after these terrible post-COVID years. After the show, I enjoyed reading Dr. Fox's blog on this topic, “The World Cup: America's Greatest Untapped Form of Diplomacy.” Dr. Fox introduced his forthcoming book: Truth in the Age of Applause: How Stupidity Is Ruining the American Dream. We discussed critical thinking and how it and civil dialogue are essential for challenging harmful ideologies while maintaining respect for authority—particularly said Dr. Fox– in scriptural contexts. The conversation explored the differences between Old and New Testament perspectives on Jews as the Chosen people, with Dr. Fox commenting that while the Old Testament focused on a specific tribe's witness to one God, the New Testament emphasizes an egalitarian approach where all people are children of God. We discussed how modern concepts of relativism [the philosophical belief that nothing is objectively true or universally applicable] have been misused to undermine truth, particularly in debates about biological reality and gender identity, with Dr. Fox noting that reality doesn't change regardless of opinions. I discovered after the interview that Dr. Fox has spoken the truth very actively rather than seeking applause. Dr. Fox had served eight years as Austin City Fire Chaplain when, in 2021, he wrote a blog arguing that men should not compete in women's sports due to biological differences between the two sexes. According to the Christian Post: Months later, Fox was dismissed when officials decided that his efforts to apologize to unnamed offended parties were not sufficient, as he refused to recant his views on LGBT issues. In August 2022, Fox filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, alleging that AFD officials “retaliated against him for exercising his First Amendment rights, violated his First Amendment right to free speech and free exercise of religion, and violated the Texas Constitution.” On March 3, 2026, the city of Austin reached a $78,000 settlement with former Austin City Fire Chaplain Andrew Fox, according to the Alliance Defending Freedom. Dr. Fox does not seek applause. He seeks truth. The Breggin Hour with Dr. Peter & Ginger Breggin – Dr. Andrew Fox explores truth, critical thinking, faith, free speech, and civil dialogue in a candid conversation about modern culture. He challenges relativism, reflects on America, discusses his forthcoming book, and recounts the legal battle that follows his dismissal as Austin's fire chaplain for expressing his deeply held religious convictions...
That's all Democrats know how to do! (And where in the world is Mitch McConnell?!) PLUS, Dr. Andrew Fox, author of the upcoming book Truth in the Age of Applause: How Stupidity is Ruining the American Dream, talks to Shaun about the stupifying of our nation - denying reality to go with the flow of wokeism. And Wayne Barnes, author of the book A Traitor in the FBI: The Hunt for a Russian Mole, talks about the corruption inside the FBI over the years and how it has only recently turned political. A new U.S. Supreme Court decision allowing states to restrict participation in girls' and women's sports based on biological sex has shifted one of America's most divisive cultural debates away from Washington and back to the states. Rather than imposing a single nationwide rule, the Court reaffirmed the role of federalism—allowing voters, legislatures, school boards, and athletic associations to determine policy closer to home. The ruling has reignited conversations about fairness, biological reality, constitutional restraint, and the future of women's sports. Dr. Andrew Fox, priest, organizational culture expert, educator, business leader, and author (including his newest book, Truth in the Age of Applause), is scheduled to join me to discuss why he says the legal decision is only part of the story. The larger question is what it reveals about America's ability to reason through difficult issues without surrendering to ideology, groupthink, or political tribalism.Following last November's victory of Zohran Mamdani as mayor of New York City, democratic-socialism has gained visibility and momentum in the United States. The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the country's largest socialist organization, currently with over 116,000 members. The Democratic Socialists of America vaguely describes its philosophy as "a system where ordinary people have a real voice in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and society." The website goes on to say the DSA is working for "single-payer Medicare for All, defunding the police/refunding communities, and the Green New Deal." If any doubt remains about the DSA's long-term goals, David Jenkins, a member of DSA's National Political Committee, has publicly stated, "Our goal is liberation. Our goal is communism." Edward Bartlett, Founder of SAVE (Stop Abusive and Violent Environments), a 501(c)3 organization working to assure due process, fairness, and equal opportunities for men, is scheduled to join me to discuss why the DSA is being so open about its agenda and why they seem to be gaining momentum.Federal authorities continue to dismantle sophisticated human smuggling operations as ICE and Homeland Security intensify efforts under Operation Take Back America. Recent cases highlight the brutality of these criminal organizations, including a California man who admitted participating in a migrant smuggling and ransom scheme in which families paid thousands of dollars only for loved ones to disappear, and a Texas case where dozens of migrants were found trapped inside a sweltering trailer with little food or water, resulting in one death. After very intense days of build-up, when President Trump spoke openly about his anger at his one-time pal, Benjamin Netanyahu, we learned on Sunday night - the President's 80th birthday - that Iran and America had agreed to end the war.Come again? Which war?On Monday, the President, Vice-President and Iranian Foreign Minister Aragchi signed a “Memorandum of Understanding”. Electronically. Diplomacy by docu-sign. We are told that it takes care of all outstanding business and acrimony. Most importantly, Trump gloated, gas prices dropped immediately and the Strait of Hormuz was open to commercial shipping traffic. Who knew it was all so easily resolved? On today's podcast I get into the ugly underbelly of this “deal” - or what we think we know about it - with two of the top analysts in this business: Andrew Fox and Negar Mojtahedi. I read an article by Andrew Fox on Tuesday, and understood immediately how important it was. Not his piece (although it's excellent, as always) as much as what he reports. The highly regarded Pew Foundation conducted a poll in recent months in 36 countries and surveyed a large and diverse demographic. The results are deeply concerning. Even in the United States - where Israel has long been a unifying, bipartisan “issue (although I am well aware that has been eroding for some time now) - the numbers are worse than one would expect. I'm not sure how anyone assesses “victory”, but looking around today I would suggest that the reality on the ground in the region is bleak. Hamas is still standing. Hezbollah is still standing. Iran remains a force to be reckoned with. Is that what “total victory” looks like? There were many people who celebrated October 7 but there were, I believe, still more who understood the barbarism of Hamas for what it was and is. But in the interim, something has changed. The ongoing wars and extreme allegations made against Israel have clearly influenced how people view Israel. Israel has absolutely botched the war for the hearts and minds of the world. And that is reflected in the Pew Poll results, which Andrew Fox and I discuss. It's a short, pithy exchange about a very grave challenge facing Israel, to which no one seems to be paying careful attention. I know - I keep on delivering such uplifting content… there is a silver lining… but you have to listen to the end.Below are links to the Pew Poll and summary, Andrew Fox's article and a third article referred to in our chat by Mr. Fox.Show your support for STLV at buymeacoffee.com/stateoftelavivAndrew Fox is a former British Army Major and frontline conflict researcher specialising in modern warfare. Brad Gerstner sits down with Gavin Baker and Andrew Fox of Atreides Management, alongside Altimeter partner Clark Tang, to break down one of the biggest questions in tech and markets: how should investors think about the SpaceX IPO?They unpack the major levers behind SpaceX's next phase: Starship rapid reusability, Starlink broadband and direct-to-cell, Elon's emerging AI compute business, xAI's model ambitions, the Cursor acquisition, and the long-term promise of orbital data centers. The group also debates whether SpaceX is becoming a new kind of AI hyperscaler — “Elon Web Services” — and what that means for the future of compute, cloud, and frontier intelligence. Then they dive into the latest model race: Fable 5, Mythos, ChatGPT 5.5, long-running agents, open source vs. frontier models, Nvidia vs. ASICs, the AI CapEx boom, and why the market may still be underestimating the scale of AI demand. A Supreme Court decision about voting rights became “stop the presses” news. But the media left out a big part of the story: the history of Black Democratic groups and white Republican groups working together to create more majority-Black districts. Today, Josh explains the math behind the effort. Then, hear dramatic sound from the capture of a knife-wielding UK terrorist who attacked Jewish people. The BBC pretended the latest in a long string of attacks was “shocking.” The network also muted a guest's microphone when he cited incitement by far-left politicians. And the BBC helped a far-left politician avoid answering a simple question. Josh explains how the scene became a study in “tragicomic obfuscation.” NPR, meanwhile, did not run a single on-air piece about the attack. Josh shares what happened when he searched NPR's site for any stories about Jewish people, radical Islam, and more. People should not give their hard-earned money to the network, he argues, particularly in the wake of a historic $113 million gift from two extremely wealthy people. Also today, more of Josh's interview with fantastic military analyst Andrew Fox. Even if Iran agrees to a deal, it’s likely to see it as a temporary patch until Trump is out of office. Andrew explains why Iran is banking on a Democrat taking over the White House and giving the Islamic regime, effectively, free reign. Plus, why Pakistan is suddenly all over the news, and the media's cluelessness about where the country came from. Trump insists it’s going “swimmingly.” Much of the media portrays it as an unmitigated disaster. But since news giants get so much wrong also, how can you know what’s true? Today, Josh welcomes back Andrew Fox of the Henry Jackson Society, a clear-headed military analyst who understands war and what's really happening. Andrew cites ways in which the war has been “a dominating, overwhelming, crushing victory for Israel and the United States” and ways in which it has not been so — including one action in particular that he calls “a military mistake for the ages.” He also explains the reason the initial U.S.-Israeli strike on Iran took place at the exact moment it did; how a 5-minute elevator underground factors in; what signs to look for in the coming weeks; and how Trump's turn on Ukraine affected Europe's actions on Iran. And he describes what it will take to end Iran's Islamist regime, the chief sponsor of global terror. Plus: the media buries another terrorist attack on a synagogue, carried out by teens. For more than 40 years, Michael Rothman has made a career out of data-driven analysis of the global oil market. He has attended every meeting of OPEC since 1986. His clients are a roster of major industry players and governments. State of Tel Aviv and Beyond spoke with Rothman almost one week ago….just as the tensions over the Iranian chokehold over the Strait of Hormuz flared into a full-blown global crisis. Overnight, it seemed, everyone knew about the Strait of Hormuz and Kharg Island - the Iranian island about 400 miles (660 km) north of the shipping choke point controlled by Iran in the Persian Gulf. Virtually all critical infrastructure supporting the Iranian oil and gas industries are based on Kharg Island, making it a potential target for a U.S. military operation. Occupying Kharg - would be a highly complex adventure (which was discussed in our recent podcast with military analyst, Andrew Fox). Rothman, however, dismisses any talk of occupying Kharg as “fantasy.”Michael Rothman takes us through a series of slides and explains the fundamentals of the global oil market and why it is almost impossible to predict how high energy prices may go, when and for how long. This podcast is different from our usual work and will be of interest to those of you who have a business background, and a thing for numbers, graphs, economics, and uncertainty. Please note that all slides presented in this podcast are the proprietary work of Cornerstone Analytics and are reproduced in this podcast with permission from Cornerstone. He founded Cornerstone Analytics in 2009, serves as a consultant to government agencies, and has attended Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) meetings since 1986.In 1984, Mike joined Merrill Lynch and became Chief Energy Strategist and Co-Head of the Global Energy Equity Team, which was ranked #1 in the Global Research Survey by Institutional Investor Magazine. Mike was responsible for formulating the company's outlooks for the petroleum and natural gas markets, which were integrated into the firm's commodity, equity, debt, strategy, economic and emerging markets research. In 2005, Mike joined ISI and built the firm's energy research platform. Andrew Fox, combat veteran and one of the most prolific writers these days on the war with Iran, returns to State of Tel Aviv and Beyond to share his assessment of what has gone well in this war so far…..and what has gone less well. Having been on the battlefield and someone who is very familiar with the Middle East, Fox offers sharp insights as to how the Iranian chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz - through which much of the global supply of oil and natural gas passes - can be alleviated. We discuss several scenarios as well as the risks associated with each. We then move geographically to the United Kingdom, Fox's home. Early Monday morning, there was a serious arson incident in a Jewish suburb of London. Four community ambulances were torched and in the middle of the night the neighborhood was rocked with explosions and massive fires. The IRGC took responsibility for the attack, but Fox doesn't buy that. As always, time spent with Andrew is enlightening and challenging. He also wrote a great piece on the London arson attack, which you can read hereAndrew Fox is a former British Army Major and frontline conflict researcher specialising in modern warfare. It's Wednesday, March 11th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Timothy Reed Growing anti-Christian violence in Europe Experts warned of growing anti-Christian violence and legal pressure in Europe during a recent session of the United Nations Humans Rights Council. Christians in Europe faced nearly 800 hate crimes and over 2,000 violent incidents in 2024. The Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination Against Christians in Europe documents such cases. Anja Tang, executive director of the observatory, told The Christian Post, “Several European governments have targeted individuals through criminal procedures for peacefully expressing their religious beliefs.” 8 Americans and 13 Israelis have died in Iranian conflict The death toll for American military personnel has reached eight since the beginning of the Iran conflict. A U.S. soldier, whose name is yet to be released, died from wounds sustained in Iran's March 1st attack on an American base in Saudi Arabia, and a national guardsman died from a medical emergency in Kuwait on March 6th. Six soldiers were also killed by an Iranian drone strike in Kuwait, and their remains were transported back to the United States and honored. Additionally, Israel has recorded 13 deaths since the outbreak of the war, and several have been killed in Gulf States friendly to the United States and Israel. In Psalm 43:1, the psalmist says, “Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.” Trump to Iran: Stop blocking oil tankers or else! U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Monday to escalate the war with Iran if the country blocks oil tanker traffic from the Middle East. In response, oil prices fell by 15% yesterday. During the war with Iran, prices have increased to levels not seen since 2022. These oil prices have affected the price of gasoline at the pump in America. The AAA national average for gas reached $3.54 per gallon yesterday. That's up nearly fifty cents from a year ago. Christians are not safe in New York City Two men linked with ISIS attempted a bomb attack on a right-wing protest in New York City over the weekend. Thankfully, police were able to intercept the devices, and no one was injured. New York City Council Member Joann Ariola spoke with Newsmax host Todd Starnes in a recent interview. She offered a chilling answer to Starnes' direct question. STARNES: “Are the Christian and Jewish citizens of New York City safe tonight?” ARIOLA: “They're not safe. No one is safe, because finally, our mayor [Zohran Mamdami], has recognized that these are radical Muslim Islamic ISIS driven terrorists, and they are in our midst. “We can thank the Biden and Obama administration for these cells being allowed to cross into our borders and be in our city and many cities across the United States of America.” DOJ to Missouri: Don't worry about mailed Abortion Kill Pills Sadly, the Trump administration is not siding with states that are challenging the distribution of abortion drugs. The U.S. Department of Justice recently moved to dismiss a case brought by Missouri against Mifepristone, the mail-order Abortion Kill Pill. Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, told LifeNews, “The pro-life movement has very simple demands. There should be no place on the market for drugs meant to poison and kill innocent human beings – but at the very least, this administration can and should take them out of the mail.” Proverbs 24:11 says, “Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.” Entertainment merger gives Ellison family a major stake The Paramount Skydance Corporation is set to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery for $110 billion after Netflix withdrew its offer. The merger continues consolidating power in the hands of the Ellison family, who now own a major stake in the American media and entertainment industry. Currently, CNN is a division of Warner Bros. Discovery and known for its left-wing bent. Paramount CEO David Ellison is on good terms with President Trump. Ellison has promised significant changes to CNN if he becomes the owner. Former Christian firefighter gets compensation over religious discrimination And finally, a former volunteer chaplain with the Austin, Texas Fire Department recently won his case over religious discrimination. Andrew Fox served with the city's fire chaplaincy program for eight years. Everything was fine until he shared his religious views on a personal blog. FOX: “I wrote that men and women are biologically different, and that men should not compete on women's sports teams. When city officials demanded that I recant and apologize for the harm my blog post allegedly caused, I explained that my intent was to foster discussion, not to cause offense. What I could not do was renounce my beliefs or apologize for my faith.” In response, Texas officials fired him. Alliance Defending Freedom helped him secure a favorable settlement with the city. Hal Frampton with Alliance Defending Freedom said, “This vindication of Dr. Fox's constitutionally-protected free speech should give hope to all those who wish to share their voice freely.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, March 11th, in the year of our Lord 2026. On Thursday I spoke with Andrew Fox, military veteran, scholar, man of diverse and deep expertise. I wanted to zoom out a bit from the focus on the Israel-Iran aspect of the war and place it in a larger context, where it rightly belongs. America is leading this war effort for many reasons. One is to put an end to Iran's nuclear ambitions. Also - America is seizing an opportunity to quell China's long-term planning towards global economic dominance. Andrew and I get into it all and at the end, just for kicks, we discuss the astonishingly vapid leadership prevailing in this critical moment in certain western countries. Guess which ones? Yup! PM Sir Keir Starmer of the U.K. and Canada's feckless Prime Minister, Mark Carney. It has become impossible to keep up with their rudderless principles and statements. Shocking, really. We include great video clips and I'm so proud of my team. We're closing out the first week of the war and managed to put out a full AV podcast. This is it - until today it was just audio. So much quicker and easier. We have really gone flat out this week - in spite of sirens and missiles - to bring you current information about the real, in-the-moment experience in Israel. Alex Phillips sits in for Julia Hartley-Brewer, speaking to former Parachute Regiment major Andrew Fox about why No10 initially resisted US use of UK military bases to attack Iran. Celebrations erupted in Iran and across the world after Ayatollah Khameini and a host of significant Iranian regime officials were killed by strikes on Saturday morning. The regime has killed tens of thousands of its own citizens and maintained brutal, theocratic rule over Iran since a 1979 revolution brought them to power. American-Israeli military action has sparked debate about US intervention in the Middle East, whether this is ultimately in Western interests, the escalation risk, a power vacuum in Iran, and potential terror attacks by Shiite Muslims.Four US servicemen have been killed so far, and three American jets have been shot down by friendly fire.Donald Trump wanted to use RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire and the Chagos Islands' Diego Garcia to affect regime change and dismantle its nuclear and missile facilities. Having made it clear they would deny the president's request, the Labour government eventually shifted position as UK assets and personnel came under threat - but emphasised that any UK involvement would be "defensive".Andrew and Alex assess how this decision reflects on the UK prime minister. They also discuss Iran's missile capabilities, interception rates across the Gulf, resupply pressures, and how long the current tempo of operations can be sustained — as well as the likelihood of Russia or China escalating support for their ally in the region. Later, barrister Natasha Hausdorff, legal director of UK Lawyers for Israel, responds to arguments that Donald Trump's strikes violated international law.She weighs Lord Wolfson's critique of the Attorney General Lord Hermer's approach, examining how self-defence and the wider regional conflict framework are being interpreted by "the West's detractors". She ultimately justifies the strikes. Also: whether the UN is playing a credible role, and what the conflagration means for the UK–US "special relationship" and Britain's national security.Alex Phillips is stepping in for Julia Hartley-Brewer until Friday 6th March.Julia Hartley-Brewer broadcasts on Talk from Monday to Thursday, 10AM to 1PM. What does war look like when fought under the harshest scrutiny? Veteran soldier and military researcher Andrew Fox talks about his first-hand experience in Gaza with EconTalk's Russ Roberts. He and Roberts explore the challenges of reporting and understanding the war amid the challenges of disinformation, and why Fox believes that the IDF had few tactical alternatives to destroying infrastructure and buildings in the Gaza Strip. Fox also addresses the claims that Israel deliberately targeted Gazan children and wielded starvation as a weapon, and explains why he believes that Israel succeeded in achieving its strategic war goals.

The writer-composer behind the viral Slam Frank (an Anne Frank musical staged as if by the most social-justice-forward regional theater) explains why he pushes rules to their reductio ad absurdum and why “art should lift up the people who are beneath me.” Fox walks through a contentious table read, a Change.org backlash, and the joy/rage of crafting Hamilton-esque bangers like “The Day My Daddy Puts Us Into Hiding.” He argues the show's point is to expose how prescribed language and forced diversity can dehumanize artists and audiences alike. Keir Starmer's recognition of Palestine has been hailed by Hamas as a victory for its cause. The anti-Semitic army has thanked the UK prime minister for rewarding the 7 October pogrom, the deadliest day for Jews since the Nazi Holocaust. Here, Andrew Fox – former British Army officer and co-host of the podcast, The Brink – argues that this is a moment of shame for Britain. Starmer's gambit, he says, will do nothing for ordinary Palestinians and will not bring an end to the war in Gaza. It will only embolden those committed to Israel's destruction. Andrew and I recorded the second part this morning and I was keen to get it out ASAP. We speak at length about his experience on the ground in Rafah last week at the food distribution site operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. His professional eye and observations make clear that there is much to be commended and improved.Show your support for STLV at buymeacoffee.com/stateoftelavivAndrew Fox served in the British Army from 2005 to 2021, completing three tours in Afghanistan, including one attached to the US Army Special Forces. This is episode two of Swimming with Shadows: A Radiolab Week of Sharks.Jaws spawned a thousand imitators: sharks in tornados, sharks in avalanches, sharks that battle giant octopuses. Hollywood has officially turned sharks into monsters of every shape and size. And yet, somehow, there will always be more. But drop below the surface, into the cold, quiet blue, and another creature appears. One that has survived mass extinctions, outlasted ancient predators and pre-dates Mount Everest, the existence of trees, even the rings of Saturn. A shark that is somehow even more remarkable than sharks in tornadoes.Today, we go visit that shark. Special thanks to Andrew Fox, the entire team at Rodney Fox Shark Expeditions, John Long whose book The Secret History of Sharks inspired our obsession with sharks, and Greg Skomal, whose wonderful new book on his life studying white sharks is Chasing Shadows: My Life Tracking the Great White Shark.EPISODE CREDITS: Reported by - Rachael Cusickwith help from - Pat WaltersProduced by - Rachael Cusick and Simon Adlerwith help from - Pat WaltersSound design contributed by - Jeremy Bloomwith mixing help from - Jeremy BloomFact-checking by - Natalie Middletonand Edited by - Pat WaltersEPISODE CITATIONS:Videos - Loved learning about all the different kinds of sharks there are? Israel's aerial assault on Iran has stunned the world. Surgical strikes have wiped out much of Tehran's military leadership. Its nuclear-weapons capabilities have been severely degraded. The brutal Islamist regime, loathed at home and abroad, is at its weakest point in decades. Here, Andrew Fox – former British Army officer and associate fellow at the Henry Jackson Society – discusses why Israel felt it had to act, whether the Iranian regime can survive, and what risks lie ahead for Israel and the West.
Thank you to Andrew Fox for jumping on our live Substack video to talk about Israel, Iran, and answer your questions. Send your prayers to the IDF, the people of Israel, and the people of Iran.
