State of Health Podcast #21: Longevity Through Physical Activity with Ian MacLeod (@stoicmobility) (YouTube)On this episode of the podcast, I am joined by Ian MacLeod also known as @stoicmobility on Instagram. After hearing my State of Health podcast episode with Wes Hendricks, Ian reached out to have a conversation about health span and longevity. As a 16 year veteran in the fitness industry, including opening his own world class training facility Nirvana Strength in Bali, Ian has a lot of insight on how to take a holistic approach to training with the goal of longevity. A key insight shared by Ian was to think of your health and longevity goals in the same way as your competition or performance goals. Have a target in mind of what you want your health to look like and break it down to individual achievable steps to work toward. We also discussed injuries and how to mitigate them, how Ian himself keeps his body mostly pain free, we talked about the importance of cultivating a deep sense of awareness of your body and the need for an additional outside perspective on your movement quality from a coach's eye. I really enjoyed this conversation and I think you will get many useful tips about your personal health journey by listening in.QUESTION — Have you thought about what kind of physical abilities you want your 70/80/90 year old self to be capable of?Time codes0:00 - Start0:12 - Intro2:05 - Podcast starts2:56 - Ian's background in the fitness industry11:00 - Taking a competitive approach to longevity20:50 - How much flexibility/range of motion do you need?27:30 - Bad technique vs mismanagement of load and frequency37:10 - Developing a sense mindfulness and awareness of the body during training45:25 - Soft tissue adaptations are slower than muscle size and strength adaptations58:40 - Ian's state of health at the moment and how he remains pain free1:05:50 - Importance of addressing the nervous system to increase flexibility1:08:05 - J-Mart's pillars of health1:12:00 - What balance should really mean with regards to training1:14:05 - What has Ian changed his mind on with regards to longevity1:24:27 - OutroConnect with J-Mart on Social MediaNostr - npub1cqfrrgxs6mwpl2xpmh2kzw322qv2n0e4r65jllzncv65krmvwhnsct3p5uEmail - jmartfit@substack.comInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/jmartfit/ X - https://twitter.com/jmartfit Facebook -https://fb.me/jmartmoves Medium - https://jmartwrites.medium.com/Also listen to JMART CAST, my Monday Morning Bitcoin Podcast about physical and financial health. Celticunderground:The Celtic Football Fan Podcast

And so after 17 years in the job Peter is leaving.    Peter Lawwell was first employed by Celtic as the club's Financial Controller from 1990 to 1991 under then Chief Executive Terry Cassidy. In September 2003, he returned to Celtic succeeding Ian McLeod as Chief Executive. The job title was changed for Lawwell to Executive Director, Head of Operations as many of the previous Chief Executives had performed poorly in that role.  Arsenal were interested in appointing Lawwell as their chief executive in 2008, but Lawwell rejected their approach.  Lawwell has been credited with increasing revenue, reducing debt and is considered a tough transfer negotiator. He has attracted criticism since 2008, however, as Rangers had won three championships in a row. In particular, Celtic fans cite the club's refusal to increase their offer for steven Fletcher in January 2009, after which Rangers overhauled Celtic to win the 2008/09 SPL. In 2010 it was reported that Lawwell earned a wage of more than £700,000 a year, after receiving a 25% rise from his previous contract for the 2008–09 season.   Everything at Celtic changed in 2012 when Rangers went to the wall and this saw the club commence an incredible period of dominance, winning trophies and building cash in the bank for a rainy day,  We had the Brendan era followed by the appointment of Neil Lennon in the showers and for many, the diasters of the current season were sewn on that day.   Peter leaves and Hullbhoy and I assess his legacy.   Enjoy…

On our latest episode of the podcast, we have a natter about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 19th and the 23rd October (Episodes #10,145 - 10,150).First off, though, we talk about what an honour it was to be asked to be one of the representatives of the Corrie fan community as part of its 60 For 60 campaign, and we're also briefly joined by writer Abigail Kemp, who picks a winner in our competition to win a copy of her new Coronation Street book.In the Street Talk section of the show, we chat about this week's Corrie, in which Billy summons a ghost from his past when Mary calls him in to perform at exorcism at #11. Meanwhile, Leanne's rage hits hitherto unreached levels when she she feels even more people are giving up on Oliver, Gary struggles to grasp the idea that being Ray's henchman for hire may mean a bit of tough negotiating, and the Winter-Browns prove in just a couple of scenes that anyone living in Weatherfield who's unemployed for more than five minutes just isn't trying hard enough. In The Kabin, we take a quick flick through the special Corrie edition of the latest Inside Soap magazine, then we round off the podcast with more of your feedback, including a voicemail from one listener, who highlights some definite similarities between Shona's current story and another one Ian McLeod ran when he was in charge of Emmerdale - the question is, can soap producers be blamed for recycling storylines?Street Talk - 00:18:50The Kabin - 02:08:45Feedback - 02:22:38

In 2004 Dale Thacker got involved as a 1/3 owner in Rangeland Helicopters with Larry Elford and Ian McLeod. Their wish was to bring effective helicopter EMS to the southeastern part of Alberta. They recognized that STARS Air Ambulance was available, but from a trauma perspective considering the “golden hour”, it wasn't sufficient, and wanted better coverage for the people who call this southern region home. The Southern Alberta MedicAir Society had also come to similar conclusions about STARS coverage. The combined synergy of these two groups allowed a new project to take flight in the summer of 2007. Dale sold his shares in Rangeland Helicopters at that time and became a volunteer on the fundraising side of the operation now known as HALO (Helicopter Air Lift Operation) He has been a board member for 13 years and Chairman for the last three. HALO has recently become an Alberta Health Services approved helicopter EMS provider, allowing them a chance to work together and demonstrate ways to help reduce costs of medical emergency trauma services. He will speak on his journey and experiences helping this service in southeastern Alberta become a reality. Speaker: Dale Thacker Dale was born in Taber and other than a spell at SAIT College studying Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, he has lived his entire life on a multi-generational farm 2 miles west of Bow Island. It's an innovative farming operation that grows Spearmint and Peppermint Essential Oils for Wrigley's, Colgate and other companies and produces dill oil for Vlasics and Oscar Meyer. They have held the contract to supply the flavoring for the dill pickle at McDonalds for the last 11 years. They also grow wheat, along with Hybrid Seed canola, peas, beans, lentils, hemp and are now even trying out hops. Dale is the Chairman of the Mint Industry Research Councils “distillation committee” and is tasked with improving on-farm distillation across North America. Dale got his fixed wing pilots license in 1975 and then upgraded to a helicopter license in 1999. This is where he discovered the helicopters unique ability to get to remote locations quickly. He currently flies an Enstrom helicopter on his farm and it allows for crop surveillance and irrigation scheduling using infra-red photography as well as weed scouting and crop maturity checks. Pavel Durov’s creation, the document contends, gave a “strawman” argument about “existence” since “Grams will never be tangible.” The SEC put the frosting on when it wrote:“Telegram’s attempt to avoid this economic truth by labelling Grams ‘commodities’ also fails.
