LIVE from the New York Stock Exchange, Diego Sanchez talks with Bob Hart about how Intercontinental Exchange is modernizing mortgage infrastructure through AI, cybersecurity and connected loan technology. Hart explains that ICE's experience digitizing markets like the New York Stock Exchange gives the company a strong foundation for improving efficiency and transparency in mortgage lending, which still relies heavily on paper-based processes. He also discusses the company's cautious but aggressive approach to AI — using automation to improve workflows while maintaining compliance and human oversight in critical parts of the lending process. The conversation also focuses on ICE's push to connect origination and servicing through platforms like Encompass and technology gained from the Black Knight acquisition, creating a more seamless borrower experience from application through servicing. Looking ahead, Hart says ICE's growth strategy centers on AI investment, operational efficiency and building a more connected mortgage ecosystem. Prediction markets have been easy to dismiss as a gambling product dressed up in financial language. That became harder to do when Intercontinental Exchange — the company that owns the New York Stock Exchange — quietly took a 25% stake in Polymarket. And when Robinhood partnered with Susquehanna to acquire a MIAX exchange platform that is already regulated and cleared specifically for prediction markets trading. The finance industry has a long habit of showing up wherever money is moving and taking a cut. It is showing up here now. The question for investors is not whether prediction markets will become a legitimate financial product — Nick and Kasey think that trajectory is clear. The question is which publicly traded companies are best positioned to benefit, and how to think about the difference between a short-term hype cycle and a genuine secular growth theme. In this episode, CSI steps outside its core semiconductor focus to cover the full prediction markets landscape and compare Robinhood and Interactive Brokers head-to-head on their Q1 2026 earnings — because the way those two businesses generate revenue tells you almost everything you need to know about which one is built for the long run.Robinhood reported $1 billion in revenue, up 15% year over year, with EPS up just 3% — slower than investors expected. The stock dipped on the report. But the MIAX acquisition is genuinely interesting: a regulated, cleared prediction markets exchange that could morph from a retail gambling product into a professional risk management tool for investors hedging real portfolio exposure against real-world outcomes.Interactive Brokers reported $1.68 billion in revenue, up 17% year over year, across 4.75 million accounts. The revenue chart tells a different story — smooth, consistent, institutional. Net interest income has grown to exceed transaction revenue over the past decade. ForecastEx, their prediction markets product, launched in 2024 and is already aimed at professional investors rather than retail gamblers. The comparison matters. One business is built around hype cycles and transaction spikes. The other is built around compounding institutional trust. Both are in prediction markets now. Only one of them looks like Interactive Brokers fifteen years from now. What we cover:— The prediction markets landscape: Kalshi, Polymarket, Robinhood, CBOE, NASDAQ, ICE— ICE owns 25% of Polymarket — what institutional validation means for the industry— Robinhood Q1 2026: $1B revenue, EPS +3% — the MIAX acquisition explained— Why prediction markets become risk management tools, not just gambling— Interactive Brokers Q1 2026: $1.68B revenue, smooth institutional revenue model— HOOD vs. IBKR: boom-bust vs. compounding — what the revenue charts actually show— The finance flywheel: why Wall Street always finds a way to monetize a new cycle— Our current positions and how we're thinking about this as a portfolio diversification playDisclosure: Nick and Kasey hold positions in Robinhood. You don't need to create demand if demand is mandated. That's the insight Will Caldwell used to build and sell his company. Will discovered that inside the mortgage industry, banks are legally required to buy flood certificates on every loan. So, he started Snap — a platform that makes it faster and cheaper for banks to do exactly that. Then he partnered with Intercontinental Exchange, the $95 billion company that owns the New York Stock Exchange, plugged into their existing infrastructure, scaled quickly, and eventually sold 51% of the company for 10x. In this episode of Real Estate News, host Kathy Fettke breaks down the latest mortgage data and what it means for today's housing market. A new report from Intercontinental Exchange shows that mortgage delinquencies are edging higher, with serious delinquencies rising and cure rates slowing. At the same time, foreclosure activity is beginning to increase off recent lows—an early signal investors should be watching. While overall delinquency levels remain below pre-pandemic norms, the data suggests that more borrowers are struggling to catch up once they fall behind. In this update, Kathy explains what's driving these trends, how they could impact housing supply, and what real estate investors should keep an eye on in the months ahead. Will Caldwell started Snap after his first real estate software startup fizzled, pivoting from agent tools to regulated compliance data. He discovered lenders were required to buy hazard and flood certifications, and realized this was a "painkiller" product. He built Snap as a data and analytics platform for real estate and mortgage underwriting. Snap grew from a single California compliance product into a national flood data business, reaching $5M in revenue and 30 employees. The company charged per-loan transaction fees and embedded via API into mortgage software systems. With double-digit market share, Snap focused on customer experience, automation, and expanding wallet share inside lenders' workflows. In October 2024, Snap sold 51% of the company to Intercontinental Exchange, parent of ICE Mortgage Technology, at a double-digit revenue multiple. Will stayed on to scale the platform inside a much larger ecosystem. His key lesson: dominate a narrow niche, build a required product, and let strategic buyers find you. Key Takeaways Required Beats Optional – Legal compliance products create urgency and retention because customers must buy to complete revenue-generating transactions. Micro-Niche Entry – Starting in a narrow regulated segment let Snap win trust, then expand into much larger adjacent markets. API = Distribution – Embedding inside legacy systems turned Snap into a one-click button that scaled through partners' existing sales teams. Customer Experience Wins – In commodity data markets, faster, cheaper, simpler delivery became Snap's main competitive weapon. Quote from Will Caldwell, CEO and Co-Founder of Snap "You don't need to build a huge business to get a huge, life-changing exit. Just stay laser-focused. Don't chase shiny objects. I see many founders trying to boil the ocean. It is about staying focused on a single niche. "I think vertical SaaS has many great niches, and horizontal software is challenging. You need a lot of money to go after horizontal solutions across industries. However, with vertical SaaS products and niches, there is a lot of overlooked opportunity; the real estate vertical is one prime example." Sponsored by: EDF power solutions -- Info@EDF-re.comThis episode marks the turn of one of the most popular guests we've ever had on this show: Larry Lawrence, Vice President of Sustainable Finance Data at Intercontinental Exchange (ICE). When we had him on the show back in 2023, our conversation veered into the various ways data was evolving to drive innovation in sustainable finance. Well, it's 2025 and it's safe to say … things have changed. The very word sustainable is now taboo in some spaces, but Larry and the team at ICE don't get caught up in all that. They don't let semantics get in the way of the data. And when it comes to climate risk data, the financial services industry is listening to what the data says. Asset managers are listening. Investors in mortgage-backed securities are listening. And perhaps most importantly, insurers are listening. Natural disasters like wildfires, floods and hurricanes have reshaped insurance markets. So much so that, as the team at ICE shared in a recent report, climate risks are creating affordability risks that can ultimately lead to default risks. They discussed how the idea of the old guard vs. the new markets doesn't hold true, especially with ICE's strong record of innovation. And they covered ICE's history as a power exchange and how those markets have evolved, prediction markets and ICE's investment in Polymarket, AI and much more.

The hosts discuss what makes prediction markets so big right now and the increasingly murky distinction between "betting” and “investing”. And finally, several Bob Ross paintings are being auctioned for charity prompting a Slate Money listener to ask what the market is for his work. Felix breaks down the oddity that is the Bob Ross painting market and explains how charity auctions can skew the value of a piece of art. In the Slate Plus episode: Emily goes on a reporting journey to figure out what the new phrase ‘6-7' is all about. Want to hear that discussion and hear more Slate Money? Brian Kemp, lost her seat to Democrat Raphael Warnock in 2021. A former CEO and co-owner of the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream, she is married to Jeff Sprecher, CEO of Intercontinental Exchange. A Trump loyalist, Loeffler supported efforts to challenge Georgia’s 2020 election results. She also founded Greater Georgia to boost GOP voter registration. Loeffler joins other Georgians in key federal roles under Trump’s second term. Gwinnett police reported the incident occurred on Sugarloaf Parkway just before noon. Stewart was shot in the back and later died at a hospital. Todd remained at the scene and was arrested, facing charges including malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault. The argument between the co-workers escalated into the fatal shooting. STORY 5: House panel approves easing burden of proof of intellectual disability in capital cases A Georgia House committee advanced House Bill 123, which aims to ease the process for death penalty defendants to claim intellectual disability as a defense. The bill would lower the burden of proof from “beyond a reasonable doubt” to “preponderance of the evidence” and separate the determination of intellectual disability from the trial’s guilt phase. Advocates argue this reduces the risk of executing individuals with intellectual disabilities, aligning Georgia with other states. Critics, including a district attorney, warn it could complicate seeking the death penalty. The bill now moves to the House Rules Committee for a floor vote. Break 3: GCPS STORY 6: Officials Release Sketch To Help Identify Missing Remains Found In Gwinnett County Lawrenceville Police released a sketch to identify human remains found near Georgia Highway 316 and Duluth Highway on Feb. 10. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Lawrenceville Police Department or Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office. STORY 7: State Senate passes farmland preservation constitutional change The Georgia Senate approved a constitutional amendment to double the farmland eligible for conservation tax breaks from 2,000 to 4,000 acres, passing 51-1. The measure, part of efforts to preserve farmland amid significant losses over 50 years, will go to voters in a 2026 referendum. If approved, it would take effect in 2027. The Senate also passed an accompanying bill to set the referendum date. Supporters, like Sen. Sam Watson, highlighted the need to adapt the Conservation Use Valuation Assessment (CUVA) program to modern farming trends with larger family farms. The legislation now heads to the Georgia House. Hear from Gordon Bennett, Managing Director at ICE, as we dive into theory and practice of carbon pricing and its important role in driving the transition to net zero. Carbon pricing is the poster child of market-based solutions to climate change. The principle is simple: by assigning a cost to greenhouse gas emissions, we incentivize polluters to emit less, and to do so in the most cost-effective way. But there's a significant gap between the theory and practice. Currently, only 24% of global emissions – about 12.8 gigatonnes – are covered by pricing mechanisms such as carbon taxes or cap-and-trade. On top of that, just half a gigatonne was traded in voluntary markets last year. Clearly, there's still a long way to go. In this episode, we explore the carbon pricing gap, including: Why it exists, what's needed to close it; The integrity challenges facing voluntary carbon markets, and how to address them; And how central counterparties can help drive the transition by ensuring transparent, reliable pricing.
