Is destiny knocking on your door? Did you know Beethoven's wig is very big and Oscar Meyer sells bologna? In this episode we discuss the power of music in helping us to learn, remember, encapsulate memories, change our state of consciousness and emotions. Music is being used in movies, commercials and other forms to make you feel a certain way, and we discuss how you can start using music for your benefit. Remember those catchy marketing jingles like "my bologna has a first name," and "I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan." I share why those are so easy to remember and how you can use the same techniques to help change your level of consciousness. After 35 years of dominating grade school cafeteria lunchtime, that yellow box filled with hyper-palatable foods is getting “remixed” by the creator packaged goods movement. For those that are living under a rock and didn't see the product announcement from a few weeks ago, Lunchly is a kid-friendly meal kit that's positioned as a better-for-you competitor to Lunchables. Now…there's already several other better-for-you Lunchables competitors in market, but what makes this one noteworthy is that it's a joint venture between two creator packaged goods brands. Lunchly was a collaboration between PRIME (the beverage brand backed by Logan Paul and KSI) and Feastables (the chocolate brand created by MrBeast). To be completely honest, this is a wild move. So, each box of Lunchly will include a miniature Feastables bar and bottle of PRIME Hydration. Lunchables created line extensions with Snickers, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Kool-Aid, and Capri Sun…but we're talking about two creator packaged goods brands that are co-creating a new “more perishable” product that also sees them both entering a new grocery retail section. So, then the question likely turns to why? Similar to when Lunchables was being developed in the 1980s, there's maybe the obvious and not so obvious answer. Based on the marketing angle taken thus far, the obvious answer is that Lunchly saw a market opportunity that paired all the previous (and still strong) Lunchables value propositions for parents (like convenience/value) and kids (like wanting to be cool in the school cafeteria), with these better-for-you product attributes. Regardless, Lunchables was actually created to solve a bologna oversupply (and popularity) problem for Oscar Meyer. And though I don't think anyone involved with Lunchly intentionally created this historical “remix,” PRIME is facing similar oversupply (and popularity) problems right now. According to recent NielsenIQ data reports, PRIME volume has been falling by somewhere around 30% YoY for much of this calendar year. But more interesting to the Lunchables connection is that PRIME has been the target of recent litigation from its supply chain partners…with lawsuits alleging dedicated contract manufacturing capacity investments left unutilized and coconut ingredients contracts cancelled. Additionally, my latest first principles thinking content will explore the historical connections between U.S. food companies by tobacco giants, how Phillip Morris (now Altria) were masters at engineering products to make consumers return for more, and how those hyper-palatable foods are now approved by the U.S. government (USDA) to be included within the National School Lunch Program. For most Americans, the Kraft and Heinz brands have been ever-present in our cupboards and fridges for our entire lives. Products like Oscar Meyer hot dogs, Kraft cheese, Velveeta, and Jello. Household names all. The company resulted from the 2015 merger between Kraft Foods and Heinz. Now the third biggest food brand in North America, we thought it would be interesting to hear how they think about innovation and reinventing their product lineup. To do that, we sit down with Kraft Heinz's President of R&D for North America, Robert Scott. As a part of this conversation, we talk with Robert about: The company's partnership with NotCo and how they are using the Guiseppe AI to develop new plant-based products. How he sees AI becoming interwoven into the company's product development cycles Why they created a Freestyle-like machine for custom condiments called the Heinz ReMix The idea behind the 360Crisp and innovating our food products and how they cook in our kitchens How Robert would advise aspiring food scientist to pursue a career path in food research and development And much more! At the Food AI Summit in September in Berkeley, we will explore how big CPGs can interweave AI into their product development and discuss lessons from the front lines. **Discussion begins at 4:20**What is the most famous line in Star Wars? What if I told you that the line is actually, “No, I am your father” NOT “Luke, I am your father”? What do you recall the monopoly man looking like? What if I told you that he did not in fact wear a monocle? Instead, these shared false memories are known as the Mandela effect. The term was created by Diona Broome, a paranormal researcher, in 2009. She was at a conference, telling people that she had remembered watching coverage of former South African President Nelson Mandelas death in prision in the 1980s. She was shocked to hear of his death in 2013, years after he had been released from prison. As she was telling people this story a number of them said “I also remember watching the coverage of his death in the 80s”. but how could that be? Nelson Mandela actually served 27 years in prison before being released. He went on to serve as president of South Africa from 1994-1999 and died in 2013. This shared false memory intrigued her and she created a website to research the affects further. There are hundreds of examples of this effect, but why does it happen? Are our memories really just unreliable? Or, are there multiple universes existing parallel to our own, and these inconsistencies, like the spelling of Oscar Meyer (it's MAYER not MEYER) or the presence of a cornucopia in the fruit of the loom logo (there isn't one) are examples of small changes caused by our timeline merging or branching off of another?Additional Content &. Notable Examples of the Mandela Effect The story of Nelson Mandela is not the only example of this type of false group memory. As the concept of the Mandela Effect grew along with Broome's website, other group false memories began to emerge. Henry VIII Eating a Turkey Leg Henry VIII, sans turkey leg. Wikimedia Commons People had a memory that the above portrait of Henry VIII featured him eating or holding a turkey leg, though no such painting has ever existed. There have, however, been similar cartoons created. This may be related to the common knowledge of Henry VIII as a large man. Luke, I Am Your Father If you saw Star Wars: Episode V—The Empire Strikes Back, you probably remember Darth Vader uttering the famous line, "Luke, I am your father" in the pivotal scene near the end of the film. You might be surprised to learn, then, that the line was actually, "No, I am your father." Most people have memories of the line being the former rather than the latter, and it is commonly quoted incorrectly. Mirror, Mirror on the Wall If you watched Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, you probably remember the line, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?" As you can see from the above subtitled screenshot, the line actually began with the phrase "Magic mirror on the wall" instead. It probably doesn't help matters that Julia Roberts and Lily Collins starred in a 2012 live-action film based on Snow White called "Mirror Mirror"! Oscar Meyer or Oscar Mayer? There is some controversy over the spelling of the famous brand of hot dogs, Oscar Mayer weiners. Some people claim to remember the brand being spelled "Meyer" instead of "Mayer," which is the correct spelling. To be fair, the brand pronunciation is a closer match for the "Meyer" spelling, while "Mayer" is often pronounced differently, as in the musician John Mayer's name. Location of New Zealand Google Maps Where is New Zealand in relation to Australia? If you look at a map, you will see that it is southeast of the country. However, there is a community of people who claim to remember New Zealand being northeast instead of southeast. Berenstein Bears The famous children's book series the "Berenstain Bears" created by Stan and Jan Berenstain is not immune to the Mandela effect. Many people report remembering the name being the Berenstein Bears (spelled with an "e" instead of an "a"). This is similar to the Oscar Mayer issue and hints at perhaps an underlying cognitive reason for the Mandela Effect instead of parallel realities, as some people believe.

We chugged some chocolate whole milk to fuel this amazing episode! The main training topic was on why testosterone levels are relevant for all endurance athletes. While individuals have different genetic set-points for testosterone, studies on men and women show that training and fueling interventions can change baseline levels. Those changes can be positive, leading to more energy and better performance... or negative, possibly contributing to fatigue in training and life. We break down the complicated science, along with what athletes can do to optimize their levels safely and legally. And this episode was stuffed with the best discussions! Other topics: a study on caffeine and deception, lower-mileage training that features more cross training, Allie Ostrander's inspiring story of qualifying for Team USA in cross country, Cooper Teare's nose strip, breathing exercises and heart rate variability, a breaking-news study on performance impacts from strategic low-carb approaches, the prevalence of drug use in endurance athletes, our obsession with Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell, Jack Scott's triumph at the Spine Race, and our appreciation of David Goggins. Hour 3 Gio is locked in to playing golf these days. His competitive juices are back ever since he won the Biggest Loser of Sayville contest. We took calls on the LIV Golf merger with the PGA Tour. The PGA Tour people look like hypocrites, but they are a lot richer now. Jerry returns for an update and has audio from yesterday's news conference with Jay Monahan talking about the merger between the PGA Tour and LIV golf. Unnamed golfers are saying he needs to step down now. The Mets lost down in Atlanta and didn't do much on offense. Aaron Judge was put on the IL with his toe injury. Jacob de Grom needs Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career and he was quite upset talking to reporters. It reminds us of Chris Carlin crying while saying goodbye to the show, ‘Loud Mouths'. The Jets canceled mini-camp next week because they are playing in the Hall of Fame game and he wants the players to have a break. In the final segment of the hour, Spike seemed like he was moping when he came in today. Boomer wonders if Gen Z is phasing out liverwurst. Gio wonders how the baloney business is. We talked about the Oscar Mayer.
Hour 1: The PGA Tour and LIV Golf are merging. PGA Commissioner Jay Monahan looks like a total hypocrite today. Boomer said LIV Golf was going to be out of business in 2-3 years. Boomer said they are going to need to make whole PGA players that did not go to LIV for the big money, but Gio said there is no way they can make up that money. Gio said nobody will care by next year and we'll all be happy to be watching the best golfers all playing together again. Gio thinks the NBA could be next for a LIV golf situation. Jerry is here for his first update of the day but first we talk about him going bald. Jerry has audio from Jay Monahan talking to Jim Nantz from not long ago talking about families of 9/11 and LIV golf. He looks like a total hypocrite. Boomer thinks he needs to resign. He saved the PGA Tour but he needs to leave. The Mets lost to the Braves in Atlanta even though they were up 4-1 at one point. John Sterling was back in the Yankees broadcast booth. The Yankees lost to the White Sox 3-2. Jacob de Grom will need season ending Tommy John surgery. It will be his second. Bills Safety Damar Hamlin was a full participant in OTAs. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the reactions in the golf world to the PGA and LIV merger. Hour 2: We talked more about the merger between the PGA Tour and LIV golf. This seemed to have come out of the blue and many people involved seemed surprised by this, including the golfers. How will the PGA Tour work the LIV golfers back into their tour? A caller said this reminds him of the Godfather, saying ‘it's business'. A caller doesn't think this can happen in another sport like the NBA because of contracts. A caller who visits Saudi Arabia for business said there are tons of American companies there. You can go to McDonald's or the Cheesecake Factory there. He also said the Saudis are the largest investor in Uber and we still take Ubers. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Jay Monahan and Yasir Al Rumayyan on CNBC yesterday. Brandel Chamblee expressed his disapproval on the Golf Channel. The Yankees lost to the White Sox as John Sterling was back in the radio booth. Seby Zavala hit 2 HRs for the Sox. Is Gen Z phasing out liverwurst and how's the baloney business these days?
It's getting hot over here on The Cadillac Jack My Second Act podcast. The weather. The weather is getting hot. Donna talks about her experience as a mom during summertime and the onslaught of boredom all you moms out there are about to be challenged with…from your kids. We all have big plans for the summer that just never end up panning out. Just go with it. Apparently, Americans are getting pretty high at work. Like, to record highs. Pun intended. What gives? Was it the pandemic? Changes to state laws? Public perception? We don't know, but we'd encourage you to take up a job in creative circles if you choose to partake. How could the Weinermobile be called anything else? Well, apparently it can, as Oscar Meyer has announced that going forward it will be called the Frank Mobile. That's…dumb. Thank you to everyone we saw at the Red, White and Blue Parking Lot Party at Gallery Furniture! It was so good to see and catch up with so many of you and we hope you keep in touch throughout the year. Have any recommendations for the Hype Song Playlist? Text or call 770-464-6024.
Listen in as Donny gives his "Brand Up" or "Brand Down" rating on YouTube, Oscar Meyer, Ted Cruz, and others in this week's edition of Brands of the Week.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It's Plant Something Day, a dentist gives a scientific update on Johnny Depp's teeth, The Rock is back for the Fast franchise, a list of warnings when booking a vacation rental, people are too tired to be healthy, and Oscar Meyer introduces the Frank mobile!
In this edition of Gould v. PatinkTrend, Jack and Miles discuss the new Fox News line-up, Donna Deegan (D) winning Jacksonville's mayoral race, Diane Feinstein's response to her absence from Washington, a teacher using ChatGPT as some sort of a lie detector, DeSantis' Disney Oversight Board suggesting tap water turns people gay, Oscar-Meyer changing the name of the WienerMobile, and people being too tired to lead a healthier lifestyle!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
