Gordon started working for international title Whisky Magazine in 2003 gaining incredible insights and knowledge of the whisky industry and setting up the famous Whisky Live shows internationally in the US, Asia and Australia. In 2011, Gordon then joined Morrison Bowmore Distillers (and laterally Beam Suntory) as Global Brand Ambassador working in European, Asian and Travel Retail markets. Working on Bowmore, Auchentoshan and Glen Garioch initially then the whole Beam Suntory whisky portfolio. Gordon was honoured to be appointed a Keeper of the Quaich in 2013. In 2017, Gordon joined family owned Ian MacLeod Distillers Ltd (IMD) as International Brand Ambassador. IMD were awarded Whisky Magazine's 2018 Distiller of the Year, and are producers of the award winning Glengoyne, Tamdhu and Smokehead single malt whiskies along with Edinburgh Gin. In 2017 IMD also purchased Rosebank and are currently in the process of re-building this iconic distillery. Coach Ian Macleod has been a part of the Newcastle Eagles club for two decades. It was no surprise that he was given the reigns to lead one of the most successful clubs in the UK!
Ian Macleod is in his second year as the Newcastle Eagles head coach, having taken up the helm after Fab Flournoy, the former player/coach of the Eagles left to join Nick Nurse's staff on the Toronto Raptors in 2018. Fab's input helped the Newcastle Eagles become the winningest franchise in BBL history - winning the treble three times since 2005, with star players such as himself, Charles Smith and Darius Defoe. The Eagles record boasts 7 BBL Championships, 6 BBL Playoffs wins, 5 BBL Cup wins and 7 BBL Trophy wins. In addition to this, Fab leads the Eagles in all-time, assists, blocks, rebounds and steals so not a bad mentor to have! When Charles Smith retired in 2016, this left the door open for the newly recruited PG Ramon Fletcher to take the helm for the clubs new era. Coach Macleod was an academy coach with the Eagles for over a decade before being given the chance to become an assistant coach by Fab in 2013, the year before Fletcher came to the team. Macleod had ambitions to become a coach from the age of five, initially in football but this quickly transitioned to basketball. In this podcast, we'll discuss his successful first year campaign, winning the BBL Trophy against the up and coming NBL team, the Solent Kestrels - where he became one of very few coaches to win silverware in his first season. We'll discuss what it's like to build a team in the BBL, where year to year contracts are the norm and take a trip down memory lane to discuss his basketball journey as well as his aspirations for this year's side, who have come out strong in the BBL Cup with a 3-2 record.

Christmas came a couple of months early for some Scotch Whisky lovers with word that the iconic Port Ellen, Brora, and Rosebank distilleries will be reopened over the next couple of years. Diageo will invest $46 million to bring Port Ellen and Brora back to life, while Ian Macleod Distillers has acquired not only the old Rosebank site, but the rights to the Rosebank name and its remaining whisky inventory. We'll talk with Diageo's Dr. Nick Morgan and Gordon Doctor of Ian Macleod about the work that's ahead before the spirit starts flowing from the stills. Scott Watson of The Lost Distillery Company has been reviving historic distillery legacies in Scotland for the last decade, with extensive research to recreate the whiskies those long-lost distilleries might be making today, and he'll share some of that process with us as well. In the news, Heaven Hill completes a massive $25 million expansion at its Bernheim Distillery, while a Sonoma County craft distiller has managed to dodge the Northern California wildfires so far. We'll also have the week's tasting notes and some of your ideas on which heritage distillery should be revived next.
