My Hebrew Calendar says that today is the 2nd day of the Feast of Weeks, so I am posting the Feast of Weeks Episode again for today. If you are blessed by today's Bible study, please support my channel by liking, subscribing, commenting, and sharing with your friends and family! I am not a Pastor, and agree with God's word that women are not supposed to be Pastors. However, all people are called to share the gospel. It is perfectly acceptable and Biblical for women to lead Bibles studies outside the church as an ancillary addition to the church, and especially if it is a viable avenue for study of the Word on a daily basis, like I'm doing on this show, and paving the way for all of us to be closer to the Lord and become more knowledgeable of the Bible. "Immorality Defiles the Church" and "Immorality Must Be Judged" How long have we been told that we are not supposed to judge others?  Is that true, or are we called to learn to discern according to God's ways so we can judge and be like Him? In the New Millenium, we will be in charge of His court and we will judge angels.  This passage actually describes who we are supposed to judge, and who we are not supposed to judge, as well as who to actually remove from our churches.   If you are blessed by today's Bible study, please support my channel by liking, subscribing, commenting, and sharing with your friends and family!  I am not a Pastor, and agree with God's word that women are not supposed to be Pastors.  However, It IS perfectly acceptable and Biblical for women to lead Bibles studies outside the church, and especially if it is a viable avenue for study of the Word on a daily basis, paving the way for all of us to be closer to the Lord and become more knowledgeable of the Bible. Healing Rain Sue Detweiler pt 2 Are you tired of encountering walls of resistance on your path to healing? If you are, know that you are not alone. Many believers face the trenches of despair and sickness, feeling trapped and powerless in their circumstances. Throughout my experiences over the last 30 years and through the stories shared by many people I've interviewed over the last few years on this podcast, I have witnessed the incredible wisdom and life-changing power of divine healing over and over again. I've seen hearts mended, bodies restored, and lives forever transformed by the miraculous touch of Jesus. Divine healing is not a far-fetched concept reserved for a select few; it is a reality available to every believer.  The redeeming force of Christ's sacrifice knows no bounds, and through understanding and embracing this truth, you can walk confidently toward complete restoration. To help explain this even further, we are blessed to have as our guest today, Sue Detweiler. Sue is a pioneer woman pastor who began preaching at the age of 19. She and her husband, Wayne,  planted and co-pastored their first church at the age of 22. She has a strong prophetic teaching gift, and has equipped men and women to become pastors, evangelists, and missionaries to the nations. She is an in demand international speaker and travels to Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. She is a recognized member of Randy Clark's Global Awakening Network and Apostle Guillermo Maldonado's Supernatural Global Network. She has been recognized with the highest recognition from the president of the Foursquare Church, Jack Hayford, for leading “Life School of Ministry,” a three-year Bible training institute in Nashville. Her latest book is “Healing Rain: Immersing Yourself in Christ's Love to Find Wholeness of Mind, Body, and Heart” – which we will also be discussing today. Amen! Let's shift gears a bit. I want to discuss your book, “Healing Rain.”  This inspiration for this book came from your own health crisis while on a trip to Brazil. Can you share about that with us? Why did you believe now is the right time to publish this book? How did the Lord move upon your heart to take on this book project? How many books have you written over the years? You believe every believer should have a “healing team.”  Explain what that is and why it is so important? In your book, you have a story about a church in Brazil where the church members had someone praying around the clock, someone every 15 minutes, praying for the pastor's wife and daughter. Can you tell us about that story and why it was included in your book? There is probably someone listening to us right now who is struggling to receive their healing or they know someone who is struggling to receive their healing. What would you say to them right now, in their struggles? Share with us about your podcast, “Healing Rain.” How long have you been podcasting? It's an interview based podcast? Amen! Help me welcome to the program, Sue Detweiler!  Sue, it is so good to have you on the program today. I do appreciate you taking the time to join us today! First question I always ask is this. Other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Sue Detweiler? I want to clarify something that I read during the intro… you planted a church at age 22? When did you first recognize the Spiritual Gift of Divine Healing was active in your life? You've ministered and traveled extensively across this planet… how have you seen God supernaturally heal bodies, minds and hearts during your travels? Let's shift gears a bit. I want to discuss your book, “Healing Rain.”  This inspiration for this book came from your own health crisis while on a trip to Brazil. Can you share about that with us? Why did you believe now is the right time to publish this book? Folks, do you continue to hit walls of resistance as you pursue healing? Sue Detweiler, prophet and host of the popular Healing Rain podcast, and author of the great book, “Healing Rain: Immersing Yourself in Christ's Love to Find Wholeness of Mind, Body, and Heart” has helped thousands of believers move from the trenches of despair and sickness into the fields of

Get ready to explore the transformative power of Christ's healing. In this episode of Flourish-Meant, host Tina Yeager engages in a captivating conversation with Sue Detweiler, renowned speaker, podcast host, and author of "Healing Rain." Sue Detweiler is an inspirational author, prophetic speaker, and host of the Healing Rain podcast listened to in 135 nations. She is a recognized member of Randy Clark's Global Awakening Network and Apostle Guillermo Maldonado's Supernatural Global Network. Sue also received the highest recognition from the president of the Foursquare Church, Jack Hayford, for leading Life School of Ministry, a three-year Bible training institute in Nashville that grew to five hundred students. She earned a Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt University and is pursuing a doctorate with Global Awakening Theological Seminary.  Sue Detweiler began preaching at the age of 19. With her husband, Wayne, she planted and co-pastored their first church at the age of 22. With a strong prophetic teaching gift, Sue has equipped men and women to become pastors, evangelists, and missionaries to the nations. She is an international speaker and travels to Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.  Sue shares profound insights and personal experiences that will leave you inspired and equipped to embark on your own healing journey. Throughout the discussion, Sue emphasizes the importance of exploring spiritual solutions when facing chronic illness. She compassionately reminds us that being sick is not our fault and that physical symptoms can be real and medically verifiable. Sue sheds light on the impact of isolation from the community of God and constant negative thoughts, which can manifest as demonization. Believing that inner healing, deliverance, and physical healing often go hand in hand, Sue unveils unforgiveness as a doorway for the enemy. Drawing from her own triumph over childhood abuse and a spirit of rejection, Sue showcases the power of Jesus as the ultimate healer who can bring freedom from negative realities. Sue's deep love and admiration for God's healing abilities shine through as she addresses prevalent unbelief and its manifestation as doubt in the truth of God's word. While acknowledging the fallen world we live in, Sue encourages us to consider that healing may not always be 100% successful on Earth but can occur in heaven. Recognizing the connection between our mindset and our physical well-being, Sue explores the significance of replacing a victim mentality with a victor mentality. She invites us to focus on the word of God and magnify the truth that Jesus is the healer, thereby shifting our perspective and aligning our bodies with God's truth. Throughout the episode, Sue provides practical resources to enhance our healing journey. She invites listeners to visit their website and download the "7 Keys of Divine Healing," which delves into the transformative impact of Jesus Christ's work on the cross. Additionally, Sue generously offers written prayers for expressing gratitude to God for each bodily system, highlighting the supernatural aspects of our bodies' ability to heal. The power of communion as a practical step for healing is emphasized by Sue, who shares a heartwarming anecdote about her daughter experiencing a potential miscarriage but claiming the life of the baby through prayer and communion, resulting in a healthy birth. Sue believes that taking communion regularly and with faith can bring about a change in mindset and emotional state, allowing us to receive Jesus as our healer. The presence of demonic forces in our lives is a topic Sue courageously addresses, drawing from her personal experiences and spiritual growth. She recounts a powerful story of a friend who suffered from severe gastrointestinal issues and found deliverance from a spirit of trauma in a healing meeting. After being delivered, her friend experienced complete healing. To close the episode, Sue highlights the importance of understanding our identity as imprinted by God and outlined in His word. She invites listeners to explore her book, "Healing Rain," which provides a blueprint for applying this understanding to their lives. Sue delves into the power of reframing difficult circumstances, allowing for authentic expression of feelings while acknowledging faith in Jesus as the ultimate healer. Sue introduces the concept of a healing team, emphasizing the power of a supportive community to address crises and overcome medical statistics through faith in God's reality. The importance of believing in God's report and receiving breakthroughs and turning points in life is beautifully underscored. In closing, Sue expresses compassion for those who are sick and suffering, recognizing the need for a breakthrough and for Jesus to be present as our healer. She reminds us that healing often involves a journey of transformation in our hearts and souls. Join us on Flourish-Meant as we dive into Sue Detweiler's incredible insights and experiences. Welcome my friends to season 3 of the Determined to Dance podcast. My prayer is that you'll be encouraged to persevere daily in our chaotic world. Today's episode, The Storms of Life, looks at times when our world falls apart. Show Notes: The Storms of Life Life is tough. Bad things do happen to good people. You know it and so do I. And I believe the storms of life are hardest to take when they immediately follow a good season. You know, when everything is going right, the grass is greener on your side of the fence, and dreams are being realized right and left. You've fought the good fight and won. In his book Pursuing the Will of God, Jack Hayford said: “Spiritual warfare will culminate in victory when we war in the will of God. But you will always find that after the victory there will be another subtle approach of the enemy—in a very different sort of attack…while we're wrapping up with our victory lap, waving at the cheering crowds, the serpent slithers in again from a totally unexpected angle. While we're celebrating and feeling good about the outcome of the great battle, the enemy immediately sets to work contriving another—and usually very different—sort of trap. It's oh-too-easy to fall flat on our faces right after we have won a victory and our face is aglow with joy.” This is oh-so-true. And at times I find myself in the middle of enjoying life waiting for the other shoe to drop. I mean, life is good, calm, and peaceful. Instead of relaxing and building up myself in the Lord, I'm worrying. Anxious. Stressed. No wonder God says that sufficient for today is its own trouble. Why can't I believe that? Maybe because: I trust in my ability to control my life. I find it hard to hand over the reins of life to God. I'm afraid if I don't handle it, who will? I mean, God's busy, right? I believe in the lies of the enemy instead of the word of God. Now I'm really depressed. How can I change? I can start by admitting my pride, and my need to control. It's a daily battle, but one I must fight if I'm to stop the anxiety. I can then hand my fear to God. Let faith answer when fear knocks. God is interested in every facet of my life, no matter how small. And get into God's word. The word is the sword and how can I fight lies if I don't know the truth? Jeff Walling says: “…He calls out to the Lord. And God's response is shocking in its consistency…He just does what God does best—he loves him forever…Like Jesus on the boat with his disciples, God stills the waves and brings peace.” I still struggle when the storms hit, especially when I don't see them coming. But I'm learning more and more to turn to God and watch him meet my needs. Let's pray: Father God, we love You and need You every day, especially when we are facing storms in our lives. Help us to remember to turn to you and not get caught up in pride, fear, and deception. You are our only hope. Thank you that you can handle every problem that comes our way. In Jesus' name, we pray, amen. Today's featured authors, Deb, and Bruce Potts, wrote Love on Life Support, a second-chance romance. On today's program, one of the largest United Methodist churches in the country, and the largest in South Carolina, is preparing to leave the denomination.  And the Internal Revenue Service is far behind in its efforts to process Form 990s.  This backlog is a blow to transparency and accountability.  We'll explain why.  And we remember pastor, author, and hymn writer Jack Hayford, who died last week at age 88.  We begin today with former Celebration Church pastor Stovall Weems.  He and his wife Kerri have settled with First Citizens Bank after a claim stating they defaulted over $700,000 in unpaid debt. A few final notes…  Last week I mentioned how grateful I was to those of you who contributed to our year-end fundraising campaign, but I didn't have a final number.  Now I do.  We had what was for us an ambitious goal of $81,000 for the months of November and December combined.  We ended up raising about $87,000.  So, again, THANK YOU. Also, I mentioned earlier the importance of the Form 990.  We use them every day here at MinsitryWatch, and we encourage donors to look at them before they give to a ministry.  In the past we've done a webinar entitled “How To Find and Read A Form 990.”  This webinar has proven so popular that we've repeated it three or four times over the past two years.  And we're going to do it again.  It will take place on Feb. 1 at 4 pm ET.  Just check the daily MinistryWatch email for a link to the registration page.  It's absolutely free, but you do need to register to get all the links and details. Finally, it's been a while since I've asked you, our listeners, to rate or leave a comment on your podcast app.  But our listenership has nearly doubled in the past year, and if you are new to the podcast, please do leave us a rating and a comment.  Not only do these comments help us know what you're thinking so we can make improvements, but the more ratings and comments we have, the more visible the podcast becomes to search engines who make those automated recommendations that you sometimes see when you are listening to podcasts.  In other words, your ratings help other people find us.  That's a huge help to us, and it helps us expand our reach. The producers for today's program are Rich Roszel and Jeff McIntosh.  We get database and other technical support from Stephen DuBarry, Emily Kern, Rod Pitzer, and Casey Sudduth. Writers who contributed to today's program include Jessica Eturralde, Anne Stych, Kim Roberts, Andrea Suozzo, Yonat Shimron, Alejandra Molina, Christina Darnell, and Rod Pitzer. A special thanks to ProPublica for contributing material for this week's podcast. Until next time, may God bless you.

It's Wednesday, January 11th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Open Doors USA becomes Global Christian Relief Open Doors USA is relaunching as Global Christian Relief after leaving persecution watchdog group Open Doors International. The rebranded ministry retains the same board of directors and CEO, David Curry. Global Christian Relief's new website says, “For 50 years, Open Doors USA has supported persecuted Christians. We need a larger vision to mobilize dedicated Christians to support our persecuted family in new and life-changing ways that will expand God's Kingdom for the next 50 years. Our vision is to create the most extensive, covert network serving persecuted Christians.” Open Doors International will continue to maintain a presence in the U.S. and publish the annual World Watch List of the top 50 nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. 1 Corinthians 12:26 says, “If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.” British survey reveals only 3% are sexually perverted A new census from England and Wales asked the population, for the first time, about so-called gender identity and sexual orientation.  Ninety percent of respondents answered the optional questions. The 2021 census data found 89% of citizens said they were heterosexual.  In total, those living sexually perverted lifestyles represented 3.1% of the population. This number comes in contrast to estimates by liberal activist groups that claim 5-10% of the population is non-heterosexual. Scottish Catholic church in decline The Roman Catholic Church in Scotland is facing a wave of closures in the face of falling attendance and rising costs. A spokesman for the Scottish Catholic Church told The Times U.K., “With a few exceptions, attendance and income in every diocese are down significantly following the pandemic.” Scotland's largest archdiocese of Glasgow runs a deficit. One Edinburgh priest said parishioners appear more interested in spending money on Netflix subscriptions and football season tickets than supporting their local parish. Decline in American church attendance Meanwhile in the U.S., a new report by the Survey Center on American Life shows a decline in church attendance since the pandemic. Thirty-three percent of Americans said they never attend religious services last year, up from 25% before the pandemic.  Religious identity remained the same for most adults despite the increase in those who didn't attend church. The report found that young adults experienced the greatest change in religious attendance of any group. Psalm 84:10 says, “For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Pastor and hymn writer Jack Hayford went to Heaven Jack Hayford, a prominent pastor, author, seminary chancellor, and the man who wrote the popular contemporary Christian worship song “Majesty,” among 600 others, died this past Sunday at his Los Angeles home at the age of 88, reports The Christian Post. The ministry said, “We mourn his loss but celebrate the homecoming of a great leader in God's kingdom. We know that this great servant and worshipper is now experiencing the greatest worship service of all.” On Family Talk with Dr. James Dobson, where Hayford addressed the importance of praying for your family, he explained how God told him to honor the Sabbath after 20 years of disobedience in that regard. HAYFORD: “The most profound impact on me came when I realized that there was a subtle form of idolatry in my violating the observance of a day of rest each week. The idolatry was the supposition that I was wiser than God or had more strength than Him.” Man, pretending to be a woman, burned down Portland church A man, who pretends to be a woman, confessed to burning down a 117-year-old church building in downtown Portland, Oregon last Tuesday. Police arrested 25-year-old Cameron David Storer and charged him with multiple counts of arson and burglary. Storer told police that voices in his head were threatening to mutilate him if he did not burn down the building. The structure once housed the Portland Korean Church and has been vacant for 10 years. Virginia parent acquitted of bizarre trespassing charge Last Wednesday, Virginia's Loudoun County Circuit Court acquitted Jon Tigges of trespassing charges. The military veteran was one of 700 who showed up for a county school board meeting in June of 2021. Concerned parents and citizens came to protest the school's transgender policy, COVID mandates, and the teaching of the critical race theory. After hearing from 50 of the 250 parents who signed up to speak, Superintendent Scott Ziegler took a recess and then announced that the gathering was an “unlawful assembly.”  When Tigges insisted that he had a right to be in the room and explained that he would not leave, he was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing. After last week's ruling, Tigges said, “I hope this victory only encourages more parents to speak out and get involved to take back their children's education and reclaim their basic rights.” Pro-life laws are being challenged State supreme courts are hearing cases against abortion bans enacted in response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.  Last Thursday, Idaho's Supreme Court upheld two anti-abortion laws. One of the laws banned abortions in the event that Roe was overturned, and the other one banned abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. In contrast, South Carolina's Supreme Court struck down a similar six-week abortion ban last week. Farmers vs. John Deere tractors And finally, U.S. farmers won a long-sought victory this week to be able to repair their own John Deere tractors. Farmers have complained for years about the company's repair limitations and software locks, saying they interfere with timely planting and harvesting. Under the new agreement, farmers now have the same documentation and diagnostic tools used by John Deere authorized repair shops and can fix their equipment themselves or use an independent shop. Welcome to season 2 of the Determined to Dance podcast. I pray that you'll be uplifted, encouraged, and will move forward each and every day. Today's episode, Daring to Dance with God, focuses on season three and what happens when the dance and ministry join hands. Remember: Daring to Dance with God Twenty-five or so years ago, a guy at church handed me a book. “I think you need to read this,” he said. That book was Max Lucado's When God Whispers Your Name. I devoured every page, totally unaware that there was such a thing as Christian non-fiction books. For the next ten years, I read little fiction, my reading confined to the Bible and books by authors like Max Lucado, Billy Graham, Joyce Meyer, Tommy Tenney, Jack Hayford, Stormie Omartian, and Jeff Walling. Jeff Walling? You may ask. Who is that? He is a motivational and inspirational speaker and former pastor. He wrote three books, from what I can tell. And one changed my life. Daring to Dance with God. Honestly, all the books I read over that ten-year period were like pieces of the puzzle slowly fitting together to point me more toward who I was and the purpose and plan that God had for me. But, in my early thirties, dancing with God was something I'd never heard of. Never considered. Wondered if it were even possible. And slowly. One pirouette. One twirl. One faulty step and tumble on the dance floor followed by a flawless plie' followed by me whining to God about why in the world I ever thought I could dance. How could I flow and enjoy something so difficult at times as dancing? But Father God didn't give up on me. He still doesn't. On the very first episode of this podcast (which is a dance all by itself) I shared the initial analogy that brought me to this point: “I'll never forget the day that the thought, the God-nudge flooded my mind in that deep, quiet part within. God whispered that I had marched for Him and that was good but now he wanted me to dance with him instead. That analogy meant so much to me. I wept, then trembled with fear. It was one thing to march. If you've ever watched a high school band at a football game, you'll notice a set pattern. They've perfected their routine before the game. And practiced as often as they could. Got the steps down pat. Totally prepared. Like I tended to be. But dancing, the kind I knew God was talking about, would be very different. I was being asked to join and not take the lead. I wouldn't know exactly where on the dance floor I might end up. Maybe a quiet corner, or in a group of other dancers, or even in the center of the room, drawing every eye to us. As the orchestra played in the background, it would change and so would the dance. A fiery tango. A beautiful waltz. The Macarena? Even line dancing wouldn't be out of the question. Some parts would remain the same. I would still need the determination, the perseverance I'd learned over my years of marching for God. But it wouldn't be the determination to follow the patterns and stay in perfect line and timing. Instead, it would be the determination to surrender to God's will. Every time. Like writing a novel. Starting a podcast. Obedient, step by step. I would follow God's dance, his lead, his music, and go to the part of the dance floor where He led.” Dancing with God, following His will and way spontaneously, without thought for what others think hasn't been easy. But it has been the best decision I ever made next to asking Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. I hope to take the next step in season three. For myself and for you, the listener. I plan to challenge us both to a deeper relationship with God, more chances to make a difference in the lives of others, and more joy. Who couldn't use more joy in our chaotic world? In the words of Walling, “He (God) demands that we open ourselves to the unexpected, the unpredictable, and even the unexplainable. The Bible is full of instances where God chose to work in ou...

Welcome to season 2 of the Determined to Dance podcast. I pray that you'll be uplifted, encouraged, and will move forward each and every day. Today's episode, Praying in the Spirit, focuses on prayer and the Holy Spirit. Show Notes: Praying in the Spirit After thirty-seven episodes of prayer, you have probably figured out that I love to pray. To talk to God about anything and everything. He is truly the only one who totally “gets” me: my quirks, my weirdness, my pain, my joy. I don't know how I would get through one day without talking to my Father. I found through my study that the term “Praying in the Spirit” means a lot of different things to different people. Especially among various denominations. In Ephesians 6:18, Paul says: “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” NLT Jacob Gregory said, “No human can pray without divine help.” I agree that we can do nothing in and of ourselves. We need God every second of every day. Praying in the Spirit is basically God enabling us to pray through His Spirit. I found three ways to pray in the Word: In your native language. In a spiritual language. In groanings too deep to utter. Here are scriptures I found to support this: “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.” Romans 12: 10-13 NKJV “Well then, what shall I do? I will pray in the spirit, and I will also pray in words I understand. I will sing in the spirit, and I will also sing in words I understand.” I Corinthians 14:15 NLT “Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” Romans 8:26 NKJV “Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy and do not forbid to speak with tongues. Let all things be done decently and in order.” I Corinthians 14: 39-40 NKJV My times in prayer are deeply personal and uplifting to me. I want to be as close to God as possible while on this earth and look forward to an eternity spent with Him. I don't understand life as much as I would like to but I know God loves me and is even pleased with me. Years ago, I thought of God more as a judge than a Father. I know now that He is both and his judgment is tempered with mercy. I really can't wait until the day when we will really know Him: “For now, we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.” I Corinthians 13:12 NKJV I'll leave you with this thought. When comparing prayer in one's native language or a prayer language, Jack Hayford says, “Each form of prayer is at a different dimension, and neither should be described as “less than.” How can the Grand Canyon and the Swiss Alps be compared? It's impossible and unnecessary to do so. Rather, be it languages we employ or creation we behold, let us all be humbled before all manifestations of His Majesty's glory. Let us rise together to praise the Creator of all prayer as readily as we worship the Creator of all things. To do so is to be open to experiencing the enjoyment and the blessing available in exploring the dimensions to which each realm invites us.” From The Beauty of Spiritual Language. Let's pray: Father God, we thank You for the Holy Spirit and the gifts He bestows on Your children. We love talking and singing to You in all ways and forms. You are good and love each of us as individuals, and that is amazing. We are never a number but are chosen, accepted, and deeply loved. You are awesome beyond words. In Jesus' name, we pray, amen.

Jesus has sent an end time anointing to prepare the way for his return.  I first heard and received this anointing through Jack Hayford back in 1992.  I have helped spread this anointing for thirty years now.  I have seen thousands come into this mighty anointing. On Sunday night in Las Tunas Jesus poured out this anointing upon His people.  This anointing is for you!

Welcome to season 2 of the Determined to Dance podcast. I pray that you'll be uplifted, encouraged, and will move forward each and every day. Today's episode, Praying for Others: Pressing In, looks at how prayer can take new ground for the kingdom. Show Notes: Praying for Others: Pressing In Throughout this series of praying for others, I'll refer to scriptures and also different books I use as resources. Today's book about prayer is Penetrating the Darkness by Jack Hayford. The Hebrew word for intercession is pagah which means “to impinge, by accident or by violence.” The concept can include taking territory, pressing in, and praying through. Through prayer, we and those we lift up, can see the fullness of the boundaries that God intended for us to reach. We can be all and do all that God intends for us in His will. But not without prayer. Intercession and prayer are not interchangeable words. Intercession is a dimension of prayer. When we intercede for others, we seek guidance from the Father about ourselves or another person and their needs. What does interceding for others do? Intercession helps us align with the will of God. Jesus prays according to God's will. We find His will by seeking Him through His Word and prayer. “Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8: 26-27 Intercession fights against the attacks of the enemy. When we or others struggle, we pray against the work of the enemy and his advancement into our world and to see the love, mercy, and grace of God. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 Intercession takes new ground for the kingdom. We pray to see people brought to Jesus through salvation, experience a deeper relationship, and push the enemy back. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” II Corinthians 5:17 Intercession places us to respond to the unexpected. We can be at the right place and time to pray if we are sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:26 One evening, I was returning home after taking my granddaughter to the doctor. As I drove through town, I had an overwhelming sense to drive slower. My speed was normal and there were no cars close to me but it was such a strong nudge that I did just that. Right before I reached the next intersection, another car ran a red light and three cars collided. I was able to swerve past the accident, keeping me and my granddaughter safe. If I would have kept my normal speed, we would have been in the middle of the wreck. It also placed me where I could immediately pray for help to arrive timely for the people involved, peace and comfort in the chaos, and healing for those hurt. This isn't an example of an overwhelming miracle just for me. God speaks to all of us softly every day to aid us in life and place us to help others. I don't always take the time or limit distractions so I can hear His gentle voice, but I'm so glad I did that day. Jesus pressed in to accomplish the will of God through intercession. A most beloved part of the Bible, Isaiah 53: 5; 11-12 says: “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed … He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied.

The Lord led me to leave my career and serve God full-time. Since then I've been privileged to serve as a pastor in a local church for twelve years, I've written a few books that people tell me are good (I'll take their word for it), I've traveled to some faraway places and seen our God do some amazing things. I've preached a heck of a lot of sermons, too, but who's counting? Many pastors wondered why they even needed to be part of a church network, and some in Foursquare began raising those concerns directly to Glenn. Though he had many obstacles to navigate, the church as a whole gratefully accepted Glenn's leadership during that season. Out of those realities, Reimagine Foursquare was born, and the 86-year-old denomination (now 97) started to make noticeable changes. Because of Glenn's accessibility, including his prolific Facebook page, we experienced a leader who went far beyond the courtesies of typical executive leadership. When faced with tension, he took our calls, responded to our emails and flew out to our churches. “He broke the power-distance divide that haunts many organizations,” notes Ted Vail, vice president of global operations and director of Foursquare Missions International. In 2013 Glenn, along with General Supervisor Tammy Dunahoo, visited each district in a series of Town Hall Meetings to learn what our pastors and leaders wanted Foursquare to become. Foursquare chaplains, missionaries and affinity groups were also integral to the conversations.  “Having the ability to spend several hours with our ministers in locations all across the country to listen deeply to their perspectives was worth every minute,” recalls Tammy. “It gave our eyes and hearts new clarity for prayer for them as well as better understanding of the needs we could meet and ideas for change we could enact. Glenn's shepherd heart set the tone for each gathering, and we left feeling better connected and loving this Foursquare family all the more.” About Sue Detweiler and Healing Rain Sue Detweiler Sue Detweiler hosts Healing Rain, one of the fastest-growing podcasts on Charisma Podcast Network listened to in 113 nations. Day 52 Today's Reading: Luke 8 A friend of mine said, “You're only as sick as your secrets.” Christianity is not something that works well with secrets. In fact, in today's reading we come to an amazing chapter packed with teaching, healing, and miracles. Tucked away in this long chapter is one thing that Jesus taught that particularly stands out to me: Nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. (Luke 8:17) Or as The Message paraphrase puts it: We're not keeping secrets; we're telling them. We're not hiding things; we're bringing everything out into the open. Freedom happens when everything is out in the open. For us older folks . . . we remember growing up with television sets the size of a couch. A little white dot signified the television was warming up. We didn't have cable; we called it “rabbit ears”—an antenna that sat on top of the set, and if you were tech savvy you put aluminum foil on the antenna to get “better” reception. And because there was no remote, just a loose knob to change channels, when the knob fell off and someone lost it—as always seemed to happen in my house—we had to change channels with pliers. Televisions have changed. Everything is HD, 4K. You can see everything. Every drop of sweat, every wrinkle in the skin, the spit coming out of a mouth— it's all there in high definition. And in today's reading, Jesus is challenging us to living a life in high def. Though it is not easy, it is the best way. Something liberates others when people go high def. Living in high def, we have no secrets. Why is living high def the right way? Because . . . • Secrets don't work with God • Secrets always get exposed or get confessed (exposed by others or confessed by you) The bigger why is because sin grows in the dark. High def puts light on it and stunts its growth. When you put the light on something, you take the legs out from something growing bigger. You expose the lies that incubate in darkness. Let me challenge you with something: apologizers get exposed, confessors go high def. They tell the secrets before anyone else can. They build trust from vulnerability, not by portraying invincibility. I have learned this in my marriage and in any healthy relationship. When do I know there is growth in any relationship? When I confess my wrong before my spouse or friend confronts my wrong. I confess before I am confronted. I am convicted before they can get offended. That is a huge win and huge progress. This is putting light on secrets. This is living in hi def. Jesus warned us that all secrets are going to go public. As a Christian, I choose to make sure I have no secrets in my life, in my Christian walk, and in my marriage. It's so much easier to be real than to pretend. It takes a lot of work pretending. I remember Jack Hayford, former pastor of Church on the Way saying, “The holier a man is, the more real he is.” I want to be a real Christian. A group of new Christians went high def and this is what happened: “Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed what they had done” (Acts 19:18, NIV). That's high def, 4K. What did it do when they went honest? A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. . . . In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power. (Acts 19:19-20, NIV) Transparency and confession do more than bring healing: they start a revolution. Openly confessed . . . affects a number of people in the occult to change. I'm too exhausted pretending. I don't have that kind of energy to be impressive, but I do have just enough to be real. Do you?
