Have you ever felt completely powerless over a situation? Like you have zero control over the outcome? Jehosophat felt this way in 2 Chronicles 20. Today we look to him and read through his story to find joy in knowing the battle is not ours, but the Lord's, and He is the one with all the power and control.
This week we are joined by Dr. Mike Wiggins. Dr. Wiggins has recently retired from pastoring Pine Terrace Baptist Church for 36 years. Dr. Wiggins brings a strong message of Jehosophat seeking the Lord during trials. For more information about The Point Church, visit us online at www.tothepoint.church Sermon Points: 1. Pastor Jeremy shares Sunday in Glendive. Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. New Century Version: Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it. New Living Translation: Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Passion Translation: Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen. The Voice: Faith is the assurance of things you have hoped for, the absolute conviction that there are realities you've never seen. Faith is present tense, hope is future tense James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. ● You can believe that Jesus is the Son of God all day long. You can believe that God raised Him from the dead all day long...but until you actually ask Jesus to be the Lord of your life...you ain't gonna make it. Faith is Active, or Faith produces action, or Faith does something!! Josh 6 The Walls of Jericho 1. The word of the Lord came to Joshua in verses 1-5 2. Joshua received the word of the Lord, believed it, and set the people on an assignment to walk out the plan God had given them. 3. Joshua and the people had to act on what they believed by marching and shouting!! 2 Chron 20 Jehosophat and the Infantry Chorale 1. The set their attention toward the Lord 2. They received the word of the Lord 3. They stood still and knew that He was God!! Faith comes by hearing the Word of God, believing that word, and then that belief becomes an action. Hope, or a desire that hasn't manifested into the present yet, will lead us to the Word, then the Holy Spirit will reveal truth to us, we can believe that Word, apply it to our lives and then begin doing the Word. Now hope transforms from the future tense into the present tense by faith!! Mark 5 - Woman w/ issue of blood 1. She had heard of Jesus 2. She must have heard that Jesus had the ability to make her well. 3. It says “she said within herself” 4. She had a hope to one day be well. For a decade she went to the doctors and spent all that she had. 5. She heard about Jesus...faith comes by hearing 6. She received that word, spoke the word, and responded to that word. 7. Her faith made her well.
In this final message of our 'Breakthrough' series, we explore the account of Jehosophat to learn how praise is a weapon that brings about breakthrough!
The final days of King Ahab are an interesting glimpse into how the natural and supernatural worlds intermingle. King Ahab of Northern Israel and King Jehosophat of Judah decide to take back Ramoth-Gilead from Ben-Hadad II, the King of Syria. Before they decide to go into battle, Jehosophat asks for a prophet of Yahweh to seek the Lord. What happens next is God pulling back the veil and showing us just a glimpse of the supernatural world. Listen to this week's podcast to find out more about how God works between these two domains: the natural and the supernatural.
Rev. Bruce Timm of Redeemer Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, MN joins host Rev. Brady Finnern to study 2 Kings 3. We need a preacher. Jehoram, Jehosophat, and the king of Edom went to Elisha after seven days without water because “the word of the LORD was with him.” Once again God provided: water for the thirsty, victory over enemies, and peace for the anxious. We see a stark difference from the king of Moab to Elisha. The king looked for peace by sacrificing his son to fake gods--Elisha looked to the LORD who would have his son sacrificed for the peace of forgiveness, life, and salvation. “LORD God, give us a preacher to give us truth and peace. Keep us from trying to find out God’s will from anything other than God’s Word and keep us with You. Lord have mercy. Amen”
This week we are stroking webs and tossing pheromones all over the place to discuss “Gender Bender”! We're talking great set design, how cool it would be to change bodies at will, how much of a hussy Jehosophat is, how disgusting it is to slather apple sauce all over dead bodies, and why Mulder is always touching goo. On the serious side, we have some beef with the episode's regressive gender politics, light homophobia, heavy transphobia, and the absolutely baffling narrative logic. Listeners beware as Amanda threatens to delete everyone's social media. Also, please look up HR Giger's art.Send us an email at scullynationpod@gmail.com or follow us on Twitter and Instagram!
A friend of mine wrote me the other day and suggested that I should not use words like ‘Jeez’ as he believed that they were disrespectful of Jesus. Hmmm How far should we take this kind of logic. Jiminy Crickets’ could be interpreted as Jesus Christ. Darn/dang as damn; holy smoke as holy spirit; shoot, well you can guess that one as well as the next John Brown, Gosh almighty, and so forth. Can we use Great jumping Jehosophat’ or phooey? . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/index.php/2020/10/big-sin-little-sin-2/
Jehosophat is acknowledging who God is and what He does and the power and might in His hands. Who are you acknowledging?

The Holy Spirit meets us in our meetings. This was a challenge to take the presence of God onto the streets. With the boldness of Jehosophat who said, "I don't know what to do but I look to God".

The things that come against us in life are only temporary. We often mistakenly see them as means of our destruction, when they are actually means of our blessing. The true blessing is that they cause us to seek a more intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus and knowledge of His will for our lives. Jehosophat called for a time for seeking God through fasting and prayer. While we may have focused on the people, problems or the principalities in the past right now our eyes are on the Lord.

Looking through the history of the Kings of Israel we see two branches as it is split after the death of King Solomon. One is the righteous branch of David a lineage that ends with Jesus Christ and the other is a evil branch with continuous rebellions murders and conspiracies.
