Jesus is the only way. That statement in our culture today feels narrow and difficult. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." As we move toward Easter, we want to consider the truth of only Jesus being our hope and future. This week, we encounter Luke 24:1-12 and what only Jesus could accomplish through the resurrection. Speaker: Michael Bayne Text: Luke 24:1-12 ESV
Micah Lugg | In John 11:1–44, Jesus declares, “I am the resurrection and the life,” and then proves it by raising Lazarus from the dead. In this sermon, Pastor Micah Lugg shows that Christ's power extends beyond physical death to the deeper reality of spiritual life and salvation. _________________________

Granted, Christmas messages typically don't focus on the resurrection. But we're going to do just that in this study with the intent of raising the “merry” even further on your Christmas celebration.John 11:25-26
In this sermon from John 11, Pastor Andrey leads us through one of the most emotionally rich and theologically profound chapters in the Gospel of John—the raising of Lazarus from the dead. With pastoral warmth and careful exposition, he unpacks the beauty, sorrow, timing, and triumph found in Jesus' actions and words. We're invited to see the compassion of Christ as He weeps with His friends, the sovereign timing of God in seasons of confusion, and the resurrection power of Jesus that brings life from death. Pastor Andrey asks penetrating questions: What do we hold onto when everything seems to fall apart? Do we trust in God's timing even when it doesn't make sense?Walking through the chapter in three parts —Death and Life to the Glory of God (vv. 1–27)Life and the Defeat of Death by the Power of God (vv. 28–44)Unbelief and Animosity Toward the Son of God (vv. 45–57) —he shows how this miracle is not merely a story of one man raised, but a preview of the cross, and a picture of our salvation.

Jarek Berga - July 20th 2025 Jesus doesn't just build the Church—He builds us into it. In The King & His Kingdom series, we arrive at Matthew 16:13–20, where Jesus asks His disciples, “Who do you say I am?” Peter's confession of Jesus as the Christ becomes the foundation for a powerful promise: I will build my Church. This message presses us to consider the same question—and challenges us to live in light of Jesus' identity and mission. What we believe about Jesus will shape how we live, how we lead, and how we engage in the work of building His Church together. Through a study of the book of Acts, we're asking the Spirit to conform us to the patterns and practices of the early church — a people who love the lost like Jesus, give of themselves in rhythms of blessing and hospitality, and who seek to engage in curious, spiritual, and gospel conversations. We want the Spirit to do an Acts 3-4 kind of work this week, fulfilling Jesus's promise in Acts 1.8: You will receive power, and you will be my witnesses. What is our role? This week, our role is to repent and join in as the Spirit goes on the move out of the temple and begins to flow out of anyone who will join. The Spirit makes its way down the steps of the temple and into the homes of the followers of Jesus, demonstrating love and healing.
John 11:1-44 English Standard VersionThe Death of Lazarus11 Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ill. 3 So the sisters sent to him, saying, “Lord, he whom you love is ill.” 4 But when Jesus heard it he said, “This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.7 Then after this he said to the disciples, “Let us go to Judea again.” 8 The disciples said to him, “Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone you, and are you going there again?” 9 Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. 10 But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.” 11 After saying these things, he said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go to awaken him.” 12 The disciples said to him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.” 13 Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that he meant taking rest in sleep. 14 Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died, 15 and for your sake I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.” 16 So Thomas, called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.”I Am the Resurrection and the Life17 Now when Jesus came, he found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days. 18 Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off, 19 and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother. 20 So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary remained seated in the house. 21 Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” 23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.”Jesus Weeps28 When she had said this, she went and called her sister Mary, saying in private, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.” 29 And when she heard it, she rose quickly and went to him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha had met him. 31 When the Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary rise quickly and go out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there. 32 Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” 33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. 34 And he said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus wept. 36 So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” 37 But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?”Jesus Raises Lazarus38 Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.” 40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” 41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.”43 When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” 44 The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”English Standard Version (ESV)The Holy Bible, English Standard Version. ESV® Text Edition: 2016. In this lecture, Don Carson discusses John 11, focusing on Jesus's delayed response to Lazarus's illness and subsequent death. Carson highlights the irony in this account, illustrating how Jesus's actions reveal his sovereignty over death and his role as the resurrection and the life, ultimately pointing to his future sacrifice. Carson reflects on the broader implications of Jesus's death and resurrection, underscoring the fulfillment of God's plan for salvation. He teaches the following:Why understanding Jesus's claim as the resurrection and the life requires seeing it in the context of unfolding ironyHow Jesus demonstrated his love by delaying his response to Lazarus's deathThe narrative framework highlights Jesus's love for Martha, Mary, and LazarusThe mixed responses to Jesus's actions from the Jewish audienceThe fulfillment of Caiaphas's prophecy reveals that Jesus's death is also for the scattered children of GodJesus's resurrection power has an ongoing impact, both in individual lives and in future resurrection on the last day
Good Friday Jesus the Bread of LifeJohn 6:35-40 (NIV)“Jesus replied, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But you haven't believed in me even though you have seen me. However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them. For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will. And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day. For it is my Father's will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.'” Jesus The Good ShepherdJohn 10:11-17 (NIV)“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep. A hired hand will run when he sees a wolf coming. He will abandon the sheep because they don't belong to him and he isn't their shepherd. And so the wolf attacks them and scatters the flock. The hired hand runs away because he's working only for the money and doesn't really care about the sheep. I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. So I sacrifice my life for the sheep. I have other sheep, too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd. The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life so I may take it back again. No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded.” Jesus The Resurrection and the LifeJohn 11:25 (NIV)“ Jesus told her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.'” Jesus the Light of the WorldJohn 11:9 (NIV)“Jesus replied, ‘There are twelve hours of daylight every day. During the day people can walk safely. They can see because they have the light of this world.'”

In this message based on John 11:25, we explore the profound truth that Jesus Christ is not only able to raise the dead and give eternal life—He is the very source and embodiment of both. Resurrection and life are not merely things He gives—they are who He is. This sermon brings encouragement and hope to every believer, showing how this reality impacts our lives today, renews our faith, and anchors us in the promise of eternal life with Him.
Drawing upon the narrative of Lazarus in John 11, Stan exhorted the church regarding the redemptive power of Jesus Christ over the spiritual death of sin, contingent upon faith in Him.
Is there evidence for Jesus' life, death and resurrection? In part four of our series, Walking With Jesus: A Journey to the Cross with Major Dr. Terry Masango, we stand before the empty tomb—the defining moment that separates Christianity from every other faith tradition in the world. The resurrection isn't just an epilogue to the crucifixion—it's the validation of everything Jesus taught and claimed. It's the proof that death has been defeated, that sin has been conquered, and that the devil himself has been overthrown. As we prepare to celebrate Easter Sunday, Major Masango reminds us not to stay fixated on the cross and the darkness of Friday, but to press forward to the empty tomb and the light of Sunday morning. We're invited to move past the suffering and see the triumph. >>> Get your free Holy Week Art Journal here. EPISODE SHOWNOTES: Read more. BE AFFIRMED. Get the Good Words email series. “Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.” -John 20:30–31 No one on earth had a more intimate relationship with Jesus than the Apostle John and through his gospel, we can know and draw nearer to the One Who loves us more than we could ever hope and imagine. John wrote his gospel with a clear purpose in mind: that we might believe that Jesus is the One Who can save us, and experience the fullness of the life He offers both here and for eternity. Come along with us as we learn how to have that life in the powerful name of Jesus.
