March 31, 2025 Daily Devotion: "The Joyful Heart: Rejoicing Amidst Life Challenges" Philippians 4:4-7 (NIV)"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." As you find yourself in the transition of a new month, pause to reflect on the call to rejoice. In Philippians 4, Paul encourages us to maintain a spirit of joy no matter ourcircumstances, reminding us that the Lord is near. This truth can serve as a source of strength when faced with challenges or anxieties.

No matter what is happening around us, we can rejoice in our Father's presence.

Palm Sunday represents a crucial turning point in the Lord's ministry: it was the point at which He went from preaching in the outskirts of the countryside to directly challenging those at the heart of religious life. It also led to His death and eventual resurrection. There is also a turning point for us when we submit to the Lord as King: as He enters we find new challenges, unseen evils, and deep spiritual struggle. Yet ultimately it is all for the good: just as Palm Sunday points through the Crucifixion to Easter Sunday, the Lord's presence with us cuts through temptations and brings us to eternal peace.

I listened to the story of Debbie, a woman who was sexually abused in childhood and I truly resonate with. From the way we were both told to be quiet about our abuse, our journeys of healing, and our coping mechanisms.
