Guest's Info Pam Lanhart is a mother of four, grandmother of eight, author of "Praying Our Loved One Home," and founder of Thrive Recovery Resources. After experiencing the emotional rollercoaster of loving a family member with substance use disorder and struggling to find trustworthy treatment centers and evidence-based resources, Pam turned her pain into purpose by founding Thrive in 2016. Having grown up in a home where both parents struggled with alcohol use disorder, Pam brings a unique perspective as both a child affected by addiction and a parent who navigated her son's substance use journey. Thrive recognizes that families are critical components to recovery, providing support and proven strategies to empower real change that moves both the loved one and the family toward wellness. Highlights The boundary secret that actually STRENGTHENS your relationship with your addicted child (when everyone else is telling you to "detach with love") The hidden childhood wounds driving your seemingly "rational" responses to your loved one's addiction (and why understanding this changes everything) The gut-wrenching "make it stop" behaviors most parents don't even realize they're doing – that silently feed the addiction cycle instead of breaking it The Irish wisdom that cuts through all the noise and finally explains what your loved one is REALLY seeking when they use The life-altering question that stopped Pam in her tracks: "You say you'd die for your kids, but will you LIVE for them?" (and why your answer matters more than you know) The "last text" principle that will forever change how you communicate with your struggling loved one (Pam shares the final message she sent her son before losing him) The doorway-opening phrases your loved one is already saying that you're missing – that could lead to real change if you knew how to respond Why treating an addict with dignity – especially when they're actively using – might be the most powerful gift you haven't given (yet) The compassion approach that replaces outdated "tough love" tactics (and actually works to rebuild what addiction has torn apart) The uncomfortable truth about why some recover and others don't (and the only guarantee you CAN count on regardless of outcome) Listen as Pam vulnerably shares how she navigated her son Jake's addiction journey – from his pills in a backpack at 13 to the grief of ultimately losing him too soon, yet finding meaning and purpose through it all. This conversation isn't just about addiction – it's about reclaiming your life while still fighting for theirs. Standard Uranium CEO Jon Bey joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss the company's latest corporate developments and its positioning within an increasingly robust uranium market. With nuclear energy gaining renewed global momentum, Bey emphasized that uranium fundamentals remain exceptionally strong. “The outlook for nuclear and uranium over the next number of decades is remarkable,” he stated, underscoring a growing consensus on the critical role nuclear will play in the clean energy transition. As part of a strategic shift to strengthen market presence and accelerate growth, Standard Uranium announced several key leadership and advisory appointments. Among them is the engagement of Jasper Management Advisory Corp., headed by veteran mining executive Gord Keep, as a strategic partner. The company also welcomed Vivian Chuang as Chief Financial Officer and Alicia Krywaniuk as Corporate Secretary, signaling a renewed commitment to strengthening corporate governance and capital markets strategy. “These appointments are a foundational part of our effort to attract strategic shareholders and elevate our visibility within the investment community,” Bey said. In addition to the corporate updates, Standard Uranium continues to advance its project generator model, leveraging its exploration expertise across a portfolio of high-potential assets in Canada's Athabasca Basin. The company is actively collaborating with partners, including Arrow Energy, on exploration work at the Sun Dog project. Bey hinted at further updates in the near term, particularly on technical milestones that may drive value for shareholders. Despite short-term price fluctuations, Bey expressed confidence in the underlying uranium market fundamentals. He noted that many utility companies are expected to re-enter the market with long-term procurement contracts, a trend that could support sustained price growth and project development activity. Looking ahead, he described the second half of 2025 as a critical window for investors to position themselves in the sector. With a reinforced leadership team, expanding technical partnerships, and tailwinds from a structurally bullish uranium market, Standard Uranium is poised to play a pivotal role in the next wave of nuclear energy development. #proactiveinvestors #standarduraniumltd #tsxv #stnd #otcqb #sttdf #mining #Uranium #NuclearEnergy #StandardUranium #UraniumMining #ResourceInvesting #JonBey #JuniorMining #CleanEnergy #ExplorationStocks #MiningNews #StrategicInvesting #ProactiveInvestors
Your Hope-Filled Perspective with Dr. Michelle Bengtson podcast
Episode Summary: In this episode of Your Hope-Filled Perspective, author Rachel Wojo joins me to share how prayer sustains us through life’s hardest challenges. From heartbreaking loss to seasons of silence, Rachel opens up about the desperate prayers that carried her through—and the surprising power of just three simple words. You’ll be encouraged to let go of prayer perfectionism, lean into honest conversation with God, and discover hope that holds—even in the dark. Rachel shares the journey that inspired her book, Desperate Prayers: Embracing the Power of Prayer in Life’s Darkest Moments, and how the cries of biblical “desperados” mirror our own today. With vulnerability, she reflects on the grief of losing her daughter, Taylor, and the truth she had to whisper to her heart to keep going. If you've ever wondered how to pray when words fail, this conversation will remind you that God hears—even the smallest cries. Quotables from the episode: When I was a young adult, I grew up in a beautiful Christian home, went to Christian college, graduated, went on to teach in a Christian school, married a preacher boy, and so the white picket fence dream was just in sight. You know, I thought that I would be a pastor's wife and we would have a beautiful family and God would just use us to reach so many people across the world. And then I found out that my preacher husband was having an affair for four of the five years that we had been married. I discovered then that my special needs daughter who had been born during that time had more than just developmental delays, and her actual diagnosis was a rare metabolic disorder that would result in a lifespan of approximately 10 to 15 years is what they gave us at the time. And so your dreams just come crashing down with all of those dilemmas, and you wonder, "Is God real?" Desperate prayers became the cry of my heart early on. It would take a couple of decades. Taylor lived for 22 years. We had her much longer than the anticipated time, and my heart grew to just love the Lord so, so much and embrace His hope and His peace, His mercy and grace throughout Taylor's lifetime. God did give me an opportunity to remarry, and our beautiful redemption story includes five more children, so God has been gracious to us. But I know that when people are in hurting, dark situations like what I've just shared — whether it's divorce, disease, death, discouragement, depression, all of those big D words — they just bring us to a point of: do we trust God enough with how we're feeling to go to Him? Simple three-word prayers are powerful. They are powerful. We oftentimes feel like we have to have all the right words, and so we don't go to God in prayer because we can't even think of what we should say. Just boiling it down to simple three words — as I was walking through my daughter's suffering for so many years — I needed something I could remember. My brain fog was very prevalent during those years, and even afterwards, the grief caused that fog. I just needed some simple wording that I could hold on to. I realized that a conversation between God and me — it's just me and Him, right? It's just words between me and Him. So I simplified it: Address Him: "God" Add a verb for the need End with "me" Some of those very simple three-word prayers are: God hold me God heal me God revive me God show me God guide me Just asking Him to do what I couldn't do for myself. When we use the three-word prayer, we're admitting that He is God and we are not. We're not in control, as much as we want to be. And so those three-word prayers can really simplify our plan, our hearts, our minds, but they also can be deeply profound because God takes those words to His heart — and that's where His power steps in. Sometimes when I'm in those desperate seasons, I can have a really short memory of what God has already done in my life - which is why I'm so grateful for the Bible. Because even when I can't remember what God has done for me, we've got countless accounts of what God has done for other people. And in each chapter of Desperate Prayers, you focus on one Bible character that you call a desperado, and being from Texas, I love that. What do the desperate prayers of the Bible have in common with our prayers today? When I read those prayers, I get so excited because: They didn’t have their acts together — and neither do we have to. We all come to God in brokenness, in desperate need, in a state of destitution. I used to think that word "destitution" meant you had to physically have nothing, but there's spiritual destitution and emotional constitution and so many areas of our lives where we're just experiencing an emptiness, a void, and we need God. When I look at those Bible characters, I see men and women who recognized that looking up was the only way out. Whether the issue is infertility like Hannah, rejection like Hagar, or the many emotions David shares throughout the Psalms — no matter what the issue, we can take it to God. I take a lot of encouragement from those desperadoes. I had a little post-it note on my desk that said "Drop prayer perfectionism." It was a reminder that I don't have to have the words together. As an introverted person — an extroverted introvert — I can eventually articulate things, but my words often come out better on paper. That’s why I choose to prayer journal a lot. I'm so thankful that we don't have to have perfect words to go to God. He accepts them as they are. And when we don't have any words at all, that's when it’s amazing to see how He's already provided, even when we don't know what we need. Anyone who has lost a loved one — especially a child — knows this isn't the way God intended life to be lived. The very first parents, Adam and Eve, lost a child. And so I had to tell myself — probably the same thing Eve had to tell herself after Cain killed Abel: "I did not die when my son died. God has a plan for me." Those are the words I had to speak to myself: I did not die when my daughter died. God has a plan for me. It was a really difficult thing to tell myself. Because when you say that, you admit the truth: you would rather not live without your child. I appreciate so much that you say we need to speak truth to ourselves — even out loud. Because in times of greatest desperation, we're vulnerable to the enemy's lies. Speaking truth out loud: Reminds ourselves of the truth. Strengthens faith ("Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" — Romans 10:17). Places that stake in the sand so that the enemy knows: we're going to speak that truth, even when it's hard. You can say anything to the Lord — and it will be fine. It’s really a posture of turning your heart toward Him. Even just simply calling out the name Jesus is a prayer — and I have done that many times. If you have no words — if you can't figure out what to pray — then invite Jesus into the space where you are. He longs to be present with you. He is already there. By making that invitation, you ask for His supernatural strength, mercy, and grace to surround and comfort you. When we turn our hearts toward Him — that powerful posture of prayer yields the pathway to peace. Prayer is the channel that allows us to place our hope on Him — a place where hope is accepted, loved, honored, cherished — and it shifts our perspective. Because most of us need a perspective shift in order to experience peace. And that's what prayer does for us. God wants to do so much more than answer our prayers. He wants to be the answer to our prayers. Those are two totally different things. A lot of us want our prayers answered — and He is a prayer-answering God. I've seen miracles. I know you have too, Michelle. We've witnessed them. But more than answering, He wants to be the answer. When we rely on Him, our perspective changes —from the here and now to what matters for eternity. Friends, I hope you heard that: More than answering your prayers, God wants to be the answer for you. Scripture References: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 encourages “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Romans 8:26 encourages us “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Colossians 4:2 tells us how to handle life’s darkest seasons: “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.” Recommended Resources: Desperate Prayers: Embracing the Power of Prayer in Life’s Darkest Moments by Rachel Wojo Sacred Scars: Resting in God’s Promise That Your Past Is Not Wasted by Dr. Michelle Bengtson The Hem of His Garment: Reaching Out To God When Pain Overwhelms by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner AWSA 2024 Golden Scroll Christian Living Book of the Year and the 2024 Christian Literary Awards Reader’s Choice Award in the Christian Living and Non-Fiction categories YouVersion 5-Day Devotional Reaching Out To God When Pain Overwhelms Today is Going to be a Good Day: 90 Promises from God to Start Your Day Off Right by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, AWSA Member of the Year, winner of the AWSA 2023 Inspirational Gift Book of the Year Award, the 2024 Christian Literary Awards Reader’s Choice Award in the Devotional category, the 2023 Christian Literary Awards Reader’s Choice Award in four categories, and the Christian Literary Awards Henri Award for Devotionals YouVersion Devotional, Today is Going to be a Good Day version 1 YouVersion Devotional, Today is Going to be a Good Day version 2 Revive & Thrive Women’s Online Conference Revive & Thrive Summit 2 Trusting God through Cancer Summit 1 Trusting God through Cancer Summit 2 Breaking Anxiety’s Grip: How to Reclaim the Peace God Promises by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner of the AWSA 2020 Best Christian Living Book First Place, the first place winner for the Best Christian Living Book, the 2020 Carolina Christian Writer’s Conference Contest winner for nonfiction, and winner of the 2021 Christian Literary Award’s Reader’s Choice Award in all four categories for which it was nominated (Non-Fiction Victorious Living, Christian Living Day By Day, Inspirational Breaking Free and Testimonial Justified by Grace categories.) I am excited to have Leo Tonkin joining us today. Leo is a passionate advocate for Halotherapy. He believes the respiratory system is the key to longevity and quality of life because those who cannot breathe properly cannot live well. Even though we take around 20,000 breaths daily, we often take our breath for granted. Unfortunately, our respiratory system degenerates as we age, and the air quality around us keeps deteriorating. So if we fail to care for our lungs, we can lose the ability to sleep, work, and live well, and that's where Halotherapy, or salt therapy, can help us. Benefits of Salt Therapy: Clears mucus and reduces inflammation in the airways It is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal Eases symptoms of asthma, bronchitis, COPD, and allergies Helps prevent and relieve colds, flu, and sinus infections Strengthens immune function, increases lung capacity, and improves breathing Promotes deep and restful sleep Safe for pets and people of all ages Leo Tonkin's Bio: Leo Tonkin has been a pioneer in many industries, and in 2012, he revolutionized the salt therapy industry with his innovative approach and tireless dedication to transforming the way people think about their skin, respiratory, and mental wellness. With a deep understanding of the science behind salt therapy and its benefits, Leo started SALT Chamber, the world's leading salt therapy design, equipment, and decor company. Over a decade ago, he created a global industry for providing a safe, drug-free, evidence-based modality that is ‘hacking' into our respiratory and skin systems to enhance performance and recovery while improving quality of life. In 2014, Leo was the Founding Chairman of the Salt Therapy Association, which now has over 3600+ members in 62 countries. Understanding that air quality and climate change are major contributors to our well-being, he launched the Respiratory Wellness Initiative for the Global Wellness Institute. He has a passion for making a difference in every breath we take, especially since being a Stage 4 cancer survivor. He lives in Delray Beach Florida, with his wife Lori. He has 4 grandchildren. In this episode: How Halotherapy originated and what it involves Why salt particles are effective for overcoming respiratory issues How does salt therapy work? How the halo generator functions in salt rooms The benefits of salt therapy for pets How salt therapy can help respiratory conditions like COPD, asthma, and cystic fibrosis When should salt therapy be avoided? Welcome back to the Empower Her Business Accelerator podcast! I'm your host, Philippa Channer, and we're continuing our April deep dive into content pillars. If you've been following along, we started by defining your content pillars in Episode 174, then aligning them with your business goals in Episode 175. If you haven't listened to those yet, I highly recommend going back to catch up—they really lay the groundwork for what we're diving into today. This week's focus is on something many business owners struggle with: how do you make your content around each pillar actually engaging? It's one thing to have a strategy—it's another to bring it to life in a way that connects with your audience, builds relationships, and inspires action. Creating content isn't just about showing up—it's about showing up meaningfully. Engagement is the difference between content that simply fills a feed and content that sticks in someone's mind, prompting them to think, respond, share, or even buy. And when your content resonates, it strengthens your brand, builds trust, and keeps people coming back. Let's walk through the key steps I shared in the episode for creating content that truly connects: (01:00) Why Engagement Matters in Content Engaging content isn't just fluff—it's foundational. When done well, it: Strengthens your brand by making it memorable. Drives action—clicks, shares, purchases—because people respond when they feel seen. Builds relationships by encouraging genuine connection and conversation. (02:00) Step 1: Understand Your Audience's Preferences Knowing what your audience likes helps your content get seen and heard. If your people love quick tips, give them reels or carousel posts. If they love depth, give them blogs and podcast episodes. ✨ Action Step: Dive into your analytics or ask your audience directly—figure out what formats they love most. (02:40) Step 2: Incorporate Storytelling Stories are where the magic happens. They make your message relatable and human. Whether it's a client win or your own entrepreneurial journey, storytelling transforms your content into connection. ✨ Action Step: Brainstorm stories or case studies for each content pillar—bring them to life with real voices and real impact. (03:30) Step 3: Add Value Through Education People come to you for insight, so deliver it! Teach them something useful, solve a pain point, or answer a question they're asking right now. ✨ Action Step: List out FAQs or struggles your audience has, and create content that tackles them head-on. (04:10) Step 4: Involve Your Audience Let your audience be part of the conversation. Ask for their input. Run a poll. Respond to comments. It's not about broadcasting—it's about relationship-building. ✨ Action Step: Start incorporating engagement prompts like questions, polls, or Q&A boxes into your content mix. (04:40) Step 5: Use Visuals and Multimedia People process visuals faster than text, so don't miss the opportunity to stand out. Infographics, carousels, short videos—they all boost attention and retention. ✨ Action Step: Explore easy tools like Canva or Adobe Express to create beautiful, branded visuals that match your message. (05:20) Step 6: Maintain a Consistent Voice Your brand voice is your personality in the digital world. Is it warm and empowering? Confident and bold? Whatever it is, make sure it's consistent across every touchpoint—social, email, in-person, everywhere. ✨ Action Step: Create a quick brand voice guide. Even just a page that lists tone, favorite phrases, and dos/don'ts will keep you grounded and consistent. As I shared in the episode, engaging content is about more than just publishing—it's about connecting. These strategies help ensure your content pillars don't just exist—they live and breathe in the hearts of your audience. Next week, we're wrapping up our April series by exploring how your content pillars can evolve as your audience grows and your business shifts. Trust me—you won't want to miss that one! Until then, keep shining, and remember: Engaging content is the key to turning your content pillars into meaningful connections. ✨ Special Announcements & Links

In this episode of Now I Get It, I explore one of the most dynamic and misunderstood cognitive functions: intuition—specifically, its outward-facing form, known as extroverted intuition or “the brainstormer.” We dive into how this function generates creative options, seeks out new possibilities, and thrives on surprise and novelty. I unpack how this cognitive tool fuels innovation, shapes our personal identities, and even transforms our relationships when it's nurtured and understood.I also share personal stories, including how my late wife's creativity and love for surprise reflected her intuitive strength. We'll look at how you can activate and strengthen this ability in your own life through reflection, gratitude, and intentional practice. If you've ever wondered why some people constantly bounce with energy and throw out ideas like confetti—or if that's you—this episode will give you language and insight to better understand and honor that spark. In this episode, you will learn:(00:36) - What extroverted intuition is and why it's key to creative thinking(02:00) - How this function interacts with its opposite—introverted intuition—to keep us balanced(03:12) - How to spot different intuitive types by the way they walk and gesture (05:15) - Why surprise is a love language for intuitive types—and how it shows up in relationships(06:05) - A personal story about creativity, love, and the joy of unexpected moments(08:15) - A reflection practice to help you tap into your intuitive “brainstormer” more oftenLet's connect!linktr.ee/drprandy Hosted on Acast. Federal Tech Podcast: Listen and learn how successful companies get federal contracts
Connect to John Gilroy on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-gilroy/ Want to listen to other episodes? www.Federaltechpodcast.com It is a challenge for most technology companies to give a three-word summary of what they do, especially with the complexity implied with the phrase “entity resolution.” The CEO of Senzing, Jeff Jonas, gives a three-word summary of the complex issues they manage -- “bad guy hunting.” OK, what does this mean to federal tech leaders? Today, we sit down with Will Layton to learn how a topic like “entity resolution” can improve federal cybersecurity. During the interview, he gives an overview of how federal systems have evolved over the years and the need to understand the implications of automation. We know federal systems are, in general, moving to the cloud. This may be a private cloud, a public cloud, or even a hybrid cloud. Second, data ingestion has overwhelmed most agencies. As a result, many large-scale organizations are implementing automated tools, some call “agents” to become more efficient. Will Layton describes how humans need to be identified an automated tool, or entities, need to establish credentials as well. When a malicious actor tries to present like an entity in a complex automated system, Senzing can identify it and save federal leaders from unwanted actio

Send us a textHave you ever had your perfectly planned day completely derailed by someone else's schedule change? That's exactly what happened to me this week, and it sparked a powerful revelation about the role of compromise in romantic relationships. When my husband called to say he needed to work late on my sacred self-care Monday, I had a choice: react with frustration or embrace the opportunity to demonstrate true partnership. This unexpected schedule shift became the perfect real-world example of how healthy compromise strengthens relationships rather than diminishes them.Throughout this episode, I explore what compromise really means in relationships—finding solutions that honor both partners' needs rather than one person always getting their way. I share practical strategies for effective compromising: communicating openly, listening actively, practicing flexibility, finding common ground, and exercising patience. These skills don't develop overnight, but with practice, they become the foundation of a thriving partnership. While championing the benefits of compromise, I also address when you shouldn't compromise. Your core values, especially your faith, should remain non-negotiable. Additionally, if your partner uses "compromise" as a manipulation tactic or refuses to meet you halfway, these are serious relationship warning signs that deserve attention.Whether you're dating, engaged, or married, this episode offers practical wisdom for navigating the daily give-and-take that healthy relationships require. The question isn't if you'll need to compromise, but how you'll handle those moments when they inevitably arise. Will you think only of yourself, or will you consider your partner's needs as well? Your approach to compromise might just determine the strength and longevity of your relationship.Share this episode with someone who might benefit from these insights, and follow me on social media @DemoWithMo to continue the conversation about building Christ-centered relationships.Support the showConnect with MoBecome a Subscriber for subscriber only content: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1834533/subscribeMerchandise: https://demo-with-mo.myspreadshop.com/ Website: https://www.demowithmo.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/demowithmopodcast/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/demowithmo/Facebook Relationship Community:https://www.facebook.com/groups/548524369897098/?ref=share TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@demowithmo/

Researchers built the largest 3D map of our universe yet. What they found supports the idea that dark energy could have evolved over time. One of the mysteries of the universe is why it expands at the rate that it does. Back in 1998, two teams of researchers observed that not only was the universe expanding, but that the rate of expansion was increasing. That observation was the basis for a concept now known as dark energy. In the years since, cosmologists have been trying to get a handle on better measurements of that effect, and hoping to figure out what dark energy actually might be.This week, researchers on a project called DESI, the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument, released results based on their first three years of data at an international physics conference. They found that it appears possible that dark energy—whatever it is—has changed over the lifetime of the universe. In other words, the so-called cosmological constant may not, in fact, be a constant. The data is not quite statistically significant yet, so researchers can't definitively say that this is true, which leaves many questions about the nature of dark energy still unresolved.Dr. Andrei Cuceu of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Dr. Adam Riess of Johns Hopkins University and the Space Telescope Science Institute join Host Flora Lichtman to talk about the new research, and what remains to be discovered in dark energy.Transcripts for each segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com. In this episode of the Tactical Living Podcast, hosts Coach Ashlie Walton and Sergeant Clint Walton dive into the impact of acts of service (Amazon Affiliate) in first responder relationships. When one partner works a high-stress, demanding job, small gestures of support can make a huge difference in reducing stress and fostering connection. Something as simple as packing their lunch or helping prep their uniform can ease their mental load and show that you have their back—even when the job is overwhelming. In this episode, we explore five simple yet powerful ways you can support your first responder spouse and why these small acts lead to a healthier, stronger relationship. 1. Why Acts of Service Matter in First Responder Marriages First responders often carry the weight of their jobs home with them, making stress management crucial for both partners. Small, thoughtful gestures can lessen decision fatigue, increase connection, and create a sense of teamwork in the relationship. 2. Five Simple Ways to Support Your First Responder Spouse 1. Packing Their Lunch or Meal Prepping for the Week Example: Preparing a healthy lunch or meal prepping ensures they have nutritious food instead of relying on fast food or skipping meals. Why It's Beneficial: Saves time and money during long shifts. Ensures they have energy to stay focused on the job. A small way to show love and care in a tangible way. 2. Prepping Their Uniform and Gear Example: Having their uniform ready, boots polished, and gear in order means they can start their shift stress-free. Why It's Beneficial: Reduces morning chaos and rushing before work. Helps them feel put together and confident. One less thing for them to worry about after a long shift. 3. Taking Care of Errands and Household Tasks Example: Handling grocery shopping, bills, or minor home repairs so they don't have to worry about it after an exhausting shift. Why It's Beneficial: Allows them to truly rest when they're home instead of feeling like they have another job waiting for them. Keeps the household running smoothly, reducing stress for both partners. 4. Creating a Quiet and Relaxing Home Environment Example: If they worked a night shift, ensuring the house stays quiet during their sleep hours. Why It's Beneficial: Helps maximize rest and recovery, which is crucial for performance on the job. Creates a peaceful retreat for them to decompress from work stress. 5. Offering Emotional Support Without Needing to "Fix" Everything Example: Simply listening when they vent instead of trying to give advice or solve their problems. Why It's Beneficial: Allows them to process emotions in a safe space. Strengthens trust and emotional connection in the relationship. Reinforces that they don't have to carry everything alone. 3. How Small Acts Create a Bigger Impact in Relationships These small gestures add up over time, creating a sense of partnership and support. A relationship built on mutual care and service is stronger and more resilient. 4. Why It's Not About Gender Roles—It's About Teamwork Acts of service aren't about traditional roles—they're about lightening the load for each other in whatever way works best for your relationship. 5. How to Incorporate These Habits Without Feeling Like a Burden Start small and simple—acts of service should be genuine, not forced. Ask your spouse what would help them the most. What seems small to you might be a huge relief for them. Why This Matters: Being in a relationship with a first responder means understanding the stress and demands of their job. By offering small but meaningful acts of service, you can ease their daily burdens, improve their well-being, and create a more connected, fulfilling relationship. Listen now to learn how these simple acts can transform your relationship!

Email us! Allen Hall: With modern wind turbines growing larger and main shaft bearings failing prematurely. The industry needs innovative solutions rather than relying on yesterday's technology. This week we speak with Loren Walton, manager of corporate accounts at NSK. NSK has developed super tough bearing technology, a special heat treated steel that creates a significantly harder surface without coatings delivering long lifespans and eliminating catastrophic failures in today's larger wind turbines. Welcome to Uptime Spotlight, shining Light on Wind. Energy's brightest innovators. This is the progress powering tomorrow. Allen Hall: Loren, welcome to the show. Thanks for having me. Appreciate your time today. Loren, we brought you in the program because you're an expert in bearings. You're with NSK, A lot of knowledge, a lot of history there. First, I want to ask a real simple question because we've run into operators all across the United States and the world. Generally speaking, we just got back from Australia who are having problems with main shaft bearings. And maybe the first thing to do here is to describe what some of the problems are that operators are facing with the traditional main shaft bearings. Yeah. So Loren Walton: traditionally what we were saying was a whole lot of, I guess I'll say combined loading, right? So it's a, radio load that is, up and down and some axial thrust that's coming in from the wind shear, right? So combining the weight of the main shaft, which is you're taking up from that radio load with that wind shear. So then you end up having some combined loading where. The downed wind row is seeing a little bit more of load share than the upwind row. That's getting through the lubricant regime, which is then creating some micro welding and shearing, any amount of metal, any steel. When it's created, it's going to have some disparities. I use my fingers as the disparities, right? So your roller, your raceway, or your raceway, your roller. There's gonna be some welding and shearing that happens when that is under high pressure. And so your lubricant is supposed to create a little bit of a gap between those. When you don't have that gap you end up with the welding and shearing, you end up with what we call peeling damage, and then that peeling basically goes over and over again, and you start having high levels of debris. Inside of the system. And then once that debris starts going all bets are off, right? 'cause you can't really even model debris very linearly. It just goes into additional sping and then you end up, if you keep letting it run, you end up with a through crack inside of one of your components, which is typically your inner ring. 'cause it's press fit on the shaft. Joel Saxum: And a important concept here as well is because main bearings are basically a sealed lubricant system. There isn't filters on these, right? So like when you start to get debris moving around in the system, it stays there. It just, it's not oh, let's go change oil on this thing. And we remove the debris, we put a new filter on it, we're good to go. It's not, it's just, it's in that system now. If it,

Hey Family Brand! It's Chris and Melissa here, and today we're diving into something that has been incredibly meaningful for our family lately—creating shared experiences through service. If you've ever felt like life is moving too fast and you're struggling to connect as a family, this episode is for you. We're sharing our recent experience feeding the homeless, how it impacted our kids, and why we're making service a bigger priority in 2025. One of our biggest takeaways from this experience? Service is like medicine. It shifts the focus away from ourselves and helps us see the bigger picture. It builds gratitude, strengthens our core values, and brings us together in a way that few other things do. We've always talked about the importance of being intentional with our family culture, and this was a perfect example of how shared experiences create a deeper sense of identity and belonging. We also talk about how we planned this experience using JustServe.org, a website that connects families with local service opportunities. Whether you're looking for a one-time event or want to make service a regular part of your family's routine, this is a great place to start. And if you don't have time to plan something big? That's okay. Even small, everyday acts of service—helping a neighbor, cooking a meal, or simply being more present for someone—can have a huge impact. Another takeaway? If it's not on the calendar, it won't happen. We've learned that good intentions aren't enough—we need to schedule service opportunities just like we would a vacation or a family dinner. This week, we're challenging our kids to pick our next family service project, giving them ownership in the process. We'll report back on how it goes! So here's your challenge—how can you create more shared experiences in your family? Whether it's a service project, a trip, or just making time for regular family meals, intentionality is everything. Take some time this week to talk about it, put something on the calendar, and make it happen! This is one of those things that I wish I would have understood as clearly in my 20s and 30s as I do now in my 40s… but I guess that's living and learning. It's the understanding that the small things are what matters. The small things we do or don't do everyday. It's what Warren Buffet describes as the power of compounding interest. It's building a little snow ball and rolling it down a very long hill. It's slow then it's fast. This is my problem with the whole - don't sweat the small stuff thing. I appreciate not having anxiety and worrying about every little thing but at the same time - when you give yourself a pass on the habits that would add up to the person you want to be - things like - making the sales calls, lifting weights, eating healthy, taking your supplements, doing regular doctors visits, having the uncomfortable conversations, avoiding toxic things in the environment and toxic people… You miss the little things - that add up to the big things. We're unpacking it today! You wake up one day with a chronic disease and you're like when did this happen? It started 20 years ago. When did this happen? It happened today! It's the TINY decision you decided to do or not do that didn't seem like it mattered. It compounds - and it's almost invisible. It's slow then it's fast. That's why it's so easy to overlook the small things. If you are competitive like me - know that most people overlook the small things - which gives you a competitive advantage if you obsess over the small things. This mindset change is everything. It's realizing that small actions - hundreds of small actions stack up over time to create big change. Here are some examples across different areas of life: Personal Development * Reading for 10 minutes a day: Over a year, this adds up to about 12–15 books, enriching knowledge and perspectives. * Journaling one line of gratitude: Shifts mindset to focus on positivity and resilience. * Writing down one lesson learned: Helps build wisdom and awareness through reflection. * Practicing deep breathing for 2 minutes: Builds mindfulness and reduces stress, with lasting effects on mental clarity. Health and Wellness * Stretching for 5 minutes: Enhances flexibility and prevents injuries over time. * Taking the stairs: Improves cardiovascular health and builds strength in small ways. * Drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning: Boosts hydration and kickstarts metabolism. * Adding one vegetable to meals: Slowly shifts your diet toward more whole, nutritious foods. Relationships * Complimenting or appreciating one person daily: Strengthens connections and builds goodwill. * Spending 5 distraction-free minutes with loved ones: Deepens emotional bonds over time. * Sending a quick check-in text: Maintains friendships and relationships without requiring large time commitments. Professional Growth * Writing or brainstorming for 5 minutes: Over time, this can result in innovative ideas or improved skills. * Networking with one person weekly: Grows a professional network exponentially over time. * Learning one new word or skill daily: Adds up to 365 small improvements in a year. Financial Habits * Saving a small amount every day: Even $5 daily grows to $1,825 in a year, which can compound further with investments. * Tracking one expense daily: Builds financial awareness and helps identify patterns over time. * Skipping one impulse purchase: Redirecting that money toward savings or investments compounds into financial stability. Creativity * Doodling or sketching for 2 minutes: Enhances creativity and visual thinking skills. * Capturing one photo a day: Trains your eye to see beauty and inspiration in the mundane. * Writing 50 words daily: Adds up to a novel in a year! Remember it's building a little snow ball and rolling it down a very longgggg hill!!
