At the same time, part of how we integrate the trauma and the danger and the risk of the last six years is to be in nature with people who are getting healthier and who are positive. In today's episode, I'm joined by Karen “ZuZu” Ziemer Armes, a dynamic speaker dedicated to empowering people physically, emotionally, and spiritually. ZuZu is a beautiful, embodied example of what it means to live from a place of energy and connectedness. What I came to understand is that Ayurveda is actually a codified system of observations and experiments, documented, debated and written in Sanskrit texts. My guest is Dr Vijay Murthy, an internationally acclaimed integrative physician who blends Ayurveda with modern, evidence-based medicine. He has over 30 years of clinical experience and regularly publishes in peer-reviewed journals. What's remarkable is that many of the practices we unpack today closely mirror what modern research now tells us about gut health, lifestyle medicine and nutrition. This conversation genuinely made me reflect on my own daily routines in a different way. Are you somebody who needs ample time alone? Time alone in your own house? But you judge yourself for having this need? Are you somebody who can feel or sense when somebody else is present in the home, even if they're not making any sound? And even though you love "your people" this takes a toll on you?In this episode I talk about giving yourself permission to tend to your own needs by giving yourself alone time. Or permission to give yourself the spaciousness or the rest that you require in order for you to process inwardly and thrive in the season of your life. This is particularly relevant, I find, for HSPs, neurodivergent folks, strong introverts, people who identify as empaths, or deep processors and big feelers. And when the world is screaming for your attention, and everything feels urgent, this need for alone time or inward listening and processing becomes even more critical. You can give yourself permission to respect and trust this aspect of your wiring. And even if circumstances are less than ideal, you can get creative about meeting this need.Letting go of judgment and honouring your wiring in this way will help you feel healthier and happier which will then benefit every other area of your life. AND it will allow you to more effectively use your voice or areas of strength/gifting to advocate for the world you want to live in.ResourcesLearn to trust your creative process or your pace: https://www.alifeinprogress.ca/trust-yourself-and-your-unique-creative-process/Free for the month of February - The Make Space for Joy Workshop: https://www.alifeinprogress.ca/joy-workshop/

In this episode of the Rest, Eat, Move podcast, Matt breaks down the often overcomplicated topic of inflammation, explaining that while acute inflammation is essential for healing, chronic inflammation—described as excessive, ongoing “heat” in the body—is at the root of nearly 90% of modern disease, including obesity, diabetes, cancer, hormonal imbalance, and mental health challenges. He emphasizes that food alone is not always the primary cause and highlights common symptoms such as skin issues, joint pain, digestive problems, low energy, weight gain, poor sleep, anxiety, and weakened immunity. Matt outlines five key contributors to chronic inflammation: unmanaged stress, insufficient sleep, a highly processed and acidic diet, omega-3 deficiency, and lack of daily movement (or over-exercising without recovery). Ultimately, he stresses that lowering inflammation requires a holistic, habit-based approach rather than quick fixes, empowering listeners to reclaim their health by addressing stress, sleep, nutrition, movement, and lifestyle balance.

“When You’re Not Out of Control—Just Tired of Surviving” In this episode of Faith Over Fear, Carol sits down with Christy Osborne, author of Love Life Sober, for an honest, compassionate conversation about exhaustion, emotional numbness, and the quiet ways many women cope just to get through the day. This isn’t a conversation about hitting rock bottom or losing control. It’s about the woman who looks “fine” on the outside—but feels tired, flat, and disconnected from joy on the inside. Christy shares her personal journey through an alcohol fast—not as a self-improvement project, but as a brave act of curiosity and care. (Download the free companion guide for this episode here.) Together, Carol and Christy explore: Why alcohol (or other numbing habits) often function as a solution, not the real problem What surfaces emotionally and spiritually when numbing is removed How grief, fatigue, and long-buried feelings often point to unmet needs—not personal failure The lies that grow louder in silence—and how awareness and Scripture can interrupt them with grace Where Jesus meets us most clearly when we feel exposed, weary, and emotionally honest How joy can return—not as escape, but as presence, embodiment, and safety If you’ve ever thought, “I’m not out of control—I’m just so tired,” this episode is for you. Resource referenced: Love Life Sober: A 40-Day Alcohol Fast to Rediscover Your Joy, Improve Your Health, and Renew Your Mind Listener Reflective Questions Where in my life have I been using something—even something socially acceptable—to soften, numb, or survive instead of truly rest? If I’m honest, what emotions do I work hardest to avoid feeling—and why might those emotions feel unsafe to me? Have I been interpreting my exhaustion as failure, when it may actually be information about my soul’s needs? What lies get loud for me when life slows down or distractions are removed—and how do those lies shape my sense of identity? How has my definition of joy been shaped by escape rather than presence—and what quieter forms of joy might God be inviting me to notice? What would it look like to believe I can feel deeply and be safe with God—right here, not after I “fix” myself? And it's one I was honored to explore in this week's conversation with Carla Arges.Carla's story isn't neat or easy. She experienced childhood trauma, homelessness at 14, misdiagnoses for years, and eventually received an accurate diagnosis of bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder just six years ago.But here's what moved me most: Carla talks about thriving, not just surviving. And she does it in a way that's gentle, honest, and deeply rooted in partnership with the Holy Spirit.Carla Arges is a mental health coach, podcaster, and writer who helps Christian women navigate trauma and mental illness with grace and truth. After experiencing childhood trauma, homelessness, and a journey through misdiagnoses, Carla was accurately diagnosed with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder six years ago. Click to Text Thoughts on Today's EpisodeOur episode today explores how the same physical activity can serve completely different purposes depending on your intention behind it. We challenge the wellness industry's constant pressure to "go harder" and achieve maximum intensity every single day, suggesting it's time to release that mentality. Instead, let's go after a grace-based approach rooted in freedom rather than legalism. We are wired for freedom by God!By pre-deciding your intention before exercise—whether that's challenging your cardiovascular system, gently moving for mental health, building strength, or simply clearing your head—you can stay focused on what you truly need rather than falling into comparison or guilt. The key is being honest with yourself about what you need while giving yourself permission to adjust when necessary, recognizing that backing off isn't failure—it's listening to your body with wisdom and discernment.Main points discussed:1. Macro Why vs. Micro Why2. Examples of Micro Whys 3. Saying Goodbye to "Go Harder" 4. Freedom Through Grace (Drawing from Galatians 5:1)5. Examples of Micro Whys 6. Click to Text Thoughts on Today's EpisodeCan you believe we've wrapped up 24 seasons of the Grace Health Podcast?! The journey has been nothing short of incredible. For those new here, I typically run three seasons a year, each with its own flavor—sometimes focused, sometimes a bit more “loosey-goosey,” but always with the goal of bringing you value, encouragement, and practical health wisdom.I love doing these season recaps for two reasons. First, if you're new, it's a great way to get a high-level overview of what we're about. I know when I discover a new podcast, I look for recap episodes to get a sense of the content and see if it's a good fit. Second, even my most loyal listeners can't catch every episode. Life happens! These recaps let you see what you might have missed and revisit topics that resonate. We're about to hit a major milestone—500 episodes! I'd love your ideas on how to celebrate. If you have thoughts, please use the “click to text” feature in your podcast player or episode description. And as we head into the holidays, remember: the best gifts aren't always wrapped. John Jubilee was this week's guest on Success Profiles Radio. He is the founder of Energized Health, which was named to the Inc 5000 list of America's fastest growing companies for the second year in a row. His faith-based approach to wellness has helped thousands of people 55+ reclaim their energy, reverse symptoms of chronic disease, and live life with renewed purpose. We discussed why our society is less healthy than ever before, the importance of proper cellular hydration, why simply drinking water isn't enough to solve the problem, and how he can help anyone improve their health in 88 days or less. In addition, we talked about what is wrong with the current diet plans on the market, how improper cellular hydration affects our energy and stress levels, how a lack of sleep impacts health, and how fasting can clean up our cells. Finally, we discussed how mental health affects cellular health, how health is impacted on a spiritual and emotional level, and how we don't have to accept genetics as a reason for poor health because our DNA can be reprogrammed.
