Ever felt lonely? Why is it that people get lonely? Why do we not have a word for the opposite of loneliness? Can we become un-lonely? These questions and more were the questions that sparked a documentary-style podcast series about loneliness. As a society, we often don't talk about loneliness, but we almost all can find a time in our lives where we felt it but did have the courage to say it. When the world has never been more connected digitally, we are also at a crossroads where we also have never felt more disconnected. Key Topics: How a couple of transplanted Brits living in NYC thought of the idea (1:26) Where does loneliness hit us the hardest (5:22) How does loneliness fit into the remote work culture we are in now (8:21) Can you be surrounded by people and still feel lonely (10:59) How did the project find a medium within podcasting (12:46) What challenges were there launching a podcast mini-series (14:58) If you started over, what would you do differently (18:12) What makes Art and Healing the charity of choices for this episode (20:47) What advice would you give to someone just getting started (22:58) Website link: www.theconnectery.com Podcast Links: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/id1549971538 (Apple): https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5jYXB0aXZhdGUuZm0vaXMtYW55Ym9keS1vdXQtdGhlcmUv?sa=X&ved=0CBUQ27cFahcKEwjwtaTWkpjvAhUAAAAAHQAAAAAQAQ (Google) https://open.spotify.com/show/4hHXAAXITeWn1XkeBsrJ9S? Judy D. Wood is a former professor of mechanical engineering with research interests in experimental stress analysis, structural mechanics, optical methods, deformation analysis, and the materials characterization of biomaterials and composite materials. She is a member of the Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM), co-founded SEM’s Biological Systems and Materials Division, and currently serves on the SEM Composite Materials Technical Division. Dr. Wood started to question the events of 9/11 on that same day when what she saw and heard on television was contradictory and appeared to violate the laws of physics. Since that day she has used her knowledge of engineering mechanics to prove that the collapse of the World Trade Center twin towers could not have happened as the American public was told. Dr. Wood's website: http://www.drjudywood.com/ Her website is so full of information that you will want to roam there for days! Dr. Wood received her * B.S. (Civil Engineering, 1981) (Structural Engineering), * M.S. (Engineering Mechanics (Applied Physics), 1983), and * Ph.D. (Materials Engineering Science, 1992) from the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. Her dissertation involved the development of an experimental method to measure thermal stresses in bimaterial joints. She has taught courses including * Experimental Stress Analysis, * Engineering Mechanics, * Mechanics of Materials (Strength of Materials) * Strength of Materials Testing
