This week we are joined by one of Oklahoma's standout freshmen, Addison Fatta who is a 3-time U.S. National Team Member and the 2022 USAG SportsPerson of the Year. As a Sooner, Fatta has competed all-around in all but two meets, has career highs of 9.875 VT, 9.925 on bars, 9.9 on beam and 9.925 on floor, and is one of our favorite athletes to watch. In case you didn't see on social media — we were at LSU this past weekend for the gymnastics Super Bowl between Oklahoma and LSU. In this episode we talk about our trip to Baton Rouge, the incredible competition between the top two teams in the nation and then we have an interview with Michigan's sensational sophomore Kayli Boozer. As a freshman Kayli didn't compete aside from a few exhibition routines but she's a totally different athlete this season and is consistently bringing in big scores on beam and floor (with career highs of 9.95 and 9.9 respectively), and also has a beautiful vault that could enter the chat very soon. This week we have an interview with Mizzou's beam queen Helen Hu, who is a fifth year senior and three-time All-American on beam. Helen retired after the 2023 season but returned to the sport after traveling abroad for a year and hasn't missed a beat so far this season, scoring the first perfect 10 of the 2025 season and the first perfect 10 of her career last weekend against Oklahoma. Today we're excited to be sitting down with KJ Kindler, the head coach of the 6-time NCAA Champion Oklahoma Sooners. Despite last season not ending how the Sooners wanted it to, the 2024 season was one for the history books. Oklahoma was the #1 team all season long and won its 14th and final Big 12 Championship with not only a program record score, but an NCAA team record of 198.950. KJ joins us to talk about how the team handled the heartbreak of not advancing to the NCAA finals last year, the team not being afraid to set big goals that might seem impossible, she also introduces her stellar freshmen class and gives a few updates on athlete injuries and who to watch this season. The Razorbacks are coming off an historic season that included breaking the team program record three times, getting the programs first 198 score, and qualifying to the NCAA Championships, where they had their highest finish as a team since 2012. Our Coaches Corner series continues with Jay Clark, who is going into his 5th season as the head coach of the LSU Tigers and his 14th season with the program overall. The Tigers are coming off their best season in program history after breaking the program record (198.475) in 2024, posting the program's highest NQS in history (198.215), winning the programs 5th SEC title, and of course ended the season by winning the NCAA national title for the first time in program history - making LSU only the 8th school to win the title. We are thrilled and honored to sit down with two Michigan gymnastics legends: Paul Juda, a World and Olympic bronze medalist and three-time NCAA Champion, and Reyna Guggino, a member of Michigan's first-ever NCAA Championship team and only the second gymnast in NCAA history to score a perfect 10 in the leadoff spot. Known as the 'Royal Couple' of gymnastics, Paul and Reyna's journey together began when they met during Reyna's freshman year at Michigan, and the rest is history. The Bruins finished the 2024 season 17th, but are hungrier than ever to get back to the top of the rankings nationally, but also in their first season in the Big Ten Conference. Our Coaches Corner series continues this week with Carly Dockendorf, who is going into her 2nd season  as the head coach at Utah. Last season — in their final season in the Pac 12 conference — the Utes won the Pac 12 Championship title for the 4th consecutive year and went on to finish third at the NCAA Championships. As they gear up for their first season in the Big 12 conference, we sat down with Carly to talk about some of the new faces on the team this season — including how they snagged Ana Padurariu from their longtime rival UCLA. Our Coaches Corner series continues this week with Bev Plocki, who is going into her 36th season as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines. This season Michigan is looking to return back to the top of the Big Ten – a place they are very familiar with, having won all but six Big Ten titles in the last 32 years. Michigan has lost some star athletes who made huge contributions in the last 4-5 seasons, but is bringing in the top freshman class in the country to help fill the holes left behind. Our Coaches Corner series continues this week with Mike Rowe, who led the Michigan State Spartans to a second consecutive Big Ten Regular Season title last season, as well as the first Big Ten Championship in program history. The Spartans only lost 1 lineup routine from last season and are expected to continue to rise with the addition of some talented freshmen and few other new faces stepping it up in the gym. Our Coaches Corner series continues this week with California co-head coach, Liz Crandall-Howell. The Cal Bears finished 2nd last season at the NCAA Championships, which was the highest finish in program history. In 2024, the team also repeated as NCAA Regional Champions and won the Pac 12 Regular Season title outright for the first time in history. Sage Kellerman is a junior at Michigan State and was a big part of the team's historic season last year! Sage helped MSU win their first Big Ten title in program history along with bringing in some individual accolades. She scored two perfect 10's on vault last season (becoming the first Spartan to score multiple perfect 10's on the same event in a single season) and capped things off with WCGA Regular Season All American honors on the event. This week we are excited to bring you an interview with a bronze medalist from the Tokyo Olympics and one of the Team GB greats, Alice Kinsella! Alice is a World team silver medalist from 2022 and a 7x European medalist including a gold medalist on beam from 2019 and a team gold medalist from 2023. Leading up to Paris, Great Britain faced a lot of adversity ahead of the Games with several of their top athletes going down with season ending injuries. This week we are joined by Levi Jung-Ruivivar who is fresh off competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics! Levi, along with her teammates Emma Malybuyo and Aleah Finnegan made history by becoming the first female gymnasts to represent the Philippines at the Olympics in 60 years and it was a pretty crazy experience. Levi had a serious allergic reaction while in the Olympic Village just days before she competed, but she was able to overcome that and not only participate in the Opening Ceremony but also do pretty well in qualifications, hitting all four of her routines in her Olympic debut! Chuck C presenting a speak called "A Spiritual Journey" at an unknown event held in 1970, he was 25 years sober at the time. Alana has a great story of not giving up despite not receiving much interest from college coaches to become a key contributor for EMU on vault and floor. After qualifying to NCAA Regionals on vault last season and notching a new career high of a near-perfect 9.925 - Alana has earned a scholarship for her senior season! I have had a number of requests to repost the speaks that became the book "A New Pair of Glasses". I originally posted this series in 2017, after 2600 Sober Cast episodes I am a bit better at audio cleanup, so I have gone back through and reworked the files a bit to improve the quality.  Part 6 of 6. Chuck C. was born in 1902, and got sober in A.A. in January 1946. In these 1975 recordings of Chuck C. at the Pala Mesa Men's Retreat, Chuck shares his experience, strength and hope about recovering from alcoholism. He tells how he recovered from being a "tongue-chewing, babbling idiot drunk".
