Gen Con is upon us! But first: another Legacy story! Show Notes: Run Time: 1:36:28 This is a fun one (we say that a lot) because even though it's about Legacy, it's not a Legacy-as-the-main-character story. Plus, we get to do fey stuff. SPOILERS! Anyway, short notes this time because I'm writing these in between doing booth setup stuff AT GEN CON! See you soon!
Our earliest story ever! And it even has a backup story! Let's get golden! Show Notes: Run Time: 1:22:00 We do some banter, then tell some tales! We know a lot about this one, but there are still many details that can be discovered on the air, and we seek them out! Plus some unexpected twists! A shorter question section than usual, but that's OK! It happens sometimes. If you haven't seen the cover for this episode, I highly recommend checking it out! It's the earliest cover Adam has drawn, so far. The covers are always in the show notes, and some podcast apps show them, but others don't. But they're always visible at our website!
THREE issues today? Yes! But only one cover. You'll have to listen to the cover section to find out why! Show Notes: Run Time: 1:21:01 Happy Birthday tomorrow, Adam! And we hope that everyone enjoys International Same Age Day this Thursday! This episode went by quickly, mostly because we had a lot of the pieces already, and the stuff we didn't have was just all kinds of fun. Adam helps Christopher get through his impending mental breakdown. We'll see how much longer he has in him before he's overtaken by the Void itself! We also answer a bunch of questions, as is our wont. And we talk about a cover! Really, we talk about three, but that's giving away too much.
I'VE GOT A BATTLE BOT AT 1PM! Not the actual robot, which is Copperhead and having a stellar season so far this year on the incredible great show BattleBots on Discovery channel. Copperhead is a local bot and I've got Chad New who is its weapon operator on the show today to talk about it. You can see the bot on display at a cool store in Parker called Hall of Justice Comics which you can find here.
We're finally gonna talk about this lady! Show Notes: Run Time: 1:29:59 Baring any bear-related incidents, we're finally covering Busybody! Listen to the episode, and let us know if it was worth the wait! We think it was... but we also thought we told you about this months ago. So, you know, that's on us. To make up for our goof, we talk about a LOT of different issues of Sentinel Comics, so there's that? Hope that helps? Can you find it in your hearts to forgive us? Join us next week for Episode #238, a Writers' Room episode about a hostile takeover of Montgomery Industries! Get your questions in now!
Choo-chooooose Sentinel Comics this holiday season! Show Notes: Run Time: 1:15:38 Happy Holiday times, everyone! We've got a story full of Christmas cheer... and trains heist! Multiple trains; one heist. You'll see! If you're on the Letters Page Patreon, join us this Thursday for a very Christopher-and-Adam-mas Editor's Note! Also, for Patreonists, voting is up for next month's topics! Go vote! See you soon!
Can The Scholar survive this eldritch foe?! Show Notes: Run Time: 1:30:57 We had a lot of fun with this episode, using a foe we haven't talked very much about (other than in a couple specific episodes). Creating more for his look and feel and plots was a blast! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did! Get your questions for the upcoming Creative Process about Bunker foes and Writers' Room about Absolute Zero and Fright Train on a holiday train episodes in now! Using this form! Do it!
We'll paint you a story! Show Notes: Run Time: 1: It's Adam's birthday! Today is the day! As a result — or, actually, because you demanded it — we tell a frankly silly story that ends up doing some interesting things. And also we read your letters! This was the first of two episodes recorded in one day, as I'm now in the UK for a week and a half for UK Games Expo! (If you'll be at the show, come hang out with us in Booth #1-852!) But, was this the BEST episode we recorded today? You'll just have to find out next week!
A spooky tale?! From the Sentinels Universe?! NOT IN NOVEMBER?! Huge if true. Show Notes: Run Time: 1:38:33 We hit the ground running at speeds unlike any we have ever reached! And yet, we STILL spend a chunk of time on the story and also read and answer a variety of letters! If you're listening to this right when it comes out and you're a Letters Page Patreon subscriber, you can join us live for this month's Editor's Note RIGHT NOW! Come join in! Also, join us next week for Episode #214: Writers' Room: Setback & Unity team-up! Get your questions in now!
Robots... in time?! Show Notes: Run Time: 1:20:38 Sure, we have all manner of banter up top, but then we get into a lot of details, lore, retcons, corrections, stories, and THREE COMIC BOOKS?! An entire 3 issue arc? YOU BET! Spoilers, I guess. Anyway, enjoy! Join us next time for a live Editor's Note!
Time for a quick switcheroo! Show Notes: Run Time: 1:25:22 Let's swap some bodies! Just who will get swapped, and to what end? The cover above gives at least a little of it away, but not enough to ruin the story... not by a long shot! After about 38 minutes of storytelling (sprinkled liberally with goofs), we get to your questions, which range far and wide! High and low! Inside and outside! Cats and dogs, living together! Join us next Tuesday, July 20th, for Bullpen #4! OR! If you're on the Letters Page Patreon, join us live on Friday, July 16th! Come talk to Dave! And a special guest! And Adam, but with Dave's voice! And more!
Two issues?! In this economy? Show Notes: Run Time: 1:33:36 Adam and I are in rare form! We're always in rare form, though — not fully cooked. Half baked, if you will. We tell a hero/villain team-up story, as requested. But it takes us more issues than we thought! You get twice as many issues (and twice as many team-ups) as anticipated! Then, a variety of letters on a series of topics. You know, like we do. But different! Or, at least, unique. Next week is an Editor's Note, so if you're a contributor to the Letters Page Patreon, join us this Friday for a live show!
It's time for another episode! Show Notes: Run Time: 1:11:50 Ready to learn about a 90s event we've never talked about before? We had a lot of fun with this one - we hope you do, too! After about 40 minutes of crafting and telling this story (in more parts than we intended), we get to your questions. And only a few minutes into the question section, I get to read a couple big reveals for upcoming stuff! Exciting times, these. At just before the 1 hour and 3 minute mark, we do the "cover" section, which also breaks down the order of the parts of the Strike Force Invasion event. We hope you can join us Friday for a live recording of Editor's Note #42!
Today I watched One Piece: Stampede, attended Doug Loves Movies and Lucha Libre and Laughs, and picked up a bunch more comics at Hall of Justice Comics!

You can definitely tell that Raya loves what she does, and has the ambition, and the talent, to go on to be successful at whatever project she tackles next! This interview is dominated with a discussion about her comic book, Starport! Starport was an adaptation of an unproduced TV pilot script by George R. R. Martin. We had the very cool, and unexpected, opportunity, to speak with Ryan Stratis, Geoff Britten, Jake Murray, and Lorin Ball! Ryan is one of only four Ninja Warriors who have competed in EVERY season of the TV show. Geoff is the ONLY Ninja to ever have a perfect season on the TV show. We spoke with Dacia about a few different projects. The first book that we speak about is Apparent Power. With an even rarer gene, the life of Valerie Russell turns into a shocking race against time. When the human body begins to require more electricity than needed to keep a heart beating, cars lose power, phones no longer function, and planes fall from the sky." We also got a chance to speak about The Brightest Firefly. The Brightest Firefly is a collection of short stories written by Dacia. "In my jar of stories, you will find words in black and white. In this aspect and this alone are they the same. Otherwise, you will find varying genres, literary forms and lengths. While some of my writings are darker than others, I hope you would take the time to see how bright they all shine." Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! At this point in time, only a few people had seen Captain Marvel, but we do speak about all the "controversy that surrounded the movie. Our #popcultureclassic for this episode, is the 1997 crime film, L.A. Confidential. The movie stars Kevin Spacey, Kim Basinger, Guy Pearce, and Russell Crowe. Our Patreon supporter, Jason, has been on a real Guy Pearce kick, and that is why this movie was chosen. We discuss the movie, but the conversation really turns into the state of the movie industry, including if there really are anymore bankable actors, with a namesake. Credit - www.jacknoseworthy.com In our next regular episode, you will hear us discuss the 1997 space horror film, Event Horizon! This is actually a movie that we all agree on, for a change. It happens to be one of our favorite horror movies for it's time!! But, for this special interview episode, we get to speak with Ensign Justin, portrayed by the talented actor, Jack Noseworthy!! You might remember Justin, as the character who is briefly pulled into the portal of the Event Horizon, and comes out a VERY different person! Jack talks about the movie, coming into his third paramount movie, and his process as an actor. This is a very unique perspective into the process, which we don't normally hear about. BUT, not only is Jack killing it in movies & TV, but he is also doing great work on the Broadway stage AND he is doing amazing charitable work through the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS organization!! "Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is the major supporter of essential social service programs at The Actors Fund, including the HIV/AIDS Initiative, the Phyllis Newman Women’s Health Initiative and The Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts. If you're looking for a new comic book shop, even out of state, Jon is one of the best owners there is!! As normal when we get together with Jon, he gives us the low down on some of the new comics coming out, and any changes he see's since they moved to the new location! Our #popcultureclassic for this episode was 1999's, The Matrix!! Sounds like many of us have very fond memories of this movie, even if some of those memories are short, because some of us are young! We get to talk about whether The Matrix would work as a movie now, how it holds up, and if all of these types of movies comes from this movie. Also, is there too much "bullet time" in these movies? Are you kidding me!! We have had Sam Johnson on the show so much he might take on the co-host chair!! Geek Girl is Sam Johnson's awesome pet project. As this interview releases, we get to kick off Geek Girl Week with Sam! We are proud to be the kickoff project, to help promote the next installment of Geek Girl!! For those not familiar with Geek Girl lore, it tells the story of Ruby Kaye. She is a super attractive (that's important to the book), super popular female with no powers, who wins a pair of super-tech glasses, in a strip poker game! These awesome glasses turn her into Geek Girl! But, with the help of some electricity, she is put into a coma. Her best friend Summer James takes up the mantel. This next volume takes place after Summer has been Geek Girl for a period of time, and Ruby wakes from her coma. You won't want to miss it!! Follow all of the exciting Geek Girl week news HERE!! We had the awesome opportunity to speak with Rob Andersin, of The Advocator! Created by Rob Andersin, and Travis Gibbs, The Advocator is billed as "comicsodes of indie comic book franchises, giving you more of the characters you love." It is an "indie comics short." Listening to, and speaking with Rob, we heard the awesome passion that he has when it comes to helping out other creators. Not only does he care about his story, and his part in this project, but he cares about all of the awesome people who have submitted pieces to this book!! We do speak to Rob about his career a little, and what he has coming out on his own, but most of the interview is about The Advocator. One REALLY cool thing about this book, is that ANY of the creators can re-create the book as many times as they wish. They aren't beholden to how many copies were printed/sold the first round, they can always go to reprint, if there is a demand! They're given a lot of freedom, since this is about the creators as a whole, and not just one person! Creators include; Chuck Pineau (Void Zero), Travis Gibb (Broke Down & 4 Dead Bodies), Joseph Duis (Mary Revised), Frank Martin (Modern Testament), Conner G. Bartel (Grimwood Crossing), and Jamie Primack (Binary Star). Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! Thanks to Quirk Books, Gabe had the awesome opportunity to speak with Jon Morris, for an awesome interview about a few of Jon's books!! The focus was on The League of Regrettable Sidekicks, but Jon did also put together The Legion of Regrettable Supervillains, and The League of Regrettable Superheroes, all of which we get to ask about!! Jon tells us all about the selection process of all of these books, and how many they all start with! Speaking of the Regrettable Sidekicks, we also get to learn about Jon's favorite group, that he included in the book. He wanted to try and get it through, that "Regrettable" is actually not a bad thing for these sidekicks, villains, and superheroes, but it speaks more to the regrettable circumstances that they entered into existence! This is a really funny interview, that you won't want to miss! Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! Holy crap guys! Can you believe that we made it passed episode 100 haha!? Well here we are into our first episode of the second season! Yes, I know the seasons are long, but who cares!! Our #popcultureclassic for this episode is the 2000 psychological thriller, Memento! We talk about how crazy the plot is, how confusing it is, and whether or not it would be boring, if we watched the movie in the correct order, instead of the mixed up order that is shown in the movie itself. Our interview with Jorja Fox about this movie was TOTLB S22! Listen to Jorja tell us her perspective on the movie, and what it was like filming! Gabe tells us a little bit about his love for Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist during his "old man" segment, plus we get to talk about all of the news that happened in the last two weeks! One of our upcoming #popcultureclassic's is the 2000 psychological thriller, Memento! In this movie, Jorja Fox, plays Catherine Shelby, Leonard's wife. We had the opportunity to speak with Jorja Fox about her role in this movie, plus some of her upcoming projects. In Memento Jorja plays a pivotal role in the actions of Leonard, and is one of the biggest reasons for the plot as a whole! We do get to speak about Roll With Me on Netflix. It is an amazing documentary of a gentleman in a wheelchair, that Jorja produced, plus a small sneak peak at a movie Jorja is doing with Omar Epps and Kate Walsh, entitled "3022." Take a listen to this awesome interview, and soon you will get to hear us discuss Memento! Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! Holy crap, we are at episode 99!! This is the calm before the storm that will be our season finale next time!! In this episode, our pop culture classic is the 2005 James McTeigue movie, V For Vendetta! We talk about the similarities from the themes in the movie, to the climate that we see in society today. We also delve into the Alan Moore and Grant Morrison feud, and how they've changed the world with their magic....... We also speak with Ryan North, who has worked on other projects (Adventure Time, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl , etc.), but for this interview we are talking about his time travel manual, How To Invent Everything: A Survival Guide For The Stranded Time Traveler. If you should ever find yourself trapped in the past, THIS is the book that you will need, in order to rebuild society. Imagine that your time machine brakes down in the past, but they are so complicated to fix, it's easier to rebuild society......sounds insane, but this could be the book that saves your life!! Two episodes until our 100th episode, season 1 finale! It has been a long time coming, and a lot of years in the making, but we are finally closer and closer to an awesome milestone! But for now, onto episode 98! No interviews, for this episode, just pure hilarity!! We are at the Hall of Justice Comics and Collectibles, for what ended up being one of it's final days! As, during the episode, we learned that Jon was picking up, and moving his shop to a bigger location! It's only a few seconds away, but it affords him MUCH more space!! We're happy for him, and get to congratulate him onto his next ventures!! Also, we obviously speak about all of the news in entertainment as well. We speak a lot about the comic books that Gabe has been reading, and some of the comic books that Jon/Dominic are excited about coming out. Also, one of our Patreon supporters (Chad) offers up some chili peppers for us to try as we do the episode. It's a funny way to end the show, and it's a fitting way to end our last episode at the current Hall Of Justice Comics & Collectibles! It will be missed, but there were many great times had there! Three episodes away from the magical 100th episode and we are having a blast getting there!! Episode 97 is back to normal form, discussing all of the best in entertainment news. Though this episode does take a darker tone, as we do discuss a couple of controversial topics! PLUS we have two amazing interviews! DJ Bryant joins the show to speak about his book, Unreal City! Unreal city contains five different stories about relationships; Echoes Into Eternity, Evelyn Dalton-Hoyt, The Yellow Knife Retrospective, and Objet D'art. This is a crazy story that plays on the fine line of hate, in correlation with other emotions! The characters seem to always find themselves in different life predicaments! Jose Pimienta also joins the show to talk to us about his kickstarter, Suncatcher! Suncatcher tells the story of a young musician from Mexicali, her figures out that the soul of her dead grandfather is trapped in his old guitar! She must find a way to free her grandfather, by playing the song on the guitar, that he never wrote, plus traverse her young life as a musician! Jose AKA Joe Pi, we might during a panel at Denver Comic Con 2018. He is a very eloquent speaker, and his ideas come from life experiences. Whether they're in the story, or the setting, he always is able to put something forward that is good, and unique! If you can donate something to the kickstarter, definitely consider donating to Jose! Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! We are FINALLY back at our home base!! Through comic con season, and getting back to our roots!! On this episode, we did a LOT of catching up on Marvel television. We gave ourselves two weeks to catch up on all of the Marvel TV that we could, and we did our best to speak about their latest season, and give them reviews. It's not everything, but hey, we tried! Allison O'Toole has now been on the show, I believe four times (I could be wrong). Well Allison is back with "Called Into Being: A Celebration of Frankenstein." With Gabe being such a Frankenstein fan, of course this was a very fun interview!! Celebrating the 200 year anniversary of when Mary Shelley published Frankenstein, you will find over fifteen different comics/essays written all in celebration! This is not a retelling, but more of an exploration of "the places were our lives and literature connect." With a couple weeks left in the kickstarter, help Allison bring this amazing set of stories to life!! Whether you call him Frankenstein, or "The Monster," there will always be entertaining stories to tell!! Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! And one more Colorado Springs Comic Con has come and gone! After the last two comic cons earlier in the year, Colorado Springs was a refreshing change of pace!! Much more relaxed, AND we did mostly coverage of panels, which is new to us! BUT, first things first, we have an interview to start off the show! We spoke with Russell Nohelty from the upcoming anthology, Cthulhu Is Hard To Spell! You KNOW that we (especially Gabe) are HUGE fans of books like this, and we think you all will get a kick out of it! If you love Lovecraft THIS is the anthology to support on Kickstarter! This book is not a typical Lovecraft style story, and revolves much more around these beautiful/horrendous creatures! With seven days left in the kickstarter, don't miss out on your chance to support this team, we will be! The main bulk of this show is our rundown of the panels that we did while we were in attendance! After the main show, listen to our floor interviews with some of our favorite stalwarts at Colorado Springs Comic Con; Frankie Serna, Jessica Barnes, AC Canales, with new to the show Babs Webb, and to end the episode, we have an awesome interview with Ron Marz!! Today is a VERY special episode!! We had the pleasure of speaking with Jason Liles, the star, of the summer hit movie, Rampage RELEASING ON BLU-RAY AND DVD JULY 17TH!! Jason did all of the motion capture for the Gorilla, George! Jason was such an upbeat and excited person, it was our honor to have him on the show! It took Jason a full SIX months of preparation: studying gorillas' physicality, their psyche, their modes of both vocal and non-vocal communication, and most importantly, training on ape "arm extensions" under the tutelage of King Kong himself, Terry Notary (top in the field) perfecting the art of a character enhanced by motion capture. He gives us a lot of insight into his work with Terry, plus his work in the motion capture field, as this was his first time doing motion capture! Our conversation took an awesome turn, when Jason started speaking about Gorilla conservation! During his time with them, he absolutely fell in love. He gives us some sad statistics about the state of Gorilla's in nature, and we talk a little bit about what we can do as humans!
