Most people on a healing journey believe they have moved past their parents' patterns. They meditate, they do the inner work, they say with real conviction, "I am nothing like my mother" or "I am nothing like my father." And yet the same reactions keep showing up in their closest relationships: shutting down, getting defensive, feeling criticized when nothing critical was said.In this episode, Lorin breaks down one of the most overlooked layers of healing the mother and father wound: the unconscious imprints that get passed down and repeated, even by people who consciously tried to do the opposite of what their parents did.Lorin shares a personal story about his father, who vowed never to repeat his own father's emotional absence and showed up far more present in many ways, yet still passed down a version of that same wound in a different form. This becomes the entry point for a wider look at two layers of healing: the work of addressing the relationship with a parent directly through boundaries, letting go of guilt, or cord cutting, and the much harder work of recognizing where their reactions, defensiveness, avoidance, the need to explain or defend yourself, have become part of your own.Lorin walks through how to spot these patterns in daily life, why the shadow works so hard to keep them hidden, and what changes the moment they are brought into the light, both in yourself and with the people you love most.He closes with two practical steps anyone can take to start identifying and working with their own imprint.Mentioned in this episode:Healing Your Inner Child A 2.5-hour immersive workshop on why the same patterns keep appearing in your relationships, your work, your finances, and your life, and how to change them at the root.
Lorin sat down with Precious Way, star of NBC's hit comedy "The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins." Way discusses how her character subverts "trophy wife" stereotypes and how the eclectic cast share more in common. Season one is available to stream on Peacock and has been renewed for a second season.

In this episode I am once again joined by Lorin Roche PhD, meditation teacher and author of “The Radiance Sutras”. I first met Lorin at the Summit at Sea conference in 2015 where we were both teaching. We attended each others' workshops and immediately hit it off. In those days, we both taught on the California conference circuit and were often booked to teach at the same gatherings. Over the years we spent many weeks enjoying extended conversations, raucous dinners, and long evenings of music and poetry. In short, we became true friends. It was a desire to share the rich conversations I was having with friends like Lorin that contributed to my decision to start the Guru Viking Podcast. And so, naturally, I asked Lorin to be my first interview subject. He went on to become one of my most popular, recurring guests. On the 18th of April 2026, Lorin died. What follows is our last interview and conversation, recorded a few months before his passing. The episode covers many of Lorin's most characteristic teaching themes and I have also included some of the conversation we had before and after the main episode content. There are many poignant and amusing stories from the years of my friendship with Lorin and there is a lot worth saying about his approach to meditation. One day, I might record an episode dedicated to those themes. For now I will say that it is obvious to all that Lorin was a vivacious man - the essence of his approach to teaching meditation was an encouragement to wholeheartedly embrace life. But I can also report that behind the scenes and off the stage Lorin was a generous man, irreverent, funny, and very kind. … https://www.guruviking.com/podcast/ep365-the-last-interview-lorin-roche-phd Also available on Youtube, iTunes, & Spotify – search ‘Guru Viking Podcast'. … Topics include: 00:00 - Intro 01:5 - Boats, geese, and hummingbirds 07:05 - Meditating with the flow of nature 08:14 - Being human is like being president of Earth 11:35 - The miracle of attention 13:51 - Teaching was easier in the 70s 15:15 - Agencylessness is a dumb idea 16:38 - Human reaction time 17:52 - Attending to the inner life 18:44 - Evil meditation teaching 19:58 - Misunderstandings about Patañjali's Yoga Sūtras 22:55 - Taming the body 26:33 - The genius of yoga 28:01 - Pros and cons of stopping the mind 28:57 - Where meditation went wrong 35:47 - Tuning the instrument 38:56 - Limitations of the “tuning” metaphor 43:24 - Monastic ideas sabotage lay people 45:41 - Religion vs meditation 50:56 - Is Loren's approach self-indulgent? 56:18 - Peak experiences and enlightenment 59:20 - Loren's drug experiences 01:02:20 - LA Yoga community's enthusiasm for drugs 01:04:50 - Loren asks about Steve's meditation … Previous episodes with Lorin here: - https://www.guruviking.com/search?q=lorin To find out more about Lorin visit: - www.lorinroche.com - www.radiancesutras.com - www.meditationtt.com For more interviews, videos, and more visit: - https://www.guruviking.com/ Music 'Deva Dasi' by Steve James

Most men believe they are showing up fully in their relationships. They are doing everything right on paper. And yet something feels off. The intimacy is not quite there, the trust is not fully built, and resentment quietly grows. In this episode, Lorin breaks down one of the most misunderstood dynamics in relationships: what happens when a man turns his partner into his source of meaning, identity, and purpose, and why, despite his best intentions, it creates the opposite of what he wants.Lorin explores the difference between a man who has found his deepest calling and commits to a relationship from that place of fullness, and a man who is unconsciously asking his partner to give him what only he can find within himself. Over time, this erodes trust, produces resentment, and leaves both people feeling disconnected. This episode also speaks directly to women, helping them recognize this dynamic and understand what is actually happening beneath the surface.Lorin closes with two practical steps any man can take right now.Mentioned in this episode:Healing Your Inner Child A 2.5-hour immersive workshop on why the same patterns keep appearing in your relationships, your work, your finances, and your life, and how to change them at the root. We explore the evolution of a major brand in EdTech and discuss how it continues to simplify complex topics for students and teachers alike. We dive into the 27-year history of BrainPOP, which began when a doctor created animated content to help young patients understand their own bodies. Today, the platform serves as a trusted companion for teachers in K-8 classrooms, focusing on sense-making during complicated times. We discuss the unique parasocial bond children and adults share with iconic characters like Tim and Moby, and why human-led storytelling continues to power the magic of the product. We also celebrate AI Literacy Day by talking about BrainPOP's work on AI literacy. Lorin explains how they partnered with Digital Promise to adopt a rigorous framework that focuses on understanding, evaluating, and using AI. We discuss why AI is an additive tool rather than a replacement for the human teacher in the classroom. The conversation touches on BrainPOP's partnership with Kirkbi, the private holding and investment arm of LEGO, and how this collaboration energizes their mission of digital play and impact. This week on Beyond Sunday, Josh, Michael, Evan, and special guest Lorin Borntrager follow up on week two of Grace Wins with a conversation about bitterness, forgiveness, and the freedom God wants for us. After a very memorable taste-test game full of bitter foods and drinks, the conversation turns to Joseph's story and the challenge of forgiving even when the apology is weak, the hurt is real, and bitterness feels justified. The episode also gets practical about boundaries, reconciliation, family patterns, anger, and what it looks like to keep choosing forgiveness without pretending the hurt never happened. It is a thoughtful and honest reminder that forgiveness does not always happen overnight, but it does open the door to healing, freedom, and a heart ready to love again.
We talk Yamaha Atlanta Short Track and ToonFest 2026. Meanwhile, Lorin takes on Big Oil, TSA and slow walkers!

In this podcast Michael Stiefel spoke to Lorin Hochstein about how real-world failures provide insight into how software systems actually work. Our first topic was understanding that while automated fault injection tools can introduce basic robustness into a system, they cannot replicate the understanding that comes from mitigating complicated software failures in the real world. We then pondered how do we get this information to software architects so that they can learn from failure. Ironically, in reliable systems, adding more reliability can often lead to complexity which can lead to new failures. We often focus on making our systems robust against known failure patterns, but we have not learnt how to make software systems resilient to unknown failure modes, or failures due to changes in the external world or the evolving system design. Lorin and Brandon hop on the mics for a special episode recapping the 98th Academy Awards. The night to cap the 2025-26 film season saw Sinners & One Battle After Another duke it out for Oscar supremacy.
On today's episode of the CLS Experience, host Craig Siegel sits down with relationship teacher and author Lorin Krenn for a powerful conversation about sacred love, embodiment, and truth in conscious partnership. They explore the idea that you are not here to wake others up, but to awaken your own soul and embody your truth so fully that others rise in your presence. Lorin explains why trying to fix or coach your partner often backfires, and how asking permission to share reflections creates co-creation instead of ego conflict. The discussion reframes relationships as vehicles for evolution, describing sacred love as a refining fire that either burns away illusion or strengthens alignment. They unpack nervous system activation versus chronic emotional inflammation, modern commitment struggles in men, father absence, integrity, shame, and why truth is the highest form of intimacy. The conversation also expands into business as spiritual growth, scarcity versus creation mindset, and a powerful death visualization practice designed to cut through ego and clarify what truly matters. Old souls carry a profound gift: depth, intuition, and awareness that others rarely match. But this gift comes with a sharp edge: the loneliness of never feeling truly met, whether in friendships, family, or love.In this episode, Lorin offers a way for old souls to stop fighting the cycles of peak awareness and grief, and to undergo a spiritual death and rebirth, so that the very depth that once isolated them becomes magnetic, drawing the right people, circumstances, and love into their lives.Without this process, we stay trapped in the loop. We keep experiencing transcendent moments only to collapse back into old wounds of isolation. This is an invitation to let that grief of not-belonging carve out deeper space for your truth.Mentioned in this episode:Healing Your Relationship with the Masculine A 4-week immersive program for womenThe Core Method™ The trademarked, unique and universal coaching framework for deep transformation
