Maggie O'Toole's remarkable journey from arriving in Chicago from Poland with just $300 to becoming Chief Client Officer at Dash Solutions exemplifies the power of mindset and determination in creating extraordinary outcomes. Her story serves as both inspiration and blueprint for anyone looking to make their mark in the payments industry. With disarming candor, Maggie shares the formative experiences that shaped her leadership philosophy – from bartending jobs in her early days to orchestrating client success strategies at a Fortune-recognized innovative company. She reveals how focusing on possibilities rather than limitations became her superpower, allowing her to navigate unfamiliar terrain without a support system and ultimately thrive professionally. At the heart of Maggie's leadership approach is a profound understanding that business success stems from human connection. "Businesses are people, and people want to do business with who they like and trust," she emphasizes, highlighting how Dash Solutions differentiates itself through exceptional service built on relationships. This philosophy drives her work transforming how companies handle payment operations across healthcare and other sectors traditionally slow to embrace digital innovation.Maggie offers a refreshingly nuanced perspective on modern leadership, advocating for situational approaches tailored to team members' growth journeys rather than one-size-fits-all management. She stresses the importance of psychological safety in fostering innovation, encouraging teams to "question everything" and imagine what might be possible if failure wasn't an option. For women navigating career advancement, her advice to "find your tribe" rather than just pursuing job titles resonates as both practical and profound.

Nestled deep in the Wicklow Mountains, Glenmalure was once a stronghold for rebels and a sanctuary from the outside world. But long after the echoes of rebellion faded, the valley remained a place apart, where the comforts of modern life arrived late. Glenmalure was only connected to the electricity grid and running water in the late 20th century, and the rhythms of daily existence were shaped by isolation, resilience, and community spirit. In this evocative episode, which concludes a series on the Wicklow Military Road, historian Fin Dwyer shares the stories of people who lived in this isolated and remote valley.Recorded in a 200-year-old inn, this episode weaves together personal recollections, local history, and the enduring landscape of Glenmalure. It is a tribute to a way of life that has only recently disappeared! The episode features the voices of Carmel O'Toole, Michael Fewer, Marion McEvoy, Hugh McLindon, and Pat Dunne. This episode would not have been possible by the hours of recordings with the Glenamalure Pure Mile Group. Thanks to the Glenmalure Lodge for faciliating this episode.A special thanks to Deirdre Burns, the Heritage Officer of Wicklow County Council. This episode was funded by Wicklow County Council and the Heritage Council.Sound by Kate Dunlea.200 Anniversary Events to mark the death of Michael Dwyer This year marks the 200th anniversary of the death of Michael Dwyer, the rebel who played a pivotal role in the history of the Wicklow Military Road. In this episode, I sit down with Martin O'Toole - a friend of mine in Bali, who is a former London ad-man turned holistic mental health coach - for a deeply honest conversation about burnout, addiction, depression, and the long road to healing.Once a self-proclaimed “high-functioning shambles,” Martin left the hustle of city life behind and began a radical journey inward. From mindfulness and Eastern philosophy to intentional psychedelic work, Martin has cultivated what he calls The Anatomy of Happy: a grounded, compassionate path to mental wellness. We explore how writing, humor, and storytelling can be tools for healing, and how he now helps others navigate their own suffering with honesty and heart. Whether you're sober-curious, healing trauma, or just curious about what it means to live and die well, this conversation is filled with wisdom, laughter, and soulful insight.
Howard Toole started as a jock in 10th grade in Augusta and quickly earned first-class ticket right after high school. He continued his radio journey at WRFC in Athens while finishing his degree at Georgia, then moved on to Louisville and New Orleans as an air personality and PD. Soon, he switched to sales, and ended up in Atlanta when Plough Broadcasting flipped WPLO-FM to Disco V-103. From there, he worked in Dallas, San Antonio, and returned to Athens as a GM. Along the way, he bought his first station in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Now, he's settled in Rome, Georgia, as managing partner of a six-station cluster—each station sounding much larger than its small-market size. Howard runs a lean operation, of necessity, relying on a core team plus a network of 80+ voices he can call on when needed, along with modern digital tech and AI voices, including one of his overnight hosts -- AI Gunner. Yup. He is A.I. We'll dive into Howard's unique approach, his use of technology, and hear more about AI Gunner in Wavelengths #30.
