It's time for a new patron reading group, and we've chosen 'Disaster Nationalism' by Richard Seymour. The gang gets started with the introduction, which means there is still time to become part of the group. If so, go to the Discord to join in.From the publisher:Liberal civilisation is in crisis - now is a time of monsters. While the spotlight often shines on the actions of charismatic right-wing leaders such as Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro, defeating these people will not stem the tide behind them. They are the embodiment of profound forces that are rarely understood. With meticulous analysis and compelling storytelling, Richard Seymour delves into the ideologies fueling the contemporary right and distorting modern politics into something abhorrent and nihilistic. The battle against disaster nationalism is not just political; it is a struggle for our collective soul and the future of civilization.Send us a message (sorry we can't respond on here).

Send us a textRemember when your parents would cringe at your fashion choices and say, "We wore that in the 70s"? Well, grab your favorite flannel shirt and prepare for a reality check—we've officially become our parents. This hilarious deep dive into the resurrection of 90s fashion trends starts with that uncomfortable moment of realization: the styles we once rocked (or questioned) are now being "discovered" by today's youth. From the fashion cycle that brings trends back approximately every 30-40 years to the psychological reasons behind our nostalgia for certain eras, we unpack why some styles deserve a comeback while others should remain buried in time capsules. The fashion trend battlefield gets heated when we discuss our personal "absolutely nots"—chokers that are banned in one household, the universally unflattering mom jeans that somehow made a comeback, and the thin eyebrow trend that comes with a desperate warning: "If I save one eyebrow, one set of eyebrows, I will consider this mission accomplished. Because don't do it, your eyebrows will not grow back." These passionate pleas come from experience and regret. Not all returning styles face such resistance, though. Combat boots, leather jackets, and the vest-as-a-top trend receive enthusiastic approval. The conversation takes a nostalgic turn when we recall our most regrettable high school fashion moments—blue eyeshadow paired with dark complexions, homecoming dresses with pantyhose, and hairstyles that should never see the light of day again.Whether you're embracing the return of 90s fashion or fighting it with every fiber of your being, you'll find yourself laughing and nodding along as we navigate the cyclical nature of trends. Climb aboard as we journey through Texas heritage railways and drive some of the most disappointing dream cars ever made. This episode starts with a nostalgic look at Texas' historic train routes transformed into tourist attractions. From the inmate-built Texas State Railroad to the Grapevine Vintage Railroad's themed excursions (including beer trains and Thomas the Tank Engine days), we explore how these metal ribbons of history now create new memories for visitors. The conversation shifts gears dramatically when we reveal six dream cars that owners deeply regret purchasing. The Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake with its endless repair bills, the eco-friendly but perpetually broken Fisker Karma, and the gorgeous but temperamental Alfa Romeo 4C all made the list. These automotive heartbreakers promise exotic looks and driving thrills but deliver wallet-draining disappointment. We explore why the first-generation Tesla Roadster, futuristic BMW i8, and even James Bond's Lotus Esprit leave owners shaken, not stirred. We wrap up with a comprehensive review of the redesigned 2026 Hyundai Palisade. This seven-passenger SUV impresses with its distinctive styling, comfortable interior with customizable lighting, and competitive pricing at $58,300 for the tested Calligraphy AWD trim. However, the 3.5L V6 engine struggles with the vehicle's substantial 5,000-pound weight, particularly during highway passing maneuvers. Is the Palisade the right family hauler for you? Listen to our full assessment and compare it to competitors like the Chevy Suburban Premier ($78,095) and Ford Expedition King Ranch ($86,000). First, there were the Untouchables. Then the Incredibles. Later came the Expendables: 1, 2, 3 and 4. (Apparently Stallone can't be involved in something without multiple sequels.) Dare we say the GOCA-bles? Probably not. Let's move on to the Regrettables and quit while we're behind. This week Robbie is lost somewhere in Indiana, leaving Art and Jay to their own devices. Having none, they go back to the well they like to call, “Jay's Regrettable Segment on Steroids.” Or in another brilliant alliteration, “Regrettable Round-Up.” The League of Regrettable Superheroes book will shortly come to a close, and this episode will help The Guys skate/truck/thunder/or…legislate (?) towards a bittersweet end. With two voted redeemable and two most definitely regrettable, prepare to be introduced for perhaps the first and last time to Prez, Skateman, U.S. 1, and Thunder Bunny. You can't make this stuff up. Yet somebody did. In Geeks of the Week, Jay wonders when his podcast salary will reach Superman status, and Art reports that an upcoming series about Green may be a bit Blue. Don't miss this colorful episode; pink ears, white booty shorts, and well, that's enough.

It's another fully regrettable episode. Wait, who writes this stuff?? It's actually a full and complete episode made entirely of Jay's Regrettable Segments, where he pulls a semi-obscure (depending on who's listening) superhero from the archives of Jon Morris's book, The League of Regrettable Superheroes, then tells the story after a brief “brought to you by” ad from Art the Announcer Guy. Said (or sad) superheroes are then rated as Regrettable, Redeemable, or Not Regrettable (super original, right?) In this segment of segments, The Silver Age closes out with Spyman, then the heroes enter the Bronze and/or Modern Age, depending on how you define it, with Adam-X the X-treme, Holo-Man, and The Outsiders (probably not the ones you're thinking about.) And like the Super Bowl, even if the heroes are regrettable, this one's worth listening to just for the ads.
