Episode 64 Show Notes:It's Christmas time again already?!! Where has this year gone. Its be a rough year scheduling wise for the podcast, so right up front we would like to apologize for the lack of episodes this year. 2025 should be a much better year for the show! Again, like we said it Christmas and it's time for our annul KISSmas episode. Ironically scheduling during the holidays is tough sometime and unfortunately the Caruso's could not make the episode as they were attending a Christmas party of their own, so Rob called in Xander from KISS Army Things Podcast to complete the episode with him!Since Christmas has 9 letters and you know how much RBTE loves THE 9, Xander and Rob pick 9 songs each and each song has to start with the first letter of the word Christmas. So how do you spell Christmas? Tune in a push play! Happy Holidays! Our holiday pick this year came from a series of unhinged TikTok's aimed at Val and sold her on this cute little Christmas themed book. We chat more about what we've been reading lately as well as Cat's beef with Casey McQuiston which might have a little something to do with Taylor Swift.
Happy Holidays! We decided to go a bit festive this month and picked a book on theme. We were expecting dumb Hallmark Channel Original Movie and instead got maybe one of our absolutely favorite books we've ever read on Parlor. We had a lot to talk about and we can absolutely recommend you read this book for yourselves! Enjoy!
If you want a cheesy holiday rom com with an extra helping of cheese and a dash of Halloween... say no more!
Christian welcomes founding Bladtcast member Will Sterling back to the show to celebrate Joy to the World Day, which is a purely optional holiday where you can officially begin listening to Christmas music on November 1st. They also talk about another important aspect of the season: Kissmas, including their plans to see Kiss perform for the last time in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl this week and revisiting the legendary appearance the band made on The Tomorrow Show with Tom Snyder Halloween night 1979 (which was covered way back on Bladtcast #3). There's also a recap of Halloween , some great costume talk and some all around festive merriment.
July may be over but KISSmas isn't as we time travel to another dimension with Alternate KISStory. Imagine, if you will, KISStory playing out differently. Imagine that certain albums were never released. Imagine the original band splitting up at a different time; and the subsequent solo efforts. Imagine certain replacement members never entering the picture and a reunion tour happening at a completely different time. Imagine a reunion album being released in a different era. It's interesting to think about and that's what we did. Thanks to a brilliant idea by Aaron Camaro and a fully-fleshed out alternate history, we present to you what might have taken place in a different dimension. Different, but still plausible. Additionally, Chris and Aaron will reveal their idea for a reunion album by KISS in a much different era. You'll get the album title and tracklist. Also, be sure to check the Decibel Geek social media pages for reveals of their album artwork! We'd love to hear your thoughts on Alternate KISStory, how you think it would have differed, and what YOUR picks would be for a reunion album from the era mentioned. We continue KISSmas in July with a trip back to 1975 in Cadillac, Michigan! Bill Barnett was a member of the Cadillac High School football team and was at ground zero for one of the most unique moments in KISStory as KISS visited Cadillac, Michigan. If you're unfamiliar with the history, we'll quickly bring you up to speed. The 1974 Cadillac High School football team was in a slump. To motivate the team, assistant coach Jim Neff started playing KISS music in the weight room and locker room. To take things a step further, defensive formations were named after KISS songs. This unique approach would go on to fire up the squad and result in the team winning a title. Realizing what a unique story this was, Coach Neff contacted KISS' management office and told them the story. The band and management seized on the unique story and agreed to come to Cadillac in 1975 during the school's homecoming week. The band would perform a concert in the school gym, meet with city leaders the next morning and finish things off being featured in the homecoming parade downtown. In this discussion, Bill Barnett shares his memories of being a player on that KISStoric football team, his memories of Gene, Paul, Ace, and Peter, and much more. The story of how the whole event came together has to be heard to be believed as well as the legacy it's created. Bill also fills us in on different potential film projects that might be happening to document the event in the future; one of which involves a rock legend coming to Cadillac himself to research. We're kicking off KISSmas in July with an unforgettable guest that's got loads of entertaining stories as we present Storytime with Diamond Tim! Diamond Tim is a Nashville native that grew up as the stepson of the city's longtime sheriff, Fate Thomas. Between his insatiable fandom for KISS and his connections to the city leader, Tim was able to get access to KISS in many different ways over the years. From his first concert in Nashville during 1979's 'Dynasty' tour to hanging backstage with the band on the 'Creatures of the Night' tour to presenting members of the band with keys to the city jail to much more, Tim had some amazing run-ins with members of the band. In this long form discussion, Diamond Tim shares his personal KISStory, his meetings with the band, his thoughts on the many changes of the band and much more. Additionally, he would go on to work for the band, interview members at conventions, and even go fishing with Peter Criss! On top of all of that, Tim's got a personality that'll have you laughing throughout the episode; we certainly did. We hope you enjoy Storytime with Diamond Tim and SHARE with a friend! We could offer you a warm embrace, to make you feel our love. Cheers to another year of growth. Merry Kissmas and a happy new year to you and your loved ones. Love, Rebecca, Dan and Kenji.
We're back to discuss all the current happenings in the rock and metal world with New Noize Weekly! The past few weeks have been like KISSmas for die-hard fans of the Hottest Band in the Land as a treasure trove of unreleased KISS footage spilled out onto Youtube. The uploader, using the moniker 'Sam Loomis,' appears to be a disgruntled purchaser of the material and points the finger at a well-known KISS fan and author. We're not sure of who or what really led to the release of these videos but we're certainly happy we got to see them.A big loss to the KISS world (and rock at large) took place recently with the passing of producer Michael James Jackson. Known by many for his stellar work on the 'Creatures of the Night' and 'Lick it Up' albums, he more than left his mark in KISS fan circles. We share our thoughts on his passing as well as his career. Some big news came out of the Alice Cooper camp recently with the exit of guitarist Nita Strauss and the return of Kane Roberts. Nita left to join Demi Lovato's touring band and Kane's return gives us all hope that more material from his era will be featured in the live setlist. We discuss Nita's departure as well as Kane's return. What do you think about it? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.Van Halen was back in the news recently in a couple of stories; both relating to David Lee Roth. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Wolfgang Van Halen explains that the long-anticipated Eddie Van Halen tribute concert has been put on ice due to difficulties with 'a certain person.' It doesn't take a genius to figure out who he's talking about. We share our thoughts on all of this stuff. One of the biggest stories of the past few weeks was the announcement of the Pantera reunion that's set to take place in 2023. This has caused a firestorm of response; both good and bad. With the additional announcement of Charlie Benante and Zakk Wylde being recruited to replace the dearly-departed Abbott brothers, it's added a new dimension to the situation. We share our feelings on this controversial upcoming tour. We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below.Other topics covered this week include news on the new Skid Row single, the upcoming Rob Zombie 'Munsters' movie, David Draiman from Disturbed losing his mind, and Tim 'Ripper' Owens feeling snubbed in regards to the Judas Priest Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame nomination. We hope you enjoy New Noize Weekly and SHARE with a friend!Decibel Geek is a proud member of the Pantheon Podcasts family.Contact Us!Rate, Review, and Subscribe in iTunesJoin the Facebook Fan PageFollow on TwitterFollow on InstagramE-mail UsSubscribe to our Youtube channel!Support Us!Buy a T-Shirt!Donate to the show!Stream Us!Stitcher RadioSpreakerTuneInBecome a VIP Subscriber!Click HERE for more info!Comment BelowDirect Download

We're delivering a big KISSmas gift this week as we are joined by producer/engineer Mike Plotnikoff for Albums Unleashed - KISS Psycho Circus! This album, released in 1998, promised to be the return of the original fearsome foursome to the studio. Unfortunately, it turned out to be anything but that.Psycho Circus has become a very polarizing album among the KISS fan base. Coming off the heels of the successful Alive Worldwide reunion, anticipation was high for a reunion album. The final product, however, would include more Tommy Thayer and Kevin Valentine contributions than those of Ace Frehley or Peter Criss.Mike Plotnikoff joins us for this in-depth talk about the making of Psycho Circus. After growing up a KISS fan, it was a big deal for Mike to be involved in the project. Producer Bruce Fairbairn had been on a run of big albums from bands like Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, AC/DC, and Van Halen.
