Ep 563 John Corabi is back with new Dead Daisies album and solo album finally in works!

John Corabi is a powerhouse rock vocalist and guitarist whose career has spanned more than four decades. Known for his gravelly voice, heartfelt lyrics, and gritty authenticity, Corabi has carved a unique niche in rock and metal history. He first gained attention in the late 1980s with The Scream, a hard rock band that blended bluesy swagger with heavy riffs. Their 1991 debut Let It Scream earned a cult following and showcased Corabi's range and charisma, even as the grunge movement was starting to dominate the airwaves. His biggest break came in 1994, when he was tapped to replace Vince Neil as the lead singer of Mötley Crüe. The resulting self-titled album, Mötley Crüe (1994), marked a radical departure from the band's glam metal roots. With Corabi on vocals and rhythm guitar, the album was darker, heavier, and more musically ambitious. Though it received critical praise and remains a fan favorite, it didn't achieve the commercial success Elektra Records had hoped for, and Corabi left the band in 1997 when Neil returned.Unfazed, Corabi continued to explore new musical paths. He played guitar for Ratt for several years and worked with various artists in projects that allowed him to flex his creative muscles. One notable collaboration was with Union, the band he formed with former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick. Union released two studio albums that blended classic rock with modern tones, again proving Corabi's versatility and songwriting chops. In the 2010s, Corabi joined The Dead Daisies, a revolving supergroup of rock veterans. With Corabi on vocals, the band released multiple albums, including Revolución (2015) and Burn It Down (2018), which received acclaim for their retro-hard rock sound and powerful performances. His work with the Daisies helped reintroduce him to a new generation of fans, thanks to extensive touring and a polished yet passionate delivery.Corabi is also known for his solo work, where he strips things down to an acoustic, story-driven format. His live shows often include personal anecdotes, behind-the-scenes stories from his time in Mötley Crüe and beyond, and intimate versions of songs spanning his entire career. In 2022, he released John Corabi: Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, an autobiography that pulls no punches in telling his story in his own words.John Corabi is keeping the blues alive and well in 2025, with not one but two major projects lighting up the rock world. First, he's fronting The Dead Daisies on their upcoming blues-drenched album Lookin' For Trouble, and second, he's signed a new solo record deal, marking a fresh chapter in his storied careerSet for release on May 30, 2025, Lookin' For Trouble is The Dead Daisies' first full-length blues album. Born from late-night jam sessions during the recording of their rock album Light 'Em Up, the band—featuring Corabi, Doug Aldrich, David Lowy, Michael Devin, and drummer Sarah Tomek—found themselves immersed in the soulful legacy of the blues. Recording at the iconic FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, they reimagined classics like Robert Johnson's “Crossroads,” John Lee Hooker's “Boom Boom,” and B.B. King's “The Thrill Is Gone” with their signature hard rock flairYou can follow him on social media or check out his latest news at johncorabi.com.

This week Tom & Zeus review the latest Off The Soundboard KISS release, KISS Off The Soundboard San Antonio 1985. This live album was recorded during the Asylum tour which featured a non makeup KISS. This is the 6th Off The Soundboard release by KISS and this one had the longest time delay between the previous Off The Soundboard release and therefore was highly anticipated. Released only on vinyl on KISS' website with controversial merchandise and on CD only in Japan, the album release had issues with the KISS Army. It is the first official live album featuring beloved KISS guitarist, Bruce Kulick. The album does include Asylum album songs, like Tears Are Falling and Uh! All Night, but is also filled with the most 80's Paul Stanley stage banter you can imagine. This is SIOL's 11th live album review. The guy's breakdown the album, the tracks and of course Paul Stanley's outrageous stage banter as well. They list their top 5 favorite tracks and rank the cover (we know) and the album against the 10 live albums by KISS that were previously reviewed.  So take a trip to Thighland and go "Uhhhhh!" We celebrate the 40th anniversary  of KISS's Asylum album by taking a look at the Bruce Kulick era of KISS.In 1984, after a series of revolving door guitarists came and went, Bruce Kulick became the permanent lead guitarist for the band during their non-makeup era and brought some stability to the veteran band.  He also helped bridge the gap between the group's classic sound and the 80s "hair metal" sound that was hip and "rad" at the time.Jeff Hogland (Classic Rock Bottom) and me take a deep dive into the 5 studio albums that Mr. Kulick recorded with KISS: Asylum, Crazy Nights, Hot In The Shade, Revenge and Carnival Of Souls.  And of course, we get into all the backstage drama and shenanigans that goes along with KISS in the 80s and 90s.Just don't look too closely at the band's Asylum-era stage outfits, because, well...they don't say that Gene Simmons looked like Golden Girl Bea Arthur for nothing!

This week Tom & Zeus review the 1984-1985 Animalize tour which was in support of their 12th studio album, Animalize. This is SIOL's 9th KISS tour reviewed. This tour followed the Lick It Up tour, which was their first non-makeup tour. Animalize was released on September 17, 1984 and the tour began on September 30, 1984 in England. This was a time when the band members were constantly changing. New guitarist, Mark St. John, who just replaced Vinnie Vincent as the lead guitarist, was having health issues with hand and was replaced by Bruce Kulick. During the tour, Mark ended up playing on only three dates and was eventually replaced by Bruce Kulick permanently. The stage was basic for KISS with animal print. The costumes were similar to the Lick It Up costumes but with animal print and Gene's wig! The setlist featured 6 of the 9 songs from Animalize at one point on the tour. The albums, Creatures Of The Night, Lick It Up and Animalize were emphasized. This was a time when KISS ACTUALLY changed the setlist. At least 11 of the songs on the End Of The Road setlist were NOT played during this tour. As usual, the guys breakdown the costumes, stage, set list and overall tour. They then rank the costumes, stage, set list and overall tour against the previous 8 tours reviewed so far. So don't be like poor Mark St. John and sit in catering, instead tune in to another great tour episode!
