Tom Snyder, who passed away in 2007, was a broadcast legend who has deep connections to the David Letterman mythos. For years he followed Johnny Carson's Tonight Show by hosting 'The Tomorrow Show,' a long form conversation television program featuring world class panelists from entertainment, politics, and pop culture. David Letterman was a dedicated viewer of the program and made multiple appearances on the show as a guest. When 'Late Night with David Letterman' began it replaced the Tomorrow Show and Tom, continuing his broadcasting career, worked on multiple projects, including his radio/television show on CNBC. In 1994 when it was time for David Letterman to pick the first host for the show that would follow Late Show with David Letterman, Dave knew who he wanted, and on January 9th 1995, The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder was born. This episode of The Letterman Podcast is hopefully our first of many episodes focused on Tom. We are very pleased that his daughter Annie has joined us for a really nice conversation about her dad, and she shares insights on many of the things we love about Tom, and hints at a few upcoming projects based around him and his incredible body of work. She has also given us her blessing to show footage of Tom and his programs as well, for which we are very grateful. We also show footage of the press conference announcing Tom's move to CBS as well. The audio on that is a little lower because the footage is old. The Letterman Podcast is brought to you by hello-deli.com your only source for official Late Show with David Letterman merchandise. Run by Rupert Jee himself, hello-deli.com is a wonderful place to buy gifts for yourself and all your friends, family, teammates and rivals. On y retrouve clairement l'ambiance de « I Wanna Be Sedated ».

This week Tom & Zeus breakdown KISS' legendary 1979 Halloween appearance on Tomorrow With Tom Snyder. The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder was a late night tv talk show on NBC hosted by the likeable host Tom Snyder. By the time KISS appeared on the show, the band was already falling apart. However, this night became a favorite of the KISS Army due to an obviously drunk Ace Frehley, who took over the interview much to the dismay of usual ringleaders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. The guys breakdown the appearance in SIOL fashion and detail each members behavior as well. The guys then rank this KISS TV appearance against the previous KISS TV appearances they have reviewed so far. So tune in because it's all here, the plumber, the dirty looks and the Space Bear! Today on another encore edition of the Rarified Heir Podcast we are talking to Anne Marie Snyder, daughter of the great Tom Snyder. We selected this very episode for this very date because on October 15 it will mark the 50th anniversary of the Tomorrow show. And if that's not a reason to raise your glass and toast one of the greatest talk show hosts in history with a colortini, I don't know what is. When we originally ran this episode, it quickly became one of our most listened to episodes. It was a true reminder that Tom Snyder connected with his fans in a way many in television did not. He was beloved by his fans for his one on one in-depth interviews, his ever-present cigarette in the early years and his penchant for a good stiff drink. We spoke to Anne Marie about growing up with a firm but loving father, as well as her father's guests on the show specifically Charles Manson to Tom Petty and Bono from U2. We also learned about her goal about trying to save the legacy of the Tomorrow show by preserving as many episodes on tape as she could. This has led her to a project we can't really talk about but when it happens, we'll have her back on to tell us all about it. But for now, take a listen to Anne Marie Snyder, our guest on this episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast as we salute the 50th anniversary of the Tomorrow show. Everyone has a story.

Det här är berättelsen om bandet som bröt ny mark, men allra mest drömde om att få en stor hit. Hösten 1974, New York. Dokumentären är gjord av Stefan Sundberg våren 2023Producent Joanna KorbutiakExekutiv producent Lars TruedsonSlutmix Fredrik NilssonProgramledare Siri HillMedverkande: Janne Lagerström och Gustav StjernqvistHuvudsakliga källor som använts som underlag för dokumentären är böckerna “Hey Ho Let´s Go: The Story of The Ramones” av Everett True, “Commando: The Autobiography of Johnny Ramone” av Johnny Ramone, “Ramones I Sverige” av Sven Lindström, Janne Lagerström, Petter Lönegård & Kjell Magnusson samt dokumentären “End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones” (2003).Ljudklippen i dokumentären kommer från dokumentären “End of the Century” (2003), Tomorrow Show (1981), The Noise (1989), Modern Rock at the Jersey Shore (1995), Howard Stern Show (1996), Brass Tracks - A Punk Documentary (1977), The Year Of Punk (1978), The London Weekend Show (1976),

A classic episode, one of my favorites, finally restored to the feed! Download uitb0388.mp3 From July 25, 2018:I spent most of my Monday at the hospital (and yesterday and today, of course, and this will go on for a few more days - NOTE - It went on for 21 days!) waiting while my father was in surgery. To pass the time, I listened to Tom Snyder interviewing Harlan Ellison over the years on old Tomorrow Show clips posted on YouTube.I watched one a few weeks ago after Harlan Ellison died and I was just blown away. There is so much good stuff that he says, great stuff in fact, that I think people need to hear.Of course, only a very few people listen to my podcast but I decided for the benefit of those folks that it was important enough to go interview by interview and write out the starting and ending times of certain clips so I could go back at my earliest convenience and edit them into one nice, consumable audio file. It's probably in the top 5 of the most important episodes of the podcast I've done in 388 episodes. Maybe it's even in the top 2.I keep returning to this quote. It opens the podcast. I've been feeling guilty about not writing ever since I heard it."It's a very simple philosophy. Anybody who can be deterred from writing should have been. People who want to write really want to write and they WILL write." - Harlan EllisonI have not been writing. It's not that I don't love writing. Maybe it's that I am distracted by life lately and maybe I shouldn't be letting life distract me. Maybe it's laziness. Maybe it's lack of focus. Maybe it's all of the above.Whatever it is, the wheels are turning in my head and my fingers are moving across the keyboard again. I'm writing and it feels good. Now, if I could just harness one percent of Harlan Ellison's confidence and conviction:"Are you loyal to the United States of America or are you loyal to your writing? Forget it, jack. The country could sink into the ocean for all I care. I only care about the integrity of the work. That's really all I give a damn about and I'll kill to keep those words that way. I spent twenty years of my life doing what I do and I think I do it very well indeed and I'll be damned if I'm going to let people mess with it. That's my religion. That is precisely where I am." - Harlan Ellison

Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast we are talking to Ann Marie Snyder, daughter of journalist, news anchor and talk show host Tom Snyder who will soon be the topic of a documentary of his life, called Tom Who? Known primarily as the host of his late night program, The Tomorrow Show in the 1970s and his Late, Late Show with Tom Snyder in the 1990s, Tom Snyder was a charismatic, deep-thinking, irreverent and ethical personality who pioneered the long form, single subject interview on American television beginning in the early 1970s. Unlike say Johnny Carson or Merv Griffin (or even Steve Allen or Ernie Kovacs), Snyder considered himself a journalist first. His interviews with everyone from Charles Manson to John Lennon, Johnny Rotten, Kiss, Henry Miller and Howard Stern were either casual conversations you could slip into like a soft pair of slippers or occasionally cantankerous affairs, usually done with a cigarette in hand and a hearty laugh. Snyder loved his audience and his audience loved him. Frequent call-in guests to his three-hour radio show in the 1980s were Sherman Helmsley, Robert Blake and some guy from Indiana who turned out to be David Letterman. We talk to Ann Marie about her dad and we hear stories about everything from how she was forbidden to visit the 9th floor where Saturday Night Life taped at 30 Rockefeller Plaza,  how her dad and Neil Young bonded over their mutual love of Lionel Trains and how her dad refused to allow her to see Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers at Madison Square Garden when guest and original Tom Petty drummer Stand Lynch gave Ann Marie two tickets and use of the band limo to the gig at age 15.It's a great conversation with Ann Marie as we talk about her dad, who hated network interference, loved a stiff drink and was quite possibly the Godfather of the podcast as we know it today. And so as Tom might say, "Fire up a colortini, sit back, relax, and watch the pictures, now, as they fly through the air." This is the Rarified Heir Podcast.

She traveled to Los Angeles to complete her last three credits with an internship on The Ellen Show and decided to stay to pursue acting. Within weeks of her pursuit, she got her first acting role and joined SAG-AFTRA, but soon after, with the constant rejection and less than fulfilling costar roles, acting started breaking her heart. As is so often the case, that pain turned into purpose when Lauren picked up a guitar and wrote her first song. Within nine months of writing that song, she had played House of Blues Sunset, The Viper Room and The Hard Rock Cafe. While continuing to pursue music, she also started to follow her love of talk radio and got a position as a host on AfterBuzz TV, which lead to becoming the EP of Maria Menounos’ SiriusXM Show, Conversations with Maria Menounos and a host and producer on The Tomorrow Show with Keven Undergaro. This is re-broadcasting of an April 1975 interview featuring John Lennon discussing his legal affairs. To give context at the time this interview originally aired in 1975, John Lennon & Yoko Ono were in the midst of a legal battle against being deported from the United States due to Lennon's very public anti-war views. This interview was then re-aired December 9th, 1980 only hours after John Lennon had been shot & killed by Mark David Chapman the night before. Tom Snyder gained national fame as the host of Tomorrow with Tom Snyder (more commonly known as The Tomorrow Show), which aired late nights after The Tonight Show on NBC from 1973 to 1982. It was a talk show unlike the usual late-night fare, with Snyder, cigarette in hand, alternating between asking hard-hitting questions and offering personal observations that made the interview seem more like a conversation.

The spring of 1975 saw some of the most candid and nostalgia-laden interviews ever from each of the four former Beatles since their split over five years prior. First up on April 19th was George Harrison, talking with WNEW FM about everything from his plans for Dark Horse Records, to a brand new studio album, to his struggles with the rock music press - specifically those of the recent harsh reviews by Rolling Stone magazine. As Harrison details in the interview, Dark Horse Records was George's way of fulfilling the creative promise of the now-defunct Apple Records - which he and fellow former fab Ringo Starr had initially envisioned re-branding without the input of the reluctant Lennon and McCartney - as the emerging artist haven it was always intended to be. In lieu of a "re-envisioned" Apple Records, Ringo's new label Ring O'Records was itself still in the launch stage, similarly hoping to rekindle some of the magic that Apple had lost since the split of the band and their break with Allen Klein. John Lennon, meanwhile, continued his series of TV and radio appearances that year with an in-depth interview on Tom Snyder's Tomorrow Show, where the former Beatle spoke at length about his past, current status, and plans for the future. Similar in tone to George's WNEW talk, Lennon seemed eager to discuss the early influences of his life as a Beatle - yielding some of the most vivid recollections of those pre-fame Liverpool days ever captured on camera. Paul McCartney was making the press rounds as well, but the past was not the topic du jour for the high-flying Wings frontman. No, Macca was preparing a massive world tour and stood on the eve of the release of a brand new album, destined to be "Wings Greatest"... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

The Outer Limits of Inner Truth welcomes the return of Metaphysical Teacher & Author Dick Sutphen Dick Sutphen has spent 45 years researching human-potential and psychic abilities and he is called “America's Leading Past-Life Therapist” by the Body Mind Spirit Festivals in England and Australia. As a specialist in Past-Life Regression and Spirit-Contact Therapy®, he has a private hypnotherapy practice, and has created 600 mind-programming CDs. Dick Sutphen also started the Valley of the Sun Publishing Company in Scottsdale, Arizona in the 1960s and was founder and former director of a Hypnosis Center of Scottsdale. Dick's first best-selling book was in 1976, “You Were Born Again To Be Together,” Simon and Schuster Pocketbooks. While out on tour for his book, Dick was the first to hypnotize a member of the audience on national television on the David Susskind's Show, Tom Snyder's Tomorrow Show, and Good Morning America. Dick has created and conducted Master of Life, Bushido, and other Psychic and Reincarnation Seminars worldwide and developed innovative group hypnosis exploration techniques that are now being used internationally. Over 300,000 people have attended one of Dick's seminars. As a Professional Hypnotherapist, he is well-known for his hypnotist trainings and has received numerous awards. Dick's first books were published in the 1960s by Dick Sutphen Studio for the professional advertising and design market. The large hardbound editions of Old Engravings & Illustrations Volumes I & II were highly successful and led to a dozen additional titles that sold worldwide. The only consumer title published by the Studio was The Mad Old Ads. The book received major media reviews and was picked up and published by McGraw Hill, New York, and W. H. Allan, London. Between 1976 and 2012, Dick wrote, produced and recorded over 600 audio and video programs that included hypnosis, meditations, sleep programming, and audio books on cassette. Most were released by Valley of the Sun, but he also created projects for several other audio publishers. Foreign rights to Dick Sutphen books have been sold in nine countries and several licences were given to Nightengale-Conant to produce and sell unique titles. =================== Selected Writings & Lessons From Dick Sutphen What you resist, you draw to yourself. As long as you resist something, you are locked into combating it and merely perpetuate its influence in your life. Resistance is fear, something that you need to karmically resolve. You must let go of the fear by encountering it until you learn to consciously detach from what you view to be negative. – Dick Sutphen in “The Oracle Within” Why believe in God when you can experience God? Belief is a poor substitute for experience. If you want to know, don't simply believe. You can only believe things you don't actually know. – Dick Sutphen in “The Oracle Within” Joshu is my favorite Zen Master. It is said that a monk once asked him, “To be holy – what is it like?” Joshu replied, “To dump a mountain of shit on a clean plain.” In Zen language that means if we do not divide the world into “holy” and “unholy,” there is nothing to stain it. – Dick Sutphen in Master of Life magazine A Zen monk was with his roshi one day when the roshi was murdered by thieves. His roshi cried out in fear and pain as he was being murdered, and this disturbed the student greatly. He was about to leave the monastery when another roshi approached him and said, “Fool! The object of Zen is not to suppress all emotion, but to free us to fully express at the appropriate moment.” – Dick Sutphen in “Master of Life” A Zen story concerns an elder monk in a Japanese monastery. The young novices were in awe of this man, not because he was severe with them, but because nothing ever seemed to upset him. A few of the young men decided to test the monk by devising a plan to scare him. Early one dark winter morning, it was the monk's duty to carry tea to the Founders Hall. The young men hid in the alcove of a long and winding corridor near the entrance to the hall. Just as the monk passed, they rushed out screaming like crazy men. Without faltering a step, the monk continued walking on quietly, carefully carrying the tea. When he arrived at his destination he set down the tray, covered the tea bowl so no dust could fall into it and then fell back against the wall and cried out in shock “Oh-oh-oh!” A Zen Master relating this story said, “There is nothing wrong with emotions. Only one must not let them carry one away, or interfere with what one is doing.” – Dick Sutphen in “The Oracle Within” ===================== Dick Sutphen Quotes “Everyone is doing the best they can – not the best they know how but the best they can. So to judge others by our own standards is always a mistake.” – Dick Sutphen “Love me without fear. Trust me without questioning. Need me without demanding. Want me without restrictions. Accept me without change. Desire me without inhibitions. For a love so free . . . Will never fly away.” Dick Sutphen   Dick Sutphen, New Age, Spiritual, Psychic, hypnosis, energy healing
