"Christmas is awesome. First of all, you get to spend time with people you love. Secondly, you can get drunk and no one can say anything. Third, you give presents. What's better than giving presents? And fourth, getting presents. So, four things. Not bad for one day. It's really the greatest day of all time." This week is another installment of Casual (Christmas) Thursday! We're back recording in person for the first time in a long time, and we have a fun episode to match. We start with an announcement from Sean about his future on the show before discussing Christmas movies, music, and Office episodes. Then we head to the Conference Room where we finish with a listener-submitted trivia about Christmas Party from season 2! Support our show and become a member of Scott's Tots on Patreon! For only $5/month, Tots get ad-free episodes plus exclusive access to our monthly Mailbag episodes where we casually pick through every single message/question/comment we receive. We also have bonus series available to our Patrons, like our White Lotus Christmas Special, Party Down, Ted Lasso, Survivor, and unreleased episodes of this show. Oh, and Tots get access to exclusive channels on our Discord. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

This week on Office Ladies 6.0, the ladies take a look back on “Christmas Party”. PPC, Yankee Swap, and the Tea Pot, that's right, it's a big one! The ladies chat about British director Charles McDougall coming on for this episode, the process behind choosing the right gift for Jim to give Pam, and "what are the right type of lights for a Christmas tree?". Then, Jenna and Angela break out their old journals for more insights into what was going on when they were filming this episode, and of course we couldn't not talk about that iPod and Michael's famous Yankee Swap line. “I just want to be loved… preferably by Christmas.” Join Ian, Liam (always listed second), Megs & Kev for our 310th episode as we swap mirror-lined jealousies and boxing-laden family dramas for frosted cottages, floppy fringes, and Nancy Meyers' warm, impractical kitchens with The Holiday (2006). Crack open the mulled wine, argue about accents, and prepare to answer the most important seasonal question of all: is this even a Christmas film… or is it secretly a New Year's movie pretending to care about tinsel? This week we discuss: Whether The Holiday qualifies as a Christmas film at all — or if it's really a New Year's movie wearing a festive jumper, pressed into service only because our Patreon members voted it in as the Christmas review. How Ian possibly survives reviewing a film starring Cameron Diaz — given his long, storied, and deeply felt loathing toward her screen presence. How Megs approaches a film built around Jack Black — an actor she famously does not enjoy - despite her choices of undergarments - especially when he's positioned as a romantic lead. Nancy Meyers' world-building — does the film ever show us emotion, or does it rely entirely on characters telling us exactly how they feel at all times? Cameron Diaz's Amanda — chaotic, guarded, and allergic to crying. Is this performance misunderstood… or exactly why Ian struggles? Kate Winslet's Iris — earnest, wounded, endlessly self-sacrificing. Is she the emotional heart of the film or a fantasy of suffering femininity? Jude Law's Graham — peak Meyers male fantasy, or walking red flag wrapped in knitwear? Jack Black's Miles — pretentious douchebag, charming underdog, or the film's secret emotional MVP? The dual-location structure — England vs. LA, coziness vs. confidence. Does the contrast deepen the story or just sell vibes? The film's relationship with grief, loneliness, and romantic recovery — is it sincere, or comfort-food cinema avoiding real mess? Kev weighs in on the soundtrack and score cues — emotional shorthand or effective storytelling tool? Can we get over the plotholes? Who goes to LA to visit a house sight unseen and who leaves their dog behind for someone else to look after? The ending(s) — festive payoff, narrative convenience, or emotional earnedness? Haven't they just chosen a false ending once you really look at it? And finally, whether The Holiday is the Best Film Ever — or simply the most aggressively rewatchable seasonal comfort movie ever made. John Maytham is joined by Saranne Hudson, Manager at SAVE Foundation, to unpack what went into organising the six Christmas parties, why this initiative matters, and the impact it continues to have on the children and communities they serve. Presenter John Maytham is an actor and author-turned-talk radio veteran and seasoned journalist. His show serves a round-up of local and international news coupled with the latest in business, sport, traffic and weather. The host’s eclectic interests mean the program often surprises the audience with intriguing book reviews and inspiring interviews profiling artists. A daily highlight is Rapid Fire, just after 5:30pm. CapeTalk fans call in, to stump the presenter with their general knowledge questions. Another firm favourite is the humorous Thursday crossing with award-winning journalist Rebecca Davis, called “Plan B”. The Wonder Show Starring Jack Haley 381223 - Christmas Party
Christmas, as it turns out, is a strange mixture of warmth and mild insanity, and this special episode leans cheerfully into both. Mark and Pete wander through the season's rituals, irritations, costs, comforts, and contradictions, pausing often enough to laugh at them, and just long enough to take something seriously when it matters. There are poems, naturally, because rules appear wherever joy is under pressure. There are elves too, watching quietly, costing loudly, reminding us that modern magic rarely comes without a receipt.Along the way, attention drifts to neighbours who decorate with evangelical enthusiasm, festive music that promises feeling without substance, and the peculiar cultural agreement that Christmas must be enjoyed correctly, on schedule, and with visible enthusiasm. It's all very merry, in the way that British merriment often is, slightly strained at the edges.

We're having a six hour Christmas party. The music ranges from bluesy Christmas like BB King, Keb Mo, Karen Souza, and Charles Brown titles to torch songs, to the Beatles, Tom Petty and The Screaming Cheetah Wheelies, Springsteen, and noteable ballads such as Diamonds & Rust, Who Knows Where the Time Goes, and Sheryly Crow. It's a swingin' Christmas Party soundtrack that starts out mellow and seasonal and build up energy towards the end of the eveing.

We've got a bonus episode, birthday boy Jeremy and more Christmas Fun! Carol Vanstone (Jennifer Aniston) is going full Grinch and is planning to shut down the Chicago branch of the tech company her brother Clay (T.J. Miller) runs. To combat this, Clay, with his CTO Josh (Jason Bateman), tries to land one big client, Walter Davis (Courtney B. Vance), to save the day, the jobs, the spirit of the season, the world, etc… A real Christmas miracle is that Tracey (Olivia Munn) develops magical internet technology that connects to the power grid. While all of this is happening, there is one hell of an office party going on in the city. RTS straps on some cash and makes it a party to remember. Jeremy swings from strands of lights and does obscene things to laser printers. La-Mar finds out that Cronuts are a “bastard pastry.” Collin learns that God drives a Kia just like Mary (Kate McKinnon). Buckle up! There are MANY amazing cameos throughout this film. Jillian Bell and Randall Park are tying this season together! Happy Holidays!
