**TUNE IN EVERY FRIDAY at 2 EST for our LIVE REACTION to the episode, exclusively on YOUTUBE**As Carrie's character continues to lose all sense of life, personality and humanity, we couldn't help but wonder: what does MPK THINK he is doing here? Certainly not make any single one of us root for Aiden; everything that made Aiden "the one that got away" is now gone, leaving us with "GO AWAY, AIDEN!" After breaking this 200 year old glass (Carrie is the first person on earth who cares about GLASS this much) Aiden makes a shocking reveal, to which Carrie reacts to by shrugging and then gaslighting the entire audience into thinking we should have known her stance. Miranda and Joy are actually kind of a breath of fresh air, so lets at least be thankful for that. Something else we are ALWAYS grateful for? Jennifer Lewis. This woman can spin gold out of whatever this writing is. LTW's dad dies for the second time in the series, and there are a couple fleeting moments of greatness in the funeral (other than the egregious butchering of the lyrics of a Stephen Schwartz classic opening number). Meanwhile, Seeam is apparanly dirt poor, so that's at least the first semi-relatable storyline so far! Aiden comes to visit because Wyatt checked himself into a wilderness program for troubled youth because yeah, that would happen, LTW dares put her phone on silent for a few hours and her world implodes and Miranda's new gf doesn't like kids. Some might say we're too hard on this show but Stefanie would argue not hard enough.
(Part 2) Aiden comes to visit because Wyatt checked himself into a wilderness program for troubled youth because yeah, that would happen, LTW dares put her phone on silent for a few hours and her world implodes and Miranda's new gf doesn't like kids. Some might say we're too hard on this show but Stefanie would argue not hard enough.
It may have taken longer than we wanted, but we're finally somewhere and it feels so good. Before we get into the episode, we briefly chat about the NYTIMES Top 100 movies of the 21st Century and Love Island. But then we take it all on - LTW's loss, Charlotte as Pollyanna, Aidan's haunting appearance, and the joy of Joy.
Aidan announces his return to town with a crash, and then breaks some other pretty shocking news to Carrie. LTW puts her phone on silent and misses the passing of her dad (RIP Billy D, who IS still alive in real life, thank God), and ends up tussling with Lucille 3 (played by the great Jennifer Lewis) about arrangements, Charlotte finally gets busted while trying to keep Harry's secret secret, and Seema helps Miranda look for an apartment after a (sorta) tearful goodbye to her car & driver. Come for the storylines, stay for the MULTIPLE references to the hobbit universe and exploration about how squirrels see each other. And help us celebrate OUR independence (as a podcast) on this 7/4 drop by leaving us a helpful rating and review, and/or joining us over at patreon.com/kevinandjon!
Carrie and her stilettos have a standoff with her downstairs tenant. Carrie and Miranda's attempt at being roomies fails and Carrie asks Seema to find Miranda a place to live. Seema has another encounter with Adam in the garden. Harry asks Charlotte to keep a secret and it weighs heavily on her. Herbert is not happy about LTW's new editor. We're back for more torture. This week, we're talking about Carrie's new (??) downstairs neighbor, some tension (?) brewing between Miranda and Carrie, Seema's quest for a loan (?), the heavily anticipated (?) explanation for Harry's bladder issues and LTW's middle seat in economy (?). Plus, we're touching down on the value of invoking Samantha's name.Find us on Instagram:Drop Your Buffs: @dropyourbuffspodEvan: @evanrosskatzSean: @soda.pup This is a public episode. We continue to be gaslit into thinking two semi okay episodes in a row is like a gift from the heavens, but we will also continue to be slightly optomistic! Those few episodes of the slowest exposition on earth has finally started to pay off with some ACTUAL storylines. Now, mind you, the stories we ACTUALLY would love to see explored in greater detail, such as LTW's immediate work crush on Marion, or Carrie and Miranda living together "Odd Couple Style") are opened up and then immediately dumped minutes later, but at least we get gilmmers of the original series every so often, and at this point, we will take those moments happily and beg for more! Harry has prostate cancer (no mention of years-long friend Steve, who might be able to relate) so at least Charlotte has something more to do than walk a dog around central park and chop vegetables in her kitchen while Anthony looks on. We also get a couple texts with Samantha, which made us feel safe again, for one shining minute of television. Also, we see lots of nudity, and we can always appreciate that. Carrie's back from her horror jaunt to Virginia - and things are afoot in Gramercy Park, but before that we discuss a little Love Island and a recent review. We then get into it all - Seema's small business loan, LTW's dwindling marriage and the role references play within this show, Miranda and Carrie as roomies, and those damn shoes.
Executive producers Michael Patrick King, Elisa Zuritsky, and Julie Rottenberg are joined by executive story editor Rachel Palmer to dive into “Under the Table.” Together they discuss the motivation behind Charlotte's new crisis, LTW's selfie with her editor, and wanting Carrie and Miranda to come to the same conclusions about being roommates. They also reveal a Sex and the City easter egg wrapped into Seema's hunt for a new office. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
As we all know and definitely isn't something the show just jammed in there as a totally new thing out of nowhere: Carrie has a downstairs neighbor! He's a sexy, grumpy British author of questionable height who is serving so much Darcy that we couldn't help but wonder…is he a part of Carrie's “fiction”? Miranda also has some roommate troubles (hi penis, how ya doin' there butcher knife), which leads the two gals to room together for a bit in some fun and maddening shenanigans. LTW has a work crush, Charlotte is dealing with some actual serious Harry news, but they all go glamping. And most importantly…Seema…tries to get a loan! Hit us with a rating and a review and we promise not to stomp all over our apartment in heels! And join the never-ending fun at patreon.com/kevinandjon.
This episode had a TON to discuss this week! First of all, it was randomly kind of good, but that also might just be us reacting to something of substance after oh so many episodes of complete "HUH???". The MAIN topic of discussion is the subject of Wyatt. Ohhhh...Wyatt. Your two hosts are VERY split on our opinions of this kid. While we agree the actor is quite remarkable (because we all universally think this kid is the WORST), but where we differ is our thoughts on whether Wyatt's behavior is warrented and his family is being too hard on him, or if maybe this kid needs a good dose of SUCK IT UP AND GET OVER IT! Meanwhile, Miranda is now housesitting on an open-ended timeline, and after an embarassing on-air snafu, she is feeling slef conscious about her situation with the lovely Joy, who we LOVE. Harry is reduced to a bitchy neighbor who is also semi-impotent (not Charlotte's first ride around the carousel), Seema has a her own Jerry Maguire moment, and LTW and George Washington have some sleep paralysis demons coming to put their marriage to the test. Carrie Bradshaw is on ATV and we don't know how to feel about it, but we do know that this episode through us for a loop. But before that, we discuss Call Her Daddy for some reason. Carrie's in Virginia, folks! This episode is as big as Carrie's hat, because it's the first time back with our gals in a year and a half, and there's a lot to talk about: Miranda finding God (via someone else in her bed), Charlotte's falsely accused dog, Seema setting a fire like a dope and then having an absolute nothingburger of a relationship, LTW's PBS documentary and its will they/won't they relationship with Michelle Obama, and an absolutely iconic phone sex scene that has everyone in our DMs screaming, “DON'T!” Unlike Carrie's door, this ain't a false alarm: the Cidiots are back with you for another season, baby. As you move through this new year, are you merely setting Christian-sounding goals or truly seeking God daily with a heart of worship? In this special episode of Candid Conversations, Jonathan reflects on the importance of pursuing godliness above all else. Drawing from 1 Timothy 4:8, listeners will be reminded that physical and worldly disciplines have some value, but true transformation comes only through knowing Christ. Join Jonathan as he explores how cultural obsessions with self-improvement infiltrate the church, diluting the power of the Gospel. It's been quite a journey, but we have arrived at the penultimate episode of this insane series, and we have mixed feelings. So many storylines abandoned, or wrapped up too quickly, or too zany…Stanford is a MONK??? According to the writers, WE are the problem though because apparantly every storyline in this show has happened to somebody in the room, so I guess we have to eat crow. Otherwise MPK might have to admit fault for his own show, and a man would never do such a thing! Carrie wins a free dinner because she doesn't have enough already, so she invites everyone she's ever met regardless of how awkward it might be for her friends of over 30 years. Sam Smith makes an appearance first whatever reason, Miranda finds a new love interest because, as we know, whenever any two lesbians meet, they are instantly in love, Nya tiptoes her way to being written off the series completely, LTW unleashes on her husband for “whoops! Forgot to get that vasectomy”, and Steve decides to start a new life in clams. Also, all the parenting in this show is insane.
