Picking a Ballon d'Or winner is always tricky because it's done on a year-by-year basis - so we decided to make it 11 times more difficult and pick our Team of the Year across the whole of 2021 - in association with our friends at EA Sports FIFA 22. We go through piece-by-piece to discuss the best of the last calendar year and every single position within a team, in the formation we thought best to try and squeeze them in! There's also Things We Love, where Dean discusses Dortmund's new kit design competition, Sam sings about Dani Alves returning to play in Blaugrana and grabbing an assist, and Jack waxes lyrical about Francisco Conceiçāo's late winner for Porto and his celebrations with his dad, who also happens to be his manager. Melon of the Week comes from the madness that happened at the Stadio Olimpico this weekend between Roma and Juventus, whilst the Gibberish sheds some light on the best things that happened at Sam's wedding last Friday. It's Ranks! If you want to vote in the FIFA 2021 Team of the Year selections, the link is here! Learn more about your ad choices.

Spannende of leuke verhalen.

Bayern Munich is playing its third game since last Saturday and after two HUGE victories, it would be easy to think that the Bavarians could be primed for a letdown.  With so many key players out and a huge dissing of its star player via the Ballon d'Or mess, the Bavarians might just be playing with a chip on their collective shoulder. Hopefully for Bayern Munich fans, that is the case. Here is what we have on tap:  A look at where each team is in the table. An acknowledgement that Germany U-21 star Jonathan Burkardt deserves Bayern Munch's full attention.  A guess at Julian Nagelsmann's line-up. A prediction on the match. Another week of Bayern Munich related action has passed us by, and it's provided plenty of food for thought. Julian Nagelsmann is hitting the first speedbump of his tenure, as injuries and absentees pile up while the performances get increasingly more desperate. Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski was once again robbed of a deserved Ballon d'Or award, and the Bundesliga isn't allowed to have spectators again. Not great news, all things considered. In this episode, Ineednoname and Samrin discuss: Why Julian Nagelsmann is doing his best Carlo Ancelotti impression at the moment. The problems with Bayern's tactical setup — starting from Alphonso Davies' positioning and the consequences of the pseudo back-three. Thomas Muller's strange role, and how it negatively affects the rest of the system. The problem with Leroy Sane right now — is it fatigue or another slump? Where are the young players? Why doesn't Musiala play more often? Nagelsmann vs Flick — there's something missing from this Bayern Munich team. Changing topics, talking about the impact of the return of ghost games on the Bundesliga. Why having closed stadiums just doesn't make any sense (includes a rant by INNN). Closing the chapter on the Ballon d'Or — how Robert Lewandowski was robbed, and why Champions League performances matter more than ever to the club's image. The BarcaBreakdown discuss the contract negotiations with Ousmane Dembele as well as Lionel Messi winning his seventh Ballon d'Or! FC Barcelona is also close to signing Ferran Torres from Manchester City, and Sergi Roberto is undergoing a quadriceps injury that may keep him out for 8 weeks. Ousmane Dembele's contract is up in the summer of 2022, meaning Laporta and the Board will need to resign him this winter or Dembele will leave for free next Summer. Unfortunately, the press are reporting that though Dembele wants to stay at Barca, his agent is claiming he has much better offers from other European soccer teams. Though we love Dembele, we find the reports that he is trying to get "potential Ballon d'Or" money ridiculous considering his injury woes and general lack of consisten playing time during his stay with Barca. We are in favor of an incentive based contract that rewards him for playing well, though Dembele of course wants more guaranteed money. Ferran Torres, the forward for Manchester City and Spain, is reportedly agreeing to terms with FC Barcelona for a reduced wage that may see him come this winter transfer period. Man City and Barca are almost in agreement on a deal themselves, though of course FC Barcelona always have issues spending money due to our financial issues.
