I'LL SHOW YOU MINE tells the story of Priya Sura (Poorna Jagannathan), an author who found breakout success when she wrote a memoir about her abusive father. She has since made a career of exploring her own trauma through a feminist lens. Recently, however, she has been finding it harder and harder to have an emotional connection in her writing. So she's now mining someone else's trauma by interviewing Nic (Casey Thomas Brown), her nephew by marriage, about his history of exploitation as a gender nonconforming model and pansexual poster boy. But Nic won't engage without a quid pro quo, so to get to the most hidden parts of his story, she must dig into areas she has scrupulously managed to avoid in her own. Director Megan Griffiths (Eden, Lucky Them) joins us for a conversation on the challenges and rewards that come from a two actor film project, working with the talented duo of Poorna Jagannathan (The Night Of, Never Have I Ever) and Casey Thomas Brown (The Kominsky Method) and how finding a cinematic sweet spot for an engaging, and insightful character driven story about trauma and recognition. Our new rounds always begin with “New to Two,” and this week Nicole introduced Brett and David to Quentin Tarantino’s third feature film, "Jackie Brown." Featuring some of Tarantino’s signature elements (clever dialogue, loving shots of a woman’s feet, killer music choices) and deviating in equally significant ways (much less blood, a mature romantic element), "Jackie Brown" was only a modest success and one that a lot of fans have missed seeing. Join us as we dig into this low-profile Tarantino, and ask such questions as: Is this a modern blaxploitation movie? How are so many people getting shot in public with no one noticing? And WHAT is the deal with Samuel L. Jackson’s hair?Next week is Netflix Roulette! The movie? "Lucky Them." ... Lucky us.Head on over to TiltingWindmillStudios.com for more podcast episodes, columns, and more!
The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview Amir Arison from NBC's The Blacklist. In the third season of the hit NBC drama "The Blacklist," FBI Agent Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone, "Law & Order: LA") is now a fugitive and on the run with criminal mastermind Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader, "The Office," "Boston Legal"). With Assistant FBI Director Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix "The Matrix," "Ray") under investigation, a conflicted Agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff, "Homeland") leads the FBI Task Force on a massive manhunt for Liz and Red - who are more dangerous together than apart, since Liz has expert knowledge of FBI procedures and no one exceeds Red's vast resources. As they struggle to stay one step ahead of their former colleagues, and Liz immerses herself in Red's underworld of disreputable contacts and covert operations, will the list of this season's new Blacklisters play a key role in their survival or their demise? Liz is on an unpredictable journey of self-discovery, and all the pieces of her life, including her indefinable relationship with Tom (Ryan Eggold, "90210," "Lucky Them"), will be drastically challenged as she continues to believe Red holds all the answers.

Megan has worked in the independent film community for over a decade. Megan received her MFA in Film Production from the Ohio University School of Film. While in school Megan wrote and directed several award-winning student films including Not Waving but Drowning, a 2001 Student Academy Award nominee. Megan's first feature was First Aid for Choking, and Megan's second feature, The Off Hours, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Megan was a co-producer on Lynn Shelton's film Your Sister's Sister and on the acclaimed Sundance documentary, Zoo. Megan's third and most recent feature film that she has both written and directed, Eden, premiered at SXSW and has been lauded by critics and at other film festivals worldwide. Eden is about a young Korean-American girl, abducted and forced into prostitution by domestic human traffickers, who joins forces with her captors in a desperate plea to survive. Megan has also directed the upcoming film, Lucky Them, starring Toni Collette, Thomas Haden Church, and Oliver Platt, about a rock journalist assigned to track down her ex-boyfriend.
Thomas Haden Church joins host Robin Milling at the Tribeca Film Festival to talk about his film, Whitewash. Thomas, who spends most of his time in balmy Texas, says it was shocking to endure below freezing cold temperatures in the snowy mountains of Montreal. In fact traveling to locations were so remote only snowmobiles could get there. And if the blizzardy conditions weren't dangerous enough, Thomas tells Robin he got frostbite from pelting ice thrown at him from eight-foot turbine fans at 60 miles an hour! Church even considered camping out in the ice cave his character fashions for shelter but the budgetary requirements for looking after him would have been too steep. Church who now spends most of his time on his ranch in Texas makes movies almost as a side job. His next film is Lucky Them co-starring Toni Collette who is on a quest to search for her long lost rock star boyfriend played by Johnny Depp. Thomas who plays her friend documenting the adventure was courted by Paul Newman for the role. He tells Robin the story of how he received a package from Newman after returning home from shooting Spiderman 3. Enclosed was the script and a letter asking him to star in the film saying he was a Sideways fan. When Paul passed another letter came from Joanne Woodward asking him to stay on the project. Sadly he says he never got the opportunity to meet with Newman, but has their two letters framed together as a memento.
