शिव तथा सती के ऐक्य का प्रतीक है। शिव पुराण के अध्याय 38 में भी द्वादश ज्योर्तिलिंग की जो चर्चा की गई है, उसमें बैद्यनाथं चिताभूमौ का उल्लेख है। जो यह स्पष्ट करता है कि यहाँ सती का हृदय गिरा था। यहाँ की शक्ति 'जयदुर्गा' तथा शिव 'वैद्यनाथ' हैं। यह धाम सभी ज्योतिर्लिंगों से सर्वाधिक महत्वपूर्ण माना जाता है क्योंकि इस स्थान पर ज्योतिर्लिंग के साथ शक्तिपीठ भी मौजूद है। इसी कारण से इस स्थान को ह्रदय पीठ या हार्द पीठ के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। जहां पर मंदिर स्थित है उस स्थान को देवघर यानी देवताओं का घर कहा गया है। बैद्यनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग कामना लिंग के नाम से भी विख्यात है। मान्यता है कि यहां आने वाले हर भक्त की मनोकामना विल्वपत्र के साथ जलार्पण से ही पूरी हो जाती है।

Navami or the ninth day during Navratri is considered highly auspicious. This day is celebrated as Mahanavami. Maha Navami - this term means the great ninth day. It is believed that on this day Maa Durga took the form of Mahisasur Mardini to destroy Mahishaura, the demon who was terrorizing our universe.

According to the wisdom of yoga we all have divine masculine and divine feminine energies within us. Divine masculine represents as our analytical side and divine feminine represents our emotional side. Any imbalance in these energies creates mental, physical, or emotional illness. Shardiya Navaratri is a major festival of Hinduism. This festival of worship of Goddess Shakti starts October 17. According to Hindu Panchang, Navratri festival starts from Pratipada of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month which continues till Navami date. In Navaratri, the nine forms of Maa Durga are worshiped and the devotees observe Mata Rani for nine days. On the first day of Navratri, where there is a law to do Ghatasthapana in the auspicious time, then on the last day, a fast is opened by worshiping Kanyas, the young girls.
