This podcast episode brings several eye-opening facts to light about how Gandhi misled the Hindu community into supporting the Pan Islamic Khilafat Movement. It was Gandhi who unilaterally glorified the bigoted Ali Brothers as nationalists and freedom fighters. Few people today know that Mohammad Ali got a Fatwa issued by 500 Ulemas throughout India to rebel against the government. Mohandas Gandhi endorsed this Fatwa from the official platform of the Indian National Congress. In a parallel development, the Khilafat Committee in Malegaon, Maharashtra, began making violent speeches, which eventually led to unprovoked violence committed by Muslims in the town. For three days in April 1921, the Muslim community set Malegaon on fire leading to a mini pogrom of Hindus, temple destruction, vandalism and large scale looting. This is a horrific chapter of recent history that has been largely untold. Listen to the full episode containing precious insights and hidden details of this incident and the career of Mohandas Gandhi.Support Our PodcastsIf you enjoyed this episode, please consider supporting The Dharma Dispatch podcast so we can offer more such interesting, informative and educational content related to Indian History, Sanatana Dharma, Hindu Culture and current affairs. Ramesh, former Joint Director General of the ASI, Arjun Singh effectively blocked the Ayodhya excavations and further delayed the rebuilding of the Ram Mandir. Pranidhana is the practice of devotion—shifting from parenting through personal identity to parenting as an instrument of the Divine. This path unfolds through satsang (inspiration), lower seva (service with struggle), sadhana (inner work), and finally, Higher seva (selfless service). Santosha, invites us to smile – arising when our actions are offered with sincerity and trust, leading to a calm, joyful presence in parenting. Together, these practices invite us to parent with less control and more allowance.Interested in registering for our live, virtual course with Vivekji and other guides?
