In this powerful episode of She Who Dares Wins, Michelle is joined by Sophie, a trail runner and adventurer who traded everyday comfort for an intense social and survival experiment on a Maldivian desert island.Sophie explains how:A lifetime of running, from competitive school races to joyful trail running after university, set the foundation for bigger adventures.A wild night on the dance floor at Love Trails festival – googly eyes, sequins, and all – led to meeting Danny and joining his crew on a 10‑day, 208‑mile run across Iceland. That Iceland experience became the gateway to something even more extreme: a “human experiment” where 20 people were dropped on a desert island for six days, with only two days of survival training.Together, Michelle and Sophie explore:Survival skills & the reality of ‘paradise'The basics of surviving on an atoll: coconuts, fish, and crabs as the only real food sources.Learning to climb coconut trees, use palm fronds for shelter, and build “questionable” ladders.Spear fishing, line fishing with makeshift plastic‑bottle rods, and using crabs as bait.Food, ethics, and our disconnection from where food comes fromThe emotional impact of killing the animals you eat and facing that reality head‑on.Why wasting a single fish felt so heavy when you'd speared it yourself. How the experience shifted Sophie's relationship with meat, fish, and supermarket food back home.Hunger, morale, and the “emergency rice” dilemmaThe physical and mental crash around day two as the group struggled with heat, exertion, and very few calories. The group vote to bring in emergency rice, and how simply knowing there was a back‑up completely changed morale. The fascinating “tribes” that formed between rice eaters vs. non‑rice eaters, and what that revealed about identity and pride.Community, leadership and group dynamicsHow the group decided to appoint Kelly, an Alaskan hunter and fisher, as a leader – and what it means to “lead from the back”.The challenge of finding enough food for 20 people vs. surviving alone. How everyone eventually “found their groove” and unique role in the micro‑society on the island.Phones, presence, and creative freedomWhat happens when you are suddenly phone‑free and offline: the initial withdrawal, then complete freedom.Discovering how much time and joy re‑appears when you're carving coconuts, playing games, swimming and simply talking – with no schedule and no notifications. The struggle of bringing those lessons back into a “normal” life that's busy, structured and always online.Deep connection and telling the truth about yourselfWhy deep, face‑to‑face connection around a campfire is nothing like “social media connection”.How the island gave people space to tell their real stories, share things they'd held in for years, and be met without judgment.Sophie's biggest personal takeaway: the confidence that she can show up as her full, slightly weird, authentic self and still be accepted. The episode closes with a powerful reflection on what Sophie will leave on the island, what she'll bring home, and how adventures like this can remind us what really matters: presence, people, and permission to be ourselves. To find out more about the experiment and see if you can joing the next one - shoot sophie a message on Instagram @street_sophie For the running adventures check out https://greatsilkrun.com/ Hosted on Acast. Delivered by Evelyn from the Parish of Holy Spirit in the Archdiocese of Singapore. Isaiah 52: 13 - 53: 12; Rs psalm 31: 2.6.12-13.15-16.17.25; Hebrews 4: 14-16; 5: 7-9; John 18: 1 - 19: 42.BE A HELPER FOR THOSE WHO SUFFER Our meditation on this Good Friday has the theme: Be aHelper for Those Who Suffer. According to the Gospel of John, Our Lady stoodnear the Cross of Jesus (Jn 19: 25-27). But actually she was in the same crowdthat followed Jesus on his way to Calvary. The mother had once met her Sonalong the Via Dolorosa (the Passion of the Lord). The mother looked at her Sonin silence and sadness, but her heart was full of God's grace. A man who made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Simon ofCyrene, was forced to help carry the cross of Jesus. He obeyed even though itwas not Jesus who requested to do such help. Of course, Jesus was very gratefulto him. Simon represented many people who want to help Jesus in his very tragicmoments, but they are afraid of the executioners who punished Jesus so brutaland without mercy. There are those who directly offer their help like Simon, and there are also those whose intentions to help are carried out by other whohave opportunity to help, but there are those who intend not to help and justwatching Jesus from distance. Veronica is a woman who helped Jesus even though shewas not found in any of the four Gospels or other New Testament writings. Thestory of her is found in the apocryphal writings, which are not included in thecanonical scriptures that the Church now has. For example, Pilate's story fromthe 2nd century tells us that a woman named Veronica (Bernice, in Greek) wasthe same woman who had been healed by Jesus from the hemorrhage illness (Mt9,20-22). Veronica defended Jesus before Pilate that Jesus was innocent. Fromthe fourth or fifth century it is recorded that Veronica had a piece of clothwith a picture of the original face of Jesus. The three figures who helped Jesus in His via dolorosawere enough to illustrate that men and women followers of Christ can be goodhelpers to their neighbors. This help is classified into two types. First isthe help in the form of corporal acts of love. A corporal act of love is shownin the carrying the heavy cross of the suffering person like what Simon ofCyrene did. We can help to take up all the burden, a half of it, or a smallpart of it, and those with heavy burden can find it easy to go on in theirjourney of life. The type of spiritual acts also becomes an importanthelp for those in difficulty and suffering. A presence that gives consolation, an encouragement shown, a sense ofcompassion expressed, and a moral or spiritual support provided, all theseare acts of love that can bring joy andpeace for those who suffer and distress. The common way that we do in thisstyle is our sympathy or prayers. Through this, we actually help them to bestrong in bearing the burden and be faithful always to the Lord. This help alsoaims to keep up their spirit and avoid any negative reaction like giving up,anger and losing confidence. Mary and Veronica are exemplary women who havedone this to Jesus Christ. We can do the same as they did.Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... O God of mercy, we beg for forgiveness ofour mistakes for not helping others who are in pain and suffering. Hail Mary, full of grace ... In the name of the Father ...
Dating after domestic violence, coercive control, or post-separation abuse is one of the most under-discussed topics in the survivor space. Most people are somewhere between terrified and convinced it's simply not possible for them.In this honest, personal episode, Danielle Black shares what dating after abuse actually looked like from the inside - not a glossy highlight reel, but the real experience of venturing back into connection while still afraid. This episode explores:Why "my picker is broken" is one of the most common fears after abusive relationships - and what to do with itThe difference between waiting until you're not afraid, and doing it afraid anywayWhy safety is not the absence of threat - it is the presence of safe connectionHow self-trust, not trust in another person, is the foundation of healthy relationships after abuseWhat Danielle looked for, paid attention to, and would have walked away fromThe role of nervous system capacity in building new relationships after traumaWhy "not fully healed" is not the same as "not ready"What it means to love fully while trusting yourself to have your own backThis episode follows on from Episode 97, in which Danielle's husband Drew joined the podcast for the first time. It does not require you to have listened to that episode first - but listeners who have will find it deepens what was raised there. If you have wondered whether healthy relationships after abuse are possible for you - or whether you are simply too damaged, too cautious, or too far from ready - this episode is for you.As always, this episode is not legal advice and not therapy.Explore the supports offered by Danielle Black CoachingThe Post-Separation Parenting Blueprint™

La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
Delivered by Margareth, Greg, Kezia, Svara Nirmala from the Parish of Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral in the Archdiocese of Makassar, Indonesia. Sirach 3: 2-6.12-14; Rs psalm 128: 1-2.3.4-5; Colossians 3: 12-21; Matthew 2: 13-15.19-23.TOGETHER WE CARE FORFAMILY The title for ourmeditation on this Feast of the Holy Family is: Together We Care for Family. Fromthe moment of creation, God has created humans to live in the family, whichbegins with mutual love between a man and a woman. From there comes marriageand the offspring it produces. The first andforemost commandment for the family life is a man to take a woman as his wifeand they live in unity of one flesh. One man and one woman united by God on thebasis of love and in the name of God. Another equally important commandment isthat marriage produces offspring. For a marriage toremain united, then the children of the marriage grow in accordance withexpectations, therefore, discipline in life is needed. According to the Scripturereadings of today, we can call this discipline of life a common responsibilityto care for the family. God forms a familynot with just one person, but one man and one woman plus children with theuniqueness of each. They must walk and work together to build a family. Theyare together not only when the family is happy or having good moments of growthand life. They must be stronger in unity and cooperation among its members whendifficulties and threats come to endanger the life of the family. God wishes parentsand children's relationship must be taken care to help families to become happy, peaceful and healthy in their journey of life. According to the book of Sirach,a man of faith who fears God and is faithful to His commandments, must practiceit through obedience to his parents. We believe that parents are God'srepresentatives to us on this world. The way we together carefor families is also mentioned in the teaching of Saint Paul in the secondreading today. It says that a family must live with love. The family beginswith the love of a husband and a wife, is built in love, and expected to finallyarrive at perfect love, which is in unity with God. The story of the HolyFamily of Nazareth who fled to Egypt is an example of how we together care forfamilies when they are in trouble, under threat, and in danger. This commonduty is done not only among the membersof one's family or neighbors, but also with the power of God who intervenes. When God intervenes in our trouble and problematic families, the work of caringfor them will be easier and meeting its good end. God helps when the family is introuble. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O Lord, may this Sunday, Feast of the Holy Family help our families to livemore faithful and obedient to You. I spent time talking (actually grilling) Brennan Haelig, the founder of Jumpstart ROI—an agency managing millions in ad spend and known for helping creatives (especially photographers) grow with simple, practical marketing. He even give us the investment potential, both from the cost of the ad to what to expect to pay a pro to help us.Brennan shares journey from losing everything to building a thriving company gives him a grounded, real-world perspective that I think you will be inspired by. And how he ended up understanding the needs of photographers when marketing to potential clients. What to Listen ForThe surprisingly simple, but very effective, ad offer photographers are getting great results fromThe one targeting shift that makes Meta ads actually workWhy “boosting” isn't all bad—and when to use itThe mindset change that can transform your relationship with marketingHis parting thought is to just challenge your limiting beliefs around digital marketing and around paid advertising. Just because you tried it once and it didn't work doesn't mean it can't be a game changer with a few tweaks.Connect with Brennanbrennan@jumpstartroi.comwww.jumpstartroi.com/photographyConnect with Photography Business Coach Luci Dumas: Website Email: luci@lucidumas.comInstagram FacebookYouTubeNew episodes drop every week — make sure to subscribe so you never miss an inspiring guest or a powerful solo episode designed to help you grow your photography business.
You're not afraid of competition. You're afraid of being replaced. That's why you hesitate to join the mastermind full of women like you. Why you stay late instead of delegating. Why the thought of bringing on a podcast guest who does something similar makes your stomach drop. You tell yourself it's about staying focused or protecting your brand. But really? It goes back to that one time another girl made you feel like you weren't enough. Your body still remembers it.Today I'm getting vulnerable and sharing my own sister wound - two events from senior year of high school. I learned it wasn't safe to let other women get close. And that lesson has been steering my business decisions, my collaborations, even who I invite on this podcast.I'm not here to dig up the past for drama's sake. I'm here because I finally figured out why I pull back when I should be leaning in - and you probably do the same thing. Once we know this...we can set ourselves free from our sabotage! What you'll hear:What a sister wound actually is (and the subtle ways it shows up in your business and leadership)Why my fear of being "outshined" was keeping me from bringing on the exact guests you need to hear fromThe 3-section journaling process that goes way deeper than "what are you grateful for" - straight to the emotional rootHow to tell if you're protecting yourself from collaboration, networking, or visibility without even realizing itWhy your younger self created rules to keep you safe - and how to teach her a new definition of belongingBy the end, you'll likely recognize your own pattern. And you'll have the prompts to actually work through it - not just understand it intellectually. This one shifted something big for me. I have a feeling it might for you too.Resources Mentioned:Sister Wounds Journal Prompts: Strategic Journaling to Process & Release Your Sister WoundsFree Calm Mind Blueprint: http://www.samanthapenkoff.com/calm-mind-podWork with me:90 min Breakthrough Intensives: We get to the root of what keeps you performing instead of enjoying. La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
Delivered by Galdys from the Parish of Saint Gabriel in the Diocese of Bandung, Indonesia. Daniel 7: 2-14; Rs psalm: Add Dan 3: 75.76.77.78.79.80.81; Luke 21: 29-33.EXPERIENCING THECOMING OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD Our meditation ontoday is entitled: Experiencing the Coming of the Kingdom of God. Throughoutthe year we meet the change of natural seasons: hot to cold and cold to hot. Fromthe point of view of Church's liturgy, in two days time we will begin a newliturgical year. The immediate effect of welcoming this new year is an act ofadaptation because we need to go along with the new season. In doing so werevew our lives according to the will of God and Church. The Lord Jesus speaksof the coming of the kingdom of God, and He encourages us to take notice of itssigns, then willing to welcome it and finally renew ourselves. Even though ifthe signs revealed to us are of things afterlife, we inevitably have to welcomeit up because it is the Lord Himself who is present in those signs. We need tobe ready to accept Him, and our readiness means that we start renewing and thenlive in a new form of believers. At various stages oflife, the mentality of making plans for any activity is a very concrete need. From simple activities such as a dinner invitation at a friend's house to amultinational company plan for lauching its new project or a diocesan pastoral careset up for the whole year plan. Our lives and activities become smooth andenjoyable when they are planned. If there is no plan, any activity will be inchaos. Because of an unplanned life, we are not sure of what will be done andthere is no definite direction to be followed. If there is no plan,we don't know what or who we are going to welcome. We also cannot adapt as away of renewal of self that we need to do. Only those who have plan canexperience the beauty of welcoming God and have the joy of being renewed. IfGod comes to meet us in the celebration of the eucharist, for example, our planto welcome Him should be made hours before the actual celebration. Thereforethe meeting itself in the celebration of Eucharist will become a special andmeaningful experience. Definitely the Eucharist becomes a light for ourselvesthat are already renewed. On the contrary, if neitherpreparation nor plan from our part, the meeting in the eucharist will become acomplicated chaos that can endanger our spiritual lives: whether God is feltsilent or He is so far away, whether we are besieged by laziness and easily getsleep, whether we are simply forced to attend the eucharist because of pressurefrom others, either we just pass the time of one day off from works and otherundertakings. God who comes inEucharistic celebrations is also the One who comes in other occasions in thislife. And the universal law for every believer is that we need to welcome Himbecause He brings precious gifts to us. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O Father, the Almighty one, may our desire to meet You becomes our dailyneed, and not simply a need when we have hard times in life. Hail Mary, full ofgrace ... In the name of the Father ...
Today's conversation is going to transform the way you think about money, and maybe even the way you cook dinner.
Welcome to a special 7-episode bonus series: The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Path.I interviewed my most successful clients to find out what actually created transformation for them when nothing else worked. Their answers were surprisingly similar — and I've distilled everything into 7 steps you can follow. In Episode 1, I'm sharing Kelly's story. Kelly had tried everything — practiced hard, read all the mental game books, knew all the right answers. But nothing was working. In fact, she was getting worse. When she reached out to me, she'd had enough. The pain of staying stuck had finally become greater than the fear of doing something different. She was 100% committed. That decision was her real first tee.In this episode, you'll learn:Why you can't halfway change your golf brainWhy vulnerability is where confidence actually comes fromThe difference between commitment and perfectionHow to write your Big Why (your anchor when things get hard)Want the downloadable tools? You've built your dream practice. You're booked solid. People are telling you "You've made it!" because you have 52 people on your waitlist. But instead of feeling successful, you're drowning. You wake up at 3am thinking about all the people you can't help. You feel guilty every time you take a day off. You're starting to realize that your "success" feels suspiciously like moral injury.Maybe you think a full practice means you're doing everything right. Maybe you've been told that waitlists are proof of your value and expertise. Maybe you're starting to suspect that trying to save everyone individually is slowly killing you—and leaving the people who need help most behind. What if I told you that your waitlist isn't proof you've succeeded—it's proof the system is fundamentally broken? While we're celebrating individual capacity metrics, we're missing a profound truth: the healing model we inherited was never designed to work. We're trying to empty the ocean with a teaspoon, and then wondering why we're exhausted and people are still drowning. In this raw, unfiltered conversation, I share a call that changed everything:Why your waitlist is actually a wound in a broken system—not a badge of honourThe uncomfortable truth about who actually makes it off waitlists (and who gets left behind)How we've been conditioned to believe healing only happens in isolation—and why that's destroying usThe difference between being the healer and creating conditions for healingWhy the math of one-person-one-hour-one-room will never add up to liberationHow traditional therapy recreates the same systems we're trying to heal people fromThe moment my colleague realized she was complicit in leaving people behindWhy "I built my dream practice and now it feels like a nightmare" is the most honest thing anyone has said about modern therapyHow to shift from scarcity-based individual healing to abundance-based community transformationThe revolutionary idea that your value isn't in how many people you personally saveWhy moral injury disguised as success is keeping therapists trapped and clients waitingThe vision of what becomes possible when we stop trying to be the sole source of healingBottom Line: The system that creates waitlists—that makes healing scarce, keeps people isolated, and exhausts therapists—is counting on us being too tired to imagine anything different. But your waitlist isn't your fault. Staying stuck in a system that creates it when you know there's another way? That's a choice.Your colleague with 52 people waiting isn't failing. The system is. And maybe it's time we all chose differently.

It's so good to be back after a bit of a break, and I'm excited about the fresh content we have lined up for you. Let me start by asking you this: How do you measure your strength? Is it in the power of your grip or maybe in winning an arm-wrestling match? What if I told you that your greatest strength is actually found in your weakest moments? Intriguing, right? Today, we're diving into this powerful truth with a message from our Lead Pastor, Steven Darr. So, let's jump right in and hear what God has in store for us!"In this episode, you'll discover:How the world determines who is strongerWhat the book of Hebrews says about strengthHow the story of Samson shows strength in weaknessWhere true strength comes fromThe world views strength and fortitude very differently than the Scriptures do. The idea of finding strength in weakness feels completely foreign to a secular mindset, where weakness is often dismissed, ridiculed, or rejected. But in Scripture, this concept is woven beautifully throughout both the Old and New Testaments. Strength in weakness is God's invitation for us to trust Him fully and rely on His power in every circumstance. As we return to sharing regular episodes, we hope you'll join us on this journey by hitting the subscribe button below so you never miss out.
