He enters her mouth after assuming a minute form and comes out after splitting her bely open and killing her. On the monkey heroes getting despondent at the sight of the (Indian) ocean which they found difficult to cross, Angada enquires of them if anyone of them was capable of leaping across the sae dividing India from Lanka. Sampati tells Angada how having once soared with his younger brother to the neighbourhood of the solar orb in his eagerness to test their relative strength and flying power, he had his own wings burnt in trying to save the wings of Jatayu by spreading his own wings over them as a canopy, and dropped on a peak of the Vindhyan range. Inquired by Angada if he knew anything about the abduction of Sita, he acknowledged his having seen a youthful lady being borne away by Ravana and crying out "Rama", which now leads him to think that she was no other than Sri Rama's beloved spouse. Sampati further tells Angada how, gifted as he was with an inordinately long vision, he could see Lanka, the capital of Ravana at a distance of one hundred Yojanas, as well as the place where Sita has been lodged. With the rapid growth of new evidence from astronomy, space science and biology that supports the theory of life as a cosmic rather than terrestrial phenomenon, this book discusses a set of crucial data and pictures showing that life is still arriving at our planet. Although it could spark controversy among the most hardened sceptics this book will have an important role in shaping future science in this area.We are led to believe that modern science is free of all forms of irrational prejudice that plagued science over the centuries. In this book we document an instance when this is far from true in relation to the most fundamental aspects of biology — the question of the origin of life and its cosmic provenance. From the early 1980's evidence in favour of the theory of cosmic life and a version of panspermia, developed by Fred Hoyle and CW has grown to the point that its continued marginalisation, or even outright rejection, is a cause for serious concern. We present here the story of panspermia in which we ourselves have been directly involved…Milton Wainwright, BSc, PhD, FRAS was born in 1950 in the mining village of Fitzwilliam in the West Riding of Yorkshire. He obtained his BSc and PhD from Nottingham University, and after a short period as a National Research Council of Canada Research Fellow became lecturer in Environmental Microbiology at the University of Sheffield. Here, he taught and researched for forty-two years in the Departments of Microbiology and Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. He is an Honorary Professor at the Universities of Cardiff and Buckingham, UK, the University of Ruhuna, Sri, Lanka, and the Slavic University of North Macedonia; he is also a Visiting Professor of King Saud University, Riyadh, and one of the few biologists to be made a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. He has published widely on the history of science, particularly on the germ theory, the history of antibiotics (notably penicillin) and alternative accounts of the history of natural selection and evolution. Nalin Chandra Wickramasinghe, MBE, BSc (Ceylon), MA, PhD, ScD (Cantab), Hon DSc (Sri Lanka, Ruhuna), Hon DLitt (Tokyo, Soka), FRAS, FRSA was born in 1939 in Sri Lanka. He commenced work in Cambridge on his PhD degree under the supervision of the late Sir Fred Hoyle, and published his first scientific paper in 1961 He was awarded a PhD degree in Mathematics in 1963 and was elected a Fellow of Jesus College Cambridge in the same year. In the following year he was appointed a Staff Member of the Institute of Astronomy at the University of Cambridge where he remained until 1973. He was formerly a Fellow of Jesus College Cambridge and Staff Member of the Institute of Astronomy, University of Cambridge; Formerly Professor and Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Astronomy, Cardiff University, UK; Director of the Buckingham Centre for Astrobiology, University of Buckingham, UK; Honorary Professor, University of Buckingham; Honorary Professor University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka; Honorary Professor, Sir John Kotelawala Defence University of Sri Lanka; Adjunct Professor, National Institute of Fundamental Studies, Sri Lanka. He has also held visiting Professorial appointment in the US, Canada and Japan and Sri Lanka over the past four decades. Professor Wickramasinghe has published over 350 papers in major scientific journals, some sixty in the journal Nature. Together with the late Sir Fred he pioneered the theory of cometary panspermia the evidence for which has become compelling over the past few years. Ladies and gentlemen, scientists and skeptics alike, today we are thrilled to announce a scientific project that will rock the very foundations of virology. In an unprecedented effort led by Jamie Andrews and sponsored by The Way Forward, a team of independent biologists are conducting the most exhaustive virological control experiments ever. This brave team of scientists have completely dismantled virology's so-called "evidence," rendering the foundational aspects of virology totally pseudoscientific and fraudulent. The Life of Padma, or the Paümacariu, is a richly expressive Jain retelling in the Apabhramsha language of the famous Ramayana tale. It was written by the poet and scholar Svayambhudeva, who lived in south India around the beginning of the tenth century. Like the epic tradition on which it is based, The Life of Padma narrates Prince Rama's exile, his search for his wife Sita after her abduction by King Ravana of Lanka, and the restoration of his kingship. The second volume recounts Rama's exile with Sita and his brother Lakshmana. The three visit various cities--rather than ashrams, as in most versions; celebrate Lakshmana's marriages; and come upon a new city built in Rama's honor. In Dandaka Forest, they encounter sages who are masters of Jain doctrine. Then, the discovery of Sita's disappearance sets the stage for war with Ravana. Eva De Clercq's The Life of Padma (Harvard UP, 2023) is the first direct translation into English of the oldest extant Apabhramsha work, accompanied by a corrected text, in the Devanagari script, of Harivallabh C. The Ramayana: The Ramayana is an epic poem that tells the story of Lord Rama and his journey to rescue his wife Sita from the demon king Ravana. The story is set in the ancient kingdom of Kosala, where Rama is the prince of Ayodhya. The epic follows Rama's fourteen-year exile to the forest, along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana, after being exiled by his father King Dasharatha, on the request of Rama's stepmother Kaikeyi. During their exile, Sita is kidnapped by Ravana, the king of Lanka, who wants to marry her. Rama allies with the monkey king Sugriva and his army, and sets out to rescue Sita and defeat Ravana.
