Most of {demoralization} is done by Americans to Americans, due to a lack of moral standards. Exposure to true information doesn't matter anymore. One who is demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell nothing. Even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof, even if I take him by force... and show him a concentration camp, he will refuse to believe it - until the military boot crushes his balls, then he will understand - but not before that. The next stage is destabilization... economy, foreign relations, and defense systems. The next stage is crisis. And after crisis, with a violent change of power, structure, + economy, you have the so-called period of normalization. It may last indefinitely. This is what will happen in the United States if you allow all these schmucks to bring the country to crisis, to promise people all kinds of goodies and the paradise on Earth, to destabilize your economy, to eliminate the principle of free market competition, and to put a Big Brother government in Washington, D.C., with benevolent dictators... who will promise lots of things. Never mind whether the promises unfulfillable or not... He will create false illusions that the situation is under control. The situation is not under control. It's snake oil. Toxic fumes to huff so you're too high to notice them abusing your free labor and support.  Pretends to be empowering, when it's the opposite. I think the skeeziest lie about the trad wife movement is that it's just a type of stay at home mom. Unlike stay-at-home moms, who may choose to stay home for practical reasons, like saving money on child care or because they genuinely want to, trad wives adhere to incredibly strict traditional gender roles - regardless of what the woman actually wants. A woman's identity becomes "the family" and looking "good" for the family, anything outside of that is to be shamed explicitly. According to wikipedia: Tradwives have been linked to the alt-right movement.Patriarchy need the gender binary so they can claim that things fit neatly into it. If I say men and women exist and there's no spectrum of how that presents, despite there being no proof - I also get to say that some work is women's work and I won't ever have to do it. Washing the dishes is a life skill that anyone who has eaten off of a dish should master. Laundry is a life skill. Cooking is a life skill. Child rearing is a life skill. Hygiene is a life skill. Communication is a life skill. If you have a life, it will benefit from knowing how to do these skills. Forced binaries are an attempt to control the uncontrollable. The OG Fleetwood Mac sues their manager for their name. They settle out of court and hire Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks and record an album titled "Fleetwood Mac" which does really well. Like, chart-topping well. They're facing increased pressure to create a follow up hit and all of their personal relationships start to fall apart. Putting a rubber band or hair tie around your phone is a cheap and super effective way to increase your mindfulness of your usage.20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, take a 20 second break looking at something 20 feet away. Having an alternative available builds the muscle of doing other activities rather than scrolling every single time our hands are idle. Turn off notifications. Delete apps you don't want to spend so much time on. Set screentime limits. Use an app to gamify your habits. Don't use your phone as an alarm clock. Put your phone on grayscale. Instead of worrying about flawlessly juggling all the balls in your life, try to figure out if any of the glass balls are replaceable, or if you have any backup to help you balance or tidy or judge which balls need to be gently set down for a while. And if you step on some glass and feel some pain -You feeling pain isn't a signal of failure but a reminder you're human.  Is it possible to lower the stakes? Can you downgrade a glass ball from needing perfection to just needing completion? Can you put on a pair of shoes to protect yourself from these inevitable drops? Through boundary setting, therapists, community aid, etc. You feeling overwhelmed is a sign you're paying attention, which is more than most people can say. Society has a way of telling us we're doing a bad job no matter how well we're doing, so let's do better at reclaiming our agency over that feeling. Arbitrary timelines aside, what really matters? I'm the type of person who always feels like I'm running late despite the fact that I very rarely am. I've been trying a new type of thought exercise where I take a moment to visit with a more senior or elderly me. Sometimes it's my 81st birthday. I sit as her, with the underlying understanding that everything did eventually work itself out, and I had a great, full, and beautiful life despite all of its challenges. As I sit in my 80 ish year old body, I take a moment to reflect on the good parts I can recall and then I bring her back to my 37 year old body. With the back that creaks so much less often and feet that ache so much less intensely. I bring my senior self back into the apartment she hasn't seen for decades in the town she sometimes misses. She looks at her partner with adoring eyes as they haven't wrinkled and spotted in the sun just yet. She puts sunscreen on us both and digs out the old hobbies she regrets not taking more seriously. She takes her time to cook a nourishing meal with hands that don't shake and arms strong enough to lift the dutch oven. She eats slowly because there is no rush, and she has learned that in her many years of rushing on this planet. She feels excited to be in a body she used to not appreciate. She wants to wander and explore with these eyes that seem to see more clearly and bones that don't tire so quickly. She's not afraid about missing a boat because she realized there is no single boat. So I try not to be afraid of missing the boat. She reminds me that we can build our own boats, or chill on the beach - it doesn't really matter as long as we remember it doesn't matter. As long as the truly objectively important shit gets done, we need to stop pretending like it's possible to get everything else done too. One way to remember that is to allow your future self to lend you some peace and wisdom once in a while. So she lends me her peace and she lends me her wisdom and with it she returns to me more energized, and grateful to be alive and able to experience this time again. For the first time in years she is awakened to the miraculous nature of this current life. As someone who gets flustered and frustrated during confrontations, I tend to use humor as my first line of defense, which can be a powerful tool to disarm without escalating. But when people double down, I get flustered, especially when dealing with bad-faith arguments or deeply entrenched beliefs. I am focused on learning when to escalate, confront, engage, or disengage, and it has completely changed my perspective on what makes a "successful conflict". Not every battle needs fighting. Ask: Is this person open to dialogue, or just looking to provoke? Will bystanders benefit from your response, even if the bigot won't? Is your energy better spent elsewhere? If they're just trolling, sometimes the best response is disengagement. Read the room and react accordingly. Walk, don't run. Running may cause you to breath more heavily, filling your lungs with more tear gas. Try to keep breathing even.If your eyes have been exposed and are burning or blurry, flush them with water immediately. Try not to touch your eyes, nose, or mouth. Use water from your water bottle to flush. If you can find an open drinking fountain or sink in a public restroom, flush your eyes with water for 10 to 15 minutes.There is no evidence that baking soda or milk is better than cool water alone. There is one small randomized controlled trial that found that baby shampoo is no better than water.
