#UFCColumbus #ChrisRock #WillSmith #TheSlap #WorldCup We welcomed our old friend Stephane Cappellini to conduct a podcast with us to breakdown the UFC fight card from Columbus Ohio and preview UFC 273. We missed our usual Monday evening guest Jason Cameron who is at home recovering from an accident. We extend our best wishes and words of encouragement for a speedy recovery! Stephane did a great job in relief though and this was a fun podcast that you will enjoy! This episode was supposed to focus on MMA and the latest fight cards but started with a couple of very topical subjects. The Oscars that took place this past weekend were upstaged by Will Smith taking offense to a joke about his wife(Jada Pinkett Smith) and delivered by comedian Chris Rock. He marched up and got on stage and slapped Rock across the face. When he returned to his seat he screamed twice at Rock to keep his wife's name out of his mouth and used some expletives to emphasize his point. It was all people could talk about all day today! Most observers thought it was a staged comedic bit until Smith(who eventually won best actor) repeated his warning so loudly and with such dramatic emphasis. Let us know your thoughts on the incident. You will enjoy the lively discussion about the great feat of the Canadian Men's Soccer team winning their qualifying group and advancing to the World Cup for the first time in 36 years! This became another unifying moment in the country's history as the run that this team was on edged closer to solidifying the most coveted berth. In this proud nations sporting history this will be remembered as an incredibly defining moment of patriotism and nationalism. Congratulations to the entire team and surrounding staff that brought millions of fans from coast to coast together! On the heels of the UFC in the UK this fight card had a lot to live up to and the live crowd in Columbus, Ohio did their best to voice their support or displeasure at every opportunity. The main and co-main events were overshadowed on the evening by an all out war between a home town favorite in Matt( The Immortal) Brown and Bryan(Bam Bam) Barbarena. Our host Darren Campbell said it was one of his top ten fights of all time in terms of a toe to toe brawl. The last two fights really showcased the contenders from the pretenders and definitely moved the winners into the upper echelon of their respective weight classes. Even though Curtis( Razor ) Blaydes has lost twice to the current champ Francis(The Predator) Ngannou and once to Derrick (The Black Beast) Lewis he has entered into the conversation of the title picture in the Heavyweight division. With Ngannou recovering from knee surgery the promotion will undoubtably hold an interim champion fight and Blaydes will probably be in the contest. His opponent for now remains a mystery but there will be a lot of speculation and the boys give out the names of the possible combatants. This was another fun card that was entertaining to watch and also a pleasure to breakdown with Stephane(Great Capo) Cappellini. The guys are back with episode 24 to discuss last weeks Fight Night. Including The Korean Zombie returning to the win column over Dan Ige, Matt "The Immortal" Brown with the vicious KO and Chito Vera revenging an old loss. Next they preview and make picks for the upcoming Gane v Volkov card. A quick shout-out to Anderson "The Spider" Silva for his successful return to the Boxing ring. They wrap up the conversation by discussing the current state of the NBA playoffs, most importantly the Brookly Nets being eliminated. Might seem crazy to you, but for us.... It's just the SameShtDifferentDay The Podcast!
Matt and Jim catch up with two of their favorite fighters before they enter the Octagon this Saturday at UFC on ESPN: The Korean Zombie vs. Ige. The guys also break down the fights, make their picks, share fashion tips (well, Jim makes fun of Matt's fashion) and tease their upcoming reunion! First, Jim and Matt are joined by Marlon Vera from his very cold Las Vegas hotel room. "Chito" shares why he's so excited to hunt for his own elk meat, how his father used to mess with him on their family farm, and how he is motivated to defeat Davey Grant at UFC on ESPN: The Korean Zombie vs. Ige this Saturday, after losing their first bout back in 2016. Then, Matt Brown calls in ahead of his fight against Dhiego Lima this Saturday. He discusses how challenging it is to be a coach to prospective UFC fighters, reminisces about his mentality heading into opposing gyms (including Matt's back in the day), and why his past accolades mean little to him today. Finally, Jim and Matt close the show by revealing their plans to appear on UFC's Watch Party for UFC 264, headlined by the trilogy match between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor. They also make picks for UFC on ESPN: The Korean Zombie vs. Ige See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
#UFC #NFL #NBA #MLK #BLM We had such a great weekend watching the UFC, NFL and the NBA that we couldn't wait until we could break them down! It was fun discussing one of the best main event performances ever from Max Holloway! He put on an incredible display of relentless punching combinations setting more records in a huge decisive victory. Calvin Kattar showed so much heart in surviving the onslaught of 750 punches in 25 minutes. Holloway put himself back into title contention with this masterful display of skill and volume. The co-main event pitted two veteran warriors that had been scheduled to fight on at least 2 occasions previously. Carlos"The Natural Born Killer" Condit was able to win a decision over Matt "The Immortal" Brown. It was a highly entertaining war that made everyone wish that the earlier matchups between the two had happened in the past. This was a very anticipated card after a three week hiatus through the holidays. It was a great night of fights from Abu Dhabi. Our discussion turned to the NFL as four great matchups turned 8 teams into 4 left standing to try and battle it out for the Conference Championships. The Tampa Bay Bucs and Tom Brady beat Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints 30 to 20. Tampa's defense was the difference as they forced four turnovers in the win. They will be heading to Green Bay for the NFC title game against the Packers who had a huge 32 to 18 win over the LA Rams. Aaron Rodgers was the star and catalyst as he threw 2 TDs and ran one in himself as he backed up an possible MVP regular season with a terrific playoff performance. The defending Super Bowl Champs the Kansas City Chiefs held off the Cleveland Browns 22 to 17 despite losing QB Patrick Mahomes to a possible concussion. The hero turned out to be 13 year veteran backup Chad Henne who had never appeared in a playoff game prior to Sunday. They advance to host the third consecutive AFC Championship game next Sunday. The Bills utilized a tough defense and great game from top receiver Stefon Diggs to dominate the Baltimore Ravens 17 to 3. Ravens QB and former MVP Lamar Jackson made a critical error throwing a 101 yard pick six interception. Lamar later on was then put into concussion protocol himself and had to miss the rest of the game. We finished off talking about the massive James Harden four team trade and the impact it has on the NBA. We finished off the night discussing Luca Doncic who has been amazing everyone and he continues to impress as he passed the Legend Michael Jordan in triple doubles over the weekend. Enjoy, Take care, Love yah, Bye for now!
