"Your response to adversity, negativity, rejection, are truly the moments in life that you grow...Growth comes when things are torn down and have to be rebuilt.” Ryan Clark It's Friday and your favorite trio is back for a special episode of The Pivot, to kick off the weekend with the fellas talking all the biggest headlines and storylines in sports this week and giving their perspective both personally and from their playing days as athletes in similar scenarios. Ryan, Fred, and Channing start things off with this week's episode of the first ever NFL in-season Hard Knocks, which gave an inside look to the famed AFC North division, the inner workings if each team and highlighted the true persona of figures like Coach Mike Tomlin, doing what he does best. Tomlin's leadership and ability to connect with his players has always been top-notch, but the world witnessed just how special his approach truly is. The biggest thing to shine through was how Tomlin handles bringing out the best in his players and inspiring positivity- which Ryan knows first hand from playing for Coach but the guys are impressed seeing 13-year veteran quarterback Russell Wilson interact with his new team. As Ryan says, Russell Wilson has "found his Russell Wilson" in Tomlin, which has solidified a new identity for the Steelers this season. But the guys admit their favorite AFC North quarterback isn't Wilson or the stellar play of Joe Burrow or 2x league MVP Lamar Jackson but its Browns star Jameis Winston. His outspoken faith and wholesome personality have made him fun to watch, a fan favorite and even more entertaining to hear, as we're all praying with him, to “deliver me from these pick-sixes!”) Moving to the AFC south, Fred talks about being at the Jacksonville vs Houston game this past Sunday and witnessing in person the devastating hit on Jags Quarterback Trevor Lawrence by Aziz Al-Shaair as Ryan and Channing have strong opinions on the hit but more so on the three-game suspension. With two former hard-hitters in Ryan and Channing, they both offer perspective on what it means to play hard but fair on defense while standing up for a player in the NFL brotherhood who's been mislabeled. Ryan goes in deeper on the league's reaction and says it's irresponsible to ostracize one of our own so harshly, especially when the demoralizing words come from a former player who used to be known for dirty hits. Wrapping up the sports storylines, the guys take time to reflect on family, especially in light of heartbreaking tragedies like Trent Williams and Charvarius Ward losing their children. With so much focus on the 49ers disappointing season and key injuries, Ryan turns attention to the true devastation felt in the San Francisco locker room. The guys open up and get real about how athletes—no matter how much money, fame, or accolades they have—are just like everyone else when it comes to protecting their loved ones. Channing says there is no such thing as real life superhero's…in an emotional conversation that reminds us of what really matters. The guys take a moment to share how as grown men, fathers and husbands, they acknowledge the lessons they still learn daily as Channing talks parenting teenagers, Fred talks emotional control and Ryan on how life continues to challenge us and forces us to grow through adversity. One of our more in-depth and layered episodes with sports, life and vulnerability at the forefront. As the year winds down and the holiday season underway, we thank you for rocking with us at The Pivot and don't forget to hit the subscribe button on YouTube as we hear 1Million subscribers!! On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran previews the Buffalo Bills vs Baltimore Ravens matchup coming up this Sunday night in Baltimore, with keys to the contest for Buffalo as well as a handful of bold predictions for the game and a final score. Patrick's still dealing with Covid but it's not stopping him from deep diving into this game including talking about why Baltimore's just 1-2 after their first three games and why this one is so important for them to get back on track. He discusses their elite run but poor pass defense so far this year with of course an emphasis on the Ravens offense led by Derrick Henry and two-time MVP Lamar Jackson. Meanwhile the Bills are undefeated and riding high. Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss and compare the firing of Steve Wilks to the Baltimore Ravens. Yesterday, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan fired now former defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. This was Steve Wilks' first year as the 49ers defensive coordinator. Was this fair? Was Wilks fired prematurely? The Baltimore Ravens did not fire their offensive coordinator Todd Monken after their diasppointing AFC Championship loss to the Kansas City Chiefs after being favored to win the game with the league MVP Lamar Jackson as quarterback. What does Kmac think?

The Ravens were a team plagued by terrible injury luck last year, which resulted in a last place finish in the AFC North for the first time in 14 seasons under Head Coach John Harbaugh. With the trading away of WR Marquise Brown and the ongoing health concerns in the backfield providing plenty of cause for concern…how will this squad and former league MVP Lamar Jackson bounce back in 2022?
Let's Analyze the Ravens offseason Moves
The Rams are now 11-4 heading into the last two weeks of the season, with the Baltimore Ravens and the always tricky San Francisco 49ers to finish up. They're coming off of a huge road win against the Minnesota Vikings that featured three interceptions by Matthew Stafford, another 100-yard performance from Sony Michel, a punt-return touchdown from Brandon Powell, Travin Howard's resurgence (in the absence of Ernest Jones), and the star-trio of Ramsey-Donald-Miller shined brightly. The month of December was a great month of football from the Rams, and what they were able to overcome (injuries/COVID) is what's considered to be most impressive. As they look ahead to January, their tallest tasks are right around the corner. And the first step is taking care of former-MVP Lamar Jackson in Baltimore this weekend. #UFC #NFL #NBA #MLK #BLM We had such a great weekend watching the UFC, NFL and the NBA that we couldn't wait until we could break them down! It was fun discussing one of the best main event performances ever from Max Holloway! He put on an incredible display of relentless punching combinations setting more records in a huge decisive victory. Calvin Kattar showed so much heart in surviving the onslaught of 750 punches in 25 minutes. Holloway put himself back into title contention with this masterful display of skill and volume. The co-main event pitted two veteran warriors that had been scheduled to fight on at least 2 occasions previously. Carlos"The Natural Born Killer" Condit was able to win a decision over Matt "The Immortal" Brown. It was a highly entertaining war that made everyone wish that the earlier matchups between the two had happened in the past. This was a very anticipated card after a three week hiatus through the holidays. It was a great night of fights from Abu Dhabi. Our discussion turned to the NFL as four great matchups turned 8 teams into 4 left standing to try and battle it out for the Conference Championships. The Tampa Bay Bucs and Tom Brady beat Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints 30 to 20. Tampa's defense was the difference as they forced four turnovers in the win. They will be heading to Green Bay for the NFC title game against the Packers who had a huge 32 to 18 win over the LA Rams. Aaron Rodgers was the star and catalyst as he threw 2 TDs and ran one in himself as he backed up an possible MVP regular season with a terrific playoff performance. The defending Super Bowl Champs the Kansas City Chiefs held off the Cleveland Browns 22 to 17 despite losing QB Patrick Mahomes to a possible concussion. The hero turned out to be 13 year veteran backup Chad Henne who had never appeared in a playoff game prior to Sunday. They advance to host the third consecutive AFC Championship game next Sunday. The Bills utilized a tough defense and great game from top receiver Stefon Diggs to dominate the Baltimore Ravens 17 to 3. Ravens QB and former MVP Lamar Jackson made a critical error throwing a 101 yard pick six interception. Lamar later on was then put into concussion protocol himself and had to miss the rest of the game. We finished off talking about the massive James Harden four team trade and the impact it has on the NBA. We finished off the night discussing Luca Doncic who has been amazing everyone and he continues to impress as he passed the Legend Michael Jordan in triple doubles over the weekend. Enjoy, Take care, Love yah, Bye for now!

On today's episode, Evan is joined by Kevin Oestricher of Locked On Ravens to preview arguably the biggest matchup on the NFL slate this weekend. Who will come out on top between Indianapolis and Baltimore?Starting off with the Ravens, how big are the losses of Ronnie Stanley and Marlon Humphrey? Stanley's injury is long-term, while Humphrey's COVID-19 case will sideline him only this week against Indy. Meanwhile, what's up with MVP Lamar Jackson? Wrapping it all up, we go over rookie running back J.K. Dobbins, Yannick Ngakoue, and how truly unique the Ravens' offense is.Pivoting over to Indy, Philip Rivers has looked like the 2018 version over the last two games. Will that continue against Baltimore's blitz-heavy scheme? As the running game struggles continue, a lot will be on Rivers' plate unless a breakout happens between Jonathan Taylor and Jordan Wilkins. How has the defense looked for the Colts? DeForest Buckner and Darius Leonard are the game changers, but a lot of young talent is ascending simultaneously.Closing it all out, Evan and Kevin provide their predictions for an entertaining Sunday matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Steelers' big win in Baltimore has celebrating players rapping along to what's now being billed as the 7-0 team's official song: ‘Take Over Your Trap' by the late Bankroll Fresh. The lyrics that are printable do show why the song has struck a chord with the Steelers. This, after the team walked into the Big Crabcake on a rainy, cold Un-Charm City Sunday and proceeded to pick off MVP Lamar Jackson and company for an absolutely rapturous and rap-worthy 28-24 win. Whatever trap the Ravens thought they sprung on the Steelers was undone when Pittsburgh intercepted Jackson, not once, but twice – both leading to touchdowns. Now, all of Steelers Nation is rapping about that glorious but ugly win. I give you all the best takes, including Pittsburgh's reaction to newest Steeler, linebacker Avery Williamson, in this rapping and rolling edition of the Steelers Update podcast. The bottom line for this special Steelers team is this: Set any trap you wish – this black and gold crew has a better one of its own. And the bait might just lead to a Super Bowl. Pittsburgh forced 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson into 2 interceptions and Baltimore failed to come up with another marquee win, so can they win the big one with this team? Russell Wilson got back on track with his MVP campaign, beating down the 49ers 37-27 but the defense still has question. Plus, the Bears and Dolphins get critical wins. Big Ben Roethlisberger's trio of troubling interceptions vs. the Titans ended up costing the Steelers points on long drives – but luckily not the too-close-for-comfort 27-24 contest. The lingering effect of those picks could be the proof that Big Ben isn't the same gun-slinging Steelers quarterback of old. The new Ben isn't the same as the old Ben. The difference could be big, as in the absence of his once signature long-ball. Not only has been rare this season – it's been off on a growing number of the few occasions Roethlisberger lets it rip. Bottom Line for Big Ben vs. the Titans: Roethlisbeger threw two passes longer than 20 yards. Both were intercepted. Now comes the rested, rival Ravens and MVP Lamar Jackson. Ben and the Steelers just may need the long-ball to earn a win in Charm City. The question is – can 38-year-old Roethlisberger and his surgically repaired throwing arm deliver when it counts? I tackle this looming concern – plus all the Ravens-Steelers storylines – in this edition of the Steelers Update Podcast from PennLive. So listen up, Steelers fans!
