But this has been all but ignored by the corporate media. Why? Victor Davis Hanson says the fight does not align with their narrative of America as a place of “salad bowl tribal identification” instead of being a melting pot. He breaks down the disturbing implications of the fight and reaction on today's episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.” “ It was on Fox News and New York Post, etc., but not in the legacy media. It was almost as if they were saying, ‘This is a taboo subject.' But if you go back, what they did cover, the media, they covered the Duke lacrosse incident. That was completely a hoax. There was no black stripper who was attacked by fraternity brothers. It was made up. The Covington kids. That was made up. … This wasn't made up. This was real. “ Once a society goes down this pathway of racial essentialism or tribalism, and you send the message that you as an individual are not responsible for your own behavior, but you're part of a victimized collective, and then you have repertory or justification rights to commit a crime and without the expectation of punishment, the result is civilizational declining chaos. And so, we need to remedy this and to show people that if they wanna stomp on some helpless victim on the ground, they're gonna pay a high price.”

On today's episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Dragon's Den star and investor Brett Wilson makes a bold prediction: former Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault won't survive the year. Brett joins Candice to talk about how the Liberals are trying to reinvent themselves under Mark Carney — but can't seem to shake the Trudeau-era dogma that made them unappealing to Canadians in the first place. Also, Premier Danielle Smith's Alberta Next town halls are officially underway. Her panel is touring the province over the next two months, asking Albertans six big questions — including whether Alberta should withdraw from the Canada Pension Plan, take over immigration, or even lead a push to amend the Constitution. Candice and Brett break down the first two stops in Red Deer and Sherwood Park, where hundreds of attendees showed up to demand more autonomy — and in some cases, outright separation. One Red Deer resident told the panel: “There is one question, and one question only, that needs to be on a referendum: 'Do you support Alberta exiting Canadian confederation?'” Next, they discuss the Premiers meetings in Muskoka, Ontario, and Prime Minister Mark Carney's emergency meetings to discuss President Trump's tariffs. Finally, they discuss the longest ballot initiative and how nearly 200 candidates will be running in the upcoming by-election where Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre will run to regain a seat in the House of Commons after losing his Ottawa-area riding in the recent general election. EASY LISTENING DEP'T.: “Zoran Mamdani,” the Times writes, “is unleashing a full-scale charm offensive of private meetings, phone calls, and public promises aimed at wooing top party leaders, donors, and activists,” and runs through a list of the meetings that he's taken with influence groups and elected officials. But underneath that, it's a story about the lack of sophistication on the side that considers itself more sophisticated. “In his meetings,” the Times writes, “Mr. Mamdani has surprised some Democrats with his affability and ability to listen to their concerns, perhaps hinting at his willingness to make some concessions.” If you're expressing surprise in July of 2025, that Zoran Mamdani is friendly and a good listener, what you're saying is that your understanding of New York City politics lags considerably behind that of the 573,000 people who voted for him. EASY LISTENING DEP'T.: “Today, the "Times writes, "while most Americans do not support political violence, a growing share have said in surveys that they view rival partisans as a threat to the country or even as inhuman. Mr. Trump,” the Times continues, “has had a hand in that. Since his 2016 candidacy, he has signaled at least his tacit approval of violence against his political opponents. He encouraged attendees at his rallies to ‘knock the hell' out of protesters, praised a lawmaker who body slammed a reporter, and defended the rioters on January 6th, 2021, who clamored to hang Mike Pence. One of his first acts in his second term as president was to pardon those rioters.” Yeah, I think the approval of violence is considerably more than tacit there. Media coverage might be the missing ingredient in your marketing strategy, and it's more accessible than you think. Mickey Kennedy, founder of eReleases with 26 years of experience helping entrepreneurs get media attention, breaks down the crucial difference between press release syndication and valuable earned media coverage. The startling reality? Only 3% of press releases actually generate meaningful media coverage. Mickey reveals exactly what separates successful pitches from the forgettable ones, emphasizing that journalists aren't looking for product features—they're searching for compelling stories they can share with their audiences. Whether you're launching a product, hosting an event, or celebrating a business milestone, your pitch needs storytelling elements that create emotional connection. Most entrepreneurs make the critical mistake of crafting me-centered pitches without providing journalists the building blocks for an engaging narrative. Mickey explains how to transform your announcements by including customer use cases, data points that establish stakes, and powerful quotes that journalists will want to include verbatim. He also reveals why taking a thoughtful contrarian position can sometimes be your ticket to consistent media coverage when everyone else is saying the same thing. For those intimidated by media outreach, Mickey offers practical, approachable advice on building relationships with local journalists and timing your pitches for maximum impact. His strategies work for businesses at any stage—from Etsy sellers to established brands—proving that media coverage isn't about fancy websites or professional photography, but about having something genuinely interesting to share.Ready to join the 3% of businesses whose press releases actually get picked up? Executive Order on Gain of Function Research: President Trump issued an executive order restricting federal funding for gain of function research, which involves experimenting with viruses and pathogens that could potentially trigger a pandemic. The order aims to prevent US tax dollars from funding such research in countries like China and Iran, and strengthens oversight mechanisms to ensure biomedical research is conducted safely. The controversy around gain of function research became prominent during the COVID-19 pandemic, with theories suggesting the virus might have originated from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Self-Deportation Program: The Trump administration introduced a program offering $1,000 and travel assistance to undocumented immigrants who voluntarily leave the United States. This initiative aims to save government resources, as deporting an undocumented immigrant costs approximately $17,000. The program uses the CBP home app for migrants to register and self-deport, with the stipend paid once their departure is confirmed. Trade Negotiations: We mention ongoing trade negotiations between the US and Canada, following Canada's federal elections. President Trump is also engaging in trade talks with China, aiming to address tariffs and improve trade relations. Media Coverage and Public Reaction: We highlight media reactions to Trump's policies, noting that pro-immigration advocates are critical of the self-deportation program. It also mentions the media's struggle to criticize the executive order on gain of function research due to its perceived benefits. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now.
