Patreon.com/RememberTheGame For the first time in 238 episodes, we're talking about the Sega Master System. Admittedly, I've never played one before, and even in this case, I bought a modern port of one of its games. But it's time to show the SMS some love, and I gotta say, if Wonder Boy In Monster Land is any indication of what the Master System could do, I might have to look up some more of its classics down the road. If you've never played it, Wonder Boy is a mix of Adventure Island and Zelda II, for lack of a better combo. You're traveling from area to area, buying equipment and spells and talking to townspeople looking for tips on where to go, but while you're doing that, a timer is ticking away and taking your health with it. It's tough as balls, I couldn't finish it, but I also couldn't stop playing it. I have a thing for tour retro games, and Wonder Boy scratched me right where I itched. This episode is sponsored by long-time supporter and friend of the show, Mr. McG. He swings by to explain why he has so much love for the Boy of Wonder, and then my buddy Chris, a card-carrying Sega kid, gave me a call and helped me understand why Wonder Boy was so beloved back in the day. And before we die over and over, I slap together another edition of the 'Remember The Game? Infamous Intro'! This week, someone asks if I have any regrets about taking RTG and turning it from a hobby into a business. Why do I prefer digital games over physical? And are there any games I've kept playing, despite not loving the combat, just because the story was so good?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 Master System Mainstays: Marble Madness, Golden Axe Warrior and Alex Kidd in Miracle World.
This week on the Classicl337 podcast the two return after almost a year off! Naturally they go over some things that have happened over the passed year along with going some new releases and news which is only about the amazing Nintendo Direct that happened most recently. Kevin in the meantime has got a Nintendo 64 and completed Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time he got a Sega Master and finally completed Wonderboy, completed Death Stranding and not sure if he should recommend it or not , completed Bayonetta 3 and Kirby and the Forgotten Land and is currently playing Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core Reunion for the Nintendo Switch. Scotts been busy with his Steam Deck and playing Vampire Survivors – is angry at Rocket League became a potato in Portal 1 and 2. On the latest episode of The Fighter vs. The Writer, Matt Brown and Damon Martin react to the latest news in MMA including Conor McGregor's outburst aimed at Anthony Smith over his current status with USADA. As of now, McGregor has been completely removed from the UFC's anti-doping program, which means he'll need to undergo six months of testing before he's allowed to return again. That earned him some criticism from Smith but in response McGregor lashed out at the one-time UFC title challenger. But did Smith get it right where McGregor is concerned or is the Irish superstar actually doing anything wrong by dropping out of the testing pool while he's not fighting? Brown will give his take after he personally dropped out of the USADA testing pool himself a few years ago before making his return to action. Also on the show, we'll discuss Kayla Harrison's shocking loss to Larissa Pacheco and where she goes from here with two fights remaining on her current contract with the PFL. Did Harrison's value plummet with that loss or does she remain a top target for free agency once she able to test the market again? Plus, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson joins the show to preview his upcoming fight against Kevin Holland and his desire to remind the world that he's still one of the best welterweights in the sport despite losing his last two fights. Also don't miss Brown telling a story about his interaction with “Wonderboy” when they road in an ambulance together after their fight in 2012. Matt and Jim are joined by UFC welterweight contender Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson on today's episode of UFC Unfiltered! Thompson begins the show with a story on how his “Wonderboy” nickname sparked a friendship with actor and musician Jack Black before going into depth about his renowned karate style and the benefits it provides to him and other fighters inside the cage. After sharing his thoughts on headlining a UFC Fight Night this December against Kevin Holland, Wonderboy uses his kickboxing expertise to predict the middleweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira at UFC 281. As Wonderboy explains what to expect from the two middleweights, Matt reiterates why he thinks Adesanya won't be phased by his rival despite failing to beat Pereira in both of their kickboxing fights they had against each other. The guys finish the show talking Halloween costumes and spooky stories before ultimately diving into their favorite shows they're currently watching.
