I've forgotten more than most people in the fitness field ever will know. And I know this because while doing private Coaching sessions, we will get into some great conversations where I recall secrets that someone like Louie Simmons or JB have shared with me. In today's episode, I am going to go over some of those insider secrets such as: -> How much stress your nervous system can handle and how a workout serves two sides of the stress equation -> Why the strongest guys in the world never do a maximum bench press or squat or deadlift two weeks in a row, however, they do perform a maximum lift every week. Hmmm… -> Why training one limb at a time is often more beneficial, especially when dealing with an injured side. -> How to recover from a muscle pull in record time and what to look out for in the future in terms of it happening again. Hint, rest is not the answer. -> Why using a fat grip can dramatically increase your strength… -> Why the core is usually the limiting factor when it comes to doing full range of motion squats.. -> One BIG secret that I figured out that work over 80% of the time when it comes to chronic elbow tendonitis I am sure you'll pick up a bunch of other secrets in this episode too, and if you like it, please like it for me and share it.

Proverbs 23:7 as a man thinketh in his heart For as he thinks within himself, so he is. He says to you, “Eat and drink!” But his heart is not with you. THE MESSAGE Don't accept a meal from a tightwad; don't expect anything special. He'll be as stingy with you as he is with himself; he'll say, “Eat! Drink!” but won't mean a word of it. His miserly serving will turn your stomach when you realize the meal's a sham. HB shaw-ar Thinketh - as he estimates and calculates his future (IN DOING SO) he opens the gate to it. BUT THE CONTEXT… **WARNING: WHO YOU ARE AROUND WILL AFFECT YOUR VISION, your life, your outcome, your sowing and reaping. YOU LACK THE LIFE YOU WANT BECAUSE YOU ARE AROUND PEOPLE WHO LACK THE LIFE YOU WANT. I've said this a 1000 times… the fastest track to your goals is to hang with other people who have already achieved them. Louie Simmons the greatest strength coach in the world used to say it like this. If you train with normal people you get normal results… but if you train with crazy people, well… you get crazy results. Its a good thing to every 6 months do a friend inventory and see who you need to cut out… move away from, quit spending time with them etc… Garth Heckman

Garth Heckman The David Alliance BAM - watch them every Tuesday night on our Facebook page. Who said? Who cares? And why would you? Life can grind you down thru well meaning know it alls. Who are these people… they are the experts, the pros, the intelligent people. Most of these people are smart or successful by accident or luck. There are lots of smart people who never worked for it, as well as successful, and rich. Ignore these people. What if The disciples listened to the experts, the crowds, the teachers of the law, the pharisees and sadducees…. Even Jesus own family… the disciples would have turned and run. But practically speaking when you do a deep dive into success be it in chess, business, entrepreneurship, relationships, exercise… whatever it is. These people were all told not to do it. I heard Robert Kyisoki once say that 99% of all inventions would have never come to be if people had listened to the experts… the pro's, the intelligent. I have to agree. I want to hear Gods voice more. I want to heal more people. I want to make a billion dollars. I want to win 1 million people to Christ. I want to start a media company. I want to employ my sons. I want to build my wife's dream house. I want to raise people from the dead. I want to start a revival…. I want to write a book for men that changes our country and is a best seller. These are truly things I am believing for… but guess what the experts are saying? Dude, you don't have enough time, you are not smart enough, it will never happen… I love what Louie Simmons said “if you train with the lame you will end up walking with a limp”. If you allow the experts to plan your future… it will be hell on earth. If you are willing to just trust God and go for it… you will be surprised at what grows in your life.

Matt talks to Dave Tate about building EliteFTS. What were the struggles, successes, and untold stories that created EliteFTS? Dave Tate & EliteFTS had a huge impact on Matt Reynolds & Barbell Logic, whether it be from introducing him to the Russian programming literature, to programming tips and principles, to recommending the e-Myth. This podcast is brought to you by TurnKey Coach. Enhance your coaching effectiveness and efficiency with TurnKey Coach. You can learn more by going HERE. It's leaner and tighter than our other offerings (and cheaper). Check out the Barbell Logic podcast landing page. Building EliteFTS - Before EliteFTS Both Dave's dad and grandfather were business owners, who inculcated and demonstrated the value of hard work. Dave helped his dad as a teenager, and his dad stressed the importance of quality products (which Dave has stressed with EliteFTS' equipment). As a teenager, Dave grew sick and tired of being "beat all the time," so he trained harder and worked harder and started to see benefits. His wrestling coach saw him running stairs one day and told him that if he worked harder than everyone else, he wouldn't be beat. This, paired with the benefits of strength, started to help him build confidence. Dave also struggled in college, but ultimately decided to return, work hard, and brought up his GPA. He was deciding whether to move to Columbus or Cleveland and ultimately decided to move to Columbus (in part) because of a girlfriend, which meant that Dave would train with Louie Simmons at Westside Barbell. Dave had different jobs, including personal training, bouncing, and gym management, and describes in his story at a couple points where he did not want to continue on the track he found himself, so he made a change. Helping Louie sell equipment and deal with customer service, paired with creating a Q&A website, ultimately created EliteFTS. Building EliteFTS Elite FTS began in the late 1990s, with the internet early and shipping times for gym equipment being 16 weeks. He learned, from eMyth, that he needed to free up time to spend more time as manager and then owner of the business. Dave and Matt talk about the importance of adversity and how it has refined them both. This aligns with Matt's voluntary hardship principle. Ultimately, as a business owner, coach, and human, you will face adversity. Prepare yourself by doing so voluntarily so that when the involuntary challenges come, you can handle them better and grow from them as well. Enjoy Dave and Matt talking about building EliteFTS. In this episode, Jared talks about how to track training with minimal equipment, and more about the squat ratios and dumbbell jumps.
The David Alliance TDAgiantslayer@Gmail.com Aging is the aggressive pursuit of comfort. Gary Brecka Think of that statement. We choose comfort over health. I think that ties directly into where many Christians are at with their lives. They choose poverty over pushing in to sowing and reaping and claiming Gods word. They choose sickness over fighting with Gods word and coming against the enemy to violently take a hold of their healing. They choose stagnant marriages over praying Gods word over their marriages for years to make it happen. Louie Simmons… what a dude. He is the one who made the conjugate system famous in strength training… in fact I and my son are going to another one of his workshops in Columbus Ohio in a couple days. He passed away last year, but he was a master at making people their strongest… he used the example of the wolf pack. Wolves are always fighting for their place in the pack… fighting to be 4 if they are 5, fighting to be 2 if they are 3 etc… But once a wolf quits fighting it gets kicked out of the pack and can never get back in. This is why I push hard to stay strong… it takes a lot, a lot of time, effort etc… and the older I get the more time it takes… but I know once I quit pushing its over… I will just be like every other dude who is weak and fluffy… and even if I keep going to the gym I will be the guy who just goes from machine to machine with nothing really to show for it… But I digress… I am a fan of John G Lake. I have almost all of his sermons and most books that he has written or that have been written on him. If I was to pursue one mans faith… let me clarify- I am not pursuing anyone other than Christ… but if I was, It would be John Lakes life and faith. He still doesn't hold a candle to Jesus, but he was an amazing man. Power authority, miracles, supernatural in all ways… in the Book “his life his sermons his boldness of faith” he writes something that I have underlined and highlighted at least 7 times that I can tell from my handwriting. I have read this book numerous times and it may be my favorite quote from his writings… this is what he says “The reason people become sick is the same reason that they become sinful. they surrender to the suggestion of the thing that is evil, and it takes possession of the heart. Sickness is just the same. there is no difference. The suggestion of oppression is presented, and becoming frightened, the disease secures a foothold. “in the Name of Jesus Christ I refuse to have this thing”. It seems like Louie Simmons and John G Lake think alike. If you quit fighting if you surrender to the pull of sickness, sin, weakness, lust… whatever you patronize and give an inch to will take a mile. My quote at the beginning - Gary Brecka says Aging is the aggressive pursuit of comfort. Gary Brecka I only disagree slightly in that we don't have to aggressively pursue it… it can simply sneak in the door and in time it will take over song of songs 2:15 it is the little foxes that spoil the vine… literally kill your crop, your harvest. The foxes didn't keep you from planting… they didn't keep you from watering, fertilizing or weeding… they kept you from harvesting… You do all the work and then this little thought comes in and steals the result. You go to church, you read your bible, you pray, you fast, you make sacrifices and you step out in faith… but then you let one little thought come in… well everyone sins… everyone gets sick… not every prayer is answered… not everyone is passionately intimate with Jesus… not everyone has the Holy Spirit speak to them with precise clarity…. After all that… you gonna let the little fox steal your lunch? I hope not. Doubt your doubts before you doubt your God.

In this Episode, Jared goes over how box squats improve sprint performance, but he hates box squats because people/strength coaches do not understand. They are thought based not result based. Jared has tracked 40 yard sprint times over 12 years on a montly basis and has seen more 40 yard dash times than anyone on the planet. Sports are played in short distances and coaches need to change their focus and think outside the box to truly understand the game.
