Staying In The Game - Melissa Stephens (12-18-2022 AM) by Sundown Church
Welcome to HOOVERING, the podcast about eating. Host, Jessica Fostekew (Guilty Feminist, Motherland) has a frank conversation with an interesting person about gobbling; guzzling; nibbling; scoffing; devouring and wolfing all up… or if you will, hoovering.I'm hoovering from the Edinburgh Fringe in this episode where I'm talking to a brilliant, wise, kind, innovative American comedian who I'd never normally have access to - it's the excellent Melissa Stephens. She came to my flat for lunch where I braved knocking up a haggis salad. Yes you read that right. Why not?Everything written below in CAPITALS is a link to the relevant webpage. My guest today helps leaders, entrepreneurs, and business owners break through to unbridled business growth by leading life from their vision. She does this by helping them reignite their soul purpose so they can experience greater freedom, satisfaction and balance in their lives. She is an iPEC certified professional coach and an Energy Leadership master practitioner as well as a Leadership Dynamics and Wellbeing specialist. For a long time, she made — as she puts it — “personal sacrifices in the wake of my career”.She struggled to balance work and life priorities, eventually finding herself on the verge of burnout. For too long she kept saying “yes” to get ahead in her career, which caused her to work working longer days while at the same time saying “no” to time for herself and enjoying life. She was left feeling angry, frustrated, overwhelmed, and exhausted. That's when she started thinking this was not how she wanted to live life. She reached out to supporters, teachers, mentors and coaches. All of whom helped her, held her accountable as she slowly made her way back to living in the present moment; dancing to the beat of her own drum instead of someone else's.-----You can find more extensive notes (including links to books, music and movies mentioned) on the episode page on the Dare Greatly Coaching website

On this episode of BEHIND THE LENS, we're welcoming another year of Slamdance Film Festival as we take a look at FINDING THE A**HOLE, an entertaining series of short films from writer/director/actor MELISSA STEPHENS which premieres at Slamdance on January 25, with the first three series chapters then released into the universe the same night. Our special live guest, take a listen as we dig deep with Melissa talking about the conception and development of FINDING THE A**HOLE, financing, her growth as a director as she moves through each of the first three short film chapters, casting and collaboration, and more. But before Melissa joins us, we're talking about ASHES IN THE SNOW starring Bel Powley. Adapted from the acclaimed novel "Between Shades of Gray" by RUTA SEPETYS, take a listen to our exclusive prerecorded conversation with Ruta, as she talks in-depth about her journey to write the book and her research and personal connection to the story of 15-year old Lina and her imprisonment in a labor camp under the Stalin regime in 1941. One of the few authors who has raved about an adaptation for the big screen of their fiction or non-fiction work, you'll hear Ruta's excitement as she talks about collaborating with screenwriter Ben Jones and director Marius Markevicius. But perhaps the most moving aspect of our conversation with Ruta are her experiences and the knowledge she gained from Lithuanian survivors of the Baltic genocide and their descendants. A powerful conversation about an oft-overlooked chapter in world history and the creative process in bringing it to light. http://behindthelensonline.net http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com
