OG co-host Paul Kent rejoins Dave Hamilton to talk about how The Houserockers have stayed booked into their 27th year, and what your band can steal from their playbook. You’ll dig into the social media reality of 2026 (Reels are currently king), why your mailing list is the asset you actually own, and how to grow to 10,000 followers without losing your soul. Paul makes the case that if you want gigs, your band has to be a business, which means alignment on mission, passion, and musical style with the partners or employees standing next to you on stage. There’s nothing wrong with playing for fun, but go in eyes wide open about what you’re chasing. From there you’ll dive into the value of scarcity, Kevin Kelly’s thousand true fans, and why mixing up your setlists is one way to keep audiences coming back. Paul breaks down the current Houserockers formula (civic concert series, experiential marketing, and ticketed off-season events) and why aging-up audiences mean you have to market harder and talk to fans like Springsteen does: a lifetime conversation, all with individuals. You’ll also get the real talk on finding bandmates (Craigslist included), the Gig Gab bookable-band checklist, and Paul’s (joking?) pitch for two new show segments. Leadership doesn't usually derail all at once—it gets hijacked slowly by subtle internal forces like comparison, self-doubt, and misplaced definitions of success. In this episode, Whitney Putnam sits down with David Ashcraft to unpack the internal and external "hijacks" that pull leaders off course. They explore how even confident leaders can fall into comparison traps, how self-doubt often disguises itself in different ways, and why defining success based on others' metrics leads to frustration. This conversation brings leaders back to what matters most: clarifying personal priorities, choosing the right voices to listen to, and aligning success with purpose rather than perception. If you've ever questioned your place, your progress, or your impact, this episode offers a grounded way to refocus and move forward with clarity and intention.

Send us a textWhen you hear the word success, what do you think of?Most people think of results. Wins. Outcomes. Money. Titles. Validation.Very few people think of peace of mind.In this episode, I challenge that definition—and honestly, I challenge myself. Because tying success to results is one of the fastest ways to lose control, stay unsettled, and carry unnecessary weight from the past. Here's the reframe: Success isn't a result. Success is peace of mind.I break down the three disruptors that quietly steal that peace—the past, your current positioning, and your phobias (fear)—and why obsessing over outcomes keeps you stuck. You'll hear why you can do everything “right” and still lose… or do everything “wrong” and still win… and why that alone proves results can't be the scorecard. This episode is about effort over outcomes, becoming over arriving, and learning how to end the day with self-satisfaction—knowing you made the effort, regardless of how it turned out.If you've been restless, unsettled, or measuring yourself by wins and losses alone, this is a reset.Success is peace of mind. The question is: do you have it?Support the show

After losing her role in a very public way and later facing a brain tumor diagnosis, Becca was forced to rethink how she defined achievement, identity, and fulfillment. We explore how to recognize when you're living someone else's definition of success, why time matters more than titles, and how fear (especially around money) keeps people stuck longer than they need to be. Becca also shares how to change direction without waiting for a crisis, and what self-reinvention can look like when you want alignment, not chaos. This conversation is for entrepreneurs, creators, and professionals who have checked all the boxes but still feel restless, unfulfilled, or ready for something more honest.

It's Elul, a time to prepare for the Yamim Noraim with the theme of Defining Success. When we take stock of our lives with a cheshbon hanefesh, we're really asking: Where am I now—and where should I be?That's the core question of this series: how to define success as a Ben Torah in the workplace. Many of our rabbeim push us toward ambitious goals in learning, but how do we balance those ideals with the blessed responsibilities of work, family, and community? This week's guest is Rav Simi Lerner. Rav Simi is an educator in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, a passionate Hirschian thinker, and—on the side—an electrician in Beit Shemesh. We discuss how Rav Hirsch's idea of Torah im Derech Eretz and other foundational principles can help us shape a grounded, realistic, and meaningful definition of success.

It's Elul, and we're focusing on Defining Success as Bnei Torah in the workplace. What does real success look like? Is it possible to set goals that are both ambitious and compassionate? This week, we sit down with Rav Shimon Isaacson, Rosh Yeshiva of Mevaseret. Before entering the world of Torah and chinuch, Rav Isaacson worked in Big Law in New York City. Many assume he left that life to escape its spiritual emptiness — but the truth is much more surprising.SummaryIn this episode, I sat down with Rav Shimon Isaacson, Rosh Yeshiva of Mevaseret, to trace his remarkable journey from Big Law associate to respected mechanech and community leader in Israel. Rav Isaacson shares how his wife's passion for Aliyah shaped their family's path, how he balanced intense Torah learning with a demanding legal career, and how an unusual arrangement of “lawyer in the summer, learner in the year” gave him the springboard into full-time chinuch. The conversation dives into big life questions: What makes for a successful decision-making process? How can a Ben Torah thrive in the workforce? What does passion in Avodas Hashem look like? Rav Isaacson also reflects on 30 years of Aliyah, the role of rebbeim as life guides, the value of combining Torah greatness with real-world experience, and how yeshiva can prepare talmidim for decades of growth ahead.

The concept of success is often misaligned with societal expectations and materialistic achievements. Throughout our dialogue, we delve into the nuances of what it truly means to lead a fulfilling life, emphasizing that success transcends mere paychecks or prestigious titles. Our discussion highlights the importance of self-definition in the pursuit of happiness, urging listeners to eschew conventional metrics of success that may lead to discontent. We share personal anecdotes of realizing that true fulfillment arises from aligning one's life with their authentic values rather than societal norms. The conversation serves as a clarion call for individuals to carve their own paths and construct a personal definition of success that resonates with their unique experiences and aspirations, thereby cultivating a life imbued with meaning and satisfaction.Takeaways: Success is not defined by societal standards, but rather by personal fulfillment and happiness. One must avoid the peril of pursuing success that is misaligned with one's true values and desires. It is imperative to continually redefine success throughout different seasons of life, embracing personal growth and change. The journey to success involves creating a personal definition that resonates with one's unique path and experiences. I met Captain Ben Harrow at a charity event where he and his family were supporting his wife Gina. After he introduced her and the event concluded, I rushed up to him to thank him for his service and chat for a moment. After a brief conversation we both invited each other to be a guest on our separate podcasts. Getting to know Ben and his journey was incredibly inspiring. From high school and collegiate athlete which led to West Point, Ben always put forth the effort and made it a point to be constantly working on and being the best version of himself. After multiple deployments over seas, there was a tragic moment where he stepped on and IED and lost both his legs, several fingers and scarred his forearm. When presented with very limiting beliefs by doctors and therapists, Ben made it a point to realize that if anything was going to get better, it was up to him to make it happen. The work was arduous and challenging but Ben continued in the face of adversity realizing progress is better than nothing. In this episode, we dive into his unshakeable work ethic and belief in anything is possible. He is a husband, father and leader of the community with his work with the Yellow Ribbon Fund, his newly launched Team Harrow Podcast and president of Pam Jets. While he is super active and busy most days one of his favorite things is watching old re-runs of the Golden Girls with his wife Gina when they have time. If you are struggling or have questions for one of the most resilient men that I have ever met please don't hesitate to to reach out to Ben on Instagram @teamharrow or @bharrow37. We hope you enjoy the show!
