Trump Files Lawsuit Against Michigan Secretary of State to Keep his Name on Ballot

Real News Now Podcast

A lawsuit set into motion this Monday by previous commander-in-chief, Donald Trump, is directed at Michigan's Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson, who is a Democrat. The purpose of the lawsuit is to avert any potential attempt to withhold his name from Michigan's cast of potential 2024 elections candidates. This demand was put forward in the Michigan Court of Claims, with Trump's legal assistants requesting for a court injunction. Such action would prohibit Benson from striking off Trump's name from the roster and to establish the fact that Benson does not have the legal capability to determine his eligibility. The state of Michigan is not an isolated occurrence. Across a multitude of states, lawsuits have been put into play with the main objective of barring Trump from potential candidacy, citing Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. According to this constitutional clause, individuals who have previously committed to support the Constitution but subsequently took part in an 'insurrection' can be disqualified from assuming public office.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We've been counting down the weeks until the November election - we're at three now, if you're counting with us. And with everything happening in the world right now, it can be hard to feel motivated about an election. But local wins and little victories are the best antidote to the sadness and helplessness we might feel when we're scrolling through our news feed. So this week we are so excited to talk to Jocelyn Benson, Michigan's Secretary of State and all-around amazing woman. She's a voting rights expert and has expanded access to voting across her state, overseeing the most secure and highest-turnout election in Michigan's history. Jocelyn also shares what she learned in her earlier work researching white supremacist organizations and chats about what a political race and a marathon have in common. It was a pleasure and an honor to have Secretary Benson on the pod. Finally, Amanda, Rachel and Jasmine raise a glass to parents, a great community weekend, and Polish democracy in this episode's “Toast to Joy.”Speaking of Michigan, next week we'll be joined by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer to learn how we as voters can win back our rights. And it's not too late to RSVP for our October 19th evening with best-selling author Angie Thomas where you can learn about defeating book bans at the ballot box. One of my favorite historians and political philosophers today is Victor Davis Hanson. Ironically, after ending yesterday's show with an off-the-cuff list of all the Left has destroyed in the last 20 years, I stumbled across his latest piece. Entitled, “What the Left did to our country,” it's a stunning and accurate reminder of all that's happened since the first election of the sainted one -- Barack Hussein Obama.  It's a bleak reminder that the un-elected bureaucrats in our nation are doing all they can to burn down our Constitutions and radicalize all of our institutions before the 2024 election. Here's another irony. More Americans are waking up and seeing it, which is making the Left work even faster and harder to burn our country to the ground. They know they are running out of time and runway and need to push as much of their agenda forward in hopes they will own everything and never have to worry about another election. They want to be the permanent ruling class over the rest of us. As I predicted a few weeks back, a group in Colorado has filed a lawsuit to remove Donald Trump's name from the 2024 ballot on the basis he violated the 14th Amendment. The Democrat Party wants Trump to be the GOP nominee and then they plan to remove his name, depriving the citizens of this country of the right to vote for whom they want to be the next president. Want to know how dumb these un-elected bureaucrats are? Illegals crossing into our country are being paid $2,200 per family for cost of living expense. People who are not even paying taxes are getting $26,400 a year after breaking into our country. But, it gets even better than that. These illegal families have realized they can double-dip and game the system. Now, they are having one parent say they are with one child, while the other parent says they are with the other child, so they BOTH get paid $2200! Before they even try to find any employment, they are making $52,800 a year off of us tax payers! Even mayor Eric Adams in NYC, who ran on the woke, virtue-signaling message of being a sanctuary city, cannot deal with it any longer. He is getting around 10,000 illegals a month and he just said, “this issue will destroy New York City.” It's amazing what happens when people who live in the world of make-believe are confronted with cold, harsh reality. On top of this, Joe Biden is canceling all of the pre-approved leases for drilling in Alaska and is no longer going to allow LNG to be transported by train. He is literally looking to drive the cost of gasoline through the roof and, by way of extension, the cost of natural gas – just before winter! These people are true nihilists who really seem intent to watch the world burn. We are learning more everyday about just how fraud ridden the 2020 election was. Arizona just had a massive court win for Kari Lake in that the law was not followed for verifying mail-in ballot signatures. Georgia's lawsuit against Fulton County is still moving forward after it was renewed thanks to the GA Supreme Court. And, Michigan's Secretary of State seems to have also been up to no good when it came to voter registrations and intentionally mislabeled packages. Finally, we end with a new installment of Deep Thoughts with VP Kamala Harris. I believe they are floating her out at this latest summit as a trial run for taking over for Joe Biden. The heat is getting to be too much and they have no choice but to send her instead. And, when they let her, she never fails to deliver a delicious piece of word salad. ARREST MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE FOR DISTRIBUTING A THREAT TO HARM PRESIDENT BIDEN - 9.6.23

Countdown with Keith Olbermann

SEASON 2 EPISODE 28: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:43) SPECIAL COMMENT: I call for the immediate arrest of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, representative of the 14th district of Georgia, for violating 18 US code 871 – “Threats against the President and Successors to the Presidency.” Greene has posted to social media video of a direct threat to harm or kill Joe Biden, made by a man who when asked about that threat of personal violence replied “I don't regret nothing I said. I (effing) mean it, bro." Greene's own ignorance of the federal code dealing with threats against the President is no defense. 18 U-S code 871 quite clearly states that the threat does NOT have to be first-hand. Greene does not have to have said it, she merely has to have distributed the threat. Though she helpfully began her distribution and promulgation of the threat against Biden's life with her own statement: “I agree with this man.” At some point we have to break Greene - and the fascist right's - dance along the cliff-edge of political violence. Just two weeks ago she rightly complained that violent threats against her had gotten a weak three-month sentence. Now, the threat she distributed should be met by her being charged, arrested, convicted, and sentenced to the maximum of five years. Because occasionally the Justice System works. "Enrique" Tarrio broke the January 6 record with a 22-year sentence (though take the odds and bet on Trump getting more). And let's hear it for my new hero, Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro, who was born in Cuba and who accused political ignoramus and stunter Tommy Tuberville of more than even endangering national security by holding up military promotions. “For someone who was born in a communist country," said Secretary Del Toro, "I would never have imagined that actually one of our own senators would actually be aiding and abetting communists and other autocratic regimes around the world.” And there is more on the 14th Amendment, now the flavor of the month in the media. Michigan's Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson makes an interesting revelation: “Secretaries of states of multiple states are having conversations. I'm talking with folks in Pennsylvania, with the secretary of state in Nevada and even in Maine; people in Georgia of course – my colleague Brad Raffensberger – just to get a sense of what the facts are” and she added that a group of states quote “likely need to act in concert, if we act at all.” B-Block (21:10) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: I'm somewhat limited by a throat infection, but here are Anthony Rendon of baseball's Angels who can't play due to a string of injuries (it happens) but refuses to talk about it (it's inexcusable), Washington Post "Fact Checker" Glenn Kessler, and the Saudi Prince who's trying to choose our president for us and whose exports to this country we should cut off and whose assets here we should seize. C-Block (29:12) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Yesterday was the 15th anniversary of the night the Republican Party and Tom Brokaw got me fired as the co-anchor of MSNBC's 2008 Presidential Debate coverage because the Republicans told Brokaw do this or McCain won't show up for the debate you inherited when Tim Russert died and Brokaw really wanted a second career after Brian Williams had buried his first career alive and threw me under the bus even though I had welcomed him to our MSNBC campaign coverage when NBC had literally benched him for the '08 campaign.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On today's episode we set the record straight on the media's most recent lies about the virus. We start with their latest doomsday articles about Brazil. If you believed the media's narrative, you'd think that Brazil has one of the highest death rates per million in the world. In reality, Brazil has one of the lower death rates for a country of their massive size. In fact, they are 27th on the global deaths per million toll. We discuss why the media wants you to believe differently. We also revisit Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer today. Michigan made headlines yesterday because according to a tweet by President Trump, Michigan's Secretary of State took the liberty of sending everyone in the state absentee ballot applications that could appear to be encouraging all Michiganders to vote by mail. We discuss Trump's allegations of potential voter fraud and how mail in ballots are the most susceptible for fraud. Finally, we examine the TRUE timeline about the virus. Outlets like the New York Times and CNN want you to believe that it's Trump who has "blood on his hands" from the death toll but the truth is Governors like Andrew Cuomo were downplaying the virus for weeks. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/ap-scoop/message
