JUDGE CANNON RISKS NATIONAL DEFENSE A BLOCK (1:46) SPECIAL COMMENT: Department of Justice asks Trump Flunky Judge Aileen Cannon to stay her order for a "Special Master" to thumb through documents too top secret for most defense officials to know exist (3:29) To explain the continuing risk that Trump may have stolen MORE documents describing other nation's nukes (and done a better job hiding them) let's explore two hypothetical nations, one with nuclear capabilities and one without. Let's call them "Bisrael" and "Howdy Arabia" (6:05) DOJ emphasized they can't tell what Trump might still be hiding without knowing what they already have; I believe if the judge doesn't cooperate they should act without her, on the basis of national defense (7:10) And after former Trump US Attorney Appointee's revelations, no more crap from Republicans about "politicizing the DOJ." Trump wanted him to prosecute John Kerry (8:39) Grand Jury now investigating Trump's "Save America PAC" scam (9:12) and speaking of scam, Steve Bannon Does The Perp Walk and repeats "They'll have to kill me first." Whatever you say, Rasputin Only More Unkempt. B BLOCK (14:00) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Pumpkin, in Miami (15:25) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: The death of Queen Elizabeth and her 25,782 days on the job and how she seemed to accept both reverence and irreverence with equal grace; and one of my original CNN colleagues Bernard Shaw has also died, leaving a controversial legacy and an infamous question in the 1988 Presidential Debates (23:24) IN SPORTS: Baseball is going to do it! Ban shifts, even though shifts have been in use IN THE MAJORS SINCE 1874 and even though without shifts the 1st Baseman would still spend all game standing ON 1st Base (29:11) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: I compete against Fox News and @GarfieldFanArt for the honors. C BLOCK (34:45) FRIDAYS WITH JAMES THURBER: Three of his best, and most admired, fables: "The Unicorn In The Garden," "The Rabbits Who Caused All The Trouble," and the one I have a tattoo for, "The Moth And The Star."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's been said that truth is the first casualty of war. As Russia wages its war in Ukraine, Darren Linvill sounds the alarm that social media, which has long had its own problems with the truth, is again a platform for Russian disinformation. Linvill is a social media forensics expert and Associate Professor at Clemson University.  He investigates data messaging and the impacts of inauthentic behavior on social media networks, exploring the exploitation of trust and social capital in social networks.  He also examines misinformation and disinformation in the context of social media forensics and data monitoring.  He has collaborated with social media companies and government entities to expose fake accounts and counterfeit messaging.  Linvill's research also examines social media users' connections with troll farms or robots disguised as other users that disseminate propaganda to promote specific ideas and encourage actions or reactions.  Linvill uses the Social Media Listening Center at Clemson University to access data and monitor and analyze a range of topics including the spread of white supremacy to the influence of foreign states on American conversations.  In 2020, he and colleague Patrick Warren partnered with the Commission on Presidential Debates to monitor social media conversations around the debates and help safeguard the 2020 election.  They have also worked with Twitter and Facebook to suspend hundreds of social media accounts they have attributed to a range of bad actors, including the Russian Internet Research Agency.  Linvill has published many articles on misinformation and has been a contributor to the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, Bloomberg, Inside Higher Ed, The State, CNN, NPR, ABC, NBC, WFAE and others. Welcome to Episode 214!  Its been ... a week.  AmIright??  Your GBF's are sitting down and catching up on the week that was.  Hot topics abound this week, so grab your paints, an easel, a canvas, and of course... your favorite port vintage.  It's time to paint!Kicking off this week's episode, Mark & Casey are having another taste test!  This week it's a "healthy" sugar free, fat free parfait of deliciousness.  In this week's Weekly Trash Pick up, Mark is sharing about a historic birthday in his family and the surprise party to celebrate during a whirlwind short weekend trip.  Then  Casey is sharing his experience celebrating the life of an important friend who recently lost their fight with cancer followed by the Easter soiree with friends.Next up is the Mid-Section.  In this week's Mid-Section, The Boys are returning to their brand of punditry.  Mark & Casey are sitting down to discuss the recent announcement from the Republican  National Committee stating they are withdrawing from the Commission on Presidential Debates, a non-partisan group responsible for hosting and operating the US Presidential Debates since 1987.  You know Mark & Casey enjoy punditry and will certainly not hold back their thoughts about this decision and what it means for Presidential debates moving forward.  It's a mess!  Will there be debates for the 2022 midterm elections? Will there be debates for the next Presidential election? What could that look like and will it be worth our time?  What are your thoughts?Afterwards, it's on to Trash Talk.  This week Mark is kicking things off with a soundbyte of Cancun Ted making inflamatory comments about Disney and their denunciation of the "Don't Say Gay Bill" in Florida.  You won't believe what comparison he draws to Disney push back on the new law in Florida (hint: it's yet another conversation not banned by the Don't Say Gay Bill but seemingly has much stronger inappropriate implications).  Next up, Casey is catching us up on the Depp-Heard trial.  Lots of tea has been spilled, more is being spilled, you won't believe some of the details coming out in court and Casey makes a prediction of the outcome just 1/3 of the way through the proceedings.  Lastly, to close out this week's segment, The Boys have received the tea on what was happening behind the scenes of this year's Oscars ceremony-- specifically why Liza isn't perhaps as feeble as we were lead to believe during the telecast.  What caused her to seem dazed and confused (thank God for Gaga)??  Take a listen to find out this tea. Then it's on to this week's Recomendations, Casey has got a new favorite Real Housewives cast? Which one?? Well you'll have to listen to find out.  Then Mark has a wreck-o-mendation of a streaming reality show, currently in it's 2nd season.  It's trash and he loves it!This episode has it all -- punditry, comedy,  friendship, family, tea, Disney, Hollywood, and painting.  You don't want to miss any of it, so pour yourself some of your favorite port vintage and get ready for an all new Painted Trash Podcast: an LGBTAQ+IA  Podcast of Discourse!  =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-Let The Boys of Painted Trash know your thoughts on this week's topics and episode!Have a topic idea or story you recommend for Trash Talk, be sure to send it in to our email or through the "contact us" on our website.Follow us on:Instagram: instragram.com/paintedtrashpodTwitter: twitter.com/paintedtrashpodFacebook: facebookcom/paintedtrashpodcastDon't forget to click Subscribe and/or Follow and  leave us a review!email: paintedtrashpodcast@gmail.comweb: www.painte

This comes on the heels of an incredibly violent night in Philadelphia, with around 20 shot and 3 killed after the past 24 hours, with Dom explaining why he believes Larry Krasner to be responsible for the climate that's taken over Philadelphia. Then, Giordano spends time discussing the decision by the RNC to withdraw from the Commission on Presidential Debates that sets debates, telling why he indeed supports the decision, pointing out the bias of past moderators, asking listeners who they would like to see moderate future debates. Then, Liz Preate-Havey, Chair of the Montgomery County Republicans, rejoins the Dom Giordano Program to tell why her County's branch of the GOP decided to offer their endorsement for Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Dave White. First, Giordano asks Preate-Havey to take us through the genesis of the endorsement, with the Chair taking us through the process that lead to her offering support for White. Preate-Havey tells that many constituents have been reaching out to the organization asking them for who to support, and explains that former President Donald Trump's comments made about White's opponent Bill McSwain played into their decision to support White. In addition, Liz comments on the potential opponent in a gubernatorial general election, being current AG Josh Shapiro, and tells why the organization has decided to also throw their support for Clarice Schillinger for Lieutenant Governor. The Republican Committee Has WITHDRAWN From Presidential Debates, RNC SLAMS Forum Over Democrat Bias. The RNC had warned in the past the move would happen if the bias in favor of Democrats was not rectified. This could mean no debates happen in the 2024 cycle as the GOP feels the bias just hurts their chances. But this divide has been a long time coming. THe media bias is beyond palpable and with Elon Musk offering to buyout twitter sparking political and ideological panic its obvious now that politics has become dirtier than it even was before. At this week's Round Table, Inica, Jack, Kenisha and Madeline spoke with Michael Mauser and Helen Hankin, two authentic intergenerational allies. Michael is the Co-Chair for the Braver Angels Nevada Statewide Alliance, and both Michael and Helen have both been active in both the Toastmasters International and the Rotary Youth exchange for decades, hosting 11 students from other countries over the years. Michael is motivated by the quotes “it's not enough to know, you also have to do things” and “When you can work with people, you get along better,” both of which clearly inform his thoughts and actions. Michael first got involved with Braver Angels at a time when he was depressed by the Presidential Debates, which were so different from the debates of his youth, which he felt had been more about seeking understanding. He watched a Braver Angel debate on YouTube between a pro Trumper and a liberal that was very civil and was heartened by what he experienced and how this illustrated his belief that we grow most by engaging with people who have totally different ideas than ourselves. Helen's ethos is informed by the question of “What does the community need and what will help them the most?” and she enjoys pursuing sustainable projects that can achieve both initial goals and long term objectives. We discussed the importance of seeking connection, not consensus, in conversations across difference; honing in on shared moral foundations; and seeing each other as people rather than parties. At root, though there are very real differences in priorities and values, we're all motivated to solve key problems of our times, which can be either a very powerful uniter or divider. Should we be sitting around eating burgers and driving pickup trucks, and just wait for the system change needed to live sustainably on this planet?
