The crew here at KITM World Headquarters has been working hard to look busy as we head into our mid-week holiday. Good thing Joan McCarter is here to distract David Waldman with the latest DC news. Israel and Hamas indicate they are heading towards a deal. Of course, one person's ceasefire might be another's unconditional surrender. Even inside Israel, someone willing to do anything to rescue a family member can be seen as a traitor to their country. As Donald Trump becomes worse, so does America, so then who wouldn't expect Republicans to try to keep up? (Gops know better now, but they knew better then too.) Now that the government is funded, the next item on the Republican House agenda is getting rid of their Speaker for allowing the government to become funded. Meanwhile the Senate will be addressing aid to Ukraine. Tommy Tuberville dimly realizes the hole he's in, and hopes that someone figures out a way to get him out. A ‘faith-based' leader of Moms for Liberty in Philly turns out to be a registered sex offender!

If you listen to this show, or read these summaries, you want to vote today. You don't need David Waldman and Joan McCarter to explain why. (We'd be happy to, though. We kind of live for this stuff.) You don't want Republicans to take over, or for the United States to become the next Israel, do you? The present bunch of Gops are already bad enough. The government continues to teeter on the edge of their fiscal cliff while MAGA Mike's funding ladder to nowhere hangs out over the abyss. Perhaps the Senate “maxi-bus” can be loaded just right to save them all. Unfortunately for them and us, their man with a plan is an inexperienced zealot. Meanwhile, the Senate has a brainless zealot to contend with. It's either the military or Tommy Tuberville, and for some reason, they are still deciding… Donald Trump's nonexistent credibility, coherence and control were tested in court yesterday. As usual, TFFG was so awful that people thought Donald might be motivated by intelligence. Nah, he was just the same old stochastic jerk-wad.

And, Jacob has a special announcement! First, Sam and Emma run through updates on the FTC's case against Amazon, more Eric Adams drama, Trump's fraud case, the EPA, and the US economy, before discussing the Democratic fear-of-ceasefire when doing any messaging – and the importance of that starting to shift Jacob Silverman then joins, diving right into the collapse of Sam Bankman-Fried, the former face of Crypto, beginning one year ago today with the leaking of an FTX balance sheet exposing the first strands of massive conspiracy and fraud between SBF's companies FTX and Alameda, leading up to this week's conviction of him and multiple co-conspirators. After walking through the economic exposé, Silverman parses through the uncovering of the farce of SBF's philosophy of “effective altruism,” and the expansive ties of FTX's funds, before wrapping up with why this disaster hasn't tainted the crypto industry as much as would be expected. Sam and Emma also look at the incredible cold-hearted coverage of Palestinians by the mainstream media, and touch on Ta-Nehisi Coates' comments on the hypocrisy of zionist “democracy.” And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma watch Jewish Voice for Peace, the Philly Palestine Coalition, and If Not Now swarm Philadelphia's 30th Street Station, discuss the influence of the war on terror on Netanyahu's regime, and the potential economic influence of the Ben Gurion Canal on Israel's ethnic cleansing of Palestine. You have to hand it to Biden. Despite his cognitive decline, he has never mistakenly deviated from his immoral views. I list all of the ways he is strategically helping Hamas kill Israeli soldiers. Meanwhile, the Right is in disarray. Republicans are bashing Tommy Tuberville for fighting the woke military; they have no plan for the budget fight; and now even the Freedom Caucus members are bitterly divided over unimportant matters. Later on, I chronicle how many of the Israelis killed by Hamas were actually left-wing activists who genuinely thought they could make peace with the Arabs. It is a tragic metaphor for what has happened to the Western countries that have embraced Islamic migration. We are now experiencing the same thing with our “generosity” to the Venezuelan migrants who are flooding our cities with dangerous gangs. Learn more about your ad choices. When it comes to solutions to the climate crisis, we’re going to need a whole menu of options. One item on the menu: clean hydrogen. The Joe Biden administration recently invested $7 billion into developing clean hydrogen hubs across the country, with hopes the technology could help reduce carbon emissions in a variety of industries. “Many people call it a Swiss Army knife of decarbonization,” said Emily Pontecorvo, staff writer at Heatmap News. “But the problem of thinking of it that way is that it takes so much energy to make hydrogen that you really only want to use it in cases where you don’t really have any other options.” On the show today, Pontecorvo explains the difference between “clean” and “dirty” hydrogen, how we might use hydrogen fuel, and why some climate advocates are skeptical of its climate friendliness. Then, the other labor story of the summer: rounds of walkouts by pharmacy staff at CVS and Walgreens. And we’ll get into how Sen. Tommy Tuberville's ongoing military promotion blockade has complicated a top military official’s health emergency. Later, we’ll hear a listener’s concerns about nuclear energy. And another listener was wrong about which countries export petroleum (until they played Tradle). Here’s everything we talked about: “Biden's Big Hydrogen Experiment Is About to Begin” from Heatmap News “White House puts $7 billion toward hydrogen hubs” from Marketplace “The race to scale up green hydrogen” from Financial Times “Column: Hydrogen is a crucial climate solution. It’s also a distraction” from The Los Angeles Times “What is hydrogen, and can it really become a climate change solution?” from The Conversation “Biden administration invests in hydrogen fuel, but hurdles remain” from Marketplace “Top Marine General Hospitalized After Apparently Having Heart Attack” from The New York Times “CVS and Walgreens pharmacy staff begin 3-day walkout” from CNN We want to hear your answer to the Make Me Smart question.
