After taking a two-year break we wanted to take at least one episode to share about what we’ve been up to, why we came back and our plans for the future of Nerd Out Loud.
Step on up to the bar, order a shot and a beer from the tough-as-nails lady wearing the cat sweatshirt, and get ready to embrace your rage, because this month’s clip show is all about the Big Dog. Luke is famous for his temper, so Ann and Christy are here to share some memorable TBTL times when things got … a little heated. Mostly, we try to answer the question, ‘Is Luke a jerk, or the best friend ever?’ Along the way, we break down the original Big Dog story, critique Andrew’s handling of a difficult bartender, and agree that Luke will probably never get a job with the Seattle Bureau of Tourism. Plus, Christy’s dad started an “extreme counseling” business (it involves non-contact taekwondo), and it’s kind of awesome. Here’s a handy list of what we learned: 1) It’s probably not about you 2) When The Mummy is the voice of reason, something has gone terribly wrong 3) Don’t awaken Christy’s righteous fury unless you want your tires slashed 4) NEVER TOUCH THE BOUNCER Bonus: Here's the episode of Nerd Out Loud where Christy lost her mind with anger.

Bobby, Mike and Meredith take a break from their quixotic romp through Edmonds for your latest TBTL Week in Review, chock full of things you probably don’t want to Google. Plus, disconnected plumbing plagues both Mike (literally) and Meredith’s puppy Eddie (figuratively). But at least we’ve sold enough LRB stickers for the crane shot. Bonus: Producer Jeremy got in touch with the ashtray collectors mentioned this week on TBTL, and interviewed them for his and Christy’s podcast, Nerd Out Loud. Check out a clip from their chat at the end of today’s show!

Thank you so much for participating in this, our final episode! We really mean it when we say this has been the ride of our lives. We touch on some major touchstones throughout the show & discuss where we started vs where we've landed. Ann, Meredith, Christy and Bobby brew a fresh pot of hotel room coffee, strap the LRB Bluetooth speaker to a Roomba, and pile into a 1988 Ford Tempo (or was it a Topaz?) to bring you your latest TBTL Week in Review. Get ready for an ear volcano of insight, because we’re burning through hot takes faster than the government burns through batteries. Plus, we didn’t loan our recorder to Fay Canale. As mentioned on this episode: Nerd Out Loud #93: Is That A Face Tattoo Or A Birthmark? Takedown Podcast #66: Tinder is the Night

The boys are joined by long time intern Christy Wise of Nerd Out Loud & Little Red Bandwagon fame. In what is becoming a tradition the boys dig deep into the origins of this podcasting legend. From her humble beginnings in Omaha, NE with no furniture to her brief stint living in a duvet cover, no stone is left unturnt. If you've listened to any of her shows & wondered aloud, "I wonder if she ever spent any extended time in Detroit courting a celibate boy," well we have the answer. She did. But certainly not here. The closing song is "Repeater" by Fugazi, which is Craig & Christy's spirit post-hardcore animal.

Disclaimer from Jeremy: 1_ Audio is a litle janky, still figuring out how to man the board and edit the sound and all that fun and exciting stuff, it'll get better I promise. 2_ I may have been a little wound up during the recording, apologies in advance for my hyperactivness luckily Christy was there to keep things reigned in, I'll try and track down some ritalin for the next episode.
