Notes Luke 18:9-14 Joel 2:23-32 2 Timothy 4:6-8, 16-18 Takeaways The Pharisee's self-righteousness contrasts with the humility of the tax collector. Humility is essential in discussions of justice and righteousness. Justice and righteousness must be balanced with compassion and understanding. The parable challenges listeners to reflect on their own self-perception. The context of Jesus' parable is crucial for understanding its message. Joel's message of hope is relevant in times of despair. The Holy Spirit's outpouring is a transformative force for all. Paul's reflections in 2 Timothy highlight the importance of perseverance in faith. Legacy is built on the actions we take in our lives. The ongoing impact of our lives continues even after we are gone. Summary In this episode of the Pulpit Fiction Podcast, hosts Eric Fistler and Rob McCoy explore the themes of humility, justice, and the transformative power of faith through the lens of biblical texts. They discuss the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector from Luke 18, emphasizing the importance of humility in faith and the dangers of self-righteousness. The conversation then shifts to the prophetic message of Joel, highlighting the hope and renewal that comes from God's spirit. Finally, they reflect on Paul's farewell in 2 Timothy, considering the legacy of faith and the ongoing impact of our lives. Throughout the discussion, the hosts encourage listeners to engage with these themes in their own lives and communities. What's the one thing you've always wanted to try on your podcast, but never dared to do? Today, we dusted off the mailbag and found some inspiration in a question from a fellow podcaster: “What's one thing every podcaster should try at least once?” This got us thinking about all the ways we can break out of our routines and breathe new life into our shows. Today we share the experiments and challenges that have made the biggest difference for us. For some, it's trying a new storytelling style, or getting out from behind the desk to record in the real world, or even letting someone else take the reins and interview you for a change. We discussed going live, the lessons you learn from editing your own episodes, and the value of connecting with your audience in new ways. In this very special episode of The Kelly Roach Show, we're pulling back the curtain on an unforgettable day that sparked inspiration, connection, and legacy-building for generations to come. Earlier this year, Kelly teamed up with Sandi Glandt to host the first-ever South Florida Live Podcasting Event – an experience that brought together powerhouse women, their children, and families for candid conversations on life, leadership, and living your legacy now. This episode is packed with heart, humor, and practical wisdom as Kelly and Sandy are joined by their kids on stage, sharing real-life lessons on business, motherhood, time management, and the importance of exposing the next generation to the mindset of abundance and possibility. If you're a business owner, a parent, or simply someone who wants to create a meaningful impact with your life, this episode is for you. Here's what we cover in this episode: How to merge family, business, and legacy seamlessly—without compromising what matters most Breaking the old paradigm of legacy—why legacy isn't what you leave behind, but what you live every day The ripple effect of including your kids in your business journey—from attending events to learning about money, investing, and entrepreneurship The real truth about “doing it all” as a mom, business owner, and leader—and why giving yourself grace (and flexibility) is the secret to longevity Raising kids with an abundance mindset—the mantra Kelly and Sandy teach their kids: It's never a no, it's a “How are we going to make it happen?” Practical time management and productivity tips for high-achieving moms—why some days are heavy on work, and others are all about family, and that's okay The importance of community and connection for women in business—and how the relationships you build today can change your life tomorrow Why your imperfections matter more than your perfection—and how embracing authenticity will create stronger impact in the AI age This episode will inspire you to: ✨ Reimagine your legacy as something you build now—not later. ✨ Invite your kids (or loved ones) into your business journey and plant seeds of possibility early. ✨ Release the pressure of perfection and focus on what matters most. ✨ Build a faith-filled, family-first empire that creates wealth, impact, and joy for generations to come. We dig into his journey from being inspired by the now-defunct platform Blab, to constructing a DIY podcast stage from old school chairs and auctioned gear, all the way to launching a first-of-its-kind Infinite Seat Theater. Plus – he's giving podcasters free access to his space to test their chops without risk. This is more than a side hustle. It's about building the middle ground between your basement and Madison Square Garden.
Send us a textA fading sun over Robert Clay Vineyards set the stage for Texas Wine and True Crime's season finale—an intimate gathering where hosts Brandy and Chris Diamond peeled back layers of Mason's hidden history through unsolved murders spanning more than a century.Standing at a crossroads in their podcast journey, the Diamonds announced their leap into video content after four years of audio-only episodes. "Our faces have been somewhat obscured for the past four and a half years," Chris explained, signaling an evolution for their 162-episode-strong show that pairs Texas wines with true crime narratives. The evening's exploration began with Jimmy Schuessler's 2001 murder—a case approaching its 24th anniversary without resolution. Investigators found Schuessler had bled to death on his couch after suffering a blow to the head outside his remote home. Blood trails revealed his tragic final moments: the struggle at his truck, his attempt to clean himself in the bathroom, and his eventual collapse in the living room. The location of his house—difficult to find unless you knew where it was—suggests his killer wasn't a random drifter but someone from his business dealings or personal life.Traveling further back, the hosts unraveled the heartbreaking case of 17-year-old Adele Kaufman, murdered in 1892 while walking home from school. Found by her father on a path he had specially cleared for her safety, Adele's brutal killing left few clues beyond a bloodied stone and evidence of a horse tied nearby for hours. The killer had washed bloody hands in a stream before vanishing into history. "Every unsolved case gives us theories, but little closure," Brandy reflected as audience members contributed local knowledge that textbooks and archives could never capture. What makes these stories resonate isn't just the mystery, but their connection to place—how they echo through generations in communities where everyone knows your name but some secrets remain buried. Follow Texas Wine and True Crime as they expand their storytelling through video while continuing to give voice to victims whose stories deserve to be remembered, glass of Texas wine in hand.www.texaswineandtruecrime.com

The pros and cons of hosting a 'live' podcast Live podcasting offers several advantages . . . and disadvantages. On the side of pros, it enhances audience engagement by enabling real-time interaction through chat or comments, for a more dynamic listening experience and adding authenticity because its unscripted. Instant feedback from the audience allows for quick adjustments and a better understanding of resonating topics. However, live podcasting comes with downsides. Technical glitches can harm audio/video quality, impacting the listener's experience. The fixed broadcasting schedule demands more time commitment than pre-recorded episodes. And in live shows, mistakes are uneditable, potentially affecting content quality. Today's Hosts: Mike Dell and Todd Cochrane Live or no live? Pros of Live Podcasting: Increased audience engagement: Viewers or listeners can interact live through chat or comments. This creates a more dynamic listening experience. Authenticity: Live streams have a sense of immediacy and spontaneity, which can give your podcast an authentic feel. People often appreciate the raw, unedited quality of live content. Instant feedback: With live streaming, you get immediate feedback on your content. If something isn't resonating, you can pivot quickly, and if something really strikes a chord, you can dive deeper. Ability to take live questions: You can get immediate feedback and input from your audience. This allows you to have more interactive discussions. Builds community: Live shows allow you to connect directly with your audience in real time. This helps build a stronger sense of community. Drives discovery: Being live on a platform can help new people discover your show who may not find a recorded podcast. Unique content: The conversations generated during a live show are one-of-a-kind and can't be recreated later. This makes the content more exclusive. Multi-platform content: You could potentially reach a larger audience by making your content available on both podcast platforms and live streaming services. Cons of Live Podcasting: Technical issues: Streaming live has more potential for tech problems like audio/video quality or disruptions. This can negatively impact the listener experience. Time commitment: You have to broadcast at specific times on a consistent schedule, which is less flexible than pre-recording. Can't edit mistakes: Any verbal stumbles or mistakes made during the live show can't be edited out later. Limited control: You have less control over the show flow and discussions since it involves live interactions. Privacy Concerns: Live streaming can potentially expose more personal information, which might be a concern depending on your topic and guest considerations. Overall, the best option depends on your goals, resources, and audience. Many podcasters find benefits in both live streaming and traditional episodes. A mixed approach can allow you to get the pros of each. The best place for support with any Blubrry product or service is our ticket system.

In honor of our upcoming LIVE episode from Sundance, I wanted to repost our first live episode from Diwali On The Hudson back in 2021! Stayed tuned for new episodes starting next week!Editor's Note- This is a live podcast so please excuse all the extra background noise. It is our first live podcast!! We had the honor to attend Diwali On The Hudson this year, NYC's premiere Diwali event hosted by The Desai Foundation. And let me tell you, we had some good times. Diwali On The Hudson celebrates love, light and of course the very important work of The Desai Foundation. This year, appearances by the talented Falu and The Resistance Revival Chorus graced the stage and we had some fantastic jams courtesy of DJ Suhel! The Desai Foundation's main focus for over 20 years has been empowering women and girls through community programs to elevate health and livelihood in India & U.S. During the 2021 COVID crisis, they shifted their focus to address the needs of the communities we serve, while also leveraging the programs that were already in place. The foundation is currently operating in 1000 villages, and has reached a population of over 3.4 million people. Their work cultivates dignity so that everyone can dream beyond their circumstances. To donate or learn more, please go to thedesaifoundation.org A BIG THANK YOU to all my guests for being brave enough to step up to the mic. You made this episode.
Episode #026Recorded Live at the Howell Branch Library in Fredericksburg during the Virginia Podcasters Association (VAPODA.org) Meetup.Tim and Kyle have been experimenting with how to produce a live showNate and Preston attended our October 2019 Meetup to see how the secret sauce is madeWe recorded this BEFORE DC Podfest (dcpodfest.com) where Kyle attended for the 4th year and Tim for the 3rd Year!We spent an hour setting up our gearWe think that coil rolling of audio cables is a lost artWe go through what gear we use to take our podcast “LIVE”What did we learn?Live includes a lot of improvs and you have to be good on your feet (or mouth)Location can cause problems with sound (e.g. echo, room size, power, lighting)Soundproofing on-the-fly can work but it does not completely remove microphone bleed. Our microphones were air-gapped and the audio files used the double-header technique where we each record our own audio file and they are synced together in post-production.Kyle is using the ZOOM H4N Pro and an Audio-Technia ATR2100 microphone.Tim is using the ZOOM H5 (just to be bigger) and a Samson Q2U microphone.Headphones help you hear your sound and hitting record on a portable recorder can make or break your live recording.Quotes“Little things can make such a big difference during recording.”― Matt CameronSupport the ShowEvery episode is a work of passion that requires a lot of coffee! Bethany and Ellie start a brand new season of The Money Millhouse! After celebrating the first episode of season 2, they dive into talking about buying a home. Bethany admits she is a little discouraged at the price of homes and how she and her husband are saving up to buy their first house. Ellie gives several ways to make money in real estate. Joining them on at Ellie's Kitchen Table is Joseph Kelly, the National Director of Heroes Come First. He shares why this cause matters to him and how Heroes Comes First is able to give back to active and retired: Military, Law Enforcement, Firefighters, Medical professionals and support, teachers and clergy whenever they are buying, selling, or refinancing a home. He also lends his advice when it comes to steps in buying a home and how to look for the professionals to help them. He offers a checklist of qualities to look for when looking for those people to make the process as least stressful as possible, as well as the VA option for our military members Bethany and Ellie end the show talking about how these rewards can add up to thousands of dollars when buying a home. They also discuss expenses that can come up when moving into a new home. They also update the audience on Bethany's new role at FinCon, the Live Podcasting they will be doing from there, as well as a Facebook Live version of Drinks with Darbi.
It's telling that I inadvertently referred to this episode as a debate... there is quite a lot of (healthy) disagreement among us on the various virtues--or lack thereof--in the penultimate episode of season six. Because apparently that's my new M.O., I get really earnest about Carrie and Quinn while Ashleys describes her increasing uneasiness and frustration with Quinn's characterization. We close with another pop quiz about our finale predictions as we head into the home stretch. It gets pretty... bananas.
