Jump Start Records was born in a college dorm room first as a paper mailorder catalog and zine that quickly evolved into a vinyl 7″ release with Montreal’s The Planet Smashers. Twenty years and over 100 releases later, they’re still here, for better or for worse, fighting the good fight. While the focus and drive of the label has shifted greatly over the years, one thing has stayed true and that’s a personal connection with the music and a desire to work with their friends releasing music that they love. Times are tough, and being an independent record label in the year 2017 isn’t easy; getting people to pay attention to a small record label run out of a suburban Philadelphia basement is no easy task, but they hope you enjoy what you find as much as they enjoy introducing the world to bands and music they think people ought to know. They don’t give a fuck what bands you’ve played with, who you recorded with, or how many followers you have on social media. If they like it, they like it, and there’s not much else to say. It doesn’t matter if it’s punk, hardcore, ska, soul, hip-hop, or jazz, when the record needle hits you know it when you hear it. Shout out to Adam Fowler of the Overdrives for the intro to Jeremy. This week the gang goes back in time to an episode we recorded back towards quarantine, where we sat down to enjoy Neshaminy Creek Brewing! While our biggest difficulty was trying to pronounce Neshaminy, we had no difficulty enjoying these delicious beers. We tried a few beers, the Cherry Hibiscus Wheat, Strange Rituals Red IPA and the Shape of Hops to Come Double IPA.https://neshaminycreekbrewing.com/"Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company was founded in 2010 by head brewmaster Jeremy Myers and assistant brewers Rob Jahn and Steve Capelli. It takes its name from the nearby creek of the same name, from which it draws water for its beer. The facility itself, located at 909 Ray Avenue, officially opened on June 1, 2012. In 2013, the Churchville Lager won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival.[5] In 2016, Neshaminy Creek won two bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival for their Vienna Lager and their smoked beer.In 2016, Neshaminy Creek announced the opening of a location and tasting room in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia.[7]The company brews six year-round beers and several seasonal beers, which are distributed to the greater Philadelphia area and New Jersey."Give our episode a listen to see what we think of these beers and give you some information on Neshaminy's origin story! It’s episode 6 already! We’re excited to go solo this episode and recap how the show has been and what we’ve enjoyed so far! We start out by introducing our Brewery today which is Neshaminy Creek Brewing. The brewery resides in Croydon PA and supplies the area with amazing beers, one of which we’ll be trying on the show. The beer is called Highwater Hefeweizen. This is a wheat beer with hints of clove and banana. Gene is the judge on the beer for the show today and he rates it well! After beer we discuss some beer related news and then turn into a completely different direction and discuss a controversy surrounding Castor Semenya. Castor is an olympic sprinter for South Africa and was denied competing by the governing body only to appeal the decision and lose. The controversy is discussed at length and we want to be clear in stating that we’re not medical professionals and have basic knowledge about the issue at hand. We do, however, have opinions about it and we share those with a little help with our medical expert Cara who keeps us on the factual side of the science. In the end we rate the beer and enjoy it all while coming to some conclusions of our own. Thanks to Neshaminy Creek Brewing for the amazing brew! Also thanks to Tavour our amazing sponsor and thanks to Paul Bunyan Fitness for the place to talk! HIGHLIGHTS 2:00 They don’t speak Mexican in Mexico 4:00 Tavour is coming! Peter and Mike review Churchville Lager by Neshaminy Creek Brewing. Iron Maiden! Mike gets bitten! Harry Potter rocks! Pee drips happen to everyone…apparently.
This episode takes place at the bar in Rob's house and was recorded on 3 iPhones. We each had one in front of us. All 3 files were sent to Richard where he married the audio to make it sound whole. Only issue was, Jay Rose got 2 calls during the recording which threw off the Synch. Richard being the audio dynamo that he his, saved the episode. JR sounds a little like a Daft Punk robot toward the end which isn't the end of the world. That's what he gets for not turning on airplane mode while recording. We drink beers from Omnipollo, Evil Twin, Neshaminy Creek, and our boys Tonewood. A NICE time was had by all.
This episode we set up at a beer fest we’ve never recorded at before, Hop Rods and Hops at Neshaminy Creek Brewing. This annual event features several local breweries, food trucks, live music from Soul Custody and, of course, lots of cool cars. We sat down with Neshaminy Creek brewer and co-owner Jeremy Myers to talk about the event and kick off the day with some stellar (and award-winning) beers. Then, we ran down the lineup of visiting breweries, chatting with some new friends and old, and sampling many of the concoctions on offer. This event was a blast, and always benefits a good cause – this year, proceeds went to the Croydon VFW.
This week TJ Del Reno from Unlimited Lives fills in for Jessica, Bronston Jones joins us as we chat with Johnny from Neshaminy Creek Brewing at the NYC craft beer festival.

Segment 2 from Philly Beer Scene Band Of Brewers at World Cafe Live. We Drink a mystery bottle, and try to figure out the difference between Porter and Stout and Baltic Porter. Rob Jahn from Neshaminy Creek Brewing stops by to talk about their new location and we drink a super exclusive Transmitter beer with him.
With Jeremy Myers at Neshaminy Creek Brewing On the road this time in Croydon, PA, we sat down with head brewer and co-owner of Neshaminy Creek Brewing, Jeremy Myers. Our conversation ebbed and flowed across a wide range of topics while other brewers were busy “makin’ the J.A.W.N.” Dan reported on some news, including Stone’s first special release at their Richmond, VA location and a rather unfortunate beer name, and we played The Beer Seller in Happy Fun Time. All while we sampled a wide array of Neshaminy’s top-notch brews.
3rd and final segment from the Neshaminy Creek Brewing's 4th Anniversary Party. In this episode we sit down with Rob Jahn and Steve Capelli, Co-owners and operators of Neshaminy Creek Brewing, we get pretty deep (for us) into the heated world of politics with Richard, and a couple random ladies take over the open mics toward the end. 3rd segments are usually never a good idea, this one is easily our best. Crack a Jawn and get in to it.
46 is segment 2 from the Neshaminy Creek Brewing 4th Anniversary Party. Not bad for a second segment! John Hoyos from Hunterdon sits in, and we introduce a new segment called "Beer Soaked Politics With Richard THE Rastafarian." We don't get too far into the segment before it gets derailed by the Neshaminy Creek GM, the one and only, Pat Pie. Strap in, this is a FUNNY EPISODE! Get into it!
Segment 2 of our Philly Beer Scene Band Of Brewers Podcast. In this one we have a few guests from Neshaminy Creek Brewing, one is Kyle. one is Stephan, the other we can't really mention. You'll hear why. Laura from Weyerbacher stops by, Mat Falco admits off-mic that he doesn't listen, and we learn the difference between prison and jail. Oh, and there's a group sing-along of the song Your Love by Outfield. Ridiculous.
In segment 3 we wrap up our visit to Neshaminy Creek Brewing with Tasting Room Manager Pat Pie. DC Nick sits in, we do an In The Crosshairs segment with Pat Pie, tell some Richard stories, and Pat Pie drops some exclusive Neshaminy Creek Brewing news on us towards the end of the podcast. One of our funniest episodes yet!
In Segment 2 we enjoy a Neshaminy Creek Shapes Of Hops To Come at the brewery with Jeremy Myers, Co-Founder and Head Brewer For Neshaminy Creek Brewing Co. This segment is a great opportunity for craft beer fans to see the inter-workings, daily operations, and behind the scenes antics of one of the fastest growing breweries in the area. Fire this up with a beer and enjoy the show!
